Vitamins are chemicals that help maintain health. They act on different levels in the body maintaining skin and muscle tone, enhancing immune and nervous system functions, promoting cell growth and division, encouraging proper brain function and sustaining the health of eyes, hair, liver and mouth. They are produced by living material such as plants and animals, as compared to minerals that originate from the soil. The 13 vitamins recognized cannot be made by the body in sufficient amount to maintain life, so they must be obtained from the diet.
The fat soluble ones are A, D, E and K. They are found in the fat or oil of food and require some dietary fat to be absorbed. The water-soluble ones are vitamin C and the B vitamins.

Vitamin B complex

The term vitamin B refers actually to vitamin B-complex which are vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B9 (folic acid or folate), and vitamin B12 (cobalamin). The B-complex vitamins are all water-soluble, meaning the body excretes whatever it doesn't use. Where to find complex B-vitamins: brewer's yeast, brown rice, green leafy vegetables, eggs, fish, legumes, nuts, organ meat, soy products, whole grains.

It is best to take a B-complex supplement containing all eight vitamins. You should look for a product that contains at least the minimum recommended daily allowances RDA for each separate nutrient.

VItamin C

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is essential for normal functioning of the body. Modern society is full of bad habits - from eating at fast food restaurants to smoking and drinking. Often, we do not receive necessary nutrients from our diets and supplements are necessary to provide them. Anti-oxidants, in particular, have been purported to provide a variety of health benefits but do they really stand up to all the hype?

What is an Anti-Oxidant? Anti-oxidants are a combination of organic substances which include a host of vitamins, carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, and minerals. Some believe this powerful group of organics provides such health benefits as preventing heart disease, cancer, stroke, and other illnesses which are often the result of growing older.

How does it work? Proponents of using an anti-oxidant supplement claim that it destroys the harmful free radicals which exist in the human body. These free radicals may be responsible for damaging the body's cells - from the cell walls, to the genetic material in the cells, and all other cell structures. Damage to the cells often leads to a variety of diseases. Anti-oxidants work by destroying these free radicals before they have the chance to do damage.

There have been some studies completed which seemed to show smokers can reduce their risk of lung cancer when put on a diet rich in carotenoids. This is the substance which gives yellow and orange vegetables, like carrots, their bright colour. Additional research seems to show a link between carotenoids and vitamin C and a reduced risk of breast cancer through a decrease in N-nitroso compounds which occur in the body from nitrates. However, the results have been mixed as to the effectiveness of anti-oxidant supplements.

There are some medical practitioners which report good results for elderly patients, smokers, drinkers, immune deficiency patients, and those who frequently take aspirin with the introduction of anti-oxidant supplements. However, it is again hard to make any solid claims without proper research backing them up. Always talk to your physician before beginning a supplement regimen.

Anti-oxidant enzymes are produced naturally in the body. Such substances as glutathione peroxidise, superoxide dismutase, and catalase are naturally occurring anti-oxidants which seek to destroy free radicals. For those who are unable to eat a full diet, lacking in proper nutrition, or with immune system problems, a supplement may be appropriate.

Anti-oxidant supplements usually contain all of these enzymes, in addition to a variety of minerals such as zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium. Vitamins E, C, B2, lutein, lycopene, coenzyme Q10, and cysteine are also included. Many herbs with health benefits like turmeric, ginkgo, grape seed, bilberry, milk thistle and green tea are often part of the mixture. Together these substances provide the maximum in anti-oxidant abilities.

Whether or not an anti-oxidant supplement will help you is really a matter best determined between you and your physician. If you do decide to begin taking anti-oxidant supplements, ensure you deal with a company which enjoys a good reputation.

Paul J Easton has been writing articles online for nearly 4 years now. Once you know the proven ingredients to look for however, the task becomes much simpler.

Losing your hair at any time can be stressful and you don't want to add to the problem by using a mediocre product with too many chemicals that could actually cause more loss in the future!

Hair experts always advise that you abide by the three "P's" rule which is patience, pictures and proven ingredients to help ensure a successful outcome.

This is really important as it does take time for the hairs to grow back due to the natural cycles even with the best natural remedies for hair loss, so you don't want to waste valuable time on products that do not work.

Probably the most well-known ingredient is Saw Palmetto, originally used to treat prostate disease and only discovered later to have the side effect of rapid hair growth.

It comes from dwarf palms grown in the south-east of America and it is the blue berries harvested in the fall that are used. They help to block DHT, a hormone responsible for most loss of hair today as it gradually shuts down the follicles.

