Odyssea Divers @ ODEX 2011 this weekend - Brisbane Australia!

Cocotinos Boutique Resorts & Spas will be exhibiting in the coming Oceanic Dive & Ecotourism Expo (ODEX) in Brisbane next month! ODEX is a spring consumer and trade show that is co-hosted with Blue Edge and the 5th annual Underwater Festival from 7 to 9 October 2011 in Fortitude Valley, RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane (More info on ODEX). Our Booth Number is 143, listed as “Cocotinos Boutique Beach Resorts”. Jim and Andrew will be manning our booth and they will be available to provide more information on our destinations, resorts, and packages to all visitors as well as tour operators.

We have a special guest, our good friend and Cocotinos’ avid supporter, Dave Harasti helping us at the booth together with Jim and Andrew. Dave is an internationally known Australian marine scientist and underwater photographer as well as Scuba Diver AustralAsia field editor. Dave will also be giving a talk on diving in South West of Lombok and North Sulawesi, Indonesia (Special Interest Stage @ 1300Hrs, 09 Oct 2011) on our behalf having dived extensively in both our resort locations. Dave was also part of the exploration team when we opened our resort and dive centre in Lombok (read: Dive sites of Sekotong).

James Mamoto... Scuba Instructor! Congratulations!!!

Odyssea Divers :: James Mamoto, one of the pioneer members of Odyssea Divers, could not even swim when he first joined our company and on 5th September, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a Scuba Instructor!

Learning to swim first , progressing to snorkeling and then finally becoming a diver in less than a month, James finally got his break to start his career as a dive guide back in 2004. Through the years, after logging hundreds of dives a year guiding Odyssea and Cocotinos' guests, he became a certified Dive Master in 2009. In 2010, he enrolled in the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).

Without a doubt, 2011 will be the most memorable year for James. In April, James won the Asian Diver Magazine's "Best-In-Class" Individual Award and 5 months later successfully completed the PADI Instructor Exams (with flying colours!) to become a Scuba Instructor!

James also became the first staff member in our Odyssea Divers' sponsorship program to start from entry level diving to becoming a Scuba Instructor.

We will also see another staff member become a Scuba Instructor this year, stay tuned for our next broadcast!!

Between 14 to 19 October 2011 at Cocotinos Manado, Aaron Wong, the Wizard of Light & Shadows, will show you how he creates his amazing images with unique perspectives, how to give your subjects that "WOW" factor and tell a long, beautiful story in just one instance. He will share his progression on how he managed to bring the stylish and sophisticated world of fashion photography into his foray with the underwater realm. He'll also help you hone your craft and present your images in a new, creative way.

Cocotinos and Odyssea Divers, together with the owner, TM would like to thank the organisers especially Jonathan Lin, Aaron Wong, Priscilla Ang, James Ng (ScubAddiction), LivingSeas and all our fantastic supporters for a hugely successful ADEX2011.

Besides the highlight of our Dive Guide, James Mamoto (Odyssea Manado) winning the best individual award, there was an overwhelming response to our ADEX Promotion as well as a tremendous show of support from our previous guests living in Singapore by bringing their friends whom have not experience our hospitality and resorts to recommend them to choose us if they were to go to Manado or Lombok in future. Awarded Best Dive Individual at ADEX 2011

Another first for Odyssea Divers! James Mamoto, our Dive Guide from Odyssea Divers, Manado, was awarded the Asia Dive Expo's "Best in Class - Dive Individual" at the recently concluded ADEX 2011 held in Singapore.

James was a member of our opening team back in 2004, spotted while working on the project building of Kima Bajo Resort & Spa - where Odyssea Divers was the first Dive Centre operating within the resort. A native of the Minahasa Highlands, the ocean was one of the last places he had thought of having a career in. The recognition from this award has certainly given him assurance that his choice and all his hard work has really paid off.

Latest Addition to Odyssea Divers' Fleet

Odyssea Divers Sekotong, Lombok - We are proud to announced the latest addition to our Odyssea Divers fleet of boats, the second in Lombok. "Nariko" (Gentle Child) is a typical lombok outrigger boat but in full fiberglass. She is 14-metre long with a 2-metre beam and powered by twin 40HP Yamaha Outboard Engines. She can carry comfortably 8 divers (or 12 snorkelers) and has a sunbathing rooftop.
