Its just like Government to get it jackass backwards. Instead of working on jobs they have blown a whole year on fighting about heath care, and still have not got a darn thing done. Except piss off half of America people with their petty deals. That has nothing to do with helping the American people as a whole, but to line each others pockets with goodies for their respective states.

Most people don't even understand the idiots they have put in office to run this country. They have no idea how the everyday person lives day to day paycheck to paycheck. I'm not singling out anyone ,but the whole bunch of them, our government is a joke and half of the leaders should be throw out on the backsides with a big foot in their butts.

JOBS IS A FIRST

Lets talk about the real problem here JOBS. This country needs jobs now not tomorrow but yesterday. We need jobs that pay not low paying jobs either we need jobs that people can live off of. Jobs that will pay you 15 to 20 bucks an hour just for starters. If we need to go Green then lets do it and stop sitting on our hands and waiting for the privet sector to start something. Make the banks invest some of that money, that WE THE PEOPLE gave to them.

DRAGGING OUR FEET ON SOLAR

Lets start with solar and wind this is where we need to go and push hard to get this online all across this country in every city and town there should solar plants springing up with investment money from banks and government. With in ten years we would not need oil to run our homes and business.[WHY ARE WE DRAGGING OUR FEET HERE?]

BIGGER WIND IS NOT BETTER

Wind power can be produced easily by not going so big. Why in heck would you want a huge wind turbine behind your house that you have to look at, it real dose make a mess of the country side. When all we need t do is make some attractive 8 to 10 foot whorly gigs attached to smaller generators along the nations highways and under the bridges generating power as the traffic fly by at 65 plus MPH.[STUFF LIKE THIS WILL SUPPORT JOBS IN ALL AREAS FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS AND MORE.] Awesome opportunity for the dead tool industry and plastic manufacturing. We will need people to install and maintain creating jobs there as well.

Cell phones have gotten huge and just about every one has one but the biggest trouble I see here someone was not thinking very hard they would rather put up a huge tower that cost million of dollars for your cell phone, that they try to camouflage with fake pine limbs that stands out for miles and looks like crap.Instead why haven't they just made a deal with the phone company's for a little bit of the cut of their profit and use the telephone poles and use smaller antennas ever mile or two so they can cover more ground and make the highways safer for all by being able to call out everywhere in case your car breaks down or you have a problem beside the road someplace and need help.[SEE HERE AGAIN NOT THINKING ABOUT YOU THE PEOPLE JUST ABOUT PROFIT AND DON'T CARE IF YOU DIE STUCK OUT ON SOME BACK ROAD SOMEPLACE]

I know you have all heard that saying its been around for years. This is so true in network marketing. Every time a new contact hooks up with you, he or she wants to show you what they has to offer. 9 times out 10 it a reproduction of the some crap with a different twist.

I been messing with Marketing for nearly 15 years and have see it all. I have even been sucked in to a few of these SCAMS. The biggest was a 1200 dollar scam that left them fellas laughing all the way to the bank with my money. I did receive a product, but was hardly worth 1200 bucks believe me. Most if not all of the material you could have found on the Internet with a little searching for free. Just about 24 month ago I bought a product that most of us have seen on TV infomercial. Where the dude in his fifty's had all these pretty girls telling about all the money their members are making. Promising you 10 free websites and a bunch of goodies, then they want you to come up with 20,000 grand just for advertising. Not to many people have that kind money just to take a chance on something your not sure about with just some guys word.

One of the most often seen is the FREE SIGN UPS...SCAM. You see tons of these in the network marketing word. Yup sign up and look that's about all you will get in order to see the whole picture it will cost you either a one time fee (50.00 bucks or more} or a monthly subscription. {20.00 a month on average} If you were to buy in to all these programs your spouse would kick you out, your dog would bite you, and the bank will take your car and house. You would be living in a cardboard box in New York City not a place I want to be. Believe me they will never give up they just keep coming.

Paid social networking sites are probably one of the worst. Most you can join for free, but once a free member they have upgrades that range from 24.99 to 49.99 a month just so you can connect with all members and they will sell you ad space and pay per clicks that pretty much just work in their sites. They are already where you want to be, way a head of you using members as labors for their forums and blogs for traffic content, driving more and more lookers. So they are only going to give you what they must to keep traffic rolling. Their not there to help you but help themselves get bigger. The owner of these paid networks don't care if you sell one product or a hundred as long as you use there service.

