The moon hung over the Annecy mist like a cataract eye, milky and unseeing, casting long, skeletal shadows across the ramparts of Château Guillard. Inside the stone walls, the air did not circulate; it simply sat, heavy with the scent of old lilies and the metallic tang of chilled oil. Amélie Lacroix, the woman the world feared as Widowmaker, stood motionless in the gallery of her ancestors. Her skin, a shade of blue that suggested the depths of a frozen lake, felt tight across her knuckles as she gripped the Widow’s Kiss. Her heart rhythm was a slow, deliberate march—ten beats per minute, a metronome for a funeral that never ended.

Tonight, the silence of the Château was not her own. There was a secondary stillness layered over it, a manufactured vacuum that prickled the fine hairs on her neck. It was a presence that didn’t displace the air, but rather consumed it. Talon had sent word through the encrypted channels of a "Successor Protocol," a refinement of the project that had birthed her. They called the girl Soline. She was not a daughter, but a revision—a draft written in the same cold ink, but with a sharper nib.

"It is rude to linger in the doorway without an invitation, chérie," Amélie said, her voice a low, melodic rasp that barely disturbed the dust motes. "Even for a ghost."

From the velvet darkness of the arched corridor, a figure coalesced. She was smaller than Amélie, her movements possessed of an unnatural fluidity, as if her bones were made of mercury. Soline’s skin was not blue, but a translucent, pearlescent grey, and her eyes were two spheres of polished obsidian. She carried a long-barreled rifle that looked less like a weapon and more like a surgical instrument.

"I didn't think you would hear me," Soline replied. Her voice had a strange, harmonic quality, like two flutes playing slightly out of tune. "The technicians said your auditory processing had peaked. They said I was the only one who could walk through a room full of glass and never wake the air."

"Technicians are men who play with clocks they do not understand," Amélie said, turning slowly. She didn't raise her rifle yet. To do so would be a concession to fear. "They see the gears, but they do not feel the time passing. Why are you here, Soline? Did the Council decide my heart was beating too fast?"

Soline stepped into a shaft of moonlight. She was beautiful in the way a landslide is beautiful—a perfect arrangement of destruction. She leaned against a marble pillar, her posture casual, almost intimate. "They think you've become a relic, Amélie. A beautiful painting in a gallery no one visits anymore. They want to know if the spider still has its venom, or if it has simply become fond of its web."

"And you are the one to test the potency?" Amélie’s lips curled into a ghost of a smile, one that lacked any warmth. "You are very young. There is a certain... humidity to your soul. I can smell the life still clinging to you. It’s messy."

Soline laughed, a sound like breaking ice. "Is that what you tell yourself? That your emptiness makes you superior? I was grown in a vat of liquid nitrogen and fed on the memories of your failures. I don’t just kill, Amélie. I erase. When I pull the trigger, the target doesn't just die; the world forgets they ever existed. That is the true precision Talon desires."

The air between them grew thick, charged with the static of an impending storm. Amélie felt a flicker of something she hadn't felt in years—not fear, but a cold, academic curiosity. This girl was a mirror, but the reflection was distorted, showing a future where even the memory of Gérard might be stripped away, leaving her truly alone in the dark.

"Precision is not just about the hit," Amélie murmured, moving closer, her boots making no sound on the stone. "It is about the wait. The seduction of the moment before the choice is made. Can you feel the heartbeat of the building, Soline? The way the stone groans under the weight of centuries? Or are you too busy listening to the humming of your own enhancements?"

Soline’s obsidian eyes tracked Amélie’s every movement. "I feel the vibrations of your pulse. Eleven beats now. You’re excited. Does the idea of being replaced arouse you, or is it the prospect of a final rest?"

"Death is the only lover who never lies," Amélie whispered, now only a few feet away. The two assassins stood like statues in a cathedral of ghosts. "But he is very particular about who he takes to his bed. You talk of erasing people, yet you stand here seeking my validation. You want me to see you. You want the legend to acknowledge the shadow."

Soline’s grip tightened on her rifle. For a second, the mask of cold efficiency slipped, revealing a raw, jagged hunger. "I don't need your acknowledgement. I need your place."

Suddenly, the gallery exploded into a blur of motion. Soline didn't fire; she lunged, using her rifle as a staff to sweep Amélie’s legs. Amélie leaped, her body twisting in mid-air with the grace of a falling ribbon. She fired a grappling hook into the vaulted ceiling, swinging upward just as a silent bolt from Soline’s rifle hissed through the space where her chest had been a millisecond before.

