Hello guys how have you been? You've been good? Finally I'd finished the mid term exam so I have been able to make new one and put it on here. Sorry I've recorded it in Korean again but I will definitely make new one in English ha ha ha. I've already tasted it how sweat recording in Korean is.

This episode is about how to ask and answer " How was or how is your exam?" in Korean or it could be " how did your exam go?" I know it would be hard so far for you who have studied Korean for couple of months. However learning Korean in Korean would be better than in English so please be patient ( Do not throw things away even you feel really frustrated) and try to pick up the rhythm of Korean.

There is an answer to solve those problem.

Here in Korea there are loads who went to England, Australia, Canada, U.S.A and so on to study English. Thankfully most of them want to keep using English. Why don't you join language Exchange Programme? I've made a discussion room for language exchange programme on face book. If you want to be involved this programme join the Sparkling Korean community on the face book and write something about you so that I can find someone who fits for you more easily.

But I am not sure I can let you all meet Korean who has got enough English skill to have conversation with you. It could take long time but you know typing few words doesn't cost money at all. ㅋㅋ

CheerLeaders for LG Twins

I went to the Jamsil Baseball stadium to see the game a week ago. Me and my friends sat in the side of Home team, LG Twins. It was the match of Samsung Lions against LG Twins. The game was so annoying that I was nearly fed up with watching it. The score was five nil. Samsung was far ahead of LG and LG seemed they gave up this match. Lots of mistakes had been sucking them into the humiliating defeat. People who cheered LG looked like they were at funeral.

However! My little angels came in front of us.

Cheerleader is 치어리더 in Korean.
Baseball, we call it " 야구"
야구장 is baseball stadium, foot ball is 축구 so you can make football stadium in your own.
축구 장 is football stadium. Basket ball is 농구.what is basket ball stadium? 농구장!

Hello everyone. 지원 again. Today we'll learn how to ask " Are you free tomorrow?" in Korean. Before you plan to meet up your friend you probably ask his or her free time of your friend.

I recorded this episode in Korean. it has nothing to do with I feel procrastinated to record in English at all. I believe English has to be learnt in English it's vise and versa. Get all hassle away from you. You don't need to think twice to use Korean. Try to think everything in Korean and speak in Korean in the first place as you speak Korean.

Please download the worksheet and try to speak every Korean with me during you listen to this episode. It doesn't matter you don't understand. If you want to step up your Korean skill, the first thing you must do is getting a skill that you can read and pronounce every words and letter in your own. So reading through the script while you are listening this episode will be helpful.

Korean Traditional Percussion Team 사물놀이

사물놀이(Samulnori) is a genre of traditional percussion music originating in Korea. The word 사물 means "four objects" and 놀이 means "play" 사물놀이 is always performed with four traditional Korean musical instruments. (Wikipedia)

Let's get straightforward. I'd say "사물놀이" is "haveing fun, rock'n roll" with four instruments. You got it? If you see the video below you mgiht see how much they enjoy themselves during whole performance.

Hello How are you doing? How's weather over there? Here, South Korea weather's turned into spring it's so nice. Sometime the temperature drops down so quick but it gets warmer again. I love spring, autumn rather than summer, winter. Just not good for hanging out. Summer is horrible. High humidity, monsoon, high temperature are where you get annoyed without any reason.

One of my friend 진선 helped me to record. So you will hear proper conversation between two people.....

안녕 Listeners! 안녕하세요 Listeners! What's the difference between two? Yeah the first one is 반말 and second one is 높임말. I bet one of the crazy things to learn Korean is studying 반말 and 높임말. Because Korean is one of the most weird languages which has got different style of language you should choose regarding to a situation in which you are. I can't come up with any other words for explaining existence of 반말 and 높임말. Korean grows up with it but you are not that's why you feel hard to study it. Does mean there are no way to know how random our 반말 and 높임말 rule is.

Anyway to sort out the problem of you've got about 반말 and 높임말, we'll start with the question from Japan asking us difference between 나 and 저. It's so important that I decided to share her question with you. then We'll study how read and say Korean numbers and which words should be used to say month and date.

I got this photo at Korean class at S University. Of course it shouldn't be disseminated on the internet because the author of this writing doesn't know I took his work. As I saw this first time I felt kind of frustration. It seemed done by intermediate student though he wrote it very clearly,
sincerely. Jesus Christ so I decided to show you this one in order to let you know what good writing is in Korean. I got a picture slightly out of focus so I copied it down on the web again and corrected its grammatical problem.

좋은 학생은 ......... 해야 해요
Good student should ..............

공부 많이 해야 해요 study hard
That's right. If you want to be called a good student you must study hard. If you use ~야 해요 at the end of the sentence you can make it having meaning of " should, or ought " kind of things. Let's look at the other one.

술 많이 마셔야 해요 drink a lot
It's actually half right half wrong. In fact if you study Korean and you want to improve your speaking skill drinking hell of 술 with Korean can be a perfect solution but it doesn't fit for all the situation.

일찍 일어나야 해요 get up early in the morning
Great He must be very good student. He seems study a lot and drink a lot to improve his language skill and furthermore he thinks waking up early in the morning to start up the day early than the other. Now he is perfectly ready to be a good student!

주말에 나이트에 가야해요 go to club in the weekend
Right! Good and clever student doesn't get stuck in the room all the time. Doing sports and dancing and singing can get student efficient for studying.

