In the latest Ripple news, the XRP Ledger Foundation and RippleX disclosed a payment-engine vulnerability that could theoretically have created approximately 18 trillion spendable XRP in one transaction, far exceeding the ledger’s intended 100 billion XRP supply.

The disclosure says there was no evidence that the flaw was exploited on a public network or that unauthorized XRP was created; it was fixed in xrpld 3.4.1.

This was a supply-integrity risk, not a confirmed supply breach. Under specially constructed payment conditions, the XRPL vulnerability could have caused the ledger to credit more XRP than a buyer paid; an existing safety check failed to identify the difference.

It's official.

XRP Ledger Payment Overflow: How the Bug Worked

The payment engine can consume offers from the order book as one payment crosses a trading path. The disclosure says an unchecked integer overflow could occur when adding amounts from many offers: once the sum exceeded the fixed maximum of the integer representation, it wrapped to a small value instead of producing an error.

That arithmetic mismatch mattered because the engine still paid each offer owner the full amount individually, while charging the buyer only the wrapped total. The difference would have amounted to newly created XRP. The ledger’s “no XRP created” invariant was also based on arithmetic that wrapped in the same way, so it did not catch the discrepancy.

The vulnerability affected xrpld 3.4.0 and earlier. It was reported through the XRPL Bug Bounty program on September 22, 2026, and the report says the flaw may have been present since the current payment engine was written in 2015. The October 9 vulnerability disclosure says the fix shipped in xrpld 3.4.1, released on September 25.

Market Intelligence: Crypto Analyst Predicts Best New Crypto to Hodl

Ripple News: 18 Trillion XRP Was a Theoretical Exposure

The reported figure of approximately 18 trillion XRP describes what the vulnerability could theoretically have enabled in a single transaction. It is roughly 180 times the ledger’s intended 100 billion supply. The disclosure explicitly says investigators found no evidence of exploitation on a public network or unauthorized XRP creation.

Triggering the flaw required specially crafted offers and a payment designed to consume many of them together. It was not an accidental outcome of ordinary payments or trades. The available disclosure does not report confirmed public-network compromise or lost funds, and the potential scale should not be mistaken for an observed market or supply event.

In xrpld 3.4.1, the payment engine checks for overflow while summing offer amounts and fails the affected payment path if the sum would exceed the limit. The disclosure also says the no-XRP-created safety check now uses a wider counter, alongside hardening in other balance-summing code.

XRPL Upgrade Context: A Separate Batch Vulnerability

XRP Ledger version 3.4.1 is now the minimum required version after the recent amendments were activated.

Two bugs were fixed in xrpld 3.4.1. The second involved validation of inner transaction wrappers in Batch transactions and affected xrpld 3.3.0 and 3.4.0; the BatchV1_1 amendment was not active on Mainnet when that issue was found. It is separate from the payment-engine overflow and should not be read as evidence that the same conditions affected both bugs.

The disclosure describes a narrow but important security lesson: a safety check can fail if it repeats the same unsafe arithmetic as the transaction logic it is meant to verify.

According to the latest Ripple news, the practical issue was not merely that a payment calculation could overflow, but that the independent check intended to protect supply integrity could overflow alongside it.

Google Gemini AI predicts that by January 1, 2027, Bitcoin could trade over $500,000, potentially reaching $1,000,000, with an extended target of $1.5M, assuming a full-blown crypto bull market returns and a landmark catalyst turbocharges it.

As of October 11, 2026, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading between $83,000 and $84,000. This forecast is intentionally extreme and goes beyond mainstream predictions. It assumes a strong bull market in late 2026 and a transformative event: a major sovereign nation, potentially the United States or another G7 economy, formally adopts Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset on a large scale. This could mean directing a significant portion of their reserves to BTC or creating a new sovereign wealth vehicle focused on it.

(SOURCE: Google Gemini AI Predicts $1M+ Price for BTC)

Coupled with rising corporate treasury adoption and a growing “hyperbitcoinization” narrative amid ongoing fiscal challenges, this situation could trigger an unprecedented surge in demand from institutions and nation-states. In this highly speculative scenario, Bitcoin could rise from its current price of around $83,000.

This would surpass its previous all-time high of nearly $126,000 and enter a rapid price-discovery phase. This could push prices into the $500,000 to $1,000,000 range, with the most aggressive estimates reaching $1.5 million by early 2027, as scarcity meets both forced demand and fear of missing out (FOMO).