Nettle Root combines extremely well with Saw Palmetto and helps to increase the circulation to the scalp to encourage new growth. Sometimes the health of the person is involved. Other times it can just be a medication or it can be heredity. Remedy for hair loss can be done naturally to prevent or stop losing hair that can be found in the supermarket, in the drug store, or in the home.

A way to get your hair to grow faster and hopefully stop balding is to rinse the hair with apple cider vinegar and sage tea. Make a strong sage tea by boiling four cups of water and adding a handful of fresh sage or at least one fourth cup dried sage. Boil for two minutes then remove from heat. When the mixture is cool strain and add one cup of apple cider vinegar. Keep this mixture in the refrigerator and use about one cup to rinse your hair. This mixture will also stop graying of the hair as well.

Saw Palmetto is a popular herb used to improve hair growth. It cleans out the hair follicles and lets them thrive again. Silica is used to prevent baldness and nettles are high in this mineral. Find Saw Palmetto in the health food store. It does come unbound but if you can't find it get it in capsules and take them apart. Combine one tablespoon saw palmetto and combine it with two teaspoons of nettle. Boil four cups of water and once the water boils add the herbs. You can wrap them in cheesecloth and tie with string or you can strain them out after they have boiled for about five minutes. Cool and rinse head daily. Saw Palmetto capsules can also be taken daily. Nettle juice can be found at any health food store and drinking 1 tablespoon in a glass of water will help. DHT is a bi product of testosterone and can cause male pattern baldness. Saw Palmetto and nettle have been proven to help rid the system of DHT. Saw Palmetto also helps with any prostrate problems.

Rosemary oil is an ancient remedy for hair loss as it stimulates the follicles and improves oxygen. Rosemary oil is somewhat expensive so to make it last a little longer combine five or six drops with about one tablespoon olive oil and massage into the scalp. Leave on a few hours and wash out several times per week. Rosemary cleans the scalp and gets rid of any damaging residue. Your scalp will tingle a bit but should not burn.

Tea Tree Oil kills bacteria and mites that kill hair follicles causing loss of hair. This too can be cut down with olive oil to make it last a little longer and not smell as strong. It is best to use this at night when you don't have to go out and can wash it out in the morning because of the strong scent.

Hormones are usually the culprit in hair loss for women. One way to stop loss is to rub about one teaspoon of coconut oil into the scalp daily. This will also condition the hair you have. It is common for some conditioners to have coconut oil in them so be sure to find them and use them on a regular basis.

Good circulation to the scalp is essential to keep your hair full and thick. It is not a bad idea to get your hands on the scalp and give a nice massage every morning and every evening. Circulation will be improved and you may be able to keep your hair.

It should be noted that not all remedies work when using to combat baldness. Sometimes heredity just won't give up and it doesn't matter. However, with some preventative measures prior to loosing most of your hair, you may be able to retain at least some of what you had in the past. You may even be able to grow more.

Do you really want to cure your hair loss problems?

John Farikani is an expert on remedy for hair loss.

Discover how to solve your hair loss problems by following the advice and remedies recommended at the following site http://www.baldness-prevention.com

Sounds familiar right? And if your hair is coarse, it comes even more difficult. But do not worry, there are many easy ways to be stylish at all times

The good thing about having a thick hair is that you always have so many options that will be suitable with your thick hair. This can make finding your own style overwhelming. So to help you out I have put together some options for you and your full hair

Normally the easiest way for women who have thick hair is go for a short medium length cut that makes your hair look more healthy. So do not worry about loosing your long tresses too much. More short hair is also fashionable these days and is way more easy to handle than long hairstyles.

Another good way to manage your hair is a ponytail. Very stylish and elegant and a quick way to do your hair. It literally takes about 10 seconds to make one. If you do not want to shorten your hair too much, then ponytail is the easy option for medium length hair. Put some hair spray also to maintain ponytail look for entire day.

It becomes more difficult if you have long and very thick hair. In this case I suggest you to try out a bun. This is very professional look if it is made up well. So good option for work also.

Long and full hair is also good for some really beautiful curls. To do this you have to use big rollers with a large curling iron. This way you can create some very big and beautiful curls. To keep this style in place, you need to use quite a much hair spray.

Believe it or not but plaits are still a big trend in the fashion today. There are many ways that plaits can be used to add a great touch for your hairstyle. When you have a thick hair and decide to go with plaits, you can create a headband by plaiting a section of your hair and then wrapping it around your head. Looks great!

If you wish to go young again and do not necessarily have to look professional at work, why not go with school girl braids? Good news is that braids are back this season so be adventurous and try them out. This is also perfect style for women with very thick hair.

