Season 1 marked the beginning of what has now become Africa’s biggest talent show, which attracted nationwide attention. The show lasted for 7 days and saw the emergence of Miss Constance Olatunde (Konstance), a singer who won the ₦10 Million cash prize and eventually made her mark in the Afrobeats and contemporary R&B scene. The Chrysolite Dance Crew and Ikebudu Emmanuel, a comedian, emerged as runners-up with ₦3 Million and ₦2 Million prizes respectively.

Season 2 grew even bigger, offering a ₦7 Million cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai and Kenya. Esther Ugochi Kalu (Ugee Royalty), a gospel artist, took first place and went on to release her own gospel track. Spoken word artist Ibquake and comedian Masterseb also emerged as winners, walking away with ₦3 Million and ₦2 Million respectively

By Season 3, DTH had become a continental force, earning recognition across Africa and beyond. That season was won by Exoduz Dance Crew, who walked away with ₦10 Million, a brand-new car, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Kenya and the Maldives. The presence of 6-year-old Chikambo Obioma was particularly unforgettable, capturing international attention. Runners-up Mollythevibe and Promise Effiong, both singers, also earned prizes of ₦3 Million and ₦2 Million.

For Season 4, DTH decided to do things differently. From July 9 to July 18, 2025, the show embarked on its first Campus Tour, taking its search for young talents directly to Nigerian universities. Unlike previous years where contestants had to pay to register, the Campus Tour abolished registration fees, opening doors for more inclusive participation. Contestants simply had to post a one-minute performance video on social media and tag DTH, while the best performers were invited to perform live on their campuses. This groundbreaking approach ensured that talent was not limited by age, registration fees, or background.

From this process, 22 of Nigeria’s brightest and boldest talents were selected to compete in Season 4.

This year’s contestants reflect the diversity of African talent. Chris Vic, a gospel singer with a powerful voice, will go head-to-head with versatile vocalists like Glory Henry, T-Jay (Tuoyo John), BigSøma (Anih Favour Nmeasoma), Blessed Ikpi (Ekubi Blessed Ikpi), Paskal (Chukwu Paschal Ebube), Lexi (Favour Aguiyi), and Hailwin (Helen Godwin).

The spoken word scene is equally strong with performers like The Global Poet (Deborah Johnson), Isime Precious (Aigbogun Precious Isimeme), Neji Irregular (John Momnang Neji), and Loveth Liberty, who are all ready to move hearts with their words.

John Alford said he "never touched" either of the teenage girls who accused him, but the jury disagreed

John Alford has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage girls.

The London's Burning star had denied sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a friend's house in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, in April 2022.

The 53-year-old, of Holloway, north London, had been standing trial under his real name of John Shannon.

Appearing at St Albans Crown Court, Alford put his head in hands and shouted "wrong, I didn't do this" from the dock as the verdict was read out. He was told to expect a jail term when he is sentenced in December..

Alford played Billy Ray in the ITV fire brigade drama and Robbie Wright in the BBC's school series Grange Hill.

Prosecuting barrister Julie Whitby said both girls were drunk when the attacks happened.

She said Alford knew they were under 16, but he claimed in court that he "never touched" either girl.

The court heard that on 9 April 2022, Alford bought about £250 worth of food, alcohol and cigarettes from a nearby petrol station in the early hours of the morning.

This included a bottle of vodka which the victims subsequently drank.

Alford said he had been drinking with the friend at a nearby pub, and the girls were at the house having a sleepover with the friend's daughter.

The younger girl said Alford had sex with her in the garden and in the downstairs toilet.

Jurors were shown a video of the 14-year-old's police interview, in which she stated she had been raped.

The girl told the court she did not know Alford prior to the attack and had never had sex before.

"I told him to stop because I didn't want to have sex with an old man," she said.

She told police she asked him to stop "three or four times".

Both girls did not say anything about the alleged assaults immediately after they happened as they had been drinking "a fair amount of vodka", Ms Whitby said.

Odera, the missing brother of former Big Brother Naija reality show housemates,

the Mbadiwe twins, has been found in distressed condition.

This was made known by Lagos State Police Command on Thursday night.

Speaking in a statement on X, Babaseyi Oluseyi, the state police spokesman, explained that Odera was found in a distressed condition on Thursday at the Mile 2 area of the state.

“He has been reunited with his family members and is receiving medical attention,” the police spokesman added.

reports that Odera Mbadiwe was declared missing by his family on Wednesday, September 3rd, after his disappearance on September 1st.

May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie,

has taken legal action against Yinka Theisen, the former lover of Yul’s elder brother,

Linc Edochie, accusing her of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and defamation.

In a letter issued by her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, May alleged that Yinka had repeatedly made damaging posts about her on social media.

According to the notice, these posts not only spread false information but also amounted to calculated attempts to ridicule her, tarnish her reputation, and place her safety at risk through malicious threats and unfounded claims.

The letter further stated that Yinka’s alleged actions incited third parties to amplify the defamatory content, worsening the emotional and reputational damage May has suffered.

Through her lawyers, May is demanding that Yinka, immediately stop publishing harmful content about her, withdraw all previous defamatory posts, issue a public apology, and release retractions across all platforms where the claims were circulated.

