In the coming months after the disappearance of both the Marvel Family and the Squadron of Justice, crime has run rampant in Fawcett City.

Law school graduate Pinkerton Butler (formerly the Original Mr. Scarlet's sidekick and former leader of the Whiz Kids, Pinky) working at the Fawcett City District Attorney's Office sees a need for a hero. He reluctantly dons the mantle of his mentor and becomes the All-New Mister Scarlet, the Red Knight of Justice.

In the the next few months while being hunted as a vigilante by the corrupt Fawcett City Hall's newly appointed lesbian Police Commissoner, he meets a street smart punk girl named Pinky who becomes his partner, battles his returning nemesis Mister Hyde (who killed his parents), and faces-off a Golden Age Hero from the Past who Equals in strenght to the World's Mightiest Mortal, one who thinks of himself as part of a Master Race!

The Geometry of False Teeth

Gothic architecture in Gotham rarely understands geometry; it prefers hysteria, thrusting granite ribs into a smog-choked sky like the arthritic fingers of a dying miser. Jaina Hudson, known to the blinking, terrified inhabitants of the lower financial districts as the White Rabbit, felt the cold dampness of the masonry soak through her silk gloves as she perched upon a gargoyle shaped with the unfortunate face of a weeping Flemish bishop. She was not merely observing the city tonight; she was digesting it. Her white fur tippet shivered not with the autumn draft, but with the exquisite, cerebral prickle of anticipation. Down in the rotunda of the Gotham Antiquities Museum, history was being unmade.

A floor below, behind bulletproof laminated glass that cost more than a small European principality’s annual GDP, the Tweed brothers were busy rewriting the inventory of the nineteenth century.

"Deedee, you left the left ear of the Babylonian lamassu out in the corridor," a voice grated, wet as a sucked pebble. It was Tweedledum, or perhaps Tweedledee—Jaina never bothered to map the microscopic landscape of their identical, suet-dough faces. To her, they were simply twin mounds of damp wool and malice, sweating tallow onto Persian rugs.

"I didn't leave it, Dum, I misplaced its ontological permanence," replied the other, his chuckle sounding like stones rolling in an iron bucket. "Besides, who's going to audit us? The night watchman is currently having a very long, very educational conversation with his own colon three rooms over."

Jaina adjusted her porcelain-white spectacles. Through the lenses, the museum was a museum no longer; it was a theater of light-signatures and deceit. The Tweed brothers were not merely stealing; they were broadcasting. Heavy, lead-plated cylinders sat at their feet, hissing faint plumes of purple vapor that smelled faintly of marzipan and old attic dust. These were the projection engines—experimental holographic generators stolen from Wayne Enterprises' black-budget labs, capable of turning two fat, clumsy men into an infinite, recursive nightmare.

With a soft, feline rustle of petticoats, Jaina dropped from the gargoyle, her heels clicking against the marble floor of the grand gallery like the ticking of a very polite clockwork bomb.

The Tweed brothers did not turn around immediately. Instead, the museum around Jaina seemed to multiply. From the shadows of the dinosaur exhibit, four Tweedles stepped out, then eight, then sixteen. They were everywhere—bloated silhouettes in tweed waistcoats, identical pocket watches ticking in ragged, asynchronous polyrhythm. The air grew thick, shimmering with optical grease. The real statues seemed to dissolve into gray ghosts, replaced by columns of heavy, breathing duplicates that reached out with doughy, damp hands to clutch at empty air.

"My word," Jaina murmured, her voice a silk ribbon drawn across a razor's edge. "The room is getting crowded. I hope you brought enough tea for the committee."

A hundred voices—some coming from behind her ear, some echoing from the domed ceiling, some rumbling from the floorboards beneath her satin slippers—spoke as one wet, gelatinous chorus.

"Well, look at the rabbit hole," the multiple Tweedles wheezed, their waistcoats heaving. "A little white morsel dropped right into the gravy. We're busy, my pet. The museum is being reorganized under the new management of ourselves."

Jaina did not draw a weapon. Weapons were for people with insufficient imagination. Instead, she stepped forward, her hips swaying with a calculated, hypnotic languor that made the nearest three dozen projections flicker and glitch, their pixels tearing into jagged ribbons of cyan and magenta. She approached the largest cluster of Tweedles, the scent of her expensive French perfume—tubes of crushed tuberose and cold iron—cutting through the stale grease of the projection engines.

