A clean, clear software demo can explain how it works, what features it has and teach people how to do something.

Zooms, highlights, cursor effects and emphasis add cladirty to "How To" videos. Even pacing with short breaks allows for improved retention.

Video tutorials can cost as little as $10 for a basic explainer. And a premium, polished tutorial can cost as little as $50 depending on length and project requirements. See what's possible in this Step by Step Turorial Video...

Website tips for this post:

Step by step tutorial videos are easy to make. If you have a well developed system with lots of power, plenty of disc space, hi-end software and quality editing skills. Got that!

A tutorial video is boring. NOT, If you have the right editor. Teaching videos depend upon clarity and thuroughness. BWT Videos specializes in content retention through quality video production. Got That!

Tutorial videos save time and money. When you need customer support, product descriptions, software demonstsrations or technical descriptions a video does it all. Plus they show visual and audio clues not possible with words alone. Got That Too!

Are you looking to create your own step by step or screencast tutorial videos? Then you should definitely check out how I do it on this next page...

DaVinci Resolve 21b New Photo Page Tips

DaVinci Resolve 21b brings a new page to the package called "Photo." On the photo page. This new page directly addresses photo editing and retouching. It is a first release and is in beta so there may be bugs and room for improvement. I tried it out and came up with this video...

DIA Statues Photo Album

Website tips for this post:

<IMG SRC="image-files/dr-photo-panel-364x500.png" ALT="DaVinci Resolve Photo Attributes Panel" width=364" height="500" class="imgBorder shadow">
Traditional photo editing can be a lot of work. Typically you could change duration, apply text, color correct, resize, add transitions and animate each one individually. The "Photo" page ties all these operations into DR21b on one neat page. It is like a combination of a cinematic editor and a photo album creator.

Photos can be accessed across 4 pages. Photo, Color, Fusion and Deliver. Which allows you the full range of capabilities including adding text, motion, effects and optimizing color and white balance. Especially usefull when matching still photos with video footage.

Exporting on the Deliver page has a photo album option under custom export. Where you can export the entire album or selected images. Which includes all the changes you made to your images.

All the changes you make to your images are applied to the Media Pool. Attributes remain the same over various timelines. This means that whatever changes you did on the photo page will be the same everywhere you use them.

Adding effects are a simple drag and drop on your image. For instance did you see the Sun poking through on the first image. I added that with the "Lens Flare" effect, to achieve that look. The list of effects available are too numerous to list here. but rest assured the list is lengthy.

While the Photo page is a huge welcome addition to DaVinci Resolve it is going to be somewhat limited due to the fact it is a free upgrade. BMD could have charged a subscription fee but decided not to. So, you can rule out any heavy AI manipulation as being cost prohibitive.

Also, the concept is to edit photos in a video editing environment. Not create fantasitc full length photo animations. Although you could do that, you would need to have a lot of power and memory on your computer as cloud based AI generation is not going to happen.

Are you interested in grading or editing a photo album? Contact me at BWT Videos...

Camtasia 2026 Certification With Audiate

Camtasia 2026 Certification released early 2026 has jumped to a new level with more refined AI tools. Chief among these is Audiate. As the most significant upgrade is audio based. Which makes sense considering visual editing revolves around the sound more than the other way around.

With Audiate you have a wide range of AI tools to work with. Including AI speech to text conversion with textual editing capabilities and AI voice and character generation. That means you can input a written script and output an AI generated avatar spokesperson tutorial with narration, if you were so inclined.

Speed Up Editing with Camtasia Audiatel

Or, you can edit an existing narration lickity split with slick voice analizer tools. Create polished tutorials that sync audio narration with AI generated avatars. Eliminate or silence uhs, ums, ahs and pauses.

Sounds simple, right? Well it isn't, I recommend taking the Camtasia Certification course first. It ain't as easy as it looks. This comprehensive course walks you step by step through how to use Camtasia 2026 effectively. I took the course and came up with this video I call Camtasia Menagerie. Check it out...

Camtasia Certification Course includes 11 learning modules with quizzes and source materials. You get a journey from beginning a project to recording your camera and screen to editing, exporting and publishing a polished masterpiece. When finished you get a Certificate of Completion like this one.

This Camtasia Certification course covers most but not every aspect of recording and editing a screencast video. It is broken down into specific areas of study including screen recording, video editing, audio editing, visual effects, captioning, animation, asset management and publishing. The curricullum is organized to walk you through creation of a video from intro to final delivery.

Website tips for this post are:

As mentioned earlier Audiate is an AI based editing tool that is separate from Camtasia. You have to get a subscription for each year you wish to use it. There are different levels you can pay for.