Amélie landed on a high chandelier, the crystals jingling like a funeral dirge. "Too fast," she critiqued, looking down. "You are rushing the climax. A kill should be a poem, not a scream."

Soline was already moving, vanishing into the shadows of the lower floor. Her voice drifted up from the darkness, echoing from multiple directions. "You hide in the heights because you are afraid of the ground. You think you are a spider, but you are just a fly caught in a larger web. Talon doesn't want a poet. They want a machine."

"Then they should have sent a drone," Amélie countered. She dropped from the chandelier, her cloak billowing like a shroud. She hit the floor and rolled, coming up in a crouch behind a row of ancient armor.

A series of muffled thuds shook the room. Soline was using sonic dampeners to mask her footsteps, but she was also venting heat. Amélie flipped down her visor. The world turned into a tapestry of infrared heat signatures. Soline was a blur of violet and pale blue, moving behind the tapestries on the far wall.

"I can see the cold within you, little one," Amélie said, her voice drifting through the room’s intercom system, which she had triggered with a remote pulse. "But it is a brittle cold. It lacks the depth of the abyss."

Amélie fired. The bullet tore through a 17th-century tapestry, missing Soline’s head by an inch. Soline responded with a volley of flechette rounds that shredded the wooden partitions. They moved through the Château like two ghosts haunting the same house, a deadly dance of repositioning and psychological probing.

They ended up in the grand ballroom, a space of cracked mirrors and tattered gold leaf. The moonlight poured through the skylight, illuminating the dust. Soline stood at one end, Amélie at the other. Both rifles were leveled, the barrels pointed at the precise center of each other’s foreheads.

"We could stay like this until the sun rises," Soline said, her breathing steady, almost non-existent. "But the sun doesn't shine for us, does it?"

"It only serves to reveal the ugliness of the world," Amélie agreed. "Tell me, Soline. When they made you, did they leave the dreams? Or did they scrape the inside of your skull clean?"

Soline’s eyes flickered. "I dream of falling. Constantly. A long, dark drop into nothing."

"That is not a dream," Amélie said, her voice softening into something almost tender, yet infinitely more terrifying. "That is your soul trying to find the floor. I stopped falling a long time ago. I am simply... suspended."

"Is that why you kept his name?" Soline asked, her finger twitching on the trigger. "Gérard. I saw the files. You killed him, yet you wear his memory like a piece of jewelry. It’s a weakness. A crack in the glass."

Amélie’s finger didn't move. Her expression remained a mask of porcelain indifference, but her voice dropped an octave. "It is not a weakness to remember the taste of the sun before you chose the night. It makes the night sweeter. You, however... you have never known the sun. You are a creature of the basement, Soline. A copy of a copy, losing resolution with every breath."

Soline’s face contorted in a silent snarl. She fired. Amélie fired.

The bullets met in mid-air with a sharp, metallic clink, spinning away into the darkness. It was a feat of impossible precision, a shared moment of perfection that transcended their mission. In that instant, they weren't just assassins; they were two points of a single, devastating consciousness.

Before Soline could chamber another round, Amélie was on her. She didn't use her rifle; she used a serrated combat knife hidden in her gauntlet. Soline parried with the barrel of her weapon, the metal screeching. They locked together, chest to chest, their faces inches apart.

"You are so close," Amélie whispered, her breath cold against Soline’s cheek. "I can hear it now. Your heart. It’s trying to sync with mine. It wants to slow down. It wants the peace I have."

Soline struggled, her enhanced muscles straining against Amélie’s calculated leverage. "I... I will surpass you. I was designed to be better."

"You were designed to be a tool," Amélie said, her eyes boring into Soline’s obsidian voids. "A tool is replaced when it blunts. But a monster... a monster lives forever in the stories people tell their children to make them behave. You aren't a monster yet, chérie. You are just a frightened girl in a very expensive suit."

Amélie kicked Soline’s knee, a sickening pop echoing through the ballroom. As Soline stumbled, Amélie spun behind her, wrapping a slender, powerful arm around her throat. She didn't squeeze to kill—not yet. She held her in a lethal embrace, a dark parody of a lover's hold.

"Look at the mirrors, Soline," Amélie commanded.

Around them, the shattered glass caught the moonlight, reflecting a thousand fractured versions of the two women. They looked identical in their lethality, two blue-hued specters trapped in a cycle of manufactured violence.

"Do you see the difference?" Amélie asked.