Google Gemini AI Predicts BTC to $1M+, Does the Technical Analysis Agree?

(SOURCE: TradingView)

On the higher timeframes, Bitcoin has been consolidating in the low-to-mid $80,000s after earlier attempts to push higher toward $87,000. Price continues to hold above key longer-term moving averages despite recent volatility.

In a standard bull market, a sustained break above $90,000–$100,000 would open the path toward the prior all-time high near $126,000. Under the extreme nation-state adoption scenario outlined above, clearing that previous high would likely trigger powerful measured-move extensions and multi-cycle Fibonacci projections from the long-term base, theoretically supporting a move into the $500,000–$1,000,000+ zone if volume and institutional flows expand dramatically.

RSI is currently neutral, with significant room to reach the extreme overbought levels typical of parabolic advances. Key nearer-term supports sit in the $80,000–$82,000 and $76,000–$78,000 zones; holding those would keep the broader recovery structure intact while the market prices in any major narrative shifts.

Overall, while the current chart supports continued upside in a normal bull market, only an extraordinary surge in sovereign and institutional demand could justify the kind of multi-thousand-percent extension implied by the $500,000–$1.5M targets.

For holders, a failed support test can make rotation feel urgent. But shifting from a liquid asset under macro pressure to an early-stage token changes the risk profile; it doesn’t remove market risk. That distinction matters as Bitcoin tests its October lows.

Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER) is presented as a Bitcoin Layer 2 with Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) integration, designed to bring smart-contract execution and faster, lower-cost transactions to Bitcoin.

Today’s XRP price forecast signals a -1% overnight drop to $1.39, contrasting with a slightly positive broader market. This drop was primarily driven by a sell-off in leveraged derivatives positions ahead of the Evernorth Nasdaq listing scheduled for October 12.

Trading volume has dropped more than -53% in 24 hours, with transaction value now at $693M. Over the past week, XRP futures open interest fell -8.6%, suggesting traders are closing leveraged long positions.

<iframe loading="lazy" title="XRP'S BIGGEST WALL STREET MOMENT?
Crypto analysts noted that forced liquidations can intensify selling pressure, creating a negative feedback loop. The market is de-risking, with speculators exiting positions ahead of anticipated near-term price increases.

While Bitcoin rose +0.5% and the total crypto market cap was mostly flat, XRP’s price kept falling. No new positive catalysts emerged over the weekend to counter the prevailing selling pressure.

XRP Price Forecast: Evernorth XRPN Nasdaq Debut Tomorrow Is the Next Big Catalyst

(SOURCE: TradingView)

Without bullish news, XRP succumbed to negative momentum and weakness in the broader altcoin market. The immediate focus is on the Evernorth (XRPN) Nasdaq debut on October 12. Technically, XRP is testing support around $1.37.

If this support level holds, XRP could rebound toward the 7-day simple moving average at $1.45. However, if it breaks below $1.37, XRP could quickly fall to the next support level near $1.32.

The outlook remains bearish below $1.45, but a successful public listing could support market sentiment. Traders are watching whether the XRPN listing generates real demand for XRP or becomes a “sell the news” event.

Unwinding derivatives and a lack of immediate bullish catalysts are pushing XRP lower. Investors should watch whether the $1.37 support holds once trading for the XRPN listing begins, as a failure could trigger another drop.

For holders, a failed support test can make rotation feel urgent. But shifting from a liquid asset under macro pressure into an early-stage token changes the risk profile; it does not remove market risk. That distinction matters as XRP tests its October lows.

Iran blockade Polymarket odds put the chance of the United States announcing an end or suspension of its naval blockade of Iran by October 15 at 9.5%, up from 8.5% a day earlier. That is low even after President Donald Trump said Washington will not attack Iran before the November 3 midterm elections.

The contract resolves only on an official U.S. announcement that clearly ends or suspends the blockade. Talks, a pause in strikes, or looser enforcement do not count.

🩸 Crypto has spent its past 7 days under heavy pressure, with most major assets in red. Rising oil prices, higher Treasury yields, a firm dollar and leveraged liquidations have pushed Bitcoin back to $81.8K, and most altcoins have predictably been punished even harder.

Why Does the Strait of Hormuz Matter for Oil and Bitcoin?

