Bangladesh is introducing SWAT in it's Security Forces. Do you know What is SWAT ? Just follow below :

A S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons And Tactics)^[1]^[2] team is an elite Special Operations tactical unit in American and some international law enforcement departments. They are trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular officers. Their duties include performing hostage rescues and counter-terrorism operations, serving high risk arrest and search warrants, subduing barricaded suspects, and engaging heavily-armed criminals. A SWAT team is often equipped with specialized firearms including assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, carbines, riot control agents, stun grenades, and high-powered rifles for snipers. They have specialized equipment including heavy body armor, entry tools, armored vehicles, advanced night vision optics, and motion detectors for covertly determining the positions of hostages or hostage takers inside of an enclosed structure.

The first SWAT team was established in the Los Angeles Police Department in 1968. Since then, many American police departments, especially in major cities and at the federal and state-levels of government, have established their own elite units under various names; these units, regardless of their official name, are referred to collectively as SWAT teams in colloquial usage.

Bangladeshi apparel exporters are happy that India will import 14 million pieces of duty free garments annually, as against eight million now, following talks held during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi.

'This time, we did not see any negative attitude from India as we did in the past,' said Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Abdus Salam Murshedy here.

'We will soon hold some single-country trade fairs in some large Indian cities to let them know our capacity,' Murshedy was quoted as saying by Star Online Thursday.

Nearly 50 business leaders accompanied the Bangladeshi prime minister during her visit to India Jan 10-13.

Fazlul Hoque, president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, told reporters here that currently, India's retail apparel market is worth $27 billion with an annual growth rate of 18 percent.

'We are amazed to see the size of India's retail apparel market and its growth rate,' Hoque said.

Standard Bank chairman Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed described the trip as successful, adding: 'Bilateral relationships have reached a new height. Long standing distrust has gone.'

According to him, Indians are now interested in investing in Bangladesh.

Amjad Khan Chowdhury, chief executive of Pran-RFL, the largest Bangladeshi exporter to India, is also upbeat.

'We have a strong business opportunity in India,' Chowdhury said, and identified the India's north-eastern states as potential Bangladesh's market.

Pran-RFL, which produces a variety of consumer products, is also trying to set up a factory in Tripura. But the Bangladesh government is not allowing 'export of capital', Chowdhury alleged.

Standard Bank's Ahmed said Bangladesh should allow India, Nepal and Bhutan to use its ports, arguing that this would not only boost revenue earnings but also improve infrastructure.

Currently, those ports are seriously under-used, he said.

Football is popular in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is currently ranked 174th in the FIFA ranking. Bangladesh became the 2003 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) champion. SAFF includes Southern Asian countries and other countries from Asia.

The Bangladesh national football team is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation. It is a member of the AFC. The side has yet to qualify for a FIFA World Cup tournament. They were eliminated in the first round of their only Asian Cup appearance to date in 1980. As is the case elsewhere on the subcontinent, the national football team stands somewhat in the shadow of the country's test cricket team. The team was founded in 1972, and joined FIFA in 1974.

Apart from wins over Indonesia and Thailand in their first ever World Cup qualification in 1986, Bangladesh has struggled to impose itself. At the regional level, they have also remained in the second echelon while in Asia, the team is constantly trying to avoid being the wooden spoon of their group.

However, the association is currently working hand in hand with the Vision Asia programme which will see it restructuring its domestic league as well as initiating more youth programmes. These initiatives are coming at the right time for football in Bangladesh.

Football in Bangladesh has a huge following which was exemplified when the national team made history in their victory at the South Asian Football Federation Cup in 2003. The South Asia side won the final via penalties over Maldives before 50,000 home supporters.

Kazi Salahuddin is Bangladesh's most famous footballer, having played professional football in Hong Kong, the first Bangldeshi player to ever do so. [Presently President of Bangladesh Football Federation].

Kabaddi : National Sports in Bangladesh

Kabaddi is a team game. Two teams of seven players occupy opposite halves of a field of 12.5m x 10m divided by a line into two halves. The teams take turns sending a "raider" across to the opposite team's half, where the goal is to tag or wrestle ("capture") members of the opposite team before returning to the home half. Tagged members are "out" and are sent off the field. The raider must not take a breath during the raid, and must prove it by constantly chanting (called 'cant' or 'dak') during the raid. Meanwhile, the defenders must form a chain, for example by linking hands; if the chain is broken, a member of the defending team is sent off. The goal of the defenders is to stop the raider from returning to the home side before taking a breath.

n 1980, Bangladesh became the runners-up in the first Asian Kabaddi Championship and India emerged as the champion. Bangladesh became runners-up again in the next Asian Kabaddi Championship held in 1985 at Jaipur, India.

Bangladeshi kabaddi team won the bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games.