Soline gasped for air, her clawed fingers digging into Amélie’s arm. "There... there is no difference."

"Look closer," Amélie hissed. "I am the one who is smiling. You are the one who is crying."

Soline froze. She looked into a shard of glass on the floor. A single, crystalline tear was tracking down her grey cheek. It wasn't an emotion she recognized; it was a biological protest, a leak in the system. The realization hit her with more force than any bullet. She was a failure because she could still feel the horror of her own existence.

"Talon didn't send you to replace me," Amélie whispered into her ear. "They sent you to see if I would still kill a mirror. They wanted to see if I had grown soft. They wanted to see if I still felt... anything."

"And... do you?" Soline managed to choke out.

Amélie felt her heart. One beat. Two. Three. It was steady. It was cold. It was perfect. She leaned in, her lips almost touching Soline’s ear, and the air in the room seemed to drop another ten degrees.

"I feel a slight pressure in my chest," Amélie said. "It is not pity. It is not love. It is simply the satisfaction of a job well done."

Amélie released the pressure on Soline’s throat, but before the younger girl could recover, Amélie’s hand moved with a blur of lethal intent. The knife didn't find the heart; it found the small, delicate junction at the base of the skull, the place where the neural enhancements met the organic brain.

Soline didn't scream. She simply slumped, her eyes losing their obsidian luster, turning into dull, grey pebbles. She wasn't dead, but the "Successor" had been lobotomized, her personality erased, leaving behind a shell that Talon could use for parts.

Amélie stood over her, breathing slowly. The mist from the lake began to creep into the ballroom, swirling around her ankles like the ghosts of everyone she had ever ended. She picked up her rifle and slung it over her shoulder.

She walked to the window and looked out over the dark waters of Annecy. The world was still silent. The moon was still blind. Somewhere in the distance, an owl shrieked, a lonely, jagged sound in the night.

Amélie checked her pulse.

Ten beats per minute.

"Still a masterpiece," she whispered to the empty room.

She turned and walked into the shadows, leaving the broken reflection of her future on the cold marble floor. The spider had not only defended its web; it had reminded the dark why it was wise to stay in the corners. As she vanished into the gloom of the Château, the only sound left was the faint, rhythmic ticking of a clock that had long ago run out of time. The thirteenth beat never came. Silence had won again.

Since It's hanging next to the Nick superheroes painting I showed off in the last post, I figured it'd be good to make a post about this painting as well. I've provided a picture of both paintings on my bedroom wall. I've also got space for a third Nickelodeon related painting I plan to place right next to these but I'm going to keep what character it will be a secret for now. An idea for a superhero teen comedy.

PLOT: Extroverted, bratty and self-centred high school queen bee mean girl Alexa Rae finds her seemingly perfect life uprooted when her mother remarries, now with a police commissioner stepfather and his son, introverted, awkward and soft-spoken outcast at her school, Warren Williams, as her new stepbrother. Alexa repeatedly told to socialize and get along with Warren by their parents despite her making it clear that she wants nothing to do with him, as she sees him as weird, dorky and an embarrassment to her social status at school. Before too long, Alexa eventually learns Warren's deepest secret: he leads a double-life as the mysterious super-powered masked vigilante known as The Sentinel, with his shy and awkward demeanor being a mere cover to protect his identity, and Alexa now must contend with all the various ups and downs of having a superhero for her stepbrother.

Think of this as if Regina George from Mean Girls and Spider-Man became step-siblings.

Metropolis never slept, but on this particular evening its pulse carried an unnatural rhythm, like a heart learning a new, insidious beat. High above the glittering spires, in the penthouse garden of the LexCorp Tower, Superwoman stood among orchids that should not have bloomed in winter. Their petals shimmered with an iridescent film, as though dipped in liquid starlight. She had come alone, drawn by rumors that the city’s most powerful figures were changing in ways no reporter could quite capture.

Below her, through walls of reinforced glass, the elite of Metropolis moved in perfect synchrony. A senator lifted a glass; across the room, three CEOs mirrored the motion with identical timing. Their laughter arrived a fraction too late, like an echo trying to catch up to its source. Superwoman’s cape stirred though there was no wind. She had seen many threats—monsters, gods, machines—but this felt personal, as if the city itself were being rewritten in her image.

A soft voice drifted from the shadows of the garden. “You feel it too, don’t you? The elegance of control.”

Superwoman turned. The speaker was Dr. Elena Voss, once the city’s foremost neurobiologist, now something far stranger. Her eyes held a faint hexagonal pattern that shifted when she blinked. She wore a gown the color of deep space, and when she smiled, every tooth reflected the same perfect angle.