The Strait of Hormuz is the narrow waterway between Iran and Oman that links the Persian Gulf to the open sea. In normal times, about a fifth of the world’s oil passes through it, along with a large share of liquefied natural gas, and most Gulf exporters have no practical alternative route.

That is why every blockade headline moves energy prices. Brent crude jumped about 4% on October 8 after more attacks on tankers leaving the Middle East. It then slipped to around $103 a barrel on October 9 after Trump’s pledge, and it is still on track for a weekly gain.

Bitcoin trades the same headlines. It fell to a low near $80,300 on Thursday as about $1.09 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated, roughly $931 million of them longs. After Trump’s post, Bitcoin rebounded to about $82,500, still around 4% lower on the week. Oil above $100 keeps inflation and Treasury yield pressure on risk assets, so a calmer Iran headline helps crypto, and a new tanker attack hurts it.

What Do Iran Blockade Polymarket Odds Say After Trump’s Pledge?

Iran Blockade Polymarket Odds Polymarket

Trump posted on Truth Social on October 8, after a report that the Pentagon was weighing strike options. He said the U.S. is having “productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran” and that “we will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections.” He did not lift the blockade. Iran’s Tasnim news agency said Tehran is reviewing a U.S. reply to its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days.

Traders treat a promise not to strike as different from ending the blockade. The odds rise with time: 20.5% for an announcement by October 31, 36% by November 30, and 44.65% by December 31. Polymarket’s shipping markets are more pessimistic. The contract on Hormuz traffic returning to normal by October 31 sits at 2%, down 26 points since mid-August, with $1.94 million in volume. The December 31 version is at 19%, with $14.45 million in volume.

The next dates to watch are Tehran’s answer to the seven-day proposal, U.S. CPI on October 14, the Federal Reserve decision on October 28, and the midterms on November 3.

For now, Iran’s blockade, Polymarket odds say Trump’s pledge lowers the risk of escalation, but not the odds that the blockade ends soon.

Bitcoin lost almost $7,000 in three days and bottomed at $80,400 on Thursday evening. There may be roughly six explanations for this price movement. Claude AI predicts BTC stabilizes above its moving averages, because five of those six were one-off events that have already discharged.

On Monday, the setup looked entirely different. BTC was pressing $87,000, and analysts were pointing at $92,000 as the next target. By Wednesday morning, the market had turned. A $2,000 drop arrived in 20 minutes. Liquidations then reached $480 million in a single hour as Bitcoin broke below $81,000.

BTC trades at $83,132, up 1.68% on the day after reclaiming ground from Thursday’s low. The sixth reason is the only one still able to do damage, and the level that confirms this bounce sits higher.

The support level indicated held, but following the excellent gains of the past few days, I preferred not to take any risks.$BTC now needs to recover the 84,500 level on the 12-hour chart: a break above this level would pave the way for a continued uptrend.
AI Predicts BTC: Five Bitcoin Price Fears Expire, One Does Not

U.S. Government ARKM

The US government moved sizable holdings to Coinbase Prime, including 834 BTC. Lookonchain tracked roughly $1.5 billion in BTC and $62 million in WBTC deposited over 72 hours. MARA Holdings appeared to sell 996 BTC, worth over $81 million, on October 8.

Santiment logged the second-highest realized profit day of 2026, with over $1 billion secured. The yearly peak is $1.04 billion. That is also a discharge rather than a condition, and Santiment noted it does not guarantee a major reversal. Iran tensions rose after Trump said the US would not strike before the November 3 midterms. That headline cuts both ways and is already priced.

The sixth reason is different. Fed Governor Christopher Waller said more rate hikes are needed to reach the 2% inflation target. That one has a forward life. It reprices every risk asset until the late October meeting, and it does not resolve by being traded.

CryptoQuant chief executive Ki Young Ju framed the whole episode plainly. Do not confuse a bull market correction with a bear market.

Market Intelligence: Crypto Analyst Predicts Best New Crypto to Hodl

Why Does the Fidelity Number Undercut the ETF Story?

Because the flow and the holdings are telling opposite stories. Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $487 million in net outflows on October 7 and $244.13 million on October 8. That reversed a run of inflows stretching from mid-August through September.

Now look at where those outflows came from. Fidelity’s FBTC lost $197.09 million on October 8, roughly 81% of the entire day’s total. BlackRock’s IBIT shed just $5.54 million.

