This episode of Conversations with Ross features Peter Mehlman. Peter is a writer who in addition to creating his own show (It’s Like, You Know) also was a staff writer on Seinfeld.
Peter spoke in detail about how Seinfeld scripts came together. There was not a traditional writers’ room on the show, Peter explained why that worked for him. He gave a short list of his favorite episodes and offered some behind-the-scenes stories of the show.
He also discussed his experience running his own sitcom. He made what he called “every wrong decision he could possibly make.” There is some great stuff here for anyone curious about what it’s like to run your own network show.
I hope you listen to and enjoy our conversation.  This interview is also available to download for free on iTunes and Stitcher.

This episode of Conversations with Ross features Sean Pamphilon. Sean directed the documentary The United States of  Football which chronicles how head trauma affects the lives of many retired NFL players. Sean and I discussed the NFL’s responsibility in preventing and treating concussions, why ESPN has questionable credibility when it comes to covering the NFL, and the archaic macho culture that surrounds football at every level.
Sean also discussed when the NFL knew they had a concussion problem, why they covered it up, and their recent settlement with the more than 4,000 former players who were suing them with regards to the issue of head trauma.
This is an honest look inside the making of a film that neither the NFL or ESPN wanted to get made.

This episode of Conversations with Ross features Anson Mount. Anson is an actor who is currently starring on AMC’s Hell on Wheels. In addition to focusing on his role as Cullen Bohannan, Anson also discussed how he broke in, how the industry has changed since then, and why Los Angeles wasn’t for him.
He also discussed the short film he wrote and directed Last Time We Checked, his worst audition experience, and why teaching at Columbia has made him a better actor.
This is an honest peek inside the life of a working actor. I hope you listen to and enjoy our conversation.  This interview is also available to download for free on iTunes and Stitcher.

Gildart discussed how and why he transitioned from a successful entertainment lawyer to an actor. He also spoke about the challenges of breaking in at an older age, and his worst audition experience.
He also discussed the independent film he made with his wife Melora Hardin, You. He called writing the script a love letter to Melora and he refereed to the film (which she directed) as a love letter back to him.
This is an honest peek inside the life of a working actor. I hope you listen to and enjoy our conversation.  This interview is also available to download for free on iTunes and Stitcher.