"Management," she whispered, her lips brushing the lapel of the nearest duplicate. Her gloved hand reached up, her long, manicured finger tracing the sweaty slope of a false Tweedle's jawline until it passed right through the cheek, leaving behind a cold smear of phosphorescent light. "How terribly bureaucratic. I always thought you boys were more... anarchic in your gluttony."

The duplicate vanished with a wet pop of displaced air, revealing a real Tweedle standing three paces back, his face mottled with genuine, greasy fury.

"Stop that," the real Tweedledum snarled, dropping a fistful of sixteenth-century Saxon gold coins into a canvas sack. "You're ruining the ambiance. The illusion is part of the aesthetic. It's high art, missy."

"Art should hurt, Dum," Jaina purred, sliding between two more phantoms. Her white fur ruff brushed against a real elbow, sending a tremor through the heavy man. She felt the sudden, frantic acceleration of his pulse—a wild, fluttering thing trapped in a cage of fat and cheap tweed. There was nothing quite as intoxicating as the smell of honest, animal terror leaking from a man who thought he was smarter than he was. "Everything genuine in this world leaves a bruise. These shadows of yours? They taste like cold grease and battery acid. Not nearly enough iron in the diet."

"You think you're clever because you wear ears," Tweedledee grunted from behind a pedestal holding a Greek urn that was currently being duplicated twelve times by a whining projector. "You’re just a distraction. The real work is happening in the vault. By the time the Bat gets through our little optical puzzle-box downstairs, we'll be in international waters, drinking port out of a chalice that belonged to Genghis Khan."

Jaina paused. She tilted her head, her porcelain-smooth skin catching the sickly green emergency lighting. Her eyes—dark, ancient, and endlessly amused—fixed upon the twin's damp forehead.

"The Bat is predictable," she said softly, her breath fogging the glass of her spectacles. "He wants an equation solved. He wants a confession, a broken collarbone, a trip to Arkham with a neat little ribbon tied around the intake valve. But me? I don't want the treasure, boys. I want the room."

"The room?" Dum muttered, his hand hesitating over a diamond-encrusted tiara.

"The space between what you are and what you pretend to be," Jaina whispered.

She moved with the speed of falling glass. With a sharp, metallic click, her heel came down upon the brass housing of the nearest holographic projector. The machine shrieked—a high, surgical whine that cut through the cavernous gallery—and then imploded in a shower of white-hot sparks and ozone.

Instantly, forty duplicates of the Tweed brothers vanished, leaving behind only empty air and the smell of toasted hair. The museum shrank back into its stark, limestone reality. The Egyptian sarcophagi stopped vibrating; the Persian rugs were once more merely old wool on cold stone.

The two real Tweedles stood exposed, blinking like moles dragged into a noon-day courtyard, their canvas bags of stolen antiquity heavy and ridiculous in their trembling fists.

"You broke the gear," Tweedledee whispered, his voice small now, stripped of its electronic choir. "That was custom-tooled in Blüdhaven."

"I broke the spell," Jaina corrected, her voice dropping an octave into something dark and velvet-rough. She stepped closer, her white skirts whispering against the hem of his trousers. She reached out, her gloved fingers sliding inside his vest pocket to retrieve a heavy, gold-plated pocket watch that didn't belong to him. Her thumb brushed against his sweaty skin, and she felt him shudder—a deep, involuntary tremor that started at the base of his spine and rippled up into his fat, red ears.

"Please," Dum whimpered, though whether he meant please don't hurt me or please don't stop was a distinction even he was too stupid to make.

"Quiet, pig," Jaina murmured, pressing the cold rim of the pocket watch against the hollow of his throat. She could feel his heart hammering against the gold like a trapped bird beating its wings against a carriage window. "The museum is closing. And I think you've overstayed your welcome."

From the high clerestory windows above, a shadow detached itself from the vaulting—a massive, horned shape that smelled of rain and iron, dropping toward them with the silent, terrible grace of an executioner's axe.

Jaina smiled, her red lips parting to reveal teeth that were just a fraction too sharp for a human being. She stepped back into the shadows of a Greek marble colonnade, letting the darkness swallow her white fur and silk petticoats whole.

"Enjoy the audit, boys," she whispered into the empty, ringing air, leaving them alone with the dark.