The basic level has some features and succeeding levels have greater capabilities. The top or Pro level includes text-to-speech voice narration, AI generated lip synced avatars and script generation.

The only downside to Audiate is the recurring subscription fees. There are similar 3rd party products on the market that are less expensive and one time only charge. But are not integrated into Camtasia.

If you have a Camtasia subscription that is "Business" level or higher you can download Audiate for free and take advantage of some of the script editing functions. But not the AI character or script generation tools.

Once again Camtasia tops out the class of screen recording video editors. Excellent for making tutorials and general video editing. Some may argue that Camtasia is Not a high end editor (compared to others). Camtasia is actually a complex NLE (non-liear editor) with track stacking timeline editing construction.

Camtasia actually is very well equipped for advanced animation, motion graphics and audio sweetening. Learn how to use Camtasia to make screen recording tutorials on the next page...

Meanwhile I have been using different methods to accomplish what this block does in style.

What am I talking about? An offer box for a video creation service. Various optons are selected in the tab menu to switch between different levels of the service. Here it is...

I made this long before AI came along and recall having difficultiy debugging it properly. So, I asked MS Copilot for help. It did not. Thank goodness I knew how to fix it myself.
Did you know FAQ's are an important tool in every webmasters arsenal? FAQ's eliminate back and forth emails as well as reducing time to solutions. FAQ's can answer questions before they are asked. They can convey a level of service provided, turnaround time, intricate details and quick answers.

New in FAQ & A are the most popular questions we recieved about creating screen recording tutorials. I found that the FAQ has greatly reduced the time I spend supporting customers and defining processes. Also, questions are more precise and detailed due to all the information conveyed in the FAQ.
Screen recording tutorials are one of the most effective ways to demonstrate software, teach workflows and share your expertise. You may be training employees, supporting customers or building an online course. Video tutorials help people learn quicker with less confusion.

This guide walks you through the process from planning to recording, editing, polishing and publishing a professional screen recording tutorial.

What Is A Screen Recording Tutorial?

A well made tutorial is clear, focused and easy to follow. Viewers should always know what comes next, and why it matters. The best tutorials combine clean visuals, mixed audio, good pacing and simple instructions to guide the viewer through a process. Great tutorials have:

A clear purpose or goal.

Clean visual with little clutter.

Logical step-by-step structure.

Clear narration or on-screen text.

Cursor emphasis and highlights.

Professional editing that highlights key actions.

Caption, titles and subtitles for improved retention.

How To Create Screen Recording Tutorials

Getting started requires you have a connected computer with plenty of memory and an office to work from. You will also need the right software to create videos with. For this guide we will use Camtasia, Snagit and DaVinci Resolve for examples and instructions.

Step 1. Pick the right tools:

<a href="https://techsmith.z6rjha.net/P0B1qM" target="_blank" rel=nofollow" title="Get Snagit Here">
There are many options for screen recording tools. They include:

<a href="https://techsmith.z6rjha.net/rEQQjy" target="_blank" rel=nofollow" title="Get Camtasia Here">Camtasia © all-in-one screen recorder, video editor and publishing software platform.

<A HREF="https://obsproject.com/" class="entrylink" target="_blank" rel=nofollow" title="Get OBS Studio Here">OBS Studio free and powerful software, ideal for long recordings. Open source freeware for video recording and live streaming.

<a href="https://techsmith.z6rjha.net/P0B1qM" target="_blank" rel=nofollow" title="Get Snagit Here">SnagIt © Graphic editor with powerful video and image tools.

***affiliate-disclaimer-short.shtml***

Step 2. Plan Your Tutorial

Before you create screen recording tutorials you want to have a clear goal in mind. Create an outline of the subject you want to cover, this will save time and prevent mistakes in the recording process. Your outline should define the goal and the steps to take.

Gather any media files you want to include. This includes files, videos, audio, examples, worksheets, software, etc. that will be relevant to the project. Decide whether you are going to narrate the video or have a generated voice over.

Determine your final output format you are delivering in, 4k, 2k, .mp4, .mov or whatever. Knowing what you want to end up with will guide your recording, editng and releasing processes.

Step 3. Record Your Screen

<a href="https://techsmith.z6rjha.net/rEQQjy" target="_blank" rel=nofollow" title="Get Camtasia Here">
A clean recording makes editing easier and improves viewer experience. The better the set up, the better the results. Here are some best practice tips to create great screen recordings:

Use a high Resolution monitor. Size matters in this case, the best resolution for screen recording is 4k (3840x2160px). Not too large of a monitor size is better in this case. Recommend a 24" to 27" screensize with 4k resolution for best results. Larger screen (ex. 55" widescreen) is too big to control screen activity well.