The last style I will talk about is to create half up half down hairstyle that is naturally packed with body, hair volume and fullness. This look is sensational and works really good with thick hair.

There are lots of hair accessories at the markets nowadays so it is easy to do experimenting. My advice is to be adventurous and try out new things. You do not always have to look so ordinary, take full advantage of your full thick hair and try out new things.

Want to know how to get thicker hair? First comes the face wash, then the astringent, followed by the moisturizer. And the list goes on. It's become such a chore, but wasn't there a time when this routine was fun? Well, we decided to take you back to the days when applying makeup was a treat by giving you some innovative beauty tips and tricks to spice up your routine.

To get this insider information, we contacted Carmindy, resident make-up artist on TLC's "What Not to Wear," and author of The 5 Minute Face. Here are her 10 beauty tips to leave you feeling fresh and fabulous.

Beauty Tip # 1 - Make perfume last.

A few spritzes of perfume in the morning will not carry you through the day, no matter how expensive your bottle may be. To make your scent last, try this beauty tip: put an unscented moisturizer on first and then spray on your perfume a few seconds later. "There's so much alcohol in perfume," Carmindy explains, "that if you spray it on dry skin, a lot of times it evaporates so quickly. But if you have moisturizer on your skin it adheres much better."

Beauty Tip # 2 - Lip gloss without the goop.

Instead of directly putting the tube of gloss to your lips, Carmindy recommends adding an extra step to ensure less stickiness. "I like to put lip gloss on my fingertips first and then just pat it onto the flesh of my lips. And this way you'll get a little bit of glow, but it won't be too goopy." Also, try a moisturizing lipstick or a lip stain first before you add the gloss to make sure the color stays put.

Beauty Tip # 3 - A sweet scrub.

"The best exfoliate in the world is regular white table sugar." If every scrub out there contains some form of sugar, like "Almond Sugar Scrub" or "Brown Sugar Scrub," why not just use what's in your kitchen cupboard? "What happens is that the small crystals dissipate in water so they don't tear your skin." And, if you have sensitive skin, don't fret. "It even works better because with other products you might not like a fragrance or a lot of ingredients," states Carmindy. When you're in the shower, all you have to do is lather your face up like normal and then get a handful of sugar and scrub your face. And if you run out you'll be able to ask your cute neighbor for a spot of sugar!

Beauty Tip # 4 Ditch your spot concealer.

Instead of fumbling around your makeup bag for multiple concealers in the morning, just stick to one, advises Carmindy. The reason why? Because you can actually use the foundation stuck to the top of the cap of your liquid all-over concealer as your spot-treatment. "It oxidizes there so it becomes a little bit thicker." Plus, she says, "It's the same shade as your foundation, so it will instantly erase your blemish." To apply, just take a small tip concealer brush and dip into the cap of your foundation, or the nozzle if you use a spray. Then brush it on the spots and you're ready to go. Now it will be a good thing when your foundation lid gets cakey.

Beauty Tip # 5 - Recycle: Good for the earth, good for your lips.

What are you supposed to do when your four best lipsticks are almost gone and your finger is tired from scraping out the remnants below? Carmindy suggests combining the half-used sticks into your own lip pallet. "Go to the drug store and purchase a plastic pill box and dig out the lipstick that's left in the tubes. Then put each color into a different little section of the pill box." You can mix and match the colors or even put Vaseline in one of the sections to make your own lip gloss.

Beauty Tip # 6 Celebrity-size lips.

To get fuller lips people often outline them with a pencil, but most of the time it looks noticeable and unsophisticated (especially when the lipstick comes off and you're left with just that awful line). To get invisible enhancement, Carmindy recommends you take a Q-tip and dip it in a little bit of white shimmer eye shadow and lightly trace the outside of your lips. "What will happen is that the shimmer will capture the light and make your lips seem larger." You won't be able to see it, but the slight glimmer will do the trick. Great if you don't have any collagen handy.

Beauty Tip # 7 - Bronzed but not dirty.

Dusting bronzer all over your face can make you look like you've been rolling around in the sand box all day or have picked up a part time job as a chimney sweep. Carmindy prefers a spray bronzer to get the appearance of a fresh summer tan. "I like to spray a sponge and then what I do is just push it onto the skin--on the temples and then right underneath the cheekbones because this is kind of where the sun would kiss your face. And if you like powder bronzer you can apply it in the same places too."

Beauty Tip # 8 - Brow breakthrough.