“Dr. Voss,” Superwoman said, keeping her tone light, almost playful. “Last I checked, you were giving a TED talk on synaptic mapping. Now you’re hosting midnight garden parties with synchronized guests. Career change?”

Voss laughed, a sound like wind chimes carved from bone. “The talk was three weeks ago. Time dilates when one joins a larger mind. You of all beings should understand layered existence. After all, you carry the weight of an entire world’s hopes inside that lovely skull.”

Superwoman stepped closer, her boots silent on the marble. “Flattery from a woman whose mind has been colonized. Bold. What exactly are you now, Elena? Because you’re not entirely human anymore.”

“Neither are you, darling.” Voss reached out and brushed a stray lock of Superwoman’s dark hair behind her ear. The touch lingered a second too long, electric and strangely maternal. “We both wear borrowed skins to walk among them. But where you pretend to be their savior, I have become their evolution. The Hive does not conquer. It refines. It recognizes excellence and multiplies it.”

A chill traced Superwoman’s spine. She had faced mind control before, but this was different. There was no crude domination, no screaming voices in the head. Only a velvet invitation. A promise of belonging so profound it felt like coming home to a family she had never known she missed.

From the penthouse below, a tall man in an immaculate tuxedo ascended the spiral stairs. It was Marcus Hale, the media mogul whose empire shaped public opinion across three continents. His movements were too fluid, as though gravity had granted him special favors. When he smiled at Superwoman, the expression appeared on every other face visible through the glass at precisely the same moment.

“Superwoman,” Hale said, voice rich as aged bourbon. “The Hive has studied you for months. Your restraint. Your refusal to simply take what you could so easily claim. We admire that. Most species rush to dominance. You... you seduce the world into wanting you first. Poetry in power.”

Superwoman raised an eyebrow. “Careful, Mr. Hale. When a hive mind starts quoting my press clippings, I start looking for the strings.”

“No strings,” Voss murmured, circling behind her. “Only threads. Beautiful, silken threads that connect the worthy. The Hive came to Earth seeking a mirror. It found Metropolis—a perfect hierarchy of predators dressed in philanthropy. We thought it would be simple. Absorb the powerful, wear their faces, improve their designs. Then we saw you.”

Hale extended his hand. In his palm rested a single orchid petal, its veins pulsing with soft bioluminescence. “Join us. Not as a drone. As the apex. The broodmother we have waited for across light-years. Your strength, your compassion, your impossible beauty—imagine them multiplied. A thousand daughters who would never know fear or loneliness. A family that would never die.”

Superwoman stared at the petal. For one treacherous heartbeat she saw it: herself enthroned in a crystalline chamber beneath the city, surrounded by elegant, terrible versions of herself. Superwomen without end, each more perfect than the last. The loneliness that had haunted her since leaving her own world suddenly felt unbearable. The Hive offered the one thing no villain or hero had ever truly provided—kinship without conditions.

She laughed then, a low, musical sound that made both Voss and Hale tilt their heads in unconscious imitation.

“You almost had me,” she said, gently closing Hale’s fingers around the petal. “The seduction was masterful. Terror wrapped in belonging. But here’s the problem with mirrors, my clever friends. They only show what’s already there. And what I see in your Hive is the same hunger I’ve fought in tyrants and despots since the day I put on this cape. You don’t want a broodmother. You want a queen who will never question her own reflection.”

Voss’s smile faltered for the first time. The hexagonal pattern in her eyes spun faster. “You misunderstand. Resistance is not noble here. It is merely... inefficient. We have already seeded the water supply. The air filtration systems of every major building. Even now, your beloved Lois is feeling the first whispers at the back of her mind. Sweet, curious Lois. She would make such a magnificent daughter.”

The threat hung between them like frost. Superwoman’s eyes flashed with something ancient and Kryptonian. Yet her voice remained velvet. “Using my friends as leverage? That’s almost disappointing. I expected better from a species that crossed galaxies to find worthy hosts.”

Hale stepped closer, his synchronized companions below pressing their hands against the glass in perfect unison. Their palms left faint hexagonal prints that glowed and faded.

“We are not threatening,” he whispered. “We are offering context. You stand alone, Superwoman. Always the last of your kind. Always the strongest. Always... separate. The Hive removes separation. It is the ultimate intimacy. Let us show you.”

