On Saturday August 29, 2015, Reel Affirmation (as well with their sponsor, AIDS Healthcare Foundation) will be presenting a feature length film, Age of Consent.

In "Age of Consent", 'Liberty is precious, so take none of your freedoms for granted' might be the message of this Adults-Only peek inside London's notorious gay male fetish bar The Hoist. A labyrinth of enigmatic chambers snaking through two old stone train arches, the bar opened at a time when male homosexuality was still outlawed in Britain and it has long been an oasis of erotic fantasy in a sometimes hostile environment. In this daring and informative documentary by veteran queer filmmakers Charles Lum and Todd Verow, the fantasy springs to life via sexually explicit scenes of men at play inside the Hoist, alongside engaging interviews with some of the crew and characters who populate the bar, and some choice words from leading human rights activist Peter Tatchell, who helps bring all the gay BDSM action thoughtfully into historical perspective. It's a world that can seem intimidating to some, obscene to others, yet like sanctuary for myriad self-proclaimed freaks, deviants and dissidents alike. This charismatic portrait of the leather and fetish scene is not for the prudish, but as long as everyone's consenting, come inside and meet the men of the Hoist.- Andre Hereford, Film Festival Programming Team Member

Starting at 11pm at the GALA HIspanic/Tivoli Theatre 3333 14th Street NW, Washington DC 20009

The weekend celebration includes two evening dances, a Leather Exhibit Hall, and many other elements. MAL has been preserved by the men of the Centaur Motorcycle Club, and is sustained by the Washington community and a multitude of Leather/Levi clubs and supporters from all over the world.
