	DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WATER IT TOOK TO MAKE THIS? An astronomical amount of water is used for consumer products and food consumption known as Virtual Water or Water Footprint. This is the amount of water a person, company or nation uses to produce the commodities, goods and services consumed.
	BRUSHING YOUR TEETH Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons of water a month.
	THAWING FOOD Don't use running water to thaw food. Defrost food in the refrigerator for water efficiency and food safety.
	ONE WATER GLASS A DAY Designate one glass for your drinking water each day or refill a reusable water bottle. This will cut down on the number of glasses to wash.




	WATER CONSUMPTION IN SPORTS Sports facilities use enormous amounts of water to maintain the greens. Soccer fields, golf courses, football fields, baseball fields, tennis courts — all require a lot of water to keep them green. 	TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE Water your yard before 9am and after 4am to reduce evaporation and save about 750 gallons per month.
	CHECK FOR LEAKS Check your sprinkler system for leaks, overspray and broken sprinkler heads to save about 510 gallons per month.
	POOL COVERS Install covers on pools to reduce evaporation and save about 900 gallons per month.
	BROOM IS BETTER Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks to save approximately 4,500 gallons per month.
	PROTECT A LIMITED RESOURCE Although we are surrounded by water, most is not drinkable. In fact, only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water and of this, 2/3 is stored in ice caps and glaciers. That leaves only 1% of the world’s water available for drinking.
	KEEP WATER CLEAN To ensure that our water needs will always be met, we must protect out water supplies against the constant threat of pollution. This includes proper disposal of household hazardous waste and pharmaceuticals.
	SAVING BOTH WAYS Conserving water helps reduce the energy used for water conveyance, treatment and storage. Reducing hot water usage saves energy as well.
	CATCH AND RELEASE When waiting for the cold water tap to warm up, capture wasted water in a pitcher or watering can to water plants.
	TALKIN’ ABOUT THE CARWASH YEAH! When you wash your car, make sure to wash at a car wash that will properly recycle the soapy water.

	IS YOUR DISHWASHER FULL? If you have a dishwasher at your work place, make sure it is completely full before running it. Sometimes people can get in the habit of using the dishwasher at the end of every work day, but if there is only a half load of dirty dishes then it is a huge waste of water! Wait until there is a full load.
	POST SIGNS Post signs around the office to encourage water conservation in restrooms or work areas where water is used. Let people know just how many water they could be saving by doing simple things.