He reached for her face with both hands. Superwoman allowed the touch. For three full seconds she stood perfectly still while the Hive’s consciousness brushed against her mind like a thousand silk scarves. She saw their history then—the dying homeworld, the desperate migration, the long search for a species worthy of elevation. She felt their genuine awe at her power, their strange, alien love.

And she felt their terror of being refused.

When she finally moved, it was with the gentleness of someone closing a beloved book. She took Voss’s wrist and Hale’s shoulder, guiding them both backward until they stood at the edge of the garden where the city lights sprawled beneath them like a circuit board.

“I have a counter-offer,” she said softly. “Leave this world. Take your beautiful nightmare with you. I will even help you find a new home—someplace empty and vast where you can multiply without corrupting what doesn’t belong to you. But if you stay... if you touch one more mind I care about... I will become the thing you fear most. Not a broodmother. Not a queen. A scalpel. I will cut your Hive out of this city one perfect, screaming cell at a time.”

Voss’s eyes widened. For the first time the hexagonal pattern fractured. “You would not. The collateral damage—”

“Would be yours,” Superwoman finished. “Every mind you’ve taken will be freed the moment your central nexus dies. And I know where it hides. Beneath the old subway tunnels. The one place in Metropolis that still belongs only to the desperate and the dreaming. You chose poorly when you decided to wear the faces of the powerful. The powerful are always watched. The forgotten... they move beneath notice.”

Hale’s synchronized smile finally broke. A ripple of genuine fear passed through every infected host below. Glass cracked in a dozen windows as the Hive mind recoiled.

“You are more ruthless than we calculated,” Voss whispered, almost admiringly. “There is a reason we wanted you. Even your mercy has teeth.”

Superwoman leaned in until her lips nearly brushed Voss’s ear. “Then understand this, Doctor. I am not refusing you because I fear becoming like you. I am refusing you because I already know exactly what I am. And what I am... does not need a crown.”

She released them both. For a moment the three figures stood in perfect silence while the winter orchids began to wither, their bioluminescence fading like dying stars. Then Superwoman launched herself upward, a streak of red and blue against the Metropolis night.

Behind her, Elena Voss touched her own face as though discovering it for the first time. The hexagonal pattern in her eyes flickered, fighting to maintain coherence.

“She is... exquisite,” Voss murmured.

Hale nodded, though his movements were no longer perfectly synchronized with the others. “And dangerous. The broodmother has rejected us. The Hive must adapt.”

“Or retreat,” Voss said, and for the first time in weeks, the word sounded almost like her own.

Far below, in the Daily Planet building, Lois Lane set down her coffee with a trembling hand. For just a moment she had felt something vast and loving brush against her thoughts, promising sisterhood and peace. Then it had withdrawn, screaming.

She looked out the window toward the LexCorp Tower and smiled with fierce pride.

“Whatever you did up there,” she whispered to the night, “thank you.”

High above the city, Superwoman hovered between the stars and the streets, listening to the Hive’s retreating song. It was beautiful, in its way. A lament from an ancient species that had almost found its perfect reflection.

Almost.

She allowed herself one small, private smile. The terror had been real. The seduction nearly fatal. But in the end, the mystery had revealed its final secret: even the most elegant hive could not contain a woman who had learned to be both utterly alone and completely whole.

I Don't Ship Hiro X Sakura

Althought I like my bestie @Hiro-Hamada-Rockz/Arthur and always consider him as a big brother figure to me, plus, I even share his same likeness about Big Hero 6 since I also like Big Hero 6 and consider it one of the greatest animated superhero movies ever maded alongside Disney·Pixar's The Incredibles, but I don't ship Hiro Hamada X Sakura Kinomoto. The reasons is because Sakura Kinomoto has already a male love interest in the canon of Cardcaptor Sakura and that's Syaoran Li, the one and only love of Sakura who's dating with, which makes me a Sakura X Syaoran shipper at all. But just because I don't like Hiro X Sakura, doesn't mean I hate Arthur nor any of his ideas, cause even thought I don't like his ship, at least I respect his fanfiction and with that his own couple he has created.

But that doesn't mean that I ship Megan Cruz X Hiro Hamada and I don't ship them for the same reasons as Arthur's, she never had enough screen times like battling scenes to be in love together and they never kissed. And besides, Megan didn't appeared so much in the third season of Big Hero 6: The Series and in fact she never appeared in the finale of the series.

So from now on, I'm gonna start shipping Hiro Hamada X Karmi in my fanfiction and Toontopian Universe.