Arkham data shows Fidelity’s FBTC bought $354.1 million of Bitcoin over the previous 20 trading days. More than half of that accumulation unwound in a single session.

FIDELITY HAS BOUGHT $354M OF BITCOIN

Fidelity's FBTC ETF bought $354.1M of BTC over the past 20 trading days.

Its other crypto funds bought in the same period too: $66.6M of ETH and $18.2M of SOL. How much will they buy this week? pic.twitter.com/HO1UPDmkDL

— Arkham (@arkham) October 9, 2026

Yet Fidelity Custody still holds 445,551 BTC, worth about $36.72 billion. The flow turned. The position did not. The wider numbers say the same. Cumulative net inflows across US spot Bitcoin ETFs stand at $57.09 billion, with $104.91 billion in net assets, or 6.38% of Bitcoin’s market cap.

Two red days do not reverse that. They do show how concentrated this particular selling was.

Claude AI Predicts BTC Levels: What Confirms the Bottom?

BTCUSD Chart 1D

Thursday’s low is the reference point now.

Bitcoin fell to $80,400 and bounced. The support shelf at $80,660 held on a closing basis, with the 50-day EMA at $79,794 sitting just beneath it.

Claude AI Predicts BTC will be decided at these levels:

The floor: $80,660. Tested Thursday and defended. Losing it exposes the 50-day EMA at $79,794 and then $75,311.

The trigger: $84,500. The reclaim level analyst EliZ is named on the 12-hour chart. Above it, the uptrend case continues.

The ceiling: $87,145. Rejected four times in two weeks. Clearing it ends the sequence of lower highs.

Watch $84,500 before anything else. The bounce from $80,400 means little until the price closes back above it.

Fail there, and the fifth rejection becomes a lower high, which is how corrections turn into something else.

Bitcoin Holders Have Two Options. Bitcoin Hyper Adds a Third

Look again at what caused this week’s drop. Coins moved to an exchange and were sold. That is the whole repertoire. On its own chain, Bitcoin can be held, or it can be transferred somewhere to be sold. There is no third thing to do with it.

Fidelity Custody holds 445,551 BTC worth roughly $36.72 billion. Every satoshi of it sits still. Across all US spot ETFs, the figure is $104.91 billion, or 6.38% of the entire supply, and none of that capital does anything but wait for a price.

That gap is what Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER) targets. The project presents itself as a Bitcoin Layer 2 with Solana Virtual Machine integration, bringing smart contracts and faster execution to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Its stated features include a decentralized canonical bridge for BTC transfers and low-latency Layer 2 processing. The project claims its SVM integration outperforms Solana itself, a claim that comes from the project rather than independent testing.

The presale is priced at $0.0136872, with over $33 million raised. The core pitch is addressing Bitcoin’s slow settlement and lack of programmability while preserving the security model underneath.

In Ripple news today, Ripple Prime is reportedly providing total-return-swap financing to leveraged exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuers. This marks its entry in a U.S. sector that Morningstar Direct data counts at 593 funds and more than $256 billion in assets.

The figure describes the ETFs’ combined assets, not Ripple Prime’s financing book, revenue, or the amount of capital it has committed. The report, published on Friday, October 9, 2026, places the prime-brokerage business in a fee-generating segment of institutional finance.

This is not simply a crypto company adding another product. It is a nonbank firm entering a financing business traditionally dominated by banks, as tighter capital limits create room for competitors. Ripple acquired Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and now operates the brokerage as Ripple Prime; the reported transactions do not establish any role for XRP or RLUSD.

The move also fits Ripple’s broader effort to build fee-generating businesses beyond its digital-asset holdings, though the ETF financing report does not quantify its contribution. A large addressable pool of fund assets is not evidence of equivalent business volume for Ripple, and that distinction matters.

Leveraged ETF Financing: How the Swap Works

Leveraged ETFs use total-return swaps and other derivatives to amplify the daily moves of individual stocks or indexes. Rather than holding all the securities needed to create that exposure, a fund can receive it through a swap from a bank or broker, paying a financing charge in return.

The provider manages its exposure by hedging, including through purchases of the underlying security or transactions with other market participants. That structure generates financing income for the counterparty, but it also leaves the provider exposed if a sharp move in the underlying asset overwhelms the fund’s equity.

