Pakistan’s snooker star Asjad Iqbal finished as the runner-up at the IBSF World Snooker Cup 2025, securing a well-earned silver medal after a 5-2 loss to England’s Harvey Chandler in the final held at the Oman Entertainment and Sports Hub on Wednesday.

Chandler took early control of the match, capitalising on a loose break from Asjad to claim the opening frame 83-0.
Asjad, who earlier defeated France’s Nicolas Mortreux 5-2 in the semi-final, showed great determination and levelled the match by taking the second frame through a composed and confident display.

The momentum shifted frequently as both players battled for control. Chandler edged a tight third frame and then extended his lead with an excellent 67 clearance in the fourth.
Despite a difficult moment that led Asjad to concede another frame, he recovered impressively to win the fifth frame 86-3 with a focused break of 54.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced a final three-day extension for applicants of the Hajj 2026 Government Scheme to submit their second installment, with the new deadline now set for November 19.

According to a ministry spokesperson, all applicants must deposit their remaining dues by the revised date. The ministry also cautioned that applications from those who fail to submit payments within this final period will be cancelled.

The second installment was initially scheduled to be paid between November 3 and November 10, 2025. After receiving numerous requests, the deadline was first extended to November 15. However, many applicants were still unable to complete the payment, prompting the ministry to allow one last grace period.

To facilitate the process, designated banks were instructed to remain open on Saturday, November 15, to collect payments from applicants.

The ministry has urged all participants of the Hajj 2026 Government Scheme to make full use of this final opportunity and ensure their dues are submitted on time to secure their place.

Pakistan has officially introduced its first fully regulated ship bunkering service at Karachi Port, marking a major advancement in the country’s maritime capabilities. The new system brings Pakistan in line with international safety, fuel handling, and operational standards.

Maritime Affairs Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the launch, stating that standardized bunkering will strengthen Karachi Port’s competitiveness and encourage more global shipping lines to consider Pakistan for reliable and efficient refueling.

Previously, commercial vessels visiting Pakistani ports often refueled in Fujairah or Singapore due to the lack of a local facility.

The newly launched service allows ships to receive marine fuel directly at Karachi Port through a fully controlled, compliant, and secure process. The operation is being carried out by Vitol, a leading global energy trading company that has started refueling vessels using its barge. Meanwhile, Cnergyico’s Karachi refinery has begun supplying very low sulphur fuel oil that meets global specifications.

Officials at the Karachi Port Trust noted that the new bunkering setup is expected to increase ship traffic and generate additional revenue through port fees, marine services, and associated commercial activities.

They also highlighted that regional developments—such as India’s decision restricting ships that visit Pakistani ports—make it even more important for Pakistan to enhance its own maritime services.

The maritime minister emphasized that the new facility fills a long-standing gap in Pakistan’s port operations and strengthens the country’s position in the global maritime sector. Compliance with international rules on fuel quality, documentation, environmental safety, and transparency has been central to the initiative.

According to the ministry, the first phase of the service is being conducted in collaboration with an international energy firm under certified global procedures. Further expansion is expected as local refineries increase production of refined marine fuels that meet international standards, helping bring in more foreign exchange.

An Indian Sikh woman who traveled to Pakistan as part of a religious pilgrimage has embraced Islam and married a Pakistani man, officials confirmed.

The woman, previously known as Sarbjeet Kaur, adopted the name Noor after her conversion. According to the marriage certificate, the 48-year-old married Nasir Hussain, a resident of Farooqabad in Sheikhupura district, on November 5. The document notes that the agreed haq mehr of Rs. 10,000 has already been paid.

Sarbjeet Kaur entered Pakistan on November 4 with a group of Sikh pilgrims visiting for the birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak. When the group returned to India on November 13, she was not among them, and her visa expired the same day. Authorities initially considered her missing due to her absence.