If you've been awarded barely there eyebrow DNA, you've probably tried everything to make them visible--and figured out that most of the time these products end up rubbing off by the end of the day. If you still want eyebrows at five p.m., Carmindy advises buying waterproof liquid eyeliner that matches your hair color like black, brown or taupe. Then, she says, "You can take an angled brush and feather the liquid eyeliner on to your eyebrows and it will stay put all day long. It looks more natural than a pencil and stays longer." It's a win-win.

Now if you're like me and are on the opposite end of the brow spectrum you might need some help keeping your out-of-control brows in check. To do this, "Take a spooly brush or an old tooth brush, put a little hair gel on there and just brush it onto your eyebrows to have them stay put."

Beauty Tip # 9 - Not your average smoky eye.

"What I like to do is take a color like a navy blue or a sparkling kind of burgundy purple and just line the inside rim and right along the upper and lower lash line and then smudge it with a Q-tip. That way, there's no eye shadow pushing the eye back, but you still have the smoky effect because they're lined with color. If you have deep-set eyes, Carmindy advises you to avoid putting dark shadow on your eyelids because it will make them seem even more pushed back. "There are so many ways to do a smoky eye, but people always think there's only one way to do it."

Beauty Tip # 10 - Save time and eye shadow

Running late in the morning? The best thing you can put on is white shimmering highlight powder. "If you highlight three key places you set of the planes of your face--you don't even need eye shadow," says Carmindy. These key spots are underneath the eyebrow, on the inside corner of the eye and on top of the cheekbone. "It brings sparkle to the eye; it lifts up the lid and draws attention to the top of the cheekbone." Now all you need is a big cup of coffee to actually feel as awake as you look.

Who says your beauty routine has to be boring--especially now that you can take a box of sugar with you in the shower or turn a pill box into a personalized lip pallet. According to them, the pleasure of reaching orgasm each time a woman has sex can enhance her psychological wellbeing to a great extent and improve her overall health. All said and done, the critical question still remains: how can you get the kind of orgasm that every couple wants every night?

The secret to better orgasms
An extended massive orgasm refers to an intense and expanded sensation of sexual climax, which is markedly different from a regular orgasm. An orgasm that exceeds the usual expectations of a woman creates an extremely pleasurable sensation that involves muscular contractions in the lower abdomen, inner thighs and the limbs. Such orgasms generate energy and can release immense bursts of positive emotions in both the partners.

The key to experience such orgasms each time you have sex is to have a perfect synergy between mind and body. Many women blame their lack of sexual desire and inability to reach sexual climax (a medical condition known as female sexual dysfunction) to their fluctuating moods or other issues unrelated to sex. As a result of such basic flaws in understanding sexual functions, they don't even know that they can achieve better orgasms than what they normally do. Given below are a few tips that may help you unlock the secrets to an immensely gratifying sex life.

1. Relax and take it easy
Many couples tend to stiffen up as they approach sexual climax. It does not help at all in achieving better orgasms. You must learn to relax and let go off the immediate feelings of pleasure that occur as you near climax. Doing so will help you release the nervous sensations and prolong your climactic pleasures.

2. Develop an uninhibited approach to sex
Human sexual behavior is often under the influence of social norms and cultures. You grow up within a particular social setup and you are taught certain things that you should do during sex and many a things that you should not do. Now to get true sexual pleasures, the first learning lesson for you is to unlearn what you have learned so far. Approach sex in a fully uninhibited manner: try different sex positions; get dirty with your mouth and tongue and make it happen in any way you and your partner are comfortable with.

3. Strengthen your PC muscles
Pubococcygeus muscles, commonly known as PC muscles, play a crucial role in controlling an individual's sexual stamina and responses. There are lots of exercises to strengthen the PC muscles and experience heightened sexual pleasures, including EMO.

However, if you suffer from female sexual dysfunction because of lack of testosterone, you can try female libido enhancers such as testosterone patches to treat your condition and improve your sex life. Intrinsa patch is the most popular product within this category. It can help boost libido by delivering small amounts of testosterone into the bloodstream. You need to consult a doctor before you can use Intrinsa patch.

For more information on female sexual dysfunction visit our health blog: Expert Medical Advice

High-fibre diet cuts bowel cancer risk by a fifth

Eating enough fibre can cut the chance of developing bowel cancer by almost a fifth, a new study shows.

Stephen Adams

Although a high-fibre diet has long been known to be good for the gut and has been thought to be protective against bowel cancer, the study, published on the British Medical Journal website, is among the first to quantify the benefit.