Some marketers believe that their customer's are in network marketing world. Not true their customer's are people that don't market at all they are every day Internet users, that are looking for a products and will buy when they find it.

There are a few good programs out there and most are in the information and learning courses. One of these I found was a Internet marketing course called Profit Lance, good step by step with video to set you up nicely in marketing.(right now only 77 dollars, one time payment}

Another is the Jim Danial's Web Business Coaching Awesome coaching with free products,video Training and personal help. {GOOD CHOICE}

And My Personal favorite has the be the one I've personal made over 170,000 dollars on in the last 3 years starting out with just 2500'00 is learning how to trade futures and options in the markets is the Virtual Trading University

I have to get a kick of of how some people put so much time and effort into Social Network Marketing. Most dump the every minute into making list,friends,groups,and joining hundreds of social groups.

Think about it, what have they gained? Not a dam thing, they spend countless hours,days weeks and even years. You make friends that really don't want you as a friend and just want you to buy their product or service that you don't want. Because you are trying to sell yours to them, that they don't want.

Everyone plays the kiss ass game. They all play up to you as there buddy, and try to suck you in, by sending you hearts,smiles,loves and kisses to make you think they love you. Yes they love you to spend your money on them. That's the way they have been trained, and all that most of them know.

In all my years of Online Internet Marketing I have yet to meet anyone person that has really made it starting at the bottom. Most don't even make enough money to pay their rent or pay for their Internet connection. And a great share of them, put way more in then they will ever get back.

Now, there is money to be made in network marketing, but its not what some are told or made to believe.It is fine to make friends even better to make Groups and get them to join you on something you have in common or something that's popular. Be the leader start the groups and test them add admins to help out. {some people may be eager to work with you}You may want to join certain networks that lean to your special likes. Most if not all of these type of networks have certain groups that are really very active.

Some of the places that get tons of traffic are News and sport networks and most have blogs and discussions that you can comment on and leave your link to your site just for a example. And it don't stop there the list can go on forever.

So get off the wheel and look out side the box if you want to get on top, stop being on the some o some ride.

Globle Warming My Ass

I'm not sure what some of these money suckers are tiring to get, but I'm not falling for it. I'm not sure if Al Gore and his banned of ripe off artist, have really took the time to look outside. But where I'm living its not getting any warmer.

If anything the summers are getting shorter and the winters are getting longer and colder or at least it seams to be. Something I have noticed is the seasons are changing maybe not so much getting longer or shorter, but moving forward.

It seems as though Spring is coming later and Summer lasting longer and the leafs on the trees are hanging on closer to December. Winter snow is not really hitting hard until late December.

You can see this most in the animal herds in the northern parts of the world as the seasons change so do their habits change.

Take the North American Whitetail Deer. As a hunter by tradition our family's have hunted Whitetail for years and years. Hunters generally like to hunt for the bucks during time of the rut.

The rut is when the bucks gets all excited from the smell of the doe's that are ready to be bread. The doe give off a strong sent when she is ready for breeding called her mating cycle. This most often happens when the air drops below normal temperatures in the Northeast is generally below freezing for more than a couple of days to a week, and as hunters in the area have noticed,that the bucks are not going into rut as early as they use too. There was a time when I remember bucks coming into rut as early as late September and lasting until December. Depending on how far north you may go. Now, they are not going into rut until mid to late November or later and it may last until January.

These are signs that something is changing.

My thought is that the Earth witch is spinning like a giant top around the sun is slowly tipping over. The north pole is moving away from the sun ever so slowly moving more and more to a tipping point until one day we will tip over causing a great flushing of the earth as we know it. If anyone can survive I bet it will be one hell of a ride.

STOP Telemarketers Dead In Their Tracks

Picture this: you're sitting down to a quiet meal with
your family one evening.

Just as you reach for the mashed potatoes the phone rings.

It might be your mother calling with news on the upcoming
family reunion, so you make a mad dash for the phone just
in time to catch it before the answering machine picks up.