The report cites the Tradr 2X Long SDNK Daily ETF as a pricing example. As of Wednesday, October 7, its financing charge was tied to the overnight bank funding rate plus four percentage points, which worked out to roughly 8% on an annualized basis at that time. It is a variable-rate example, not a fixed rate for Ripple Prime’s other clients.

These charges are separate from management fees and are reflected in a fund’s net asset value. For investors holding a leveraged ETF over longer periods, financing costs interact with daily resetting and compounding, potentially weighing on returns. A sufficiently large one-day decline in the underlying stock can also wipe out a fund’s equity and leave its swap counterparty facing losses.

The reported arrangement is conventional institutional financing, not evidence that XRP or RLUSD is serving as collateral, settlement currency, or a reference asset. Ripple’s potential role in a broader settlement stack does not confirm use in these specific swaps; RLUSD’s potential role as a settlement rail remains distinct from the transaction details reported here.

Ripple Prime and the Nonbank Financing Competition

Morningstar Direct data puts the U.S. total at 593 leveraged ETFs, including 426 single-stock funds. The report notes that regulators first approved single-stock leveraged funds in 2022. Noel Kimmel, president of Ripple Prime, characterized swap financing as an increasingly important part of the business.

Banks have long supplied much of this financing, but tighter limits on the risks they can take are opening space for nonbank providers. The report also identifies Jane Street and Clear Street as firms gaining ground. Ripple Prime is already working with ETF providers and is seeking business from other investment managers, including hedge funds.

On Tuesday, October 6, Ripple Prime announced prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services for Brevan Howard across multiple asset classes. That client expansion places the firm’s activity beyond crypto trading and payments and into a market where revenue depends on financing positions and managing the associated balance-sheet and counterparty risks. Ripple Prime is a financing provider in this arrangement, not the ETF sponsor or asset manager.

Ripple News: Financing Scale and Risk

As Ripple builds businesses beyond XRP, its broader revenue strategy provides context for why institutional fees matter, but does not establish the size of this particular business.

For readers following Ripple news, the key measures are client growth, the scale of Ripple Prime’s financing activity, and how it hedges exposures when markets move sharply. The available reporting does not disclose revenue from leveraged-ETF financing or establish whether XRP or RLUSD is used in the transactions.

The $256 billion figure reflects market size, not Ripple’s share. The key issue is not entry into a large ETF sector, but Ripple’s funding contribution, retained risks, and whether prime brokerage can yield significant fees beyond crypto and payments.

Cardano whales made their biggest move in four months. ADA then fell 8% and became the worst performer in the top 30. AI predicts Cardano finds support above its moving averages, because the whale signal everyone read as bullish never said which direction those whales were trading.

ADA now trades at $0.2473, down 3.21% on the day. Volume sits at 13.9 million.

ADA Price Is Dropping: Why Did the Whale Signal Fail?

Whale activity in Cardano (ADA) has surged, according to Santiment. pic.twitter.com/PsK0r5d9YF

Because it was never a signal. Santiment counted 314 transactions above $100,000 on October 5, the highest in over four months. That number tells you large wallets were active. It does not tell you whether they were buying or selling.

A whale taking profit after a 42% run registers exactly the same as a whale accumulating. The metric counts movement, not intent.

ADA’s market cap had climbed more than 42% since September 16. By October 5, it was up almost 11% in a single day to above $0.27. That is precisely the environment where early buyers exit.

The rally had real drivers behind it. RealFi launched on mainnet on October 1, Fireblocks added support, Leios anticipation built, and new institutional integrations arrived. None of that changed when the price fell. The news stayed good, and the chart went red.

Discover: XRP Price Forecast: Binance Whale Movement Worries Holders

What Actually Caused the 8% Drop?

Leverage, and the timing of it. Open interest in ADA jumped roughly 25% in a few days to over $300 million. Those positions were opened near the top of an 11% candle.

When a market-wide liquidation flush arrived, ADA carried more exposure per dollar of market cap than most of its peers. It fell hardest for that reason, not because anything broke on the network.

Social dominance adds the final piece. ADA reached 1.16% of all crypto conversation, the highest reading of 2026, and it did so as the price turned down.

That sequence matters. Whales moved first, retailers noticed second, and the people who arrived last are the ones now underwater.

Peak attention on a falling chart is a late signal, not an early one.

The structure is better than the candle suggests. ADA holds above both its 50-day and 200-day EMAs. The 200 day sits at $0.2410 and the 50 day at $0.2280, with the faster average rising toward the slower one from below.

