She (Ramota) had two children and they were just coming in and going out in the afternoon. She was sleeping inside and maybe because of her condition, her children did not want to disturb her.

“Her last born left her at home around 2pm to pray. I saw her in the morning and she was fine when she greeted me outside and entered her apartment. She was a businesswoman. It was raining in the evening when her last born returned home to break his fast.

“Her husband also came to check her, because he was worried that she had not been responding to his phone calls. She also failed to respond to her children’s shouts to open the door. So, they had to break the door to gain entry and when we entered, we saw her sitting motionless on the floor of the bathroom.

“She was naked, but we couldn’t say if she fell or another thing was responsible for us meeting her in that condition. But it appeared that she was trying to take her bath. All of us raised the alarm and her husband went to the police station to report the incident.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that after the police visited Ramota’s residence, she was evacuated to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Titilope, however, said surgery was performed on Ramota’s corpse to remove the already dead foetus.

She said, “Her family members were notified about what happened. The police also came and confirmed that she was dead. Neighbours and residents of the area also confirmed the same.

“She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead. But because she was heavily pregnant, a surgical operation was performed on her corpse to remove the dead foetus from her. She was buried the following day somewhere in Ogijo, Ogun State.”

Ramota’s elder sister, Kudirat, told PUNCH Metro that the family gave its consent for her to be buried, adding that members had visited the site where she was buried.

Kudirat stated, “We no longer have parents. We don’t live here, but it was her neighbours who informed us about the incident. The man that impregnated her does not live with her. We don’t have his contact; we only knew him when he got our sister pregnant; but now, our sister and her unborn child are dead.

“We were not around when our sister was buried, but we gave our consent. We didn’t come to blame anyone; we only came to Lagos to check where she was buried in Ogijo. Our family members have already taken the children to the village.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said no visible mark of violence was seen on Ramota’s corpse when the police visited her apartment.

He said, “One Sikiru Salami reported at the station that on April 18, 2021, he received information that his wife, Ramota Raheem, 38, who was eight-month pregnant, was found dead by co-tenants in her room when her door was forced open.

“The Scene of the incident was visited and no visible marks of violence were seen on the body of the deceased.”

- PUNCH

NaijaNews247http://www.blogger.com/profile/09758606154390080590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6980186347565285058.post-83077908709089552032021-04-28T10:22:00.000+01:002021-04-28T10:22:10.437+01:00About 2,000 Motorcycles (okadas) impounded in Lagos massive raid [Photos]

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday disclosed that about 2,000 motorcycles, popularly known as okadas were impounded in Lagos within two days.

Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde disclosed this at a ministerial news conference to mark the second year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in office.

The commissioner lamented the lawlessness of okada riders in the state, saying that while 1,000 okadas were impounded on Sunday, another 1,000 were impounded on Monday.

He said the government would not go back on the enforcement on okada riders from plying strategic routes in Lagos.
NaijaNews247http://www.blogger.com/profile/09758606154390080590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6980186347565285058.post-10215060553919940062021-04-28T10:15:00.003+01:002021-04-28T10:15:49.444+01:00NCC fines MTN, Glo, Airtel, N78.5m for breaching its rules

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has fined three top telecommunication companies in Nigeria the sum of N78.5 million.

MTN, Globacom, Airtel, and 9mobile were all found to have breached the rules guiding them in the process of replacing SIMs for their customers, thus incurring the wrath of the regulator.

New Telegraph reports that while three of the operators are to pay the fine, 9mobile was said to have been issued a ‘strong warning’ by the commission as it recorded the lowest number of breaches.

According to the NCC, the infractions were discovered in its SIM replacement audit conducted in the fourth quarter of 2020.

“All the four mobile network operators, MTN, Airtel, Globacom and 9Mobile (EMTS), were found to be in absolute breach of the SIM Replacement Guidelines at the last SIM replacement audit exercise conducted by the commission. Hour after hour; breaking news after breaking news, we saw numerous unacceptable reports of violence, kidnapping, terrorism, and the systematic breakdown of law and order in many parts of the nation. This should not be so.