As you wipe mashed potatoes off the front of your best
shirt you hear an unfamiliar voice on the line start
pitching you about aluminum siding.

You've just experienced what many call "telemarketer hell!"

But, thanks to a new service offered by the FTC (Federal
Trade Commission), this little scenario should happen much
less often in the coming year.

Telemarketers may finally face a law they can't bypass when
it comes to calling consumers on the phone to solicit
business.

By harnessing the power of the Internet to eliminate layers
of paperwork and delays, the FTC created the "National Do
Not Call" registry where consumers can register not to
receive unsolicited sales calls.

Though the law exempts certain political, charitable and
other organizations, it does cover professional tele-
marketing companies and those calling on behalf of those
organizations.

After the plan gets fully implemented in October 2003, any
company found violating the law will face fines of up to
$11,000 per call.

Despite the fact the registry does not eliminate all
unsolicited calls, it does seem a wise move to sign up
(unless you enjoy chatting with telemarketers over your
mashed potatoes).

Log on to www.donotcall.gov and click the "Register a Phone
Number" link.

The service allows you to register up to 3 phone numbers,
so you can even put your cell phone on the do not call
list.

Once you register a phone number, the website will send you
a confirmation email with a link you must click before your
phone number gets added to the database.

Some common questions people ask about the National Do Not
Call Registry include:

How soon after I register will I notice a reduction in
calls?

If you register by August 31, 2003, you will start
receiving fewer telemarketing calls by October 1, 2003.

If you register after September 1, 2003, telemarketers
covered by the National Do Not Call Registry will have up
to three months from the date you register to stop calling
you.

How long until my phone number shows up in the registry?

After you register, your phone number will be available for
telemarketers to remove it from their call lists by the
next day.

Telemarketers will have up to three months to get your
phone number and remove it from their call lists.

What if a telemarketer calls me after I've signed up?

As long as you have the telemarketer's company name or
phone number you can file a complaint online through the
"File a Complaint" page on the www.donotcall.gov website.

Give Thanks to your Farmer This Thanksgiving

This pass week, millions of Americans would have gather around the Thanksgiving table with family and friends enjoying the harvest from the most bountiful food source in the world. But, did you know that this pass was the of week (November 20 - 26, 2009) is also National Farm-City Week? It’s a week designed by the National Farm City Council, to highlight the important roles that urban and rural partnerships play in food and fiber production and to enhance the links between farm families and urban residents.

This makes it a great time to say “thank-you” to those who grow our food. One of the best ways to do this is to support local agriculture and the local farmers in your area or state.

You may be reluctant to do this, since most news stories regarding farmers usually cast a negative light on them. However, many of our farmers practice sustainable agriculture and work toward preserving our natural resources, protecting the environment and conserving water. As I have written about several times here on Care2.com, they are the largest stewards of our land and are working to preserve what little open space is lef t.

But each year, their very existence is jeopardized by the unchecked growth of development, competition and dominance by large corporate farms, over-regulation at the state and federal level, and the apparent lack of concern for their survival by the general public.

American Farmland Trust (AFT), reports that every minute of every day, America loses two acres of farm and ranch land to development. And, as they point out, without local farms and farmland, there is no local food.

For the past several years, more people have been buying and eating locally grown produce, and overall there is more awareness that buying from local growers supports a healthy economy. But, this increased demand will take more farms, farmers, and farm land to grow more local food and that’s why supporting the work of groups like AFT is so important.

As you sit down at the table this Thanksgiving and give thanks for all of the good in your life, take the opportunity to thank our farmers. From the time you crawl out of the cotton sheets on your bed in the morning, to the time you brush your teeth at night, agriculture is there, so we must help to protect it.

You can make a difference by asking where your food is grown, who grew it, and when and how it was grown. Shop at your local farmers market; look for “Buy Local” campaigns at your local market, showing that the food was made in your region or state.

If you live in an area where there are farms and farm trails, take your children to petting zoos, pumpkin patches, Christmas tree farms, “u-pick” orchards and farms, and teach them where their food comes from. Initiate a farm day at your school, or invite a farmer to talk at your school or community organization.