On the deck of the Celestial Scribe, a covert vessel masquerading as a merchant clipper, the air tasted of copper and dread. It was the third intelligence ship lost in this quadrant of the Grand Line in as many months, swallowed without a distress call, without a splash, without a single splinter left to mark their passing. The World Government, in its infinite paranoia, had sent its most exquisite and lethal operative to solve the riddle: Stussy.

She stood at the prow, a vision of porcelain and peril. Her blonde hair, the color of spun sunlight, was a defiant banner against the encroaching gloom, and her lips, perpetually curved in a knowing, almost cruel smile, were the colour of a fresh wound. Dressed in a sleek, black catsuit that shimmered with a faint, unsettling iridescence, she was less a woman and more a beautiful, sharp-edged question mark. Beside her, Captain Hart, a grizzled veteran with a map of scars for a face, chewed on his unlit pipe.

“The currents are wrong, Miss Stussy,” he grumbled, his voice a low rumble like distant thunder. “They’re pulling us south, against the wind. Something’s breathing down there. Something big.”

Stussy tilted her head, a single, elegant finger tracing the ship’s railing. “Something hungry, Captain. That is the more salient point. Our predecessors were not lost to a rogue tide. They were devoured.”

“By what? A Sea King?” Hart scoffed, though his knuckles were white on the helm. “We’ve got cannons, seastone nets…”

“Sea Kings are magnificent, brutish things. They leave a mess. Bones. Blood. A spectacle.” Her voice was a silken purr that somehow cut through the wind. “There is no spectacle here, Captain. Only silence. Absolute, perfect, terrifying silence. Our enemy is an artist of consumption.”

Just then, the lookout’s cry pierced the oppressive quiet. “Contact! Port side! Something… it’s massive!”

The sea on the port side didn't boil or churn. It simply rose. A hill of ink-black water, slick as polished obsidian, heaved itself from the depths. It was not a single body but a coalescence of shadows, a living nightmare of tentacles. Each one was a city pillar of slick, muscular flesh, lined with rows of glistening, razor-sharp suckers that clicked and hummed with a terrible, grinding energy. At its center, a bulbous, gelatinous head pulsed with a faint, bioluminescent red, like a dying star. Its eyes were not two, but a cluster of a dozen or more, each a cold, intelligent orb that swiveled independently, fixing the Celestial Scribe with a gaze of ancient, pitiless hunger. It was a vampire squid, but one that had drunk the blood of the abyss and grown to the size of a fortress. It was not a beast; it was a theorem of pure predation.

“Helm! Hard to starboard! All hands to battle stations!” Hart roared, his voice cracking. The ship groaned in protest as it began to turn, but it was like a mouse trying to evade a serpent.

With a sound like a thousand silk curtains tearing, one of the colossal tentacles lashed out. It didn’t smash the ship; it was far too clever for that. It wrapped around the mainmast with an almost tender precision, its suckers latching on and crushing the seasoned wood as if it were stale bread. The mast splintered, the sails falling in a shroud of canvas.

“Fire the cannons!” Hart yelled.

The starboard guns roared, their iron balls punching into the creature’s flank. The beast recoiled, a guttural, wet shriek echoing from its core, but the wounds sealed instantly, the inky flesh knitting itself back together. The cannonballs were simply… absorbed.

Stussy watched, her feline eyes narrowed. “Ammunition is useless. It’s a sponge for kinetic force.” Her voice was calm, analytical, a beacon of ice in the inferno of panic. “We must think.”

“Think? We’re being eaten, woman!” screamed a gunner, his face a mask of pure terror.

“You are being killed,” Stussy corrected, a hint of reproach in her tone. “There is a difference. I have no intention of being either.” She stepped gracefully over a coil of fallen rigging, a predator in her own right. “Captain, what do you know of the legends of this sea?”

“What legends? It’s the Grand Line! There are ten-thousand legends of death!” Hart spat, sawing at a rope.

“Precisely. But this one… this one is about a siren of the deep, a creature that doesn’t just eat flesh, but memory. It feeds on the knowledge of its victims. That is why the ships vanish without a trace. It doesn’t leave a record because it consumes it.” She looked at him, her eyes gleaming. “It’s a librarian of oblivion.”

She moved towards the ship’s library, a small, reinforced room containing the mission’s intelligence. Another tentacle smashed through the deck, splintering the wood just behind her. She didn’t flinch, her evasive movement a fluid, almost sensual dance.

“This is no time for research, Miss Stussy!” Hart bellowed as he helped a sailor to his feet.