When everyone goes through the evaluation to find if they have any superpowers when they turn sixteen, the list of tests is extensive. One in fifty people have some kind of power. Of that number half have a power that might actually be useful, but it is usually one in a thousand that has a power that could truly be called super. Flight, strength, invulnerability are all good powers to have, and are easily tested for. What isn’t usually tested for, but now will be, is to see if there are any superpowers that manifest due to arousal. You can thank the black and green clad supervillain named Captain Crotch for this being added to the list. After Captain Crotch failed miserably at the bank heist and was chassed by some of the cities sexier female superheroes, Captain Crotch got his “second wind”. Irony isn’t the word for Captain Crotch’s powers. He can control a person’s mind, totally, but only while he has an erection. When his erection goes away, so does his control over people’s minds. In the alley, with those sexy female heroes, showing off their bouncy breasts through tattered tops, and completely at the mercy of Captain Crotch, it was too much for him. The security cameras, most of them, caught a distinct wet spot blooming on his leggings between his legs. Then biology does what biology does, and Captain Crotch was losing his powers, as well as the tent in his pants. He tried to make a run for it, but the female heroes recovered faster. The doctors are confident that his pelvis will be put back together and he just might walk someday.

There are supervillains that the heroes respect. Not many. There are supervillains that the heroes pity. More than you think. Then there are supervillains that are just laughed at but maybe shouldn’t be. One of these villains is Captain Crotch! Just to be clear, he picked that name. After hearing this name, some suggestions from the female heroes chasing him after a failed bank heist came out. Private Penis was laughed at. Ensign Impotence was popular, but too long. Dumb Dick was what the female heroes started taunting the green and black clad guy with. This might have just been a usual take-down of a guy, if it wasn’t for his power erupting, almost literally. If Captain Crotch got an erection, this isn’t a joke, then he could emit a powerful field of energy that would take over the minds of anyone he pointed his crotch at. This may sound weird, but keep in mind that Captain Crotch took over the minds of a handful of the most powerful female superheroes just by thrusting his pelvis at them. Security cameras caught images of the female heroes on their knees, ripping their tops open to show their breasts, and the haunted glowing green eyes.

The night stretched like a dark cloak, illuminated only by an immense sea of stars.

High atop a mountain, a middle-aged man gazed at the sky from his balcony. Seated beside a small telescope, he quietly wrote in a notebook as he observed the shapes of the constellations. Everything seemed peaceful and calm. But suddenly, a fireball hurtled past his balcony. The man jumped and looked up. Then he quickly returned to the telescope. Through the lens, he watched in amazement as the object streaked across the sky, leaving behind a trail of blue and red that, as it blended, turned a deep magenta, before plummeting toward the Smithville forest.

As it streaked across the sky above the city, car alarms began to blare. One after another, windows lit up, and some residents ventured into the streets to see what was happening and they saw the great fireball traveling through the sky. Suddenly, the fireball vanished among the trees of the forest, and a blinding flash illuminated the sky, as if dawn had arrived suddenly, accompanied by a booming sound before quickly ceasing. Driven by curiosity, other residents jumped into their vehicles and sped toward where the fireball had fallen. But among them were two who were already well ahead.

Far from the city, in the farmland, a car sped along a dirt road, cutting through cornfields. Inside were Lara and David, who stared in awe at the light from the meteorite's explosion in the distance. Lara asked David why they were rushing toward the meteorite's impact site, as she braced herself against the roof on the bumpy road. He explained enthusiastically that meteorites were very valuable and that, if handed over to the right person, they could become rich. However, the idea excited Lara a lot, because she believed that a life of wealth was not really a life if you didn't have someone to share it with. Little did she know that this strange meteorite was about to fill their lives with something far more precious, in a way they could never have imagined.

Suddenly, David slammed on the brakes. Lara asked him what was wrong, annoyed, but fell silent when she saw the forest ahead. The dirt road ended right at the start of the forest; it was too dense and narrow for the car to pass, so from here they would have to walk.

Lara and David got out of the car and began to venture into the dark woods, guided only by the light of flashlights David had in his trunk. The forest was eerily silent. They walked along, scanning their surroundings with their flashlights, when suddenly they heard a branch crack and saw some bushes begin to stir. The atmosphere was tense, and they approached slowly and cautiously. David reached the bush and was about to part the undergrowth when, out of nowhere, a cat leaped from the bushes, causing David to let out a terrified yell. They quickly calmed down when they realized it was just a cat. Lara couldn't help but giggle at the look of fear on David's face.

"Were you scared of a cat?" Said Lara towards his husband.

"I... I wasn't scared," he replied, trying to regain his composure. "I was just... checking if you were paying attention."

