Somehow with regret in my heart, but I feel that blogging no longer gives me the satisfaction it gave me at the start and the many years after. I put a lot of time into all of my posts and wrote with an endless pleasure. I just couldn’t stop! I loved it!

But in recent years I feel haunted by time, lacking in time to prepare a nice post, as I feel more and more absorbed in running our business.

And certainly because of other social media such as Instagram and Facebook, which actually make it easier to bring my story to you.

That’s why I decided to stop my blog but to continue Belgian Pearls to be active on other social media, especially on Instagram, giving me more time to share my stories with you.

I’m so very grateful for the many people I’ve learned to know from all over the world, for the friendship that was built, for the people I’ve actually met in person, this all through blogging over the past 15 years!

A heartfelt thank you to all of you, my loyal followers and friends, for reading this blog for so many years, for your interest in my stories, for all your nice and sweet comments, for your support, for encouraging me to go on with my blog for so many years and for your friendship. This has meant so much to me and has made this 15 year journey incredibly worthwhile. Without you, Belgian Pearls would have been meaningless!

 Today I am celebrating 15 years of Belgian Pearls blog. I launched my blog 15 years ago and I wrote my first post on July 31st, 2009.

It seems like yesterday I was sitting in the garden trying to come up with that very first post! I still can’t believe that I have blogged for all these years.

 I am very grateful for all the things I have experienced since the launch of Belgian Pearls. I got to know so many wonderful people from around the globe. Some of them became good friends.

And I learned so much especially from other bloggers in the field of interior design and architecture.

I am very pleased to let you know that 2 new tables have been added to my collection!

In addition to the already existing Diane Table, the Ethel Table and the Valerie Table are now also part of Belgian Pearls Home Collection.

All tables are made in our workshop in Belgium.

The Diane Table is made of solid oak finished with colorless matt varnish. This table has a fixed section and can be enlarged by two hinged leaves. When folded up, each leaf is supported by slightly tapering, rotating legs that swing out from the center. The table comes in different sizes.

The Valerie Table is an indoor/outdoor table and can be made from solid natural oak or solid natural iroko wood. Iroko wood is a very sustainable timber that is suitable for all year round weather conditions, this in case you would love to have your table outside even in winter. The table comes in different sizes.

Isn’t it nice to be able to make beautiful bouquets from your own garden roses every year again? I really enjoy the beauty of roses and their fantastic fresh scent.

In recent years I have shared many photos of our roses with you, and even this year, I can’t resist letting you enjoy these beauties.

From the beginning of May to the end of October, the ‘Aspirin’ roses are growing luxuriantly along our garden path. As you can see in both pictures here below.

The ‘Aspirin’ rose is a ground-covering rose. It has medium-sized semi-double flowers, white with a hint of pink. A very beautiful dark green glossy foliage and sturdy branches. It is a rich and well-flowering strong rose that is absolutely suitable for planting in borders and beds, flowering from May to the end of October.

In the picture here below you can see our ‘Kir Royal’ rose climbing along our terrace façade.

A climbing rose that you can really enjoy when the flowers have opened completely. When the silky pink semi-double flower opens, beautiful strips appear on the inside of each petal. This climbing rose is extremely suitable for growing pergolas, trees and fencing and it tolerates summer temperatures very well. Flowering in June, July and August.

A ‘Kir Royal’ rose in our living room. Here you can see the stripes on the petals.

  The antique French rose ‘Madame Isaac Pereire’, named after the wife of a French banker, has cabbagey flowers with a very strong deep rose perfume extract. Flowering from June to October.

Our other antique roses as the ‘Ullrich Brunner’ and ‘Honorine de Brabant’ are not doing so well this year, probably because it has rained a lot here in Belgium in recent weeks and they had a lack of sunlight.

 The English rose ‘Aphrodite’ is a re-blooming fragrant rose with strongly double pink to apricot pink flowers.
The leaves are glossy green. Flowering from June to October.

‘Aphrodite’ roses

‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ is a popular, ancient variety named after Empress Joséphine’s famous garden at Malmaison. The flowers are large and soft pink and become lighter after a while. They are first bowl-shaped, but open flat and quartered. This rose has a powerful scent. Flowering from June to October and is excellent in warmer zones.

It’s time to show you some pictures of our awakening garden.

Every year again I so enjoy to see the first trees, flowers and roses blooming and every year I take a lot of pictures.

I have always loved plane trees and the first tree we ever planted was this plane tree at the front of our home.

The Climbing Hydrangea feels very happy in this shaded corner at the front side of our home.

These pictures of the Wisteria on the side of our home I took a few days ago. In the meantime it has rained heavily again and it has lost almost all its flowers.

The braided branches at the bottom are so beautiful!

Our Rhododendrons are in full bloom.

Every now and then I bring a few of its beautiful colored flowers into the house.

Our grape vine on the back terrace is growing fast now!

And yes! Finally! Our first peony ‘Festina Maxima’ today!

The ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ and ‘Karl Rosenfeldt’ peonies will follow soon!

The ‘Snow White’ roses are always the first roses to bloom in our garden.

And almost at the same time, our beautiful ‘Aspirin’ roses start to bloom on both sides of our garden path.

‘Aspirin’ roses are very strong roses and you can enjoy them until the month of November. I love to make beautiful tiny bouquets from these beauties.

One of the French Bourbon roses I absolutely love is this ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ rose.

Its color goes from white to cream, blushed with pink. This ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ is excellent in warmer zones.

Another one of our beautiful antique roses I do love is the ‘Madame Isaac Pereire’ rose.

Isn’t it a beauty?

Within a few weeks, I will come back with pictures of the other roses in our garden.

This week I was in London, as our company Lefèvre Interiors is currently working on a project in the city center. I fortunately found a few hours to stroll around before leaving for home.

Although I have been to Pimlico Road area quite a few times, I still wanted to visit some showrooms located there.

As we are working on a mutual project, I started with a visit to the shop of renowned design studio Paolo Moschino Ltd, located at Holbein Place. I was amazed by their beautiful fabric collection I saw with my own eyes for the first time! Their highest-quality fabric collection include a feast for the eye selection of linens, silks, cottons, and velvets.

Then I headed to the showroom of Chelsea Textiles, also one of my favorite fabric brands. In addition to their fabrics, they also offer a beautiful collection of furniture, such as this bronze octagonal table, inspired by the original table commissioned to Diego Giacometti (1902-1985) by Hubert de Givenchy in 1983.

Visiting the Ochre showroom, my eyes fell on this beautiful looking chaise longue, upholstered in a combination of velvet and horsehair fabric. Just beautiful!

Every time stepping inside the shop of Jamb., I am overwhelmed by all their beautiful antique pieces. From furniture to mantelpieces and to lighting, every piece has been carefully selected. Did you know that they also offer a nice range of reproduction chimney pieces? As this Roma Black marble chimney based on an Italian Renaissance bolection.

Finally, I visited the beautiful showroom of Cox London. Their shop window (photo 1 below) with the beautiful handmade Oak Tree Chandelier hanging above their wrought iron Grove Table was an absolute eye-catcher! In the second photo below you can see their Large Oak Wall Light, hand made of pressed tole and finished in an organic patina of Spring and Autumn hues.

On the way to the railway station, we stopped in the beautiful Mayfair area. Wherever I go, my eyes are always drawn to beautiful bouquets. So I wanted to share these pictures I took strolling around at Mayfair.