“We read reports of Boko Haram hoisting up its flag in Niger State, in Shiroro LGA that houses one of Nigeria’s largest power stations and is just about 200 kilometres from our federal capital.

“We also read the statement of the Niger State governor, where he expressed how helpless the government has become, and how thousands of people have been displaced in his state. He also lamented how the efforts of the federal government have not yielded concrete results.

“We also received sad and disturbing reports that Mainok, a town on the Damaturu-Maiduguri highway was invaded on Sunday by the insurgents who unabashedly went on a killing spree — targeting our brave soldiers and innocent civilians alike. Nine people were said to have been killed by hoodlums that invaded Ukpomachi Village, Awkuzu in Oyi LGA of Anambra State.

“In Kaduna State, two more innocent students that were kidnapped from Greenfield University were killed by their abductors. While, an unspecified number of students have now been abducted from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue State. All in one day. All within a 24-hour news cycle. This cannot continue. This cannot become Nigeria’s new normal,” Saraki said.

According to Saraki, “it is obvious that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) government need help. They have been overwhelmed by the situation and they sure need assistance from all.

“Thus, I urge Mr. President to seek help wherever it can be given. WILL THEY EVER LEARN?

From Sunday afternoon till evening, I was harried and harassed with phone calls by some people in the media. Can you please confirm the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari? He came into the country on Thursday, and he hasn’t been seen since then. Information at our disposal says his health has taken a turn for the worse.

I wondered where the falsity was coming from. But patiently, I tried to respond to the enquiries, reasoning with the callers that the President came back to the country early Thursday evening, in the full glare of Nigerians. He even granted an interview at the airport, saying his routine medical checks went well. On Friday, he was in the office, and equally attended the Jumat service. Saturday was for rest and time with the family.

So from where did the pernicious rumour start on Sunday? From evil-hearted people, who never love to see or hear any form of good. They are people who spend their days expecting the storm, and so they never enjoy the rainfall. From day one in office, they have hounded and hectored the President, but God simply laughs them to scorn. Who is man that says anything and it comes to pass, when God has not said so?

When President Buhari took ill in 2017, they said all sorts of things. They hired prophets, who uttered lies from between their teeth. They said Buhari would not return as President, that his time was already up. But man will always be man. Finite. Limited. No matter the title he parades, man will never have the final say. That is the exclusive preserve of God. After many months, the President came back to assume duties, very well mended. It was a great medical comeback, wrought by God and God alone, in His mercy.

You would think they would learn their lessons, hide their faces in shame, and throw up their hands in surrender. But they love beatings, so they continue to speak and wish evil. But each time, it falls right in their faces. Will they never learn that God has the ultimate say?

All through last year, after a trip to a conference in London in January, and COVID-19 broke out in full force, the President never went out for any form of medical attention. Na God o.. But when he announced on March 29 this year that he would travel next day, and return within the second week of April, they began to beat the drums of malediction again. They had learnt nothing, and forgot nothing.

Why hasn’t he built world class hospitals in Nigeria? How much is the trip going to cost the tax payers? Are we sure he would come back as indicated within the second week?

That second week was not to lapse till Saturday last week. Right from Monday, they had begun to bully and badger us. When is he coming back? We are in the second week now. Are you sure he’s coming? For me, I simply told them: our press statement was written in English, go and check it again. Read it all over. He would return within the second week in April. Was the second week over?

Some Nigerians have made it a pastime to pester and attempt to browbeat the President. I laugh. They don’t know the person they are dealing with. A cool customer. Never flustered, harried or disconcerted. He simply focuses on what he is doing, ignoring the noise of the market. Kick like a dying horse, shout yourselves hoarse, curse, murmur like a ghost, hiss like a snake, President Buhari keeps his eyes on the ball. It’s a big lesson to learn from him. When you are in the market, ignore the din, and concentrate on the person you are transacting business with.

To some of those who bothered me endlessly about the health of the President on Sunday, I just responded: wait till tomorrow, you would see him receiving the new President of Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum.