You can also join American Farmland Trust’s “No Farms No Food” campaign and support their work in preserving farmland and local food.

One very good marketer I know has an excellent analysis of the types of people that exist when it comes to making money online. It contains some very good lessons and I'll go through each of the types here as I recall them. After you have read through them ask yourself: Which one am I and where do I want to be?

These people are clueless and are at the bottom level. They are ignorant and just waste their time. They have no knowledge of the money-making potential of the Internet. These people have a dead end job that they hate. But they don't want to invest in themselves and in educating themselves.This is the person who just uses the Internet to waste time. Watching videos, chatting with friends, reading with email, watching porn and so on. Basically, its just a pastime and a means of pleasure. They believe there is no way you can make money online because they think everything is a scam. They think that people who are making money are just lucky.

The Wanna-Be

These people have heard of the Internet, use it and want to make money. They go chasing after every new fad and every new marketing ploy. These people have ambition (which isn't really enough). These people want to make money, but they just don't have a clue how to. They get sucked into every scam and crappy idea. These people are easily excited and get involved in MLMs and jump from one thing to another, thinking that there is some magic solution which they can plugin and just make money, without any effort. These people do want to succeed, but they don't put the effort in. Their failure is that they think they can make lots of money if they can find the magic solution. These people just lack the knowledge of how to make money. They continue in this manner chasing a dream.

Advice to these people: If your life stinks, its your fault!
But if you take responsibility and take action, you can be successful.

The Pretend-To-Be

These people are living a lie. They are just "waiting for the right moment". They don't take any action because they feel that they have do things perfectly. They just don't want to make any mistakes. They're always talking about starting an Internet business, but in reality they don't have the guts to do it. These people may have a successful offline business, like for example a doctor or a lawyer. These people spend a lot of money going to seminars, buying courses and products. They are living a lie because they know a lot and can talk the talk, but they are scared to walk the walk. They have lots of excuses - "its not the right time now", "I need to learn a bit more". When you speak to them, you might be dazzled about what they know. But its all just knowledge - no action. They're scared of taking that leap and jumping in.

Advice to these people: You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going!
These people are really afraid, lack courage and don't want to take that jump. They just fool themselves by thinking that they are making progress by buying all the latest products and ebooks.

The Newbie

These people are actually on the track. These people have some knowledge and they have done their homework. They simply lack the technical know-how to get to where they want to be. They've bought ebooks and might have a few courses or seminars under their belt. They tend to follow "internet gurus", but the more they study, the more they get confused. These people don't realise that making money online is not about your product or service. Its all about the marketing. These people have a website, and may have their own product, or have resale rights products. But they don't know the specific details of marketing - tracking, conversion, copywriting secrets and technical issues. They are control freaks and want to do everything themselves. They think that if you want to do something right, you've got to do it yourself. In essence, they've just given themselves their own day job, and don't know how to take their business to the next level. These people are either losing money, or making a little amount of money. They're not really taking anything home. They are so bogged down in what they are doing that they lack vision. However, the good thing is that they are in the right direction.

Advice to these people: If you could do it on your own, you would already be there!
Get yourself some real marketing education. Take a course, study, learn the skills!

The Marketer

These people have a website, or websites that make them money. But all they have is a job and not a business. These people have an understanding of marketing, SEO, copywriting, tracking, conversion and so on. These people have been around and know what they are doing. They might be a leader in their particular niche and maybe making five figures per month. However, they think that they are doing really well, and have already accomplished the best that they can do. In reality, they're just holding themselves back and don't realise that the sky really is the limit. What they do is to compare themselves the previous four levels, and think they are the leaders of the pack. They just have low expectations of themselves and don't compare themselves to the levels that are higher than them. They don't want to stretch themselves outside of their comfort levels. They think they know all that there is to know. These people can be described as "playing not to lose, instead of playing to win". These people simply need someone else to mentor them and take them to the next level.

Advice to these people: You don't know what you don't know. You can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it. You need someone to take you to the next level.