"Suuure," Lara said, giving her husband a sarcastic look and a mocking smile. However, the peace didn't last long. They continued venturing deeper and deeper into the woods. Suddenly, Lara noticed a section of the forest was strangely illuminated and decided to investigate. She raised her flashlight and saw that branches had been violently ripped from several trees, leaving a gaping hole. Slowly, Lara lowered the beam and saw a trail of chaos and destruction. The ground was scorched, the grass was gone, and some tree trunks lay split in half. Lara called to her husband, David, and they followed the trail that led to a small clearing surrounded by trees where they finally found the impact site. But as they began to approach, they both noticed something odd.

The two meteors didn't look normal. As they drew closer and the smoke gradually dissipated, they noticed that one was blue and the other red. But the strangest and most incredible thing was that both had metallic parts and strange, rocket-like propulsion systems. The couple stared at the meteors with bewilderment and confusion as they slowly and cautiously approached them.

"That... isn't a meteorite," Lara murmured, astonishment in her eyes, as she approached.

"No," David replied, fearful and confused. "They're space capsules. Like the ones in comic books or those science fiction movies that have been so popular lately." Both stared in amazement at the inexplicable space capsule; it took them a few seconds to process what they were seeing.

Then, out of nowhere, Lara is about to touch one of the capsules, but David stops her and pulls her away, remembering all the alien movies he's seen. So, he decides to keep his distance first and uses a stick to lightly tap the surface. But, after several taps, the capsule emits an electronic chirp, accompanied by a faint flashing light like when you turn on a car alarm. Suddenly, a small device emerges from the top of both capsules and emits lights that begin to rotate like headlights, as if scanning their surroundings.

They both stared in fear as the lights spun endlessly, clutching each other in terror as the lights shone on them and changed color. Suddenly, the lights went out, and the capsules began to open, releasing an eerie white vapor. Then, suddenly, David, fearing his wife's safety, said, "Run!" as they both took off running. Lara started running in the same direction, not wanting to look back, but after a few meters, in the silence of the forest, she heard something that made her stop dead in her tracks. A sound she knew all too well... the cry of a baby.

Lara couldn't believe what she was hearing. How was it even possible? Was it a trick or something else...? Lara wondered. Her mind told her that perhaps it was a dangerous creature. Maybe an alien. Maybe something she should never have encountered. But then she remembered that wish she had made so many times while gazing at the stars. For years she had dreamed of having a family. For the first time, Lara wondered if the universe had heard her prayers.

Lara froze, lost in thought, for a few seconds, glancing back at the capsules and then in the direction her husband was hesitantly running. Her mind told her to run, but her heart told her to go back. Lara tried to think clearly, but the cries grew louder. If she didn't do something, something else might find the baby and do something terrible.

Lara looked in the direction David was walking away. Then she looked back toward the capsules and the crying. And then, Lara made a decision. Without a word, she turned and started running in the opposite direction. David kept running, thinking about calling the police or even his friends in the Navy, until he turned his head to see if his wife was still following him, but he realized with horror that she was now running in the opposite direction, toward the alien capsules.

"Lara!" David shouted mid-run, before slamming to a stop and turning to run after his wife. When he finally reached the crash site, David froze, seeing Lara motionless in front of the red capsule. He grabbed a stick from the ground to use as a weapon and slowly walked toward his wife, dreading the alien horror movie scene that awaited him. David watched as his wife stood silently, staring at the craft, until, out of nowhere, he heard Lara's sobs. David stopped and asked his wife if she was alright. Lara slowly turned around, holding something in her arms. The atmosphere grew tense, and David braced himself for the worst, but nothing could have prepared him for what he was about to see. Lara was now holding... a baby?

David couldn't believe his eyes. Lara was holding a baby with blond hair and a strange orange and red star-shaped mark in her arms, crying tears of joy. David was so stunned and confused that he dropped his stick and stumbled backward until he bumped slightly into the second space capsule, from which another baby began to cry. Hearing the cry, David peered inside and saw another blond baby with a different star-shaped mark, this one blue, who stopped crying the moment he saw him with those big, innocent eyes. Then, David cautiously picked up the baby, holding him as far away as possible, and lifted him to eye level. David had closed his eyes, fearing the baby would jump out at him and attack, but instead, the infant only let out a high-pitched, sweet giggle and reached out to hug him. Hearing this, David opened his eyes and saw that the baby was anything but dangerous. Then David slowly brought the baby to his chest, cradling him in his arms. David watched as the infant smiled and whimpered with delight at being near him, so tenderly that he couldn't help but smile back. In less than a second, all of David's worries seemed to vanish, until the baby yawned and snuggled into his arms, falling peacefully asleep. Then David turned to his wife and walked toward her.

