When a leaflet not in an envelope lands on the door mat – it is there for the householder to see. They have to pick it up. At this point your leaflet will be visible and if it is of interest or relevant they will not throw the leaflet away immediately but will either action it straight away or put it somewhere where they will see it again to action later. If the leaflet is in a plain envelope certainly a percentage of householders will open the envelope to see whats inside at this point they will see the information on the envelope and then keep or discard the leaflet depending on the relevance as above. Some people however will discard the leaflet immediately without opening because they will regard it straight away as letterbox spam. There is some agument that with the Royal Mail the envelope will get some benefit of being with post and therefore be opened? but will the considerable extra cost of enveloping generate enough extra enquiries to pay for it. I have seen offerings in evelopes over the years and often there is a reply paid card aswell so that could be some justification of the envelope. However in todays modern age I think all that is needed is a high quality leaflet with a freephone number and a website address. Dont put the leaflets in an envelope and use the money saved to send out a higher number of leaflets.

Franchising

Franchisors who are looking for people to join the franchise and help expand their business will not exclude potential franchisees just because they are young; much more important is their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and aptitude to develop as a business owner.
Tom Endean, marketing manager at the British Franchise Association (bfa), said: "Younger people may not have as many years of experience behind them, but the experience they do have may well be enough to prove themselves as professional business people and ideal franchisee candidates."
She said: "I worked my way up through the ranks at Domino's and became a store manager at 19. A couple of years later I won Domino's Manager of the Year Award for the UK and Ireland, and at this point I decided that I wanted to keep on pushing myself and own my own store. I bought my first store when I was 23 and have opened one every year since." (Article initially published in the Daily Express)
This is the most popular method of disseminating material, and it can be very successful if your company relies on the residential market. For instance, restaurants that offer takeaway services tend to find that door to door leaflet distribution works well, because households hang on to the flyer.
When planning a door to door leaflet distribution campaign, it is important you consider your geographical target area, as the wider you deliver literature, the more costly the exercise will be. Also, be practical: if you are a takeaway service that only offers free delivery within a five mile radius, there is little point to sending out flyers to people living further away than that cut off point.
Another method that is used less often, is hand to hand leaflet distribution, where a team physically passes out flyers to people walking by.
Hand to hand leafleting can work well, if you want to target a specific area e.g. if you’re a restaurant, and want to give out material on the street where your business is.
At Mailbox Nationwide, we offer a flexible approach to leaflet distribution, in order to tailor your delivery campaign to benefit your business within your budget.