The analysis of 25 studies, involving almost two million participants, found for every 10 gram increase in total dietary fibre, the risk of bowel cancer dropped by 10 per cent.

Experts recommend that adults should eat between18 and 24 grams of fibrea day, but the average intake in Britain is only about 15 grams. That figure also masks wide variations between those who eat a lot of fibre and a little.

The researchers, from Imperial College London and the Danish Cancer Society, concluded that "a high intake of dietary fibre, particularly from cereal and whole grains, is associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer".

Whole grain foods include brown and wholemeal breads, cereals, oatmeal, brown rice and porridge.

Most foods only contain a little fibre so getting enough can be difficult. PND is not a sign of weakness or a character flaw but is unfortunately sometimes part of giving birth, so talk to someone about what you are going through.

A combination of antidepressants (SSRIs) and therapy have been shown to be very effective in the treatment of PND

The GP Giuseppina Del Bianco

Childbirth causes big hormonal and life changes. Most mothers feel tearful, tired and miserable at some point. A new baby is a great joy – and a lot of work.

You might have aching breasts, suffer broken sleep and feel as though you've been flung into a new job for which you've had little training, have minimal support and no time off. You are not a failure, you are just a new mother. It is the time when her monthly period stops and is also known as the change of life. A woman over 45 who has no periods for an entire year is considered to be in menopause. A woman in menopause can no longer give birth and therefore is a very dramatic time in the life of a woman. It generally takes about one to two years to go through menopause.

A woman going through menopause will experience various changes in her body both physiological and psychological. She may experience hot flashes which are brief periods of warm, flushed and sweaty sensations. During menopause, a woman will notice the thinning of the vaginal walls and the decrease in elasticity and lubrication. Mood changes are also common during menopause and a woman in menopause may feel irritable nervous and depressed. You may also see changes in your breast, bones, hair and urinary habits.

So for the physical and emotional well being during these tumultuous times, follow the instructions given below.

Tips on how to take care of your body during Menopause

Love yourself: Pamper and indulge yourself by getting a new hairdo, a manicure or a shopping spree.
Steps

Understand that different women have different breast types. "Sagging" breasts might just be healthy and perfect breasts that just need a little support to look and feel their best. That's just as normal and healthy as women with tiny breasts.

Breasts grow and change like the rest of you. When you were a young teen, your breasts were likely just developing. At 18 or so, this may change as you fully mature into a woman. What your breasts look like now will be different when you are 25, 34, 45 or 72. Just because they are different over time does not mean they are somehow bad.

Don't compare yourself to models. Women tend to compare themselves to what they see in the media. Forget what you see on models; many of those women have had plastic surgery or air brushing. That's not the norm.

Wear supportive bras. The best way to look your best and protect the tissue of your breasts is to wear bras.

Have yourself properly fitted. Many women do not wear the correct bra, and end up with a bra that does not do its job. So have yourself measured and consulted by a professional. Many quality lingerie stores and department stores offer this service for free. make sure the middle of the front actually touches your skin, and make sure to use an under-wire.

Feeling shy? That's normal. Bring a female friend, relative, your mother, whoever you feel comfortable with for morale support.

Choose bras with a wide back strap. The wider the back strap the more support you get in front. This may include bras with 3-6 hooks. You may like the look of the lacy bra with the one hook closure in the back but it won't support larger breasts. Fortunately, colourful, lacy, cute, and/or sexy supportive bras can be now be found in even the largest sizes.

Look for a Quality Store which specializes in more womanly bras and foundation items. This can be a department store, speciality shop, or foundation store. These stores usually offer staff who are knowledgeable and have more quality products and bras are often made for harder to fit women.

Wear a supportive sports bra. This is particularly important in sports that have a lot of movement and bouncing, like running, soccer (football), rugby and the like. Larger breasted woman may need to shop for specialised sports bras on-line or in catalogs, but they are available. Do not double up sports bras, as this there are better options out there even for the largest breasted women.

Put on Your Bra Correctly Take a little care getting dressed. Be sure your straps are adjusted to your back. They tend to move around during laundering.(hand-wash bras, or use a laundering bag) Lean over when putting on your bra to ensure your chest is centered and perky. Make sure the middle of the bra is centred.

Look for the mid-point on your arm and your nipple line should be level with that middle area of your arm. If it is too low you aren't getting enough support.

Consult your physician. He or she might have some ideas that can help, or reassure you that you are perfectly normal. Remember, doctors know about this stuff!Your health care specialist may suggest a weight loss plan. Many women tend to gain weight in their chest. Don't be offended--you may be genetically geared to storing more fatty cells in your breast tissue. (Other women store it in their hips, thighs and abs) Remember, you're fortunate to have the ability to impact your breast size, some women have no control.