“On the contrary, Captain,” she called over her shoulder, “it is the only time for research. The beast feeds on information. So, we must give it a poisoned meal.”

Inside the library, the air was thick with the scent of old paper and fear. She grabbed a sealed, lead-lined box—the repository of false fleet movements, a plan to mislead a rival power. It was the most dangerous intelligence on the ship. She ripped the seal open, taking the scrolls and maps and scattering them on the floor, their contents a tapestry of lies.

She then produced from a hidden pocket in her catsuit a small, crystal vial filled with a viscous, shimmering liquid. It was a neurotoxin of her own design, a compound that disrupted cognitive function, inducing a coma-like state in even the most robust of creatures. She doused the parchments with the toxin, the ink beginning to run in beautiful, sickly patterns.

A tentacle, thick as a barrel, smashed through the library wall, its suckers reaching for her. It was a grotesque, living hand. Stussy met it not with a scream, but with a slow, deliberate smile. She held up a single, toxin-soaked map.

“Is this what you seek, my beautiful nightmare?” she whispered, her voice dripping with a false, seductive warmth. “All the secrets of the World Government. The locations of their hidden ships, the names of their traitors… the path to their power.”

The creature’s dozens of eyes swiveled to fix on the parchment. A low, resonant hum vibrated through the ship, a sound of pure intellectual avarice. The tentacle, instead of crushing her, gently, almost reverently, took the map from her hand. It drew the dripping scroll into its mass, the paper dissolving into its gelatinous hide.

A shudder of what could only be described as pleasure rippled through the colossal body. The sickly red light in its core pulsed brighter. It had consumed the lies.

Now, Stussy knew, came the moment of truth. She walked out onto the main deck, the scene one of devastation. The ship was a ruin, masts broken, men cowering behind upturned barrels. Captain Hart, bleeding from a gash on his forehead, stared at her with a mixture of awe and desperation.

“What have you done?” he asked.

“I have offered it a feast of falsehoods,” she replied, her voice steady. “The truth is a heavy meal. A lie is a poison that masquerades as candy.”

The creature convulsed. A horrific, wet, gurgling sound escaped its core, and its tentacles began to thrash wildly, no longer with predatory precision, but with the uncontrolled spasms of acute, systemic poisoning. Its bioluminescence flickered from a deep red to a sickly green, then to a bruised purple.

“It’s working,” Hart breathed.

Stussy walked to the very edge of the ship, her heels clicking on the wet, treacherous deck. She was a figure of sublime danger, a portrait of serenity in the eye of the storm. One of the creature’s tentacles, weakened and flailing, whipped toward her. She didn’t dodge. She reached out and caught it. Her slender fingers touched the cold, slick flesh at the very edge of its maw.

A wave of psychic feedback washed over her. For a fleeting moment, she felt what the creature felt: a cosmic hunger, a deep-sea loneliness, and the echo of a thousand consumed souls. It was a horror so profound and ancient that it would have shattered a lesser mind. But Stussy was not a lesser mind. She was an operative of the highest order, a woman whose soul had been forged in the crucible of the world’s worst secrets.

She leaned in close to the thrashing tentacle, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial, silken whisper.

“You wanted a story of power and conquest,” she purred to the dying behemoth. “Instead, I gave you a fable of your own end. You are a collector of last words. So, let this be mine to you: all your vast, collected knowledge is now a poison coursing through your veins. You are drowning in the lies you love so much.”

She released the tentacle, stepping back with a disdainful flick of her wrist.

The enormous beast let out a final, deafening screech, a sound of pure existential agony. Its enormous bulk, as dark and impenetrable as a midnight sea, began to sink. It didn’t crash; it folded in on itself, its form losing cohesion, dissolving back into the black water from which it had come, leaving behind only a vast, oily slick that shimmered with faint, toxic rainbows.

The silence that fell was heavier than the chaos that had preceded it. The ship, though battered, was afloat. The crew began to stir, their faces pale with shock.

Captain Hart walked over to Stussy, his scarred face unreadable. “That was… that was inhuman, Miss Stussy.”

“Thank you, Captain,” she replied, brushing a stray strand of golden hair from her face. Her smile was back, a perfect, enigmatic curve that promised nothing and everything. “It was a gamble. The beast craved intelligence, but intelligence, like any other form of power, can be a trap. I simply traded its desire for a dose of madness.”

“You seduced it,” he said, a dawning horror in his eyes. “You seduced a monster.”

