In September we took part in the third amazing BYOB Berlin event at LA18 – part of Berlin New Media Week.

I performed a Dronal live set with visuals by Mike IV, but also did a collaboration with Adrianna Snochowska for an Ebauche music video which was shown in the cinema room of the event.

The video is for a track from the last Ebauche album, Nine Times, and is entirely created from still images of Adrianna’s beautiful paintings. We slowly zoom into the centre of each image while applying various video effects and filters to bring the paintings virtually to life.

Hopefully you’ll find the effect pleasingly hypnotic!

I was very surprised to walk past this most unusual flower in Tierpark. Having never seen anything like it before I naturally caught a photo. It appears to be Fritillaria Imperialis, aka Crown Imperial.

I guess it makes sense that I don’t know the flower, as it’s native to Asia between from Turkey, through Iran, and on to Afghanistan and Pakistan. A beautiful flower which has strong ties to Iranian folklore.

A raised walkway threads its way through a protected marsh area around Teufelssee. It was a beautiful part of a hike we made with a group of friends in early April 2026 from the ferry crossing at Müggelbergallee, up to Müggelsee, and on to Müggelwerderweg ferry crossing.

A huge bison seems to stare directly at us, lit up by the late afternoon light in April near the exit of Tierpark in Berlin.

Layers of thin and delicate fabric hang down catching the light and dancing images from a projector out of shot. The result: an otherworldly sensation as the guest exits the city behind them and enters the wonderful world of BYOB Plug&Play.

The event happened at LA18 and over 60 audio and visual artists came together and, out of a love of their art, put on a show that would rival events with huge budgets. I was honoured to be a part of it.

A small cross section of a stunning sculpture seen in Palma, Mallorca titled The Journey, by Maria Isabel Ballester. The work was on display at Cansalas Gallery & Art House and absolutely took my breath away.

A stunning laser installation at the third BYOB event in Berlin in September 2026 at LA18. I found this incredibly difficult to photograph properly, especially without a tripod handy, but I loved how this photo seemed to show multiple panels of light floating within each other.

A somewhat unusual ceiling made up of varying materials. Old bricks with very thick mortar, concrete slabs, iron girders, crisscrossed by cable runs – all with unique and different textures, and topped off by being not-quite-symmetrical.

It’s nice that after a while I start to recognise flowers without having to look them up. The old brain is still absorbing knowledge after all these years. I’m quietly confident that this is a Rudbeckia, and a wonderful cheerful one at that.

Much and all as autumn can be a somewhat mournful passing of the lazy hazy summer days, it’s also full of character and beauty, highlighting the passage of time, the natural cycles of this planet on which we are lucky to find ourselves.