Avoid "Yo-yo Dieting". Repeated weight gain and loss can stretch out your breast tissue. This can lead to your breasts getting saggy.

Report on-going issues with back pain. They may prescribe a back support or recommend or prescribe a specialized bra for your needs.

Avoid going bra-less! Gravity will cause your breast to sag more and more. Going without a bra will further stretch the breast tissue.

Tips

Stop obsessing; look great and love your look. There's nothing wrong with pendulous breasts if they're put in a flattering, well-fitting bra.

Do chest exercises. Moderate amounts of chest exercises, with free weight machines, yoga, and Pilates, can help strengthen the muscles under the bust. While it doesn't actually do anything to the breast, it can make the entire area more defined. However, the chest exercises ONLY strengthen the muscle behind the breast--which--while GREAT, does NOTHING for the actual breast sagging/preventative breast sagging, as breasts are nothing more than glands, fat, and connective tissues. http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/2148.html

Push-ups and situps, and crunches, and butterfly curls probably won't help to prevent normal aging and breast change, but they CAN help the HEALTH of the body -- which can help the breasts themselves. However isolated exercises, while wonderful for muscle tone and fat-burning, pale in comparison to full-bodied exercising, whose benefits are incalculable. Get your heart-rate up and your breathing labored, and some form of body perspiration (even if light), to benefit from true, full-body exercising. Walking 10 minutes per day at a leisurely pace has AMAZINGLY ENORMOUS benefits, too!

Back exercises can help alleviate back pain associated with having larger breasts. By strengthening your back muscles, you will be able to support your chest without odd leaning and poor posture. Many women develop their breasts quickly and underdeveloped back muscles may lack the strength necessary to support the growing chest. Make back workouts a frequent part of your workout plan.

Work on your posture. Again, while it doesn't change the breast itself, it will make your chest look even better. Always hold your shoulders back.

Launder your bra correctly. A worn bra will not support or protect you correctly. Hand wash or utilize a lingerie bag. Wash your bras in a gentle laundry soap like Woolite with cold water. Hang to dry or dry flat and don't expose the bras to the heat of the dryer. The dryer heat will deteriorate the elastic.

Buy Quality Bras. Although the most expensive bra is not necessarily the best for you, a cheap and flimsy bra is unlikely to support and protect your body.

Buy bras regularly. An average woman's bra will last 3-6 months under typical use. After that, they start losing support.

Lift and separate! Keep your breast lifted and separate with bras and appropriately fitting tops. Don't squish them together or flatten them down. It won't flatter you.

Warnings

Forget "miracle creams" or "bust breams". They don't work and are a waste of money.

If you have pendulous breasts, avoid clothing items with little or no support, like spaghetti-top dresses, shelf bra camis, and so on. They won't look flattering and won't support you.

Only consider plastic surgery in extreme cases. Plastic surgery is real surgery with real risks of mistakes, injury, and death.

Some people might find it pretentious but I have always found it important to look and feel beautiful. In this article I offer some very simple and basic beauty tips that go a long way in enabling one to achieve their desired attraction.

Many people rely extensively on makeup to look beautiful and are sometimes are too dependent on it for their needs. However it must be mentioned that makeup is really something artificial and sufficient care needs to be taken so that it is used in the best way possible. After all, makeup should only be approached as an 'enhancer' that enhances the innate beauty. There are many cases where the over-application of makeup can result in various ailments for the skin, which then has to be treated on its own. Thus, instead of making one look beautiful, makeup creates trouble for us! Focus then, should be shifted to more natural ways of enhancing ones beauty.

One of the most everlasting and time-tested beauty tips is to drink lots of water. We all know that 70 percent of our body is water and the same holds true for our skin. Hence it is only natural that we take care of keeping this ratio constant for our skin. Doing so keeps the skin plump and moisturized, and in this way is better able to fight of the dryness that so often plagues it, giving it a parched look. When there is sufficient moisture in our skin it also looks fresh rather than dull.

Sleeping is also one of the most essential regimens for attaining beauty. They say that one should sleep at least 9 hours a day and such sleep is known as beauty sleep. Sleeplessness has one of the most disastrous effects on the skin. The clearest indication of sleeplessness comes in the form of dark circles that develop around our eyes. Not only that, our skin also looks dull and does not radiate light well, just as in the case of not drinking enough water.