And on Monday, the President stood ramrod straight at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, to welcome his guest. The naysayers ate the humble pie. Like a beaten dog, they slunk away with their tails between their legs.

Each time they come, they get beaten. Why don’t they learn their lessons, and admit that the life and times of this President, like that of every man, is in the hands of God? Why do the heathens rage, and the people imagine vain things?

For those who think they make life difficult for President Buhari when they hound him, let them know that no leaf falls from the tree without the permission of God. And even the very hairs on our heads are numbered, and no strand will drop without the knowledge of the Almighty. In vain do they chivvy, hound and harass. God has the final say, and is with this President. They should just calm down.

Adesina is Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity.
NaijaNews247http://www.blogger.com/profile/09758606154390080590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6980186347565285058.post-79016559984207788482021-04-23T20:54:00.000+01:002021-04-23T20:54:04.049+01:00Nigeria becomes country with worst access to electricity globally (Details)

Nigeria has overtaken the Democratic Republic of Congo to become the nation with the worst access to electricity globally.

This was according to a new update by the World Bank.

In a virtual engagement with journalists in Abuja on the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PSRP), World Bank officials said 25 percent of Nigeria’s population did not have access to electricity supply.

The bank added that many of the over 200 million Nigerian population with access to electricity had battled widespread blackouts and unreliable electricity supply for years.

“Nigeria now has the largest number of unelectrified people globally, and the trend is worsening; of the electrified, the supply is very unreliable with widespread blackouts.

“Nigeria now has 25 per cent more unelectrified people than the second most unelectrified country (DRC – in absolute terms).

The United Nations on Saturday said two civilians including a five-year-old child were killed and an aid helicopter damaged in a jihadist attack in restive northeast Nigeria.

Boko Haram fighters waging a decade-long insurgency in the region launched the attack in the town of Damasak on Thursday.

UN humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria Edward Kallon said both the fatalities and several others who were injured in the attack were on the ground.

“A UN Humanitarian Air Service helicopter was hit by bullets during the attack. No aid workers were on board at the time and crew members are all safe,” Kallon said in a statement.

A UN communication seen by AFP said the aircraft was shot as it approached Damasak and the pilots managed to fly back to regional capital Maiduguri 150 kilometres (90 miles) away.

The memo said the UN was suspending rotational flights for one week “to engage with government partners and conduct new risk assessments”.

Helicopters provide a vital link carrying humanitarian personnel and delivering aid to an estimated 7.8 million people in urgent need of assistance across northeast Nigeria.

The 10-year jihadist conflict has killed 36,000 people and forced some 2 million from their home in the region.

Key roads remain too dangerous to travel despite the Nigerian military repeatedly insisting it has largely defeated the insurgents.

The UN has complained of an uptick in attacks targeting aid workers in the northeast of the country.

The area around Damasak on the border with Niger is dominated by the Islamic State West Africa Province, which broke away from jihadist group Boko Haram in 2016.

NaijaNews247http://www.blogger.com/profile/09758606154390080590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6980186347565285058.post-41501804926815988262020-07-05T02:56:00.001+01:002020-07-05T02:56:51.704+01:00Hushpuppi Is An Angel Compared To Buhari - Reno Omokri

In his latest Master class series former Presidential media aide Reno Omokri compared the now disgraced Dubai celebrity Hushpuppi who scammed over a million people to President Buhari who he says scammed over 200 million people .

In this short clip Reno described and provided detailed analysis of how Buhari scammed Nigerians.

NaijaNews247http://www.blogger.com/profile/09758606154390080590noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6980186347565285058.post-82052975994568707072020-06-10T19:35:00.000+01:002020-06-10T19:35:02.416+01:00 Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury agree to two blockbuster fights

Since Fury knocked out Wilder not quite long, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, as been trying to get the Brits to face each other.

He seems to have gotten his wish.

According to Eddie Hearn, terms are already in place for the British world heavyweight champions to go head to head.

Though no contracts have been signed, Hearn expects WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder Joshua to face WBC champion Fury to determine the undisputed king of the heavyweight scene in 2021.

Speaking with Sky Sports earlier today, he said;

“We’re making great progress.