Keep in mind you will tracing your cursor over the screen. Large screen size makes this cumbersome at best. Smaller monitors afford more precise, easier cursor movements.

Clean your screen. Remove all icons, notifications and menu bars from your screen. Set the background to a neutral color like green or beige. Alternatively you may use a branded background. The reason for a solid color bg is it is clearly identifyible as a background screen.

Turn off notifications and background apps that are not necessary. Inadvertant system notifications can ruin your audio or spoil your screenshot. Put your phone into airplane mode. Turn off any noise makers like fans, furnaces and food prep machines.

Alternatively if you have Camtasia Business or DaVinci Resolve Studio you can apply noise reduction in audio post. Advanced video editors include professional audio editing tools.

Rehearse your script or technique before you record the actions. Rinse and repeat. Practice makes perfect. I cannot emphasis this enough. Unless you have unlimited time and data storage and are willing to use them to edit out mistakes, interruptions, sneezes, pauses and bad takes then practice your script before you create screen recording tutorials. That is, unless you are recording a live session.

If using a webcam and microphone adjust settings to optimum performance. Important! Take your time setting up your webcam. Planning is esstential. You might record the screen at 3840x2160px. But, your webcam may only be 2k (1920x1080px). This mismatch works perfectly for edit and release at 1920x1080px, but not so well if releasing in 4k.

Remove distractions before recording. Put phone in airplane mode so you can concentrate without interruption.

Step 4. Edit Your Tutorial

Editing is where you polish the tutorial and make it professional. Even simple changes can dramatically improve clarity. Here are some editing tips and techniques you could use to create screen recording tutorials:

Trim out mistakes and edit long pauses.

Add zooms to frame specific actions and highlight specific areas.

Use arrows, boxes, callouts and pointers to emphasize key moments.

Add cursor effects. Use the pointer, left and right mouse clicks to include emphasis, shadow, motion blur, smoothing, animation and sound.

Optimize audio levels. Add sound effects and noise reduce unwanted interference. You may want to the take time to edit out any coughs, sneezes and other annoying sounds.

Add transitions and segues to create pace and improve retention. Try not to overwhelm your audience with too much information all at once, or in one big chunk. Allowing time for viewers to absorb the info improves knowledge retention.

Tools like Camtasia and DaVinci Resolve make it easy to add these features to your tutorial. Combine these features to make professional tutorials.

Step 5. Narrations and Captions

Good narration is just as important as the visuals. You can record the narration during the visual recording or add it afterward. Both options are give you control over the delivery of the information. Here are some options and best practices for narration.

Live narration during recording. You will need a good microphone. Recommend a decent studio microphone to ensure sound quality. Voice narration in Camtasia can be assisted with on screen teleprompter type text script. You can read your script right on the screen while recording during playback.

Voice over added during editing. Can be human or text to speech. Add in the VO during post production. Both Camtasia and DaVinci Resolve have strong audio editing capabilities to help you create screen recording tutorials.

Add on screen text subtitles for silent tutorials. Great for short, simple directional videos. Great for accessibility reasons like hearing impaired, muted audio and language translation.

Dynamic captions or subtitles for accessibility. Camtasia and DaVinci Resolve have excellent solutions for adding animated lipsynced captions. It got even better with the incorporation of AI tools. It is now just as easy to create awesome motion graphics as it is to add subtitles.

For voiceover recording use a good microphone in a silent room without any distracting noises. For text to speech voice overs write concise instructions with pacing included. For 3d or AI animated voice presenters see... 3d Animated Avatars.

Step 6. Export and Publish

Once your video is ready for release publish it in the format that suits your audience. Here are some guidelines that you could follow.

Publish in 1080p format. This is a standard size that fits 99.5% of monitors. 1080p has other advantages like smaller file size and universal compatibility.

Publish in .mp4 format. This universally standardized format plays on all modern screens. Whereas other formats (.mov, wmf.) do not always play on every computer.

Set your frame rate to 30 frames per second for screen recording tutorials. This speed is perfectly matched with modern online platform standards. 30 fps reduces the occurrance of glitches, and eliminates incompatibility and conversion rate errors.

Publish your video tutorial on YouTube, Vimeo, Screencast, your website, social media or internal training portals.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Whether you are a professional or just beginning to create screen recording tutorials you may run into issues. Here are some tips to help you avoid mistakes:

Cluttered desktop. If you are recording with a webcam or cinema camera the desktop should appear clean and organized. You may want to dress up the desktop with common office tools or tools that fit the tutorial.

Not setting your screen resolution to 3840x2160 (4K) resolution. This size allows you to zoom in up to 50% before any degradation occurs. And able to zoom in about 75% before degradation is obvious. Using a smaller screen size limits the range your screen can be zoomed in.

