Apple’s M4 Max chip is a powerhouse, supporting up to four external displays—two via Thunderbolt and two via HDMI, depending on the model configuration. However, not all docks are created equal. While an Anker dock with multiple video outputs might seem like the perfect all-in-one solution, macOS doesn’t always play nice with multi-display output from a single USB-C or Thunderbolt port unless the dock uses DisplayLink technology or is Thunderbolt-certified with proper passthrough.