AI predicts Cardano will be decided at these levels:

The floor: $0.2371. Reclaimed during the October 5 rally. Holding it proves old resistance has turned into support.

The ceiling: $0.2956. The level that rejected ADA in the spring and again in June. Roughly 20% above spot.

The upside case: $0.4019. The 2023 range high is the only level that confirms a real trend change.

Watch $0.2410 first. Losing the 200-day EMA would undo the September recovery and put $0.2280 in play.

Hold it, and this reads as leverage being cleared out of a rally that still has its fundamentals intact.

Fed Rate Polymarket odds put no change at 86% for the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on October 27 to 28, with a 25-basis-point increase at 14%. CME’s FedWatch tool, on the other hand points the same way, at 81.7% for no change and 18.3% for a hike.

CME’s FedWatch CME

The pricing aligns with a broader market expectation of an October hold.

This is not simply a pause in the rate path. The primary source’s summary of September meeting minutes says most participants considered another hike appropriate by year-end, leaving Bitcoin exposed to a later tightening move even if October passes without a change.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth is On Polymarket

Fed Rate Polymarket Odds: A Snapshot, Not a Fed Forecast

Fed Rate Polymarket Odds Polymarket

In Polymarket’s “Fed Decision in October?” market, the smaller outcomes are all below 1%: a 25-basis-point cut at 0.5%, an increase of 50 basis points or more at 0.4%, and a cut of 50 basis points or more at 0.2%. Total volume is $28.87M. The chart shows no change and a 25-basis-point increase crossing near 50% in September, before a hold climbed back to 86%.

The Fed’s target range stands at 3.75% to 4.00% after a 25-basis-point increase in September, with the effective federal funds rate near 3.88%. A hold would leave rates at a restrictive level, not change the policy direction.

Later meetings look less settled. Polymarket’s December market prices show a 25-basis-point increase at 76% and no change at 23%. Its market on rate cuts in 2026 puts zero cuts at 96%, so traders are not pricing relief either.

The Fed Rate Polymarket odds for December already lean toward a hike.

Market Intelligence: Crypto Analyst Predicts Best New Crypto to Hodl

Why an October Hold May Only Delay the Next Move

The hold consensus rests on softer-than-expected inflation and labor-market data. August’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% month over month and 3.4% year over year. But the September FOMC minutes said most participants considered another hike appropriate by year-end.

The next data catalyst is the September CPI report on October 14. A hotter reading or hawkish guidance could move pricing toward a hike. A softer one could reinforce the October hold without settling the year-end path. The December 8 to 9 meeting keeps a later decision in view.

For Bitcoin, an October hold would reduce the risk of an immediate tightening shock, but it would leave the 3.75% to 4.00% range in place and December hike risk alive. The October price alone does not show how Bitcoin will respond. The real question is whether incoming data keeps the hold view intact through December.

The relationship between rate expectations and Bitcoin volatility can run through changing policy expectations and risk appetite, as discussed in coverage of central-bank rate odds and Bitcoin volatility.

Bitcoin’s slide began on Wednesday morning and did not stop for 24 hours. It touched $82,200, the lowest print in over two weeks. The descent was not one event. It was four rejections stacked on top of each other. For now, AI predicts BTC to stabilize above its moving averages despite this leg down, because every level that defines the uptrend is still intact beneath the price.

Bitcoin Liquidations Coinglass

Total crypto market cap has fallen from $2.920 trillion to $2.810 trillion over 36 hours, roughly $110 billion. The liquidation data explains the speed. CoinGlass logged $406.88 million wiped across 94,733 traders in 24 hours, and $355.21 million of that was long positions against just $51.66 million in shorts.

Bitcoin took $121.90 million of the damage, Ethereum $82.35 million. The single largest order was a $11.82 million BTC/USDT position on Binance. Traders bought each dip in this sequence and were removed at each rejection.

As of today, BTC trades near $83,000. Market cap has fallen to $1.660 trillion, while dominance over altcoins holds flat at 59%.

What Turned a Jobs Report Into a 17 Day Low?

Last week’s data painted a mixed picture for the US economy.