Lara was holding the baby in her arms, playfully shaking her and making faces, which made the baby giggle with joy, even though tears were still in her eyes. Then David slowly approached with the other baby, and they both gazed at the sleeping twins in their arms, a sight they never thought they would see. David looked at his wife and couldn't help but smile sincerely. She was so, so happy; he hadn't seen her so happy in a long time. But quickly, David's light smile turned into a grimace of slight, discreet concern. Don't get him wrong, David was very happy for her, but he couldn't help wondering how this was possible. David's mind was full of questions, but before they could say anything, he noticed lights among the trees. They weren't alone. Other people had come to the forest in search of the meteorite as well.

He told Lara they had to leave now and abandon the babies, but Lara refused. At first, David thought they should hand them over to the authorities and was going to tell her. But then, David looked at Lara, pleading eyes, and then at the sleeping baby in his arms, gently clinging to his jacket. Then, David remembered what the authorities did to space creatures in movies, what they would do to them. David couldn't let that happen to them and leave it on his conscience forever. So, he made a decision that would change their lives forever. David told his wife they were taking the babies. But before leaving, Lara looked toward the capsules. Lara said they couldn't leave the spaceships there and asked her husband what they would do with them. David didn't know what to say and was about to answer uncertainly. When suddenly, flashing lights came from inside both spaceships and something incredible happened. Out of nowhere, the capsules began to disintegrate. The pieces transformed into tiny, shimmering fragments that soared through the trees, a hurricane of stars, as the couple watched, awestruck and amazed by the light show. Then, the fragments began to descend in a whirlwind and, as if by magic, transformed into two shimmering wristbands; one red and one blue.

They both stared in astonishment, unable to believe how such large ships had shrunk to something so small. But the couple's amazement was short-lived, as they began to hear the villagers approaching, and at the same time, the beams of more flashlights emerged from the woods. David handed the other baby to his wife and, in a swift movement, grabbed the pair of shining bracelets and both ran to their car unseen. David and Lara, with the twins in their arms, got into their car quickly and drove away.

Inside the car, they both sighed with relief and couldn't help but burst out laughing, overwhelmed by the adrenaline rush they hadn't felt for years. Then, Lara realized the two little ones had woken up and, with a smile, began to hum softly to lull them back to sleep. David glanced sideways at his wife with the babies in her arms and gave her a small, sincere smile, happy to see her so content. They exchanged joyful glances as they walked away from the forest. They both knew that their lives would never be the same again. And neither of them would have wanted it any other way.

Based on the cover of the Dark Knight Triumphant by Frank Miller (1986) using the 1990s Alex Ross re-design of the Golden Age superhero Mr. Scarlet (inspired by Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon) for 1996 Kingdome Come mini-series.

I envisioned him as amnesic cambion who becomes a "working man's hero", perhaps created by Jack Kirby (who co-created the orginal) during his time at Fawcett Comics in the 1970s in my Alternate Faux-Fawcett Comics Timeline.

Dr. Liara T'soni rubbed her temples, the rhythmic chime of her omni-tool sounding less like a monitor and more like a metronome counting down to a funeral she hadn't planned to attend.

The object on the examination slab defied every known law of galactic paleontology, physics, and sheer common sense.

Recovered from the decaying heart of an uncharted rogue planet drifting in the terminus systems, the artifact was ostensibly a fossil—a massive, twisting vertebra of an unknown leviathan, encrusted in layers of compressed obsidian silicate that dated its petrification to over a billion years.

Yet, carbon-dating was a polite suggestion the object simply ignored; elemental scans revealed a terrifying truth: the bone wasn't stone at all, but a hyper-dense, calcified lattice of exotic bio-polymers that should have degraded into cosmic dust epochs ago.

"You've been staring at that calcium-laced paperweight for fourteen standard hours, Liara," said Commander Shepard, leaning against the doorway of the makeshift lab with an unlit cigar rolling between fingers that had broken three galactic armistices and one Reaper. "If you stare any harder, you're going to burn a hole through the table, and then the quartermaster is going to make us both scrub the thrusters."

"It isn't a paperweight, Shepard," Liara murmured, her blue crests twitching with a mixture of exhaustion and profound, electric fascination. She didn't look up from the bioluminescent readouts cascading across her visor. "And it isn't just a fossil. A fossil implies a history. A story that has already ended. This... this is a footnote that refuses to let the book close."

