Is my pleasure how I give?

Is sacrificing for others how I give?

Is it my pleasure or others that matters?

What is the point of life's pleasures?

To give it or validate others by experiencing it?

Am I here to clean up this world?

Or just do my part to not add to the mess?

If I clean up for everyone, am I adding value?

If I keep my corner tidy, is that all the earth needs?

If I clean my corner or everyone's am I resposible?

What is sustainable for me in caring for Earth?

Mimimizing the negaitive impact of myself or everyone's?

This Lyric Card note explores 3 concepts:

Meaning: From time to time we get advice like 'Live in the moment' - I have even done a series on this too. We are also advised to 'Live with Purpose' - I have also written some things about Purpose. Both concepts pull you in two directions at once because both ideas are solid. So I ask the reader a question in the first verse: which of these two options is the substance of life.

Pleasure and Joy: There is no doubt that we all live for life's Pleasures and Joys. The only thing is that both Pleasure and Joy are experienced as gifts or rewards. So in this note, I ask the question is the point of our life to give or receive that pleasure and or joy. Are we supposed to create it for others and thus have meaning? Or are we supposed to experience it from others and those gain meaning by being the recipient of another person's effort?

Sustainability: If the past few decades has taught us nothing, it has at the very least taught us that there is a real cost that is charged back to the Earth for every great technological breakthrough mankind achieves. This realities are seen in the way the climate has changed. While some people are aware of the problem, not everyone is sure of their part in solving it. In this note, I explore the question of whether we should individually just do our own part in our little corner of the earth or whether we should expand our scope and sacrifice to make up for those that won't or refuse to make changes whether this means forcing others to do the right thing or cleaning up after them. Either way, we have to find a way to ensure Humanity is nuturing the earth and not being a burden on it.

The answers to the questions I ask in this Lyric Notes, is a part of the puzzle of our Identity. Whether we exist in duality (considering 2 things true at once) or whether we are singular in our existence.

This lyric card note explores the idea that most of us are faking the lives we live in the sense that it is a copy imitation of another peron's life. Most do not know who they are and they take the cue or inspiration for their identity from the world around them. An observation of the lives around us makes it clear that, most people are pretending to be something that they are not. I believe that:
Knowing who you are is what defines of you.
Who you are can only be revealed by introspection.
Needing to be something that someone else is, is not always a real need.
The secret or code for who you need to be is written deep in your DNA, your thoughts, your feeling and in your lived experience.

This lyric card is an acceptance: that there is no escaping adversity. There will always be something or someone gunning for us and what is ours but if we spend our time wrapped up in the despair of constantly experiencing adversities, we will lose sight of the point of it all.

That it can only reveal who we are and where we are.

That through adversity, we continue to retain the essence of who we are

No adversity can take the true fabric of our being from us unless we let it consume us.

It has been a minute since I did a Lyric Card series just for the enjoyment and experience of it.

Losing my mum has been the most painful experience of my life. It has called into question everything that was important to me and kind of shifted my perspective. Nevertheless, I must continue to live and she would never have wanted me to be dissuaded from life just because she was gone and doing a series is my way of honoring her wishes. 🕯

So let's get to it.

I have titled my new series "Identity Crises" because lately I have been examining my options i.e. what I want and what I am willing to sacrifice for it - fun!😒Actually, not fun, I really wish I could eat my cake and have it.

Now I want cake🎂

I am no authority on Identity Crises so please do not quote me as an authority.😅

However, it occurred to me to share what I have been thinking and to see who else has been exploring these questions and answers so we can be weird together.😵

There are four major ideas I have been playing with - at least at the moment I'm typing this...

Who knows, you might get more.

They are:

Conforming to another successful person's manner of being. Gotta make it rain!💵💵💵
The need to live in the moment but still live meaningfully. Zig-Zag Baby!🎢
The need to see the world as it truly is without losing yourself in response to it. Stay woke!📢
Being yourself and conforming to an acceptable standard of existence. Don't wanna be weird!👻

You have needs, the world has expectations and somehow, you have to live a balanced and meaningful life. If you ask me, that is where Identity Crises comes in. E.g. Buying things you do not really need because of how you need to be perceived or doing things you do not believe in so that you do not stand out.

And please, Dear Lord ! Please, do not forget FOMO!😫

This nice crazy mix is my theory for why we do not know who the heck we are anymore and I hope this series helps you figure out where yours comes from.

Hey! Last one I swear.

I lost my mom so dear to me - I gained in my mind, a loop of her final days
