Following a relentless touring schedule around the UK and Europe, Chicago's Friko have today shared their brand-new single ‘Dirty Diamond’, ahead of this Friday’s release of Something Worth Waiting For (Expanded Edition), via ATO Records. The track catches the band at their most raucous, firing off jagged guitar riffs, raw energy and an exuberant delivery as it hurtles through shifting dynamics. "One of our most sinister sounding songs to date,” Kapetan says of ‘Dirty Diamond’, “this one started out as more of a six minute epic but we ended up shortening it in the studio when we recorded it. As The Big Moon approach the release of their fourth studio album Forever, due out Friday 30th October via Fiction Records, the band have shared the record's latest single Three Things. Leading with its infectious synth line, the track's joyful melodies and soaring vocal choruses keep us hooked to the final note. Sŵn Festival Announces second wave of artists for 2026 edition

Whilst summer festivals come to a close, there's still some big game players to come - Cardiff's Sŵn Festival being one of the forerunners. Following up June's bumper announcement, the festival, taking place across the city over Thursday October 15th to Saturday October 17, has today revealed the second wave of artists set to play the capital, in what looks to be one of its strongest line-ups to date as it approaches its 19th edition. Joining the likes of already announced Dove Ellis, Little Grandad, Mould and Working Men’s Club to name but a few will be Manchester’s Westside Cowboy, London trio bar italia who make their Sŵn debut, songsmith Murkage Dave and six-piece Gently Tender, born from the ashes of Palma Violets. Full details and new additions can be found below with the full rundown of new acts to sink your teeth in to.

This year’s Sŵn Connect conference is also now announced for Friday October 16th at Cornerstone in Cardiff - watch this space for speakers to be unveiled soon but expect a mixture of seasoned industry voices and fresh perspectives for those looking to break into, or just understand more of, the music industry. Full venues this year include: Tramshed, Clwb Ifor Bach, St. John’s Church, Jacobs Basement, Fuel, The Canopi, Tiny Rebel, Little O’Neill’s and Porter’s.

Australian new wave/post-punk outfit Radio Free Alice have relesed details of their long-awaited debut album What’s In Between, available 30th October via Atlantic Records. Coinciding with the news the band have shared the record's latest single Crying With You. “It’s a huge relief to finally announce the album,” vocalist Noah Learmonth says of the announcement. “We’ve lived with these songs for such a long time and they’ve become such a big part of our lives, so knowing there’s now a date when they’ll finally exist outside of us feels incredibly cathartic.” “We wrote ‘Crying With You’ whilst on a writing retreat in Joshua Tree in California,” he continues. “We were staying at this beautiful property owned by producer Nicolas Vernhes, surrounded by desert and Joshua trees for about a week and recorded a handful of demos and jams. The verse and chorus were originally different songs, but we stitched them together, which is something we like to do quite a lot” Take a listen below.

South London six-piece Gently Tender today announce their second studio album This Was Once Fields, due for release on Friday 16th October via TODO Records. Coinciding with the news, the band have excitedly unveiled the record’s latest single, ‘Don’t Sleep’ - a track that explores swirling sonic landscapes through hypnotic guitars and soaring pop elements, ebbing and flowing between its propulsive peaks. Speaking about the track, songwriter Sam Fryer shares: “‘Don’t Sleep’ is about the feeling you get when you’re driving through a city at night time. I call it an Uber Pop song because whenever I listen to it, it sounds like I’m in a late-night cab. I’m wrestling between love and hate for the city. When I scream ‘I love this place’ it’s almost through gritted teeth. Following an exceptional performance at last year's Swn Festival, I've been following Cardiff's Why Horses? intently, eagerly awaiting new music. And today it arrives, as the band announce their signing to Brace Yourself Records. Coinciding with the news, the recently expanded five-piece have unveiled their first single for the label, ‘Yr Big Day’, finding them in fine form as experimental folk guitar patterns intertwine with their signature delivery to maximum effect. Sharing more details, singer Gabriel Austin Lester explains, “My mom always told me that you could pretty much do whatever you wanted on your birthday. After a fight with my family last year on my 21st birthday, I started to question what I should actually be doing. The song is a reminder of what a birthday should be about: a celebration of your life and how amazing it is that you’re still alive. Cardiff's finest The Family Battenberg have revealed details of their highly anticipated forthcoming debut album Super Deluxe, due for release on 20th November via Stolen Body Records. Heading up the news is the band's ferocious new single Bed Bug, accompanied by a video featuring Getdown Services Ben Sadler in an Oscar nomination worthy performance. Speaking more about the track, the band say: “A lot of our songs sound like they’re about shagging, but aren’t, except this one sort of is. Bed Bug is about mites. How would a bed bug feel about getting obsessed with the person in the bed? We wrote it in a tent backstage at a festival in Orléans that we’d turned up three hours too early too because none of us speak French, demo’ing it there and then with no amps, and Billy hitting a guitar case for percussion. Even then we knew we wanted it to sound big. We’d spent nine months of 2025 not coming up with any new songs we were happy with, but this one thankfully broke our streak, and came to define the outlook of the new record”. Asher White has today shared the brilliant new single Stage Diva, taken from the forthcoming new album Love Aggregates, out Aug 28th on Joyful Noise. Fuelled by fuzz-drenched guitars and effortless slacker melodies, the track serves up another irresistible glimpse of what’s still to come. Speaking about the single, Asher White shares, “A tongue-in-cheek speculative fantasy of fame and fortune wherein I admit to feeling a little uncertain about the ‘Point’ of developing a pop music enterprise; whether it reflects or belies a true love of the Scene and the Community; what the threshold of public perception is and how it may only be masturbatory ego meglomania. Like if you’re pulling up the DIY show and leaving before it’s over, for example. ‘I used to watch you shave…’ is about how I once communed with myself while shaving as a meditative workshop in gender dysphoria and vulnerability but as of last year I now only do it in the shower, blindly, where I don’t have to see myself. Following on from earlier single's Go Fuck Urself and Cancel Me (I'm Tired), Fat Dog have this week unveiled their latest effort - Shit Love. Taken from the band's second album Cancel Me (I’m Tired), due October 2nd, the track leads with hyperbolic synths and pulsating electronics as its 90's rave sound takes hold. It is about “two fucking insane people who argue constantly and they are world-enders every time” says frontman Joe Love. Take a listen below.

"‘Kick in the Shins’ is a fusion of two songs that never felt all the way complete," Learmonth says of the new track. Grandmas House share new single 'Blue Oblivion' + announce UK in-store tour

Following on from last month's single 'The Table', Bristol’s Grandmas House have today shared the latest single from their long-awaited debut album 'Baby You’re A Winner', ahead of its release on August 21st release via Brace Yourself Records. Twisted and brooding, the track's switching tempos and meandering textures serve up another exciting taste of what's to come. “Writing ‘Blue Oblivion’ was a pivotal moment for us as a band,” they explain, “as it made us realise that we didn’t have to write music within any boundaries. It opened up the way we would go on to write the rest of the album, encapsulating feelings of love and loss with a balance of light and dark.” Take a listen below.

Alongside the news of ‘Blue Oblivion’ comes word of a tour of UK record stores in support of the album. Full dates below.
