A snow storm has me house bound today.  I live near the West Coast of Canada, and this amount of snow is very unusual.

But here I am finally trying to revive asacredspot.com.

I’ve written about 7 songs in the last 18 months plus some music for 2 or 3 older songs, so I feel some momentum building.  I’ve also taken up the Tenor Ukulele, learning and teaching it at the same time. It feels like a natural fit for me, I do love it!

My youngest son passed away at age 25, three years’ ago this January.  He was a wonderful presence in my life, and I find myself struggling to maintain spiritual practices, such as prayer, meditation, journaling, dreaming, writing songs, and being with the ones I love, as a way to stay connected with him and his older brother who passed away at age 10, over 20 years ago, both together now, in the unseen, undying world.  The world of inspiration and love is where we abide together.

My oldest son just became a father, making me a grandmother, a year and a half ago, which has brought about the delight of getting to know my son in new ways, and the absolute delight of having a grandson, with whom I hang out weekly, and completely adore.

My husband and I are navigating several new waters, including the approach of retirement, and are finding common ground in pursuing our passions of music and visual art.

Please send your blessings this way, as I am for all of you, to be persistent in our pursuit of finding our passions and living our lives, making this world of existence, a work of art.

I now have a more “truthful” understanding of that time period, which of course comes with time, but I’ve started the process of writing a book that has allowed me to further explore my experiences around that time period.  The clouds have parted, again for me, as they did in 2008 when i wrote the lyrics to Sacred Spot.  It’s interesting how as clouds or delusions part one particular day, new clouds start to form.

I have to call it life, and refrain from calling the experience of delusion, good or bad.  It’s part of my education and development.  I am happy now that I have come out on the other side of the delusion, relieved, even liberated.  So if I look at the liberation as a gift from life, then complaining or feeling guilty about how I allowed myself to be manipulated by someone, is like turning down and discrediting the gift.  Everything in my life has brought me to where I am now.

Although a painful process at times, I am even more aware of my own manipulation of others, now that I’ve experienced it. I’m also learning to protect myself from the manipulations and delusions of others.

I haven’t posted the words and music to “Like a Vampire” yet, but it was written about manipulation. Again, the message is for me to not be “Like a Vampire”, as well as to watch out for the various “vampires” that pop up in life.

The plan, with this blog, is to present to you video and audio casts that I have created over the last 2 years, as well as ongoing casts, mostly while driving to work in my car, that follow my path of finding and living your artistic passion, which currently happens to be singing and songwriting.