The Master

These people are either millionaires or making a good six figure income. They have a vast amount of knowledge of online and offline marketing and have expert knowledge of direct response marketing. These are high performance people. They have depth of understanding in traffic generation, conversion, tracking and so on. These people could enter any niche market and possibly dominate it within a relatively short amount of time. These people have learnt that less control is more control, that is they focus on the things that they are best at (like the marketing) and outsource all the rest of the stuff. This gives them a great amount of leverage. Hence, they have a team. They know that their business must serve them and that they don't serve the business. These people are visionaries and leaders in their industry. They never stop learning and investing themselves. Very often these people have gone through adversity and really bad times, but have high self-esteem and drive, and have a clear vision that they aspire to.

Advice to these people: You are more than what you have become if you allow youself to go beyond!

The Entrepreneur

This is the highest level where everyone should aspire to. These are multi-millionaires or even billionaires. These are master salespeople and master marketers. They have sold their Internet business for millions, have taken their companies public. They hire people who are much smarter than them. They don't micro-manage, but they macro-think. These people already have an exit strategy before they even start something. They know where they want to go, and aggressively drive towards that, utilising other people's brains and other people's time and resources. They know that the purpose of a business is to either sell it or to make it run on autopilot.

Advice to these people: Give back to society!

Write your press releases like a newsworthy event, and not an ad. Put quotes in there. Quote yourself, and look like an expert. Be the expert. Quote others and look like a reporter, telling good information from a reliable source.

What Are the Elements to be Included in Your Press Release Title Subhead Body Keywords Contact Info
TITLE
Your title should be keyword rich, with the specific niche you are marketing to. Try for the first 5 words to be your keywords you want the press release optimized for. Do some keyword research, using www.goodkeywords.com to see what people in your niche are most looking for and also buying for. Add those popular keywords into your title.
Use good copywriting titles of the past, and modify them to fit you. Many great long copy style "direct response" sales letters have wonderful titles and headlines which you can modify and borrow.
SUBHEAD
Your subhead should also be keyword rich, repeating some of the main keywords found in the title, but telling a little more info in 2-3 sentences. This is where you summarize what your PR is going to talk about.
BODY
Your body must contain a great story, which makes readers want to read it. It can be short or long, but add relevant keywords and keyword phrases to it which will help optimization. You might want to have your keyword or key phrases mentioned 4-7 times in your release.
The length of your release should be 100-500 words. Some services take more words than that, but if you can do a power punched release with all the goods in it and make the media take notice, do make it short. They get a lot of releases coming across their desks daily.
Include the basics in your body which one would find in everyday newspaper articles. Who What When Where Why How Tell a story and speak to the news media, don't sell to them. Don’t make your press release, "Press Release Spam or PRSpam." Don’t make it an ad and try to sell the product or service in your release. The idea is to make them curious, and want to go to your sites, find out more, where you can collect a lead or make a sale there.
Don't use words like "You can make money". Use words like "One can make money..." Speaking in the right "person" makes it legit. Watch how you use, "I said, you said, or he/she said."
Also ad your website URL in the body if you can, and it is relevant.
KEYWORDS
Usually you can select 5-10 keywords, depending on which services you are using, which are the ones you used in your press release content, which helps get you listed for them with Search Engine Optimization, and that will bring you targeted niche traffic.
CONTACT INFO
And the Contact info, should be a website, or phone # where a media outlet can call you back for more on the story to cover you in their news media.

FAITH is the head chemist of the mind. When FAITH is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer.

The emotions of FAITH, LOVE, and SEX are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions. When the three are blended, they have the effect of "coloring" the vibration of thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from Infinite Intelligence.

Love and faith are psychic; related to the spiritual side of man. Sex is purely biological, and related only to the physical. The mixing, or blending, of these three emotions has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind of man, and Infinite Intelligence.

How To Develop Faith

There comes, now, a statement which will give a better understanding of the importance the principle of auto-suggestion assumes in the transmutation of desire into its physical, or monetary equivalent; namely: FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.

As an illustration, consider the purpose for which you are, presumably, reading this book. The object is, naturally, to acquire the ability to transmute the intangible thought impulse of DESIRE into its physical counterpart, money. By following the instructions laid down in the chapters on auto-suggestion, and the subconscious mind, as summarized in the chapter on auto-suggestion, you may CONVINCE the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of "FAITH," followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire.

