China Appreciates Pakistan’s Diplomatic Efforts in Regional Peace Initiatives

Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional stability and facilitating communication between the United States and Iran during a period of heightened tensions.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing, President Xi acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting peace efforts and strengthening dialogue in the region. He also appreciated the contributions of Pakistan’s leadership in encouraging diplomatic engagement.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan had actively supported initiatives focused on reducing tensions and promoting stability. He noted that continued diplomatic cooperation among regional and global stakeholders remains important for lasting peace.

The prime minister also thanked China for backing Pakistan’s peace-focused initiatives and highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two countries on regional and international matters.

In addition to diplomatic discussions, Pakistan and China signed several agreements and memorandums of understanding during a business and investment conference held in Beijing. The agreements reportedly covered sectors such as information technology, telecommunications, agriculture, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and energy storage systems.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also met senior representatives from Chinese technology companies, including Alibaba executives, where discussions focused on long-term cooperation in digital trade, healthcare technology, cloud infrastructure, fintech and AI development.

Separately, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology announced new partnerships with Chinese organizations to support digital innovation, AI research, cloud services, 5G cooperation and technology training programs in Pakistan.

The visit also marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, reflecting the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two countries.

Punjab to Launch Electric Bus Service in Another District After Eid

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has said that the provincial government is continuing efforts to modernize public transport by introducing safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly travel options across the province.

During a visit to Attock, the minister reviewed preparations at the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand, and appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Attock.

Speaking to the media, he said that arrangements for launching the Green Electric Bus Service in Attock are in the final stages under the direction of the Chief Minister Punjab.

He added that the electric bus service is expected to begin operations within a few days after Eid ul Azha.

According to the minister, the new buses will offer modern facilities including mobile charging ports, a cashless payment system, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and a dedicated space for women passengers.

He also said the fare has been set at Rs. 20 to ensure affordable travel for the public.

Officials stated that the electric buses will help reduce air pollution and noise levels while improving overall urban transport services in the district.

The minister further reiterated that strict action will be taken against overcharging, overloading, and violations of transport regulations during the Eid period.

PM Shehbaz Calls for Stronger Pakistan–China Cooperation to Support Peace Efforts in Middle East

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for Pakistan and China to work closely together to support peace efforts in the Middle East amid ongoing regional tensions.

He made these remarks during delegation-level talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The prime minister is currently on a four-day official visit to China.

During the meeting, PM Shehbaz described the current global situation as “critical” and stressed that instability in the Middle East is affecting not only the region but also the global economy.

He said both Pakistan and China should “stand together” to help restore stability and ensure that normal economic and diplomatic activities can resume.

The prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to support mediation and dialogue in the region, noting that regional leaders have been actively engaged in diplomatic outreach.

He thanked China for its continued support in promoting peace initiatives and acknowledged Beijing’s role in encouraging dialogue and ceasefire efforts.

PM Shehbaz also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its long-standing strategic partnership with China, describing the relationship as rooted in trust, cooperation, and shared development goals.

Both sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, technology, and the next phase of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to officials, the two countries agreed to further deepen cooperation in areas such as industrial development, clean energy, digital transformation, and scientific research.

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were also signed during the visit, covering multiple sectors including agriculture, education, climate change, and media cooperation.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening the “all-weather strategic partnership” and advancing joint development initiatives for mutual benefit.

Senior Pakistani officials, including members of the federal cabinet and military leadership, accompanied the prime minister during the meetings.

The visit is expected to further enhance diplomatic and economic ties between Pakistan and China while expanding cooperation under CPEC and related development frameworks.

Fatal Motorway Accident Claims 16 Lives in Swat Expressway Crash

At least 16 people lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident on the Swat Expressway (M-16 Motorway), according to Motorway Police.

Officials said the incident occurred when a passenger van travelling from Rawalpindi to Dir collided with a stationary bus that was en route from Karachi to Buner. The impact was severe, leaving the van badly damaged.

Rescue teams and Motorway Police immediately reached the site and shifted the deceased and injured passengers to Mardan Medical Complex for medical assistance.

Authorities confirmed that the victims included men, women, elderly passengers, and children, highlighting the severity of the crash.

Initial reports suggest that negligence and overspeeding may have contributed to the accident. However, officials stated that a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and assured that the provincial government stands with them in this difficult time.

He also confirmed that the injured are receiving full medical treatment at the hospital.

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety, particularly on highways where speeding and parked vehicles often lead to serious collisions.