Finally, muscles in our face play a large part in maintaining the healthy glow and texture of our face. We should always try basic massage techniques that loosen up muscles in the skin. We do not need to spend too much time doing this. Just spending five minutes in the morning with this regimen would do.

In the end, who can forget the benefits of smiling as far as the muscles in our face go. You can effectively address aging skin concerns with a few easy strategies.

Steps

Choose a product with scientifically proven means. Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), a Nobel Prize winning ingredient that is very effective in rejuvenating, healing and repairing aging skin. It helps raise skin cell renewal activities; stimulates old skin cells to revert to a more youthful pattern.

Choose a product with an effective concentration of an active ingredient. An effective concentration of glycolic Acid should be between 8% and 15%. Vitamin A (Retinol) products should have at least a .15% concentration. Active ingredients may cause break out or irritation on certain skin types. It is important to test the product on the neck before applying to the face.

Add a powerful antioxidant such as a stable form of Vitamin C, Tea Extract or Ginseng Extract. This will help protect the skin from environmental damage and improve the skin’s healing ability.

Use a product with Emu Oil. It has a unique healing and moisturizing properties. It has been shown to reduce the depth and length of fine lines and wrinkles and improve sun-damage and scars.

Use a Vitamin K product. This is well known for improving those dark circles under the eyes and is helpful in reducing the redness from broken capillaries that can give the skin a red, ruddy appearance. Vitamin K is not suitable for sensitive skin.

Use Hydroquinone in concentrations of 1% to 2% to bleach those stubborn age spots.

Warnings

The higher concentrations of both glycolic acid and retinol can be rather strong so start very, very slowly so your skin has a chance to get used to them.
This guide will outline a simple routine & discuss the best products to use. This guide is best for oily/spot prone skin, but you could adapt it for dry or combination-type skin.

Resist the temptation to touch your face. This is a very important step. You can transfer trillions of bacteria from your hands to your face just by simply touching it. Dirt will get trapped in your pores and then it can lead to a cluster of very unattractive pimples. If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Oil-absorbent paper also works well, but only use it ONCE, or you'll transfer the oil and dirt back to your face, which won't do anything to make your skin better.

Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. You should also take into consideration specific issues that your skin has, such as acne.Normal Skin-Normal skin is smooth and firm to the touch with small or medium sized pores. It doesn't get too dry or too oily, and it only has the occasional blemish. People with normal skin should moisturise, cleanse, use a spot treatment, and maybe a night solution.

Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. Dry skin can be caused by lack of hydration or malnutrition. Dry skin can look rough and bumpy, and rarely gets oily. Those with dry skin should find a deep moisturizer, use a spot treatment, and use a moisturising night solution. Oily Skin-Oily skin is easy to identify. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. Oily skin come with large pores that are more noticeable, and usually is more prone to blemishes. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while.
Combination Skin-Combination skin gets a taste of just about every skin type. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. The rest of your skin is pretty normal. A lot of people have combination skin. If you are among them, exfoliate, cleanse, moisturize, and use a spot treatment.

Sensitive Skin-If you burn very easily, have reactions to certain cosmetics, and have irritated skin after a dramatic change in weather, then you have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is very hard to deal with because it isn't as durable as other skin types. You have to thoroughly test products before risking a purchase, and you find blemishes hard to treat. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. NEVER pick, squeeze or pop your pimples - no matter how tempting it is. It hurts more, looks worse, and eventually will leave behind an ugly scar. Simply, it won't do anything to make your skin better. It just makes it WORSE. If you don't already have them, you will need to buy a cleanser, toner, moisturiser, cotton wool pads & a face mask.Unless you have spots on your face the majority of the time, products such as Clean & Clear, Oxy or Clearasil aren't recommended - these products are way too harsh and strip the skin of it's natural oils, leaving it very dry and uncomfortable.

Opt for natural, gentle or sensitive cleansing products which will remove excess oil and promote healthy, clear skin without the use of harsh chemicals. If your skin feels tight, dry or sore after cleansing, your facial wash is too harsh for your skin and it's time to invest in a more gentle one. Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day - once in the morning before you put on makeup, and once at night before you go to bed. This will give your skin a chance to heal and breath overnight rather than being clogged by dirt or make up. It's easiest to do this when in the shower as it makes rinsing easier, but if you are only washing your face, here's how to do it: First, wash your hands so you won't be transferring bacteria to your face.
Wet your skin with warm water to open up your pores. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. Some products will work best if you leave it for a minute or so to allow it to dissolve dirt and make up, and to let it get deep into your pores. During this time, continue to gently rub the cleanser in.