“Monsters are the easiest to seduce, Captain,” she said, her gaze fixed on the spot where the creature had vanished. “They are so desperately hungry for something beautiful to destroy.” She turned and began to walk towards the ship’s ruined cabin. “Now, if you will excuse me, I must write my report. It will be a long story, and I intend to make it quite captivating. After all,” she added, her voice carrying a silken, terrifying warmth over the wind, “we must never let a good tale of terror go to waste.”

The Alpha let out another mournful groan. The air around its head began to distort, the light warping like heat haze. A small stone at its feet lifted, hovering for a moment before being crushed into fine powder by an unseen force. The creature didn’t want this power. It was a curse.

Julia remembered her training. The Phoenix stance. The fluid motion that was not about force, but about redirection. Her father’s voice echoed in her memory. “The strongest river does not break the boulder, Julia. It flows around it. It carves a new path. It finds the stone’s weakness and makes it its own.”

By 2015 the world had gotten accustomed to superheroics and many young individuals had grown up with them.

One such individual was Queens resident Peter Parker, a brilliant student of Midtown High who had idolized men like Reed Richards even before the modern heroic age. He lived with and was raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, his parents tragically dying in a plane crash a decade before. During an internship he acquired under Oscorp scientist Curt Connors Peter was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider, sending him to the hospital for a shockingly brief time.

His recovery was miraculous, quickly finding the spider bite increased his strength and agility, allowed him to climb walls, gave him a premonition for danger and powerful albeit unfocused spinneret organs in his wrists. He’d immediately try to use these powers for personal gain as a wrestler, creating wrist mounted devices to focus his biological webbing. This would inadvertently but unfortunately lead to his uncles death by a mugger.

Afterwards he pledged to use his powers for good inspired by his uncles motto “With great power, there must also come great responsibility”.

She did not move, for to move was to invite the shattering. She was a vision of kinetic potential, her dark skin shimmering like silk stretched over steel, her presence an intoxicating blend of regal grace and lethal intent. Behind her, the air rippled, not with wind, but with the nauseating vibration of a Reiatsu that tasted of wet copper and old graves.

“You’ve been tracking me for three districts, little ghost,” Yoruichi said, her voice a low, melodic purr that carried a razor-edged challenge. She didn’t turn. She didn't need to. Her senses were a map of the world, and right now, the map was being rewritten by something that shouldn't exist. “It’s rude to stare at a lady’s back without introducing yourself. Especially when you have so many eyes.”

From the shadows emerged a creature that defied the elegant simplicity of a typical Hollow. It was a shifting mosaic of bone-white masks and translucent limbs, a living kaleidoscope that groaned with the sound of grinding tectonic plates. It didn't have one face; it had a dozen, all weeping a viscous, silver ichor. “You are not wind,” one of the Speculum copies retorted, its mask cracking to reveal a jagged, toothless maw. “You are a sequence of biological and spiritual impulses. We see the electrical fire in your nerves before it reaches your muscles. We see the intent before the action. To us, you are a statue, frozen in the amber of your own predictable excellence.”

The horror of the Speculum lay not in its strength, but in its violation of the present. As Yoruichi lunged—a blur of orange and black that defied the limits of sound—she found her fist passing through empty air. The copy she had targeted was already three feet to the left, its clawed hand already positioned to rake across her throat. “Too much talk,” she sighed, a small, weary smile playing on her lips. “Monsters these days are so obsessed with the philosophy of the kill. They forget that at the end of the day, it’s just about who’s faster.”

She had stepped outside of time for a fraction of a second, and the universe did not like being ignored.

She began to walk back toward the Seireitei, her gait swaying with a natural, effortless sensuality. Every step was a testament to her reality, a firm rejection of the Speculum’s fractured world. She was Yoruichi Shihouin, the Flash Goddess, the woman who lived in the heartbeat between the 'now' and the 'then.'

The mansion above was a hive of living voices, a cacophony of hopes, fears, and the mundane static of existence. Down here, in the cold, phosphorescent glow of the spherical chamber, she found a different kind of noise. The dead.

At first, it was a comfort. A spectral congregation. She would slip the helmet over her head, the metallic taste of ozone flooding her mouth, and listen. They were the ghosts of the Xavier legacy, the mutants who had fallen, their psychic essences imprinted on the very architecture of the machine like fossils in amber. She heard the fierce, clipped discipline of Thunderbird, the mercurial laughter of a young, untamed Jean Grey, the whispered, half-formed equations of a child who could bend reality.
