OZZFEST, the iconic global touring hard rock music festival launched more than 30 years ago by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, will return in 2027 with three historic stops:  the UK (Milton Keynes), U.S. (San Bernardino, CA) and for the first time ever in Mexico (Mexico City).

"Ozzy was the first to launch his own traveling metal festival,” says Sharon Osbourne, OZZFEST’s co-founder.  “And Ozzfest will always remain an important part of Ozzy’s legacy.”

Promoted by Live Nation, the 2027 dates will kick off next summer in the UK (OZZFEST’s spiritual home) Saturday, July 10, 2027 at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes, before returning to the U.S. Saturday, September 11, 2027 at Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA (where OZZFEST launched in 1996), and the highly anticipated first edition in Mexico City, MX Friday, September 18, 2027, at Estadio GNP Seguros.

The announcement comes off the back of the 30th anniversary of the inaugural OZZFEST in 1996. It will be the first since the passing of the late global rock icon OZZY OSBOURNE and his historic farewell concert “Back to the Beginning” in 2025 and the last OZZFEST, New Year’s Eve 2018 at The Forum in Los Angeles headlined by OZZY.  OZZFEST’s 2027 edition promises to keep the flames alive with a lineup curated by Sharon Osbourne. The full line-ups will be revealed in the coming months.

*STATEMENT FROM CHRIS KONTOS REGARDING DEPARTURE FROM FORBIDDEN*

This does not come easy for me. I have been trying to not have to do this and resolve many issues with Forbidden for quite some time now.
I have expressed my concerns to the band members as well as our management, the legal team and accounting.  Financial integrity, a lack of transparency of accounting, ongoing business decisions I did not agree with, or was not made aware of or told about till after the fact resulting in conflicts with the band. These issues have become irreconcilable.
I have decided that
I can no longer continue as a part of the band.

I am stepping down as the drummer for Forbidden effective immediately. 
I wish the band all the best moving forward.

I am incredibly proud of the music we created together including the new album and videos. I have never worked harder on a project in my life. I put my heart and soul into every bit of the work.  I'm truly grateful to the fans for nearly four years of incredible support.

I want to thank BLKIIBLK Records as well as everyone that helped the band over my time in Forbidden. This includes past band members, road crew, sound engineers, tour management, production companies and promoters. I'm very grateful and have a ton of appreciation and gratitude for you all. You know who you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm looking forward to what life has to offer moving forward. New opportunities and adventures.

I respectfully ask for privacy at this time and will have no further comment.

More than a century and a half later, Sheppard’s great-great-granddaughter, Keisha Lance Bottoms, is Georgia’s governor-elect.

Deb Haaland was elected governor of New Mexico tonight, becoming the first Native American woman ever elected governor of any state in American history. Not the first in New Mexico, and not the first in the Southwest -- the first in 250 years of American governors. Haaland is a 35th-generation New Mexican and a citizen of the Laguna Pueblo, whose people have lived on the land that is now New Mexico since long before there was a United States -- and who will now, for the first time, see one of their own lead the state.

She defeated Republican Gregg Hull by double digits. New Mexico made history of a second kind tonight, too: it became the first state ever to elect two women of color to its highest offices, with Stephanie Garcia Richard, the former public lands commissioner, as Haaland’s lieutenant governor. Haaland will also be the state’s third woman governor in a row.

Haaland has spent her career being the first. In 2018 she and Sharice Davids of Kansas became the first two Native American women ever elected to Congress, and in 2021 she became the first Native American Cabinet secretary in the nation's history, confirmed to lead the Interior Department -- the same agency that for generations carried out the removal and forced assimilation of Native children.

"A voice like mine has never been a Cabinet secretary or at the head of the Department of Interior," she wrote at the time. "Growing up in my mother's Pueblo household made me fierce. I'll be fierce for all of us." 

As secretary Haaland opened a first-of-its-kind federal investigation into the abuse of Native children at government-run boarding schools, forcing a reckoning with a history the country had spent a century avoiding -- one that had reached her own family, when her grandmother was taken as a child to one of those schools.

