— It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Bob Kevoian, beloved co-founder and longtime host of The Bob & Tom Show, who passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Bob Kevoian was a pioneering force in American radio, helping to build The Bob & Tom Show into one of the most successful and enduring syndicated programs in broadcasting history. With his sharp wit, steady presence, and unmistakable voice, Bob connected with millions of listeners across the country, creating a daily habit of laughter that spanned generations. Launching the show alongside his longtime creative partner, Tom Griswold, Bob’s comedic timing and genuine curiosity helped define a format that blended humor, music, interviews, and cultural commentary in a way that felt personal and wildly entertaining. Over decades on the air, he became a trusted companion to listeners—someone who could make you laugh on your commute, lighten a tough morning, or simply make your day better. Over the years, The Bob & Tom Show received many awards, including the Kurt Vonnegut Humor Award and radio’s highest honor, the Marconi Award. Bob was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2015. Beyond the microphone, Bob was a man who adored his family. After retiring from the airwaves a decade ago, Bob and his wife, Becky, traveled the country in an Airstream RV. Bob was known for his kindness, humility, and deep appreciation for the audience that supported the show throughout its run. His influence extended far beyond radio, shaping the careers of comedians, musicians, and broadcasters who appeared on the program. “Bob used to say that our show was simply a conversation between two friends—not heard, but overheard,” said his partner, Tom Griswold. “We created a space where humor brought people together every morning. That legacy lives on.”
Bob Kevoian’s impact on radio and comedy is immeasurable, but to those who knew him best—and to the millions who listened—he will be remembered simply as a voice that made life a little brighter. A show that started in Petoskey, MI in the early 1980’s, moved to Indianapolis in 1983, and then became nationally syndicated in 1995. In 2015, Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold were inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, but MOST of all, 18 years ago he was willing to book a feature act out of Grand Rapids, MI on the show.
