This episode we are focusing on effort: when effort is beneficial and when it can be a waste of time. Putting effort into an endeavor can be a good thing, however merely putting effort into something does not mean it will always turn into a success. Putting effort into something just to make yourself feel like you have done something is not actually effective effort. It may psychological make you feel good, like you “did’ something. But if you spend your life simply putting in effort without taking the time to figure out whether the effort is being put into the right place, you may come out thinking that your effort is not enough. Really your effort can be enough when its going to the right place and for the right intention. Effort is something we all use, but it is time to think about what type of effort we are using and whether that effort is going where we want it to go.

This episode explores quitting and whether quitting is a good or a bad thing. Many people have heard people say “never quit” or “quitting is for losers” but is that actually true? Can quitting sometimes be the smartest thing we ever do? For example, if you are in a job which you hate, is it better to quit and find something better or to steadfastly stay with the terrible job? Or if you are in a relationship with someone who does not treat you the way you want to be treated, is it better to stay and hope things get better or to quit that relationship and find something better? These questions never have a right answer, and the answer may differ depending on the situation. However this episode seeks to explore these issues to unmask the perceptions people have about quitting in order to understand the nature of quitting.

Welcome to the first episode of Coffy House Chats! This podcast explores questions behind our beliefs, motivations, and the nature of reality. This first episode deals with whether our experiences are fundamentally good or bad. Many people seem to think that when happy things happen to them, they will be happy, and when sad things happen they will be sad. But are the things we classify as “happy” fundamentally “happy” experiences? If that is the case then it would seem that every person going through that “happy” experience would be happy, but that does not seem to always be the case. Or is it merely our perception and beliefs which make that experience a “happy” or a “sad” one? This is what we will explore in this episode. Welcome to the podcast and thank you for listening!!