많이 여자 친구하고 만나야 해요 meet many girl friends
That's cool! I want to meet a girl friend too. hope many, anyway girl friend or boy friend can help student absorb the language. He knows how to learn language very well.

그래서 자야 해요.. so sleep with her

National Treasure No 1 숭례문 has been destroyed few days ago. It was more than shock and people you can say Korean are unleashing anger towards the government and arsonist. I feel like lot of feeling mixed up in mind so I had been hesitating whether I should put it on or not because of the shame. We are really ashamed of ourselves that we didn't protect 610 year-old 숭례문.

There are people putting some flowers in front of the destroyed old No1 treasure. There were no people harmed but it left us incurable scar in heart.

Traditional games In Korea

I went to Korean National Tourism Organization to see their event showing Korean traditional games in Korea and letting volunteer take part in any activities yesterday. There were few tourists enjoying themselves but not many. One of volunteers working as a translator at the venue said sometime the venue is really packed by tourists who want to have an experience play Korean traditional games.

Join the Korean Folk games on 설날

KNTO ( Korea National Tourism Organization) Has been hosting Korean Folk Game for foreigners who stay in Korea for many years in every 명절. 명절 literally means traditional holiday. So 명절 includes most famous Korean traditional holidays like 설, 추석 and so on.

Let's read the words on the post together.
전통 can be a noun or adjective. When 전통 is used as noun it means Tradition if it is adjective it will mean Traditional. 민속놀이 is a Folk Game. But do not translate 놀이 into game all the time. 놀이 is a kind of old fashioned word of game. When we refer to game we say it as it heard from English. We say 게임 /game/

Computer game is computer 게임, Board Game is board 게임 are going to be good examples for you.

You can use 민속 along with Food 음식, 옷 Clothing as well. So it will come to 민속 음식, 민속 옷.
마당 can be a ground for the game or activity. It is also old-fashioned word in Korean. So 전통 민속놀이 마당 is the ground for Korean traditional folk game in English. You got it?

If you go to the hall in KNTO located in 종로 in Seoul you can take a part in 민속놀이 like
제기차기, 윷놀이. Look at the pictures below.

Also you can try on Traditional Korean Clothing 한복 with various activity. I called them and checked the information. Ha Ha Ha!
There are proper translators at venue for English and Japanese and Chinese and they will let you know how to wear and how to do 민속놀이.

They said they give you 복주머니 as a souvenir it will look like this.

복주머니

What is 복주머니. Two words has combined in 복주머니. 복 is good luck or fortune and 주머니 is a basket. So you can understand what 복 주머니 means. My mom said people tends to hang a basket on the front door in 설날 long time ago for wishing that good luck will come into the basket new year.

I took this picture at toilet somewhere. In Seoul you might notice there are several notifications hanging on the wall at loo. Simply it says you should do something good for you or you should save the energy kind of things.

It was slightly weird though so I took it and introduce you this funny thing.

It say "가까이 다가서세요" literally means " come forward" or " come close" I suppose there are few people who like to shot far away from the toilet. If you see that kind of notification in Korea please go forward to toilet.

I do remember when I started to be taught English teacher in English class had me to remember that short conversation in a book first. Fortunately I realised that there were so many greetings in English after I left high school when I was 19. Put it another way I had thought people who live with English would be so bored to say " Hello " to their neighbours with one greeting till I graduated High school.

New government published new policy to fix up English education problem which has been messing up whole Korean students since South Korea was appeared on the world map. It is really controversial issue in Korea. I just hope new government's ambitious education policy
makes a difference.

So What I wanted to say is ...Let's study Korean!

I went to 잠실 where I used to live couple of days ago. There is a big McDonald located in the front for going through the town centre. I haven't been here for a one year due to my absence so I looked around to find something changed or not as if I went there first time. Then finally I found out something looking so interesting.

I am really wondering how many McDonald shops all over the world are doing home delivery service. It looked as though "Super Size Me" never have been showed in South Korea. I like McDonald though but just want to make a question mark whether it is really necessary or not.

To be honest I rather like Burger King.

Current iTune's uploading problem

Hello Guys there is a thing I need to inform you. I've got a few Emails from listener's telling me about SK episodes haven't downloaded from iTune. So I checked and shocked.

First I though it would be a temporary problem like the other day or the other time, which makes Podcasters feel really empty for a while till it is troubleshot. So I wished It would be all right and it would be able to be cured by super natural power. Yeah you guess it's turned out rubbish.

So what I am going to do? I'll solve it out in my own! It's gonna be challenge for me.

To turn the SK in iTune all right I need your help. If you are using the other software to get download SK episodes could you possibly let me know if you've got a same problem or not. If you have got same problem in another downloading widgets I can narrow down some possible stupid causes of problem if yours haven't any problem....

I will pray for super natural power to cure it again.

Just Joke. I am reading through many articles to sort it out.

I went to 성묘 ( Going to your ancestor's grave and offer a short ceremony to them) with my family, more actually with my father and mother without my bloody brother hadn't joined us. Mind you I don't blame him at all.

You can see Chinese letters on the black stone up on the grave. Do not think of Korean use Chinese a lot in their language the fact wouldn't inspire you at all. You need to learn neither reading nor writing Chinese letters. To be fair there are lots I can't read and understand either.

Chinese is a kind of language mostly used in Korea even Japan so long time ago like most my generation got to learn English as a international tool these day. Course my parents don't know English like I don't concern Chinese. That's why I am scared of Chinese economical boost-up who knows I might go to China to do volunteering job as like I went to England. bloody Hell.
