Returning to Angelic Studios, the same studio they recorded their debut album at, the band were able to look back at their growth and build that in to their next direction. As the band explain, “It's a song that's not too concerned about finality. I think imperfection and authenticity is becoming ever more valuable and it's definitely something we're drawn to.” “We've spent some time trying to work out what's real and tangible about who we are and how we use our time. The people we travel the world with, the human moments on stage, the connection we make with those who come to our shows. Westside Cowboy - Kick Stones (The Boys)

Manchester's high-flying risers Westside Cowboy have today unveiled details of their debut album It Goes On, out August 21st via Island Records. Coinciding with the announcement the band have shared the record's first single Kick Stones (The Boys) following its debut spin on BBC 6 Music. Perfectly capturing their exuberance, the track bursts into life with a rapidly building pace - loose in feel yet purposeful in execution - as rolling percussion and twanging guitars immediately take hold. Drummer Paddy Murphy notes that the true crux of the song is “as much about how we made it as the lyrics”. “We loved the way it felt to play, but we thought we couldn’t record it like that or people would think we wanted to be a stadium rock band,” bassist/vocalist Aoife Anson O’Connell explains. Instead, they translated it through their own lens, using a live recording of The Velvet Underground’s ‘What Goes On’ as their primary reference point. “We always thought, if we can pull this off it could be really fun,” Paddy details. “Taking this mad, ‘70s rock thing but then having it played by a bunch of scrawny kids.” Take a listen below with the official video shot in collaboration with FC United of Manchester.

Cardiff quintet Panic Shack are back as they unleash their ferocious new effort, grin & bear it. Marking the bands first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album, which landed in July 2025 via Brace Yourself Records, the track wastes no time with its onslaught of guitars and high octane energy. “This song has had many iterations, seen many a practice room and taken many forms,” explain the band, completed by Meg Fretwell, Romi Lawrence, Emily Smith and Nick Doherty-Williams. “It’s a song that we’ve felt really passionate about getting right but the music was never fully hitting. We reworked it from the start of the year in any spare time we had around working our jobs and gigging (as we almost always do) which really helped to emphasise the songs meaning. It almost made it onto our debut album but it just wasn’t where it needed to be, we felt it didn’t have enough grit - until now. We really clicked with Ross in the studio and are super proud of what the track has become, it sounds massive.” Take a listen with grin & bear it streaming below. GREEN MAN announces final five artists for GREEN MAN RISING COMPETITION 2026

With the longlist whittled down to Glasshouse Red Spider Mite, Kiosk, The Slow Country, Tall Child and Cyn Cwsg, Green Man, Wales’ largest music, arts and science festival have today revealed details of the seventeenth year of the Green Man Rising Final, presented by BBC 6 Music’s Huw Stephens at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff on 2nd June.

Continually supporting emerging talent, the festival continues to run their Green Man Rising competition which sees hundreds of band's apply for the chance to play at the festival, earning the top prize of the coveted Mountain Stage opening slot at Green Man 2026, a week’s studio time at Prah Recordings and a physical vinyl release with Dinked Edition. Runners-up will also secure a slot on the Green Man Rising Stage, which has previously hosted the likes of BRIT Award winners The Last Dinner Party, Mercury Prize-winners English Teacher and some recent favourites including Westside Cowboy, Silver Gore, Adult DVD and Keo.

Fiona Stewart, Green Man Managing Director and owner, said: "Launching talent is at the heart of Green Man and our incredible 5 finalists were chosen from a record breaking number of acts. When Rising was launched 18 years ago we could never have imagined how many artists have been supported in their early careers. Our industry panel will choose which band will open the Mountain Stage at Green Man 2026!"

Released via Chess Club Records, the track depicts the unwavering emotions that hit when dealing with a close breakup. Speaking of her first release, jo from school explains: “‘Chicken’ represents fear, shame and embarrassment. It’s about leaving a person and a time behind. ‘Chickening’ is about cowardice, but is also a reference to the beautiful & cheap ‘chicken’ wine my friends and I love dearly. The lyrics of Chicken sound themselves quickly. Returning with her first new music in over a year, Australia based artist total tommy has today unveiled the blistering new effort, Prety Little Mouth. Co-produced by total tommy and Tom Stafford (Joy Crooks, Orla Gartland, Jelani Blackman) in Stafford's London studio, the track brings its soaring pop instincts to a peak, bursting with euphoric choruses and surging synth melodies. On Pretty Little Mouth, total tommy says "Pretty Little Mouth is a play on the saying ‘butter wouldn’t melt’. I wrote the line ‘smoke wouldn’t leak from her pretty little mouth’ in reference to a love-bomber. It’s about falling easily but ultimately getting hurt just as quickly when you get spat back out. Manchester based, North East raised, Cutscene have this week announced their signing to Heist or Hit as they share new single ‘Concrete Line’. The track leans in to its moody, atmospheric territory as a steady, almost hypnotic rhythm builds tension beneath before a euphoric break. The band explain, “This track presents a character who is on a single track, someone living in a small town. The idea was conceptualised after equating the feeling of being ‘stoned’ to the paralysis people feel in modern urban centres where nothing new or exciting really happens. Making their very welcomed return, Editors have today unveiled their brilliant new single Call It In. Coinciding with news of a full run of UK and European tour dates, it marks the band’s first new music since 2022’s studio album EBM, and emerges from studio sessions in between Tom Smith’s debut solo record There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light and continuing live dates. On the single, frontman Tom Smith has said, “We spent a lot of summer ‘25 holed up in rural Gloucestershire, working on songs with all of us in a room, in a more traditional band set up. ‘Call It In’ is one of the newest songs we worked on, it’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread, finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life.” Take a listen/watch below with the video directed by the band’s guitarist Justin Lockey.

Today sees DMA's return with the news of their fifth studio album, set for release August 7th via Wonderlick Entertainment/Sony Music Australia/RCA UK. Coinciding with the announcement the band have also shared their latest single Heatin Park. Speaking on their fifth album and the new single, out today, Matt Mason says “‘Heatin Park' started as an old forgotten demo banged into a new sound for us and that collision is what gives it its feral energy. The album is called DMA’S because that’s exactly what it is and we’re keen to bring it home and play for you all”. Following on from last month's single Medicine, London four-piece Tooth have today returned with news of their debut EP 'Restless In Bloom', due out June 12th via Soil To The Sun Recordings. Sharing the extended player’s title track, the band's towering energy continues, with infectious melodies underpinning their powerful, anthemic sound. “The name ‘Restless in Bloom’ came from a poetry zine put together by Ben’s girlfriend,” explains Pollock. “She explained the meaning behind the name, saying how our youth was growing into something else, blossoming into something beyond what we knew. We would fill our time fidgeting with the freedom around us, restless in apprehension of whatever’s coming once youth fades. The lyrics reflect this idea, using the backdrop of two people sleeping together, both quickly growing out of each other and realising their existence has more potential beyond the confines of adolescence.” Take a listen for yourselves below.
