NARRATIVE: On July 28, 2026, at approximately 12:02 a.m. APD responded to the area of E Northern Lights Blvd and UAA Drive for a report of a collision with injuries. 

The investigation revealed that a GMC Sierra was driving eastbound on Northern Lights when it struck a light post in the southeast corner of the intersection. An adult female identified as Kylie Hoogendorn, 23, was declared deceased at the scene. Two juvenile occupants were transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: July 21, 2026 1:12 AM 

CURRENT STATUS: Initial Report 

NARRATIVE: On July 21, 2026, at approximately 1:12 am, officers responded to the 8000 block of East 5th Avenue for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located two male adults inside of a residence with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. They are identified as Spencer King, 47 and Tajuan Jamestown, 19. Both were pronounced deceased by medics at the scene. Detectives have contacted everyone believed to be involved in this investigation and are not looking for anyone at this time. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no public safety threat. Next-of-Kin notification prodecures are complete.

 DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: July 20, 2026 2:14 AM 

CURRENT STATUS: Initial Report 

NARRATIVE: At approximately 2:14AM on July 20, 2026, officers responded to the 3000 block of West 33rd Avenue in reference to multiple shots fired. Upon arrival officers located several shell casings. Shortly after APD responded, a local hospital reported an individual had arrived with a gunshot wound and it was determined it is connected to the shots fired incident on the 3000 block of West 33rd Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, to include surveillance footage of the area, is asked to contact Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or (907)786-8900 (option #0).  The motive for the incident, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation. 

On July 18, 2026 at about 5:30 p.m., Anchorage Police Department (APD) Swing Shift officers along with personnel from the Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) and Alaska State Troopers (AST) and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) responded to reports of a bear incident on a trail in the area of Kenai Terrace Road and Brewsters Drive located in Bear Valley.

Upon arrival, APD officers climbed the trail where they located an adult female who sustained non-life-threatening injuries after encountering a brown bear while hiking with another person. AFD personnel carried her down the trail and transported the woman to a local hospital.

As the rescue was happening, APD officers deployed a drone to monitor for bear activity in the area. Officers were able to locate a brown bear nearby and monitor the activity to ensure that first responders and the injured hiker remained safe during the rescue.

Over the past year, APD has deployed more drones and pilots as part of an ongoing commitment to safety during incidents. Drones are deployed in accordance with all applicable laws and department policies, including strict privacy protections and usage guidelines.

APD Case 26-19000

APD Case: 26-18463 

NARRATIVE: At approximately 4:14 AM on July 14, 2026, officers responded to the 800 block of Edward St in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Through the investigation, police located a suspect identified as 21-year-old IOANESOOPELE LOLO. Lolo was remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex for Assault 1 and Theft 2.

APD CASE: 26-18587

The APD Traffic Unit took over investigation of this complaint.  Ultimately, it was determined that the driver at the time of these reports was LISA ANNIE JOHNSON, a 47-year-old Anchorage resident who was driving a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup.  Videos of the offenses were obtained and confirmed that the vehicle had passed in no passing zones, forcing at least one vehicle to swerve off the road, and coming close to a collision with another vehicle. 

On July 8, 2026, a warrant was obtained for JOHNSON for the offense of Reckless Driving, she has since posted bail and is scheduled for an arraignment.

APD Case 26-18146

ORIGINAL: On July 1, 2026, at around 8:12 pm, a driver of a motorcycle was travelling southbound on the Glenn Highway near the exit to Thunderbird Falls when the driver struck a moose in the roadway. The driver was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: July 01, 2026 at approximately 8:59 AM

NARRATIVE (Updated 7/2/2026): On July 1, 2026, at about 8:59 a.m. APD Patrol responded to a multi vehicle crash near mile 116.7 of the Seward Highway.  The investigation found that a 2006 Volvo was Northbound on the Seward Highway and crossed into the southbound lanes for an unknown reason.  The Volvo crashed head on with a 2022 Ford Explorer that was southbound in the southbound lanes.  Both vehicles came to a rest in Potter Marsh.  A third vehicle, a 2021 Ford Edge, was southbound behind the Explorer and swerved to avoid the crash, also ending up on Potter Marsh. Both the driver of the Volvo, identified as 69-year-old Richard Horn and the driver of the Explorer, identified as 51-year-old Heather Dean were declared deceased on scene by AFD medics.  The driver of the Ford Edge was transported to Providence Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Next-of-Kin procedures are complete. 

A portion of the highway was shut down for the investigation.  APD Patrol established a detour allowing traffic to bypass the crash location, using the Old Seward Highway to Potter Valley Road. The Highway was reopened at about 4:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026.

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: ​June 30, 2026, 5:00 PM​ 

NARRATIVE: At ​approximately 5:00 PM​ on ​June 30, 2026​, officers assigned to ​Patrol​ responded to ​the 4300 block of Piper St​ in reference to ​an adult female deceased inside a residence​. Upon arrival officers made observations that have prompted them to take a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the death. The Crime Scene Team responded to process the scene. Ultimately the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

As a result of the operation:

• 127 arrests were made, including both felony and misdemeanor offenses

• 6 stolen vehicles were recovered

• 11 guns were seized

• 14792 grams of methamphetamine

Finn fled the scene but was followed by a witness and eventually stopped by APD Officers on Boniface Pkwy near Northern Lights.  Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) were conducted and Finn performed poorly. He was transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) where he provided a breath sample and completed a Drug Influence Evaluation. Results showed Finn was under the influence of Cannabis and was unsafe to operate a motor vehicle. 

Finn was charged and remanded for Assault 1, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Render aid.

 APD Case 26-16776

22-year-old Jaden Quezada was transported to the Anchorage Correctional Center (ACC) and was remanded on charges of Murder 2, Manslaughter and two unrelated warrants.

The name of the deceased individual will be released after Next-of-Kin notification procedures are complete.

APD Case 26-16287

On June 16 at approximately 10:03 pm, APD was called to a business at 8900 Old Seward Hwy for reports of theft. Upon arrival, three APD officers contacted the subject who was located inside of the business. As one officer moved to handcuff the subject, the subject attempted to flee and a struggle followed. The subject then fired a concealed handgun at officers, striking one APD officer twice in the lower body. That officer is recovering at a local hospital. The third APD officer was struck in the upper body. The round for the third APD officer was stopped by a ballistic trauma plate. That officer, identified as Ofc. Kaden Pohl, then returned fire and the subject identified as 33-year-old Deandrea Robertson was pronounced deceased on scene. Next-of-kin notification procedures are complete.

Ofc. Kaden Pohl has been with the Anchorage Police Department since December 2020.

Per policy the state’s Office of Special Prosecutions (OSP) will review the officer’s use of force and determine whether it was justified. Once that has been completed, APD Internal Affairs will review the officers’ actions to confirm whether there was any violation of policy.

As per APD practice, the officer who discharged the weapon will be placed on four days of administrative leave. Their name will be released publicly 72 hours after the incident. Once OSP has completed their investigation, their findings will be available for the public to review.

APD Case 26-16070

UPDATE 06/15/2026: On June 13, 2026, 25-year-old Remmel Carter-Nance was remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Center (ACC) on charges of Murder 2, Manslaughter, and Assault 1.

NARRATIVE: At approximately 5:08 AM on June 13, 2026, officers responded to the 100 block of North Hoyt Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a deceased male individual. A second individual was transported to a hospital for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.