Nonfarm payrolls slowed to 29K and job openings fell to 7.079M, while consumer spending remained firm. Services activity also stayed in expansion territory at 54.9 this Monday, although slightly below expectations.… pic.twitter.com/YXD3oHs598

The reaction, not the data. September US labor figures came in weaker than expected. Bitcoin read that as dovish and jumped straight to $87,250. That was the high of the week, and it lasted hours.

What followed was a $3,000 collapse that carried the price below $84,000. The move punished everyone who bought the initial spike. Bulls regrouped. BTC reclaimed $84,000 on Saturday and pushed toward $87,000 again on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The same rejection was repeated. Price dipped to $85,000, rebounded to $86,700, then met sellers a third time. That third refusal did the real damage. Bitcoin dropped $2,000 in 20 minutes. The bounce stalled at $84,300, well below the previous rebound, and the slide continued to $82,200 on Thursday.

Each recovery high came in lower than the last. That pattern describes the supply sitting at $87,000 rather than buyers disappearing.

AI Predicts BTC Levels: Where Does the Descent Stop?

BTCUSDT Chart 1D TradingView

The daily chart has not broken, which is the argument against panic. Bitcoin has reclaimed both its 50-day and 200-day EMAs in September and still trades above them. The 50-day sits at $79,687, the 200-day at $75,239, and the faster average remains above the slower one.

AI predicts BTC price will be decided at these levels:

The shelf: $80,660. Roughly 2% below spot, and the support that held through late September. First real test of this slide.

The structural floor: $79,687. The 50-day EMA. Losing it ends the uptrend argument and exposes $75,239.

The ceiling: $87,145. Rejected three times in five sessions. A daily close above it ends the lower highs sequence.

Watch $80,660 first. A hold there with the EMAs underneath keeps this a correction inside an uptrend. A break turns the Wednesday slide into something structural, with little support until the 50-day average.

Above, nothing changes until $87,000 stops rejecting. Three failures at one level is a seller with size, and until that supply clears, rallies into it remain fades.

Glamsterdam’s Sepolia test left more than half of its new block capacity unused, offering infrastructure data but no Ethereum mainnet launch date yet.

Following the latest Ethereum news, the Glamsterdam upgrade raised Sepolia’s block-gas limit from about 60 million to nearly 200 million. The upgrade activated on the public testnet on Tuesday, October 6, and the sampled blocks were reported by early Thursday, October 8; Ethereum has not set a mainnet activation date.

This is not simply a higher ceiling. It is a test of how much additional block space Ethereum can make available while keeping larger blocks practical for the validators and nodes that process them.

The Glamsterdam Sepolia changes include updates to block production and validation, not just a larger gas limit.

Ethereum News: What Sepolia’s Early Blocks Show

Sepolia is a public test network where developers trial software using tokens with no real-world value before considering deployment on Ethereum. Gas measures the computing work required to process transactions. On the live network, users compete for block space when activity exceeds available capacity, which can push fees higher; a larger allowance could accommodate more payments and trades before that competition intensifies.

In CoinDesk’s sample, no block came close to filling the new allowance, leaving more than half of its nominal capacity unused. That demonstrates headroom, not sustained demand at the new ceiling. Nor does a limit more than three times higher mean three times as many transactions can fit in a block: Glamsterdam changes the gas costs assigned to particular operations, so transaction counts depend on what those transactions do.

A separate six-minute voting period produced all 32 scheduled blocks, while 99.97% of eligible testnet stake voted toward finality.

That observation concerns a distinct period from the block-usage sample and should not be read as evidence that the sampled blocks were near capacity.

Ethereum Gas Limit: Capacity Depends on Infrastructure

Ethereum Gas Etherescan

More activity still increases demands on the computers running Ethereum, particularly if blocks regularly approach the larger allowance. The upgrade changes charges for creating and accessing stored data, linking the capacity test to the longer-term question of state growth. Developers have been told to retest applications that rely on particular gas costs. The Ethereum roadmap describes these processing and data-management changes as part of scaling while keeping hardware requirements manageable.

That infrastructure trade-off matters alongside block space: Ethereum’s node footprint shapes which operators can participate and how broadly validation can remain distributed, as discussed in coverage of Ethereum’s post-Merge infrastructure. Broader network activity also provides context for why a higher limit has not yet translated into consistently full blocks, as reflected in Ethereum network data.

The next public testnet milestone, Hoodi, is tentatively planned for October 27, pending Sepolia results. Based on the latest Ethereum news, no mainnet activation date has been set.