Poor sound quality. Recording clear concise audio without any extraneous background noises and hums will support your presentation. Make sure you are getting good audio levels from your microphone when recording. Alternatively, audio post with noise reduction can be applied in editing. Also, you can use a text to speech engine to generate a clear, concise, evenly paced voice-over. Which has the advantage of language translation.

Recording too fast Speeding through a recording session too fast can leave viewers behind. A slow even pace is more readily absorbed. Even long pauses are acceptable because you can edit the pacing in post production. If you go too fast you may miss something important, and risk confusing the viewer.

Skipping important steps viewers need to see. If possible rehearse your spiel a few times before recording. Alternatively you can reshoot or add new scenes in the edit phase.

Failing to highlight key actions. Zooms, annotations and highlights are visual cues to the viewer that this action is important. Not pointing out key actions means your tutorial may miss the target.

Breaking long tutorials into segments. Long tutorials can be overwhelming while shorter lessons are better retained. Alternatively you can insert long intermissions, chapters and pauses to break up the pace and give your viewers a chance to absorb the information.

Over use of transitions or effects. Over editing a tutorial takes away from the goal intended. Makes it seem like the production itself was more important than the message it is trying to deliver.

No closing Call to Action CTA is important to really punch home the value of your tutorial. Your CTA should be in the form of a specific action to take. You can tell them where to go, what to do and how to act. Like and Scubscribe!

When to Hire a Professional Video Editor

Creating your own screen recording tutorials is a great skill to have. But it takes lot of time and effort to produce a truly professional, polished, large scale or training library tutorial.

3d Ecover Creator Pro, use to create amazing 3d eCovers directly from your PC In under 3 minutes. With just a few mouse clicks, you can skyrocket your product sales by as much as 72%. Beauty sells. You can too.

In a world where everyone is obsessed by self image, looks matter. And yes, people really do judge a book by it's cover. This software will quickly and easily transform your images into 3d ecovers that could make your products look like a million bucks!

3d boxes get attention. Strategically placed ecovers give your reader no choice but to look at them. Show off your products with great artwork. Turn undecided lookers into paying customers who trust you because your product looks great.

<iframe width="930" height="524" class="lazy imgBorder shadow" src="image-files/lazyplace.jpg" data-src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6cOEa5zyHww?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen>

If a picture is worth a thousand words, is a 3d box worth 3000 words? How about (3) 3d boxes, is that worth 9,000 words? Yup!!! Thats right. For example each of the images below is linked to a 1000 word page of content about that product. Those pages are in turn linked to other 1000 word pages of content. Which in turn are linked to... and so on and so on. In reality images only generate a few words. The ones you want the viewers to be thinking about when viewing your image. And those words can lead to... sales, learning and onboarding.

Want to make your own 3d ecovers, boxes and graphics? Then head on over to the next page...

BWT Videos designs every screen recording tutorial to help viewers remember more, understand better, and repeat tasks accurately. Our strategy is built around five core principles that shape how each tutorial is recorded, edited and delivered.

Short, targeted videos TechSmith (makers of Camtasia ©) recommends keeping videos focused on specific tasks to avoid overload. BWT Videos builds tutorials that move at a viewer-friendly pace and emphasize only the steps that matter.

Strong visual reinforcement. TechSmith highlights the importance of visual cues for memory. BWT Videos uses Camtasia's zooms, highlights, callouts, and cursor effects to guide attention.

Narration for better encoding TechSmith notes that narration activates auditory memory and improves recall. BWT Videos offers human narration, webcam overlays, or AI avatars to deliver clear, consistent voiceover. Send us your script and we will record an AI generated voiceover with emotions and neural inflections.

Replay friendly structure TechSmith stresses the value of replay and microlearning. BWT Videos produces modular, chapter friendly tutorials ideal for LMS platforms and searchable libraries. We build a chapter menu that is searchable with each video so viewers can quickly find the right information.

BWT Videos brings years of Camtasia experience, professional editing, and a massive asset library to ensure every tutorial looks modern and communicates clearly.

Turning Principles Into Practice With BWT Videos. BWT Videos shows exactly how a professional service can transform these learning principles into real, high impact tutorials. BWT Videos specializes in Camtasia based screen recording tutorials designed to teach, onboard, support customers, or demonstrate software with clarity.

A BWT Videos tutorial includes: Clean, intentional, polished screen recordings. Includes zooms, highlights, callouts, and cursor emphasis. Optional webcam or AI avatar presenter narration. Professional editing, sound mixing, and pacing complete the video tutorial.

4K or 2K delivery ready for LMS, YouTube, internal libraries, or customer help centers.