Then remove, either with damp cotton pads, using a sponge, or by splashing with warm water, gently wiping until ALL the cleanser is removed. Never leave any cleanser on your face, as this encourages irritation, spots and imperfections. Finish off by rinsing your skin with cold water to close up the pores and prevent dirt getting back into them, and therefore preventing blemishes. It will also leave you looking more fresh faced, and less red. Dry your face gently by dabbing it with a clean towel or paper towels, dirty towels transfer hundreds of bacteria onto your skin which can lead to imperfections.

A few minutes after cleansing, tone your face with toner and a cotton wool pad. Toner is used to restore your skins natural pH levels which were probably altered during cleansing. By restoring your skin to it's natural pH, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. There are many different types of toner out there, some simply restore your skins pH, others also kill bacteria, or leave a spot-fighting ingredient on your skin. Look around the shops for one to suit your skin type. It's most essential with people who have an oily skin type. If you don't have an oily skin type, choose one that's designed to be sensitive. Here's how to use it...

Apply a small amount of toner to some cotton wool and simply wipe over your entire face, but being careful to avoid the sensitive eye area.
Do not rinse off! So after cleansing and toning you should moisturise with a face moisturiser for your skin type. This step can NOT be avoided, even if you have an oily skin type. It's especially important for those with dry skin. There are loads of moisturiser products to choose from, such as gels (best for oily/spot prone skin), creams (best for dry/sensitive skin) and serums (best for normal/oily skin). Some provide anti-blemish action, some are anti-wrinkle, some contain fake tan, and some simply moisturise.

When the toner is dried, apply a small blob of moisturiser, gently massaging in a circular motion into your face and neck. If you haven't applied enough moisturiser and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. If you apply too much & it feels too oily, then gently blot with some tissue. Some people also like to use a separate moisturiser which is designed for the eye area to prevent aging or swelling.
Once or twice a week, in place of your daily cleanser, you should ex-foliate with an exfoliating facial wash. Make sure that it's nothing too harsh, it shouldn't feel like sandpaper on your skin. Ex-foliator is essential because it removed dead skin cells which can leave your complexion appearing dull, and can clog up pores. Remove make-up first, then gently massage the exfoliator in outward circular motions for half a minute. Don't scrub too hard, be gentle. You're only trying to remove the dead skin, not a whole layer of skin!

If using an ex-foliating washcloth, soak the washcloth in warm water and rub the washcloth in small circles on your face. Make sure that you get into the creases by your nose which often get clogged up and develop blackheads. Apply a face mask regularly. Again, there are many options, peel-off masks are best for blemished skin, whereas rich, moisturising masks are best for dry skin. They can be the best part of your beauty regimen, why not turn it into a relaxing pamper session?
Use a nice, gentle, preferably natural face mask once a week or less, (any more often and you'll be over cleansing your face and confusing it). You could also try to make a facial mask if you are low on money or want to try something totally natural. Apply the facial according to the instructions on the packet, on clean, warm skin for best results, and rinse with cool water. Don't leave it on for longer than suggested, (normally about 15 minutes).
Stick to your routine! You're skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using. Sometimes a negative effect appears at first, but this usually goes after the skin has time to adjust. Enjoy your beautiful skin!

Tips

Don't sleep in a hot room, you'll sweat a lot, and wake up looking puffy, and possibly with a few more spots.

Open Windows - staying in stuffy, dry rooms all is no good. Open a window and let some nice fresh air in.

Change your pillowcase regularly to prevent a build up of bacteria.

For puffy eyes, apply cold cucumber slices, used teabags stored in the fridge, or a cold gel mask.

Beauty sleep - Experts recommend 7-8 hours sleep a night, and a proper nights sleep, with no super-long lie ins makes a real difference to your skin. Teens may need at least 9 or even 10 hours, because during puberty is when your body grows the quickest.

Eat a good diet, what you put into your body, shows on the outside.

Drink plenty of water, if you're well hydrated, your skin will be too.

NEVER go to bed with your makeup on. Keep a supply of baby wipes and if you're too tired to stand at the sink washing your face, just remove what you can with the wipes. Make sure they are suitable for the face, otherwise they'll be ineffective and leave your face feeling dry and might leave dry, flaky spots

Use sunscreen daily - even if the weather is overcast, cold or pouring with rain. Look for a moisturizer which contains an SPF as an easy way of wearing it. Years of exposure to ultraviolet rays can build up and lead to premature aging. Get one that is oil free, so you won't get any spots.

Experts recommend getting a sunscreen that has at least an SPF 15. If you have one that is higher (e.g. SPF 30) the better it is.