Additionally, May is seeking ₦500 million in damages as compensation for the harm caused by the alleged cyber harassment.

NEW YORK (AP) — James Cameron recently turned 71 as he brought his third “Avatar” film, “Fire and Ash,” to the finish line.

Cameron first began developing “Avatar” more than 30 years ago. He started working on the first film in earnest 20 years ago. Production on “Fire and Ash,” which ran concurrently with 2022's “The Way of Water,” got underway eight years ago.

By any measure, “Avatar” is one of the largest undertakings ever by a filmmaker. It's maybe the only project that could make “Titanic” look like a modest one-off. Cameron has dedicated a huge chunk of his life to it. Now, as he prepares to unveil the latest chapter of his Na'vi opus on Dec. 19, Cameron is approaching what he calls a crossroads.

“As you get older you start to think of time in a slightly different way,” Cameron says from his 5,000-acre organic farm in New Zealand. “It’s not an infinite resource.”

Two more “Avatar” films are already written and have release dates, in 2029 and 2031. Right now, though, Cameron is focused on completing “Fire and Ash," which is almost guaranteed to be the biggest movie of the fall. To get “Avatar” — a franchise already worth $5.2 billion in worldwide tickets sales — back in the minds of moviegoers, “The Way of Water” will also be rereleased Oct. 3.

“As I told the brass at Disney, we’re right at the glide slope to land right on time for delivery," Cameron says. “The first film was a nightmare. Movie two was hectic. But here, I keep having to pinch myself because it’s all going well. The film is strong.”

There may be no filmmaker more at the nexus of past and future blockbuster making than Cameron. “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will arrive as Hollywood is reconciling itself to a new theatrical normal. In a movie industry of shrinking ambition, “Avatar,” an original spectacle that once was the wave of the future, is already beginning to look like an endangered species.

CAMERON: It was sort of: Do the “Avatar” saga or follow my interests more. I knew that “Avatar” would be all-consuming, and it has been. When I set down that path, a reasonable projection was eight to 10 years to get it all written and do movie two and movie three together and get them out. But it’s actually turned out to be more than that. It was a major commitment and decision to make for me as a life choice. But the “Avatar” movies reach people and they reach people with positive messaging. Not just positive about the environment but positive from the standpoint of humanity, empathy, spirituality, our connection to each other. And they’re beautiful. There’s a kind of magnetic draw into the film. It almost feels like it’s being pulled out of the audience’s dreams and subconscious state.

CAMERON: I was 19. I was in college and I had a very vivid dream of a bioluminescent forest with glowing moss that reacted to your feet and these little spinning lizards that floated around. It’s all in the movie, by the way. The reason it’s in the movie is because I got up and painted it. That later became the inspiration, just a few years later, for a science-fiction script. I said, “Hey I got this idea for a planet where everything glows at night.” We wrote that in and it never went away.

Years after that, when I was the CEO of Digital Domain, I wanted to push Digital Domain to be able to create CG worlds, CG humanoid creatures using performance capture. I just threw the kitchen sink into the treatment called “Avatar.” So it came from almost a Machiavellian reason. I was trying to drive a business model for the development of CG. Of course, the answer I got from my technical team was: “We are not ready to make this film. We may not be ready for years.” But it still served that inspirational purpose, which was: Well, how do we get ready?

Sean Kingston was indicted on Friday, alongside his mother, Janice Turner, in a Miami federal court.

The scheme allegedly involved making payments through banks that never went through, resulting in accruing an excess of $1 million in property.

The duo were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud and five counts of wire fraud. Following their alleged attempt to defraud sellers of high-end speciality vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased through fraudulent documents.

The United States Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Florida explained that the defendants “unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed monetary payment transfers.”

Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly called Mama G, has revealed root causes of incessant deaths among Nollywood actors.

Mama G, who made this statement in Lagos during the week, blamed the deaths on the carelessness and negligence on the part of the actors.

She also explained why she broke down in tears at the funeral rites of the late comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, which took place in his home town in Enugu State late last month.

She recalled how she had an encounter with her maker, who transformed her life and asked her to work for Him.

“It was in 2016 when God called me to work for Him. Then, I used to be a teacher in the church, but I didn’t climb the pulpit. It’s not something I can explain.

“God asked me to separate myself so that He wants to talk with me. I thought somebody was talking to me, but I discovered it was a voice coming from somewhere.

“It took me time to accept to submit myself for 21 days and it was extended to 30 days. My son reminded me that the owner of my life is asking me to separate myself for 21 days and I didn’t want to yield to his call and that He may make it 100 days.

“At that point, I quietly went in, and by the time I came out from those 30 days, I became a changed person. And how I knew He was the one who called me, he created a platform for me to appear on stage to give a testimony of What He did with me for 30 days. While I was giving the testimony, people started falling under the anointing.

“And after the encounter, other pastors and evangelists started inviting me to their programmes. That’s how I became an evangelist,” she narrated.

The actress, who is facing intense criticism online following her support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election, had engaged in a heated exchange with one X user identified as @Yarlo.

VeryDarkMan, who is also known as VDM, has faced multiple arrests for cyberbullying and defamation allegations.

His latest arrest occurred in Abuja on Sunday, for allegedly defaming an individual accused of scamming a Nigerian in the Diaspora.