The method by which one develops FAITH, where it does not already exist, is extremely difficult to describe, almost as difficult, in fact, as it would be to describe the color of red to a blind man who has never seen color, and has nothing with which to compare what you describe to him. Faith is a state of mind which you may develop at will, after you have mastered the thirteen principles, because it is a state of mind which develops voluntarily, through application and use of these principles.

Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.

Perhaps the meaning may be made clearer through the following explanation as to the way men sometimes become criminals. Stated in the words of a famous criminologist, "When men first come into contact with crime, they abhor it. If they remain in contact with crime for a time, they become accustomed to it, and endure it. If they remain in contact with it long enough, they finally embrace it, and become influenced by it."

This is the equivalent of saying that any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available.

In connection with this, consider again the statement, ALL THOUGHTS WHICH HAVE BEEN EMOTIONALIZED, (given feeling) AND MIXED WITH FAITH, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.

The emotions, or the "feeling" portion of thoughts, are the factors which give thoughts vitality, life, and action. The emotions of Faith, Love, and Sex, when mixed with any thought impulse, give it greater action than any of these emotions can do singly.

Not only thought impulses which have been mixed with FAITH, but those which have been mixed with any of the positive emotions, or any of the negative emotions, may reach, and influence the subconscious mind.

From this statement, you will understand that the subconscious mind will translate into its physical equivalent, a thought impulse of a negative or destructive nature, just as readily as it will act upon thought impulses of a positive or constructive nature. This accounts for the strange phenomenon which so many millions of people experience, referred to as "misfortune," or "bad luck."

There are millions of people who BELIEVE themselves "doomed" to poverty and failure, because of some strange force over which they BELIEVE they have no control. They are the creators of their own "misfortunes," because of this negative BELIEF, which is picked up by the subconscious mind, and translated into its physical equivalent.

This is an appropriate place at which to suggest again that you may benefit, by passing on to your subconscious mind, any DESIRE which you wish translated into its physical, or monetary equivalent, in a state of expectancy or BELIEF that the transmutation will actually take place. Your BELIEF, or FAITH, is the element which determines the action of your subconscious mind. There is nothing to hinder you from "deceiving" your subconscious mind when giving it instructions through autosuggestion, as I deceived my son's subconscious mind.

To make this "deceit" more realistic, conduct yourself just as you would, if you were ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MATERIAL THING WHICH YOU ARE DEMANDING, when you call upon your subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind will transmute into its physical equivalent, by the most direct and practical media available, any order which is given to it in a state of BELIEF, or FAITH that the order will be carried out.

Surely, enough has been stated to give a starting point from which one may, through experiment and practice, acquire the ability to mix FAITH with any order given to the subconscious mind. Perfection will come through practice. It cannot come by merely reading instructions.

If it be true that one may become a criminal by association with crime, (and this is a known fact), it is equally true that one may develop faith by voluntarily suggesting to the subconscious mind that one has faith. The mind comes, finally, to take on the nature of the influences which dominate it. Understand this truth, and you will know why it is essential for you to encourage the positive emotions as dominating forces of your mind, and discourage and eliminate negative emotions.

A mind dominated by positive emotions, becomes a favorable abode for the state of mind known as faith. A mind so dominated may, at will, give the subconscious mind instructions, which it will accept and act upon immediately.

Thinking One's Way To Success - Example 1

TRULY, "thoughts are things," and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a BURNING DESIRE for their translation into riches, or other material objects.

A little more than thirty years ago, Edwin C. Barnes discovered how true it is that men really do THINK AND GROW RICH. His discovery did not come about at one sitting. It came little by little, beginning with a BURNING DESIRE to become a business associate of the great Edison.

One of the chief characteristics of Barnes' Desire was that it was definite. He wanted to work with Edison, not for him. Observe, carefully, the description of how he went about translating his DESIRE into reality, and you will have a better understanding of the thirteen principles which lead to riches.

When this DESIRE, or impulse of thought, first flashed into his mind he was in no position to act upon it. Two difficulties stood in his way. He did not know Mr. Edison, and he did not have enough money to pay his railroad fare to Orange, New Jersey.