She raised her daughter as a single mother, relied on food stamps, and built a small salsa business to make ends meet. "I'm the only candidate who has been a single mom," she told voters during the campaign. "I'm the only candidate who worked across the aisle in Congress and got bills signed into law."

Haaland celebrated on Tuesday night before hundreds of supporters at a hotel on Laguna Pueblo land west of Albuquerque. “New Mexico’s brightest days are ahead of us,” she told the crowd, “because I believe in a New Mexico that works for all New Mexicans.” Of the generations of Native Americans who never lived to see a night like this one, she has said simply: “It is our time.”

Let’s celebrate the first, and certainly not the last, blow to Trump’s power. In fact, the late Senator Lindsey Graham predicted this moment 10 years ago:
"If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed...and we will deserve it." (Sen. Lindsey Graham on May 3, 2016)
It might be called poetic justice that his sister just lost his South Carolina Senate seat. It will be the first time since 1960 that a Republican has not held that seat.
But history was made all over the map. Keisha Lance Bottoms in Georgia will the country’s first Black, female governor. Chris Pappas in New Hampshire will be the country’s first openly gay male U.S. senator. Juliana Stratton won in Illinois, making her and Tammy Duckworth the first two women of color to represent the same state in the Senate. And it was even the first time a Pope has voted in a U.S. election!
The good news will keep rolling in throughout today and tomorrow. There’s more than I could ever fit in one piece.
But there’s one thing I do know: it’s time to save our democracy!
And it starts with accountability. Democrats will have the solemn responsibility to investigate the mind-blowing corruption of the Trump administration. There’s no telling how deep it goes and there will be more than any one committee can handle.
And then comes the media. Let’s be honest, legacy media has failed spectacularly at holding Donald Trump accountable the last 18 months. That’s why independent media has absolutely thrived.
My independent journalism has steadfastly held this administration accountable, calling balls and strikes over their incompetence, corruption, and cruelty.
And what do I have to show for it? Over the last 18 months I’ve been threatened, taunted, investigated, and sued by MAGA. But it didn’t stop me from coming to you with the truth every single day.

I refused to be silenced.
Just like you all refused to look away from what was happening in America.

We are proud to present "T.S / Testimonium XII-Somniatoris Damnati, the first track unveiled from "Stases" , the debut album by the entity NΩX and the opening chapter of a new musical adventure... an incursion into territories where sonic matter distorts and decays, reaching its most extreme and sinister frontiers. NΩX was born of this necessity: to push the exploration of the abyss ever further, to probe the most inhospitable strata of sound, and to give form to that which lies dormant in the most obscure recesses of our musical universe.

We are fully aware that many will question the decision not to release this music under the name Blut aus Nord, given the unmistakable lineage. The answer is simple: this is not our intention. BaN's short- and medium-term plans are taking an entirely different direction. Nevertheless, NΩX is inextricably linked to Blut aus Nord: it is a genuine offshoot, taking shape through its most obscure echoes... This week on Into The Necrosphere, I’m joined by Sina Winter, the man behind From The Vastland • Band, for a deep dive into one of the most fascinating projects in contemporary black metal. We discuss the band's latest album, Servant Of Ahriman, an ambitious concept record rooted in ancient Persian mythology. Sina talks me through the symbolism and cultural significance of the story, the suppression of Iran's pre-Islamic heritage, and the extraordinary circumstances that shaped his own journey from making black metal in a country where the music is forbidden to finding his place in the Norwegian scene. Along the way, we get into morality police arrests, threats from the Iranian authorities, the making of the acclaimed Blackhearts documentary, and the remarkable chain of events that ultimately brought him to Norway.

Then, on my Weekly News Rant, we kick things off with the long-awaited return of Leviathan and a first taste of the forthcoming Die To This, before getting into new music from Azarath, 200 Stab Wounds, Golgothan Remains, Gates Of Ishtar, OVÁTE, Death Barrel, Kalt Vindur and more. I also give you my thoughts on the new Carnivore A.D. single, run through some of my most anticipated releases for 2027, and tackle a couple of listener questions, including my ten favourite Type O Negative songs.