These difficulties were sufficient to have discouraged the majority of men from making any attempt to carry out the desire. But his was no ordinary desire! He was so determined to find a way to carry out his desire that he finally decided to travel by "blind baggage," rather than be defeated. (To the uninitiated, this means that he went to East Orange on a freight train).

He presented himself at Mr. Edison's laboratory, and announced he had come to go into business with the inventor. In speaking of the first meeting between Barnes and Edison, years later, Mr. Edison said, "He stood there before me, looking like an ordinary tramp, but there was something in the expression of his face which conveyed the impression that he was determined to get what he had come after. I had learned, from years of experience with men, that when a man really DESIRES a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win. I gave him the opportunity he asked for, because I saw he had made up his mind to stand by until he succeeded. Subsequent events proved that no mistake was made."

Just what young Barnes said to Mr. Edison on that occasion was far less important than that which he thought. Edison, himself, said so! It could not have been the young man's appearance which got him his start in the Edison office, for that was definitely against him. It was what he THOUGHT that counted.

If the significance of this statement could be conveyed to every person who reads it, there would be no need for the remainder of this book.

Barnes did not get his partnership with Edison on his first interview. He did get a chance to work in the Edison offices, at a very nominal wage, doing work that was unimportant to Edison, but most important to Barnes, because it gave him an opportunity to display his "merchandise" where his intended "partner" could see it.

Months went by. Apparently nothing happened to bring the coveted goal which Barnes had set up in his mind as his DEFINITE MAJOR PURPOSE. But something important was happening in Barnes' mind. He was constantly intensifying his DESIRE to become the business associate of Edison.

Psychologists have correctly said that "when one is truly ready for a thing, it puts in its appearance."

Barnes was ready for a business association with Edison, moreover, he was DETERMINED TO REMAIN READY UNTIL HE GOT THAT WHICH HE WAS SEEKING.

He did not say to himself, "Ah well, what's the use? I guess I'll change my mind and try for a salesman's job." But, he did say, "I came here to go into business with Edison, and I'll accomplish this end if it takes the remainder of my life." He meant it! What a different story men would have to tell if only they would adopt a DEFINITE PURPOSE, and stand by that purpose until it had time to become an all-consuming obsession!

Maybe young Barnes did not know it at the time, but his bulldog determination, his persistence in standing back of a single DESIRE, was destined to mow down all opposition, and bring him the opportunity he was seeking.

When the opportunity came, it appeared in a different form, and from a different direction than Barnes had expected. That is one of the tricks of opportunity. It has a sly habit of slipping in by the back door, and often it comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat. Perhaps this is why so many fail to recognize opportunity.

Mr. Edison had just perfected a new office device, known at that time, as the Edison Dictating Machine (now the Ediphone). His salesmen were not enthusiastic over the machine. They did not believe it could be sold without great effort. Barnes saw his opportunity. It had crawled in quietly, hidden in a queer looking machine which interested no one but Barnes and the inventor.

Barnes knew he could sell the Edison Dictating Machine. He suggested this to Edison, and promptly got his chance. He did sell the machine. In fact, he sold it so successfully that Edison gave him a contract to distribute and market it all over the nation. Out of that business association grew the slogan, "Made by Edison and installed by Barnes."

The business alliance has been in operation for more than thirty years. Out of it Barnes has made himself rich in money, but he has done something infinitely greater, he has proved that one really may "Think and Grow Rich."

How much actual cash that original DESIRE of Barnes' has been worth to him, I have no way of knowing. Perhaps it has brought him two or three million dollars, but the amount, whatever it is, becomes insignificant when compared with the greater asset he acquired in the form of definite knowledge that an intangible impulse of thought can be transmuted into its physical counterpart by the application of known principles.

Barnes literally thought himself into a partnership with the great Edison! He thought himself into a fortune. He had nothing to start with, except the capacity to KNOW WHAT HE WANTED, AND THE DETERMINATION TO STAND BY THAT DESIRE UNTIL HE REALIZED IT.

He had no money to begin with. He had but little education. He had no influence. But he did have initiative, faith, and the will to win. With these intangible forces he made himself number one man with the greatest inventor who ever lived.