"Right. Well, footnotes usually don't hum in B-flat major," Shepard replied, pushing off the doorframe and walking over with the easy, measured grace of a predator who knew every shadow in the room. "I can feel it in my teeth. It’s like standing next to a mass accelerator about to discharge. Only quieter. And infinitely more unpleasant."

Liara finally turned, her violet eyes wide, reflecting the eerie, pulse-like violet glow emanating from the microscopic fissures of the black bone. "It's not humming, Commander. It’s breathing. Or something very closely approximating the rhythm of a circulatory system that doesn't rely on blood."

"That sounds distinctly like the opening line of a bad horror vid," Shepard said, though the playful smirk didn't quite reach eyes that suddenly narrowed, locking onto the artifact. "Is it dangerous, or just weird? Because my schedule for today currently includes 'saving the galaxy' and 'eating breakfast,' and neither involves getting eaten by a billion-year-old wishbone."

"I don't know yet," Liara whispered, stepping closer to the slab, drawn by an invisible, silken pull that felt less like gravity and more like an invitation whispered in an empty cathedral. "When I run the neurological probes... the telemetry doesn't just read the surface resistance. It responds to my own nervous system. It’s listening, Shepard."

"Then I suggest we unplug it before it asks us for our credit ratings," Shepard said, stepping between Liara and the table, closing the distance with a protective instinct that was as automatic as breathing. "Put the knife down, Doctor. Let the dead thing stay dead."

"It’s not dead," Liara breathed, her voice dropping an octave, slipping into a hypnotic, almost breathless cadence that made the hairs on the back of Shepard's neck prickle. "Can't you feel it? It’s cold, yes, but it’s the cold of deep space, waiting for a star to fall into its orbit. It’s feeding on the ambient static of the room. It’s eating our focus."

Shepard reached out, gloved fingers gripping Liara’s shoulder, shaking her gently out of the fugue state. "Liara. Look at me. Blue eyes on mine. Now."

Liara blinked, a sharp intake of breath rattling in her chest as the heavy, sweet fog in her mind cleared just enough for her to realize she had been leaning forward, her forehead mere centimeters from the humming black calcium. The air around the artifact felt heavy, thick with the scent of ozone and bruised lavender—a scent that wasn't in the room a moment ago.

"I... I apologize," Liara stammered, her hand trembling as she brushed a stray lock of hair from her cheek. "The telemetry... it induces a kind of sensory resonance. A synaptic mirroring. It’s quite intoxicating, actually."

"Intoxicating is what the bartender on Omega serves when he wants your wallet," Shepard said, eyes darting back to the bone. The violet pulse was faster now, like a heartbeat accelerating after a sprint. The obsidian cracks were visibly widening, shedding micro-shards of glittering dust that hung suspended in the zero-G current of the ventilation. "That thing is doing something to your head. Pack up the samples. We're locking the lab."

"No," Liara said, and the sudden, absolute steel in her voice made Shepard pause. She looked at the Commander, not with fear, but with a terrifying, luminous hunger that mirrored the ancient thing on the table. "Look at the sub-atomic scans, Shepard. It isn't broadcasting. It's absorbing. It's taking the idle, unspent mental energy of everyone on this deck and converting it into cellular growth."

"Cellular growth of what?" Shepard asked, hand dropping instinctively to the holster at their hip, even though they knew standard kinetic barriers wouldn't stop whatever was bleeding through the air.

"Of an eye," Liara whispered, tracing a finger along the curving ridge of the bone where the shadow seemed to deepen into an endless, velvet void. "Or a threshold. Something is trying to remember how to look back at us."

The lights in the laboratory flickered once, twice, and then died, plunging the room into the emergency crimson glow of the backup grid. The hum escalated into a sharp, piercing whine that rattled the fillings in their teeth and made the skin on Liara’s arms flush with an exquisite, unbearable heat.

"Liara," Shepard warned, drawing the heavy pistol with a sharp metallic snap that echoed in the confined space. "Get away from the table. That’s an order."

"Orders require a universe that still exists outside this room, Commander," Liara said, her voice dropping into a low, velvet purr that seemed to vibrate directly inside Shepard’s skull, bypassing the ears entirely. She stepped closer to Shepard instead of the table, closing the gap until the Commander could smell the faint, ozone tang of asari biotics mixing with the impossible scent of the artifact. "Don't you feel it? It’s not taking from us. It’s sharing. It’s showing me the spaces between the stars where the shadows have teeth."

"You're not yourself," Shepard said, though the words lacked their usual conviction, bogged down by a sudden, syrupy lethargy that crept through their limbs like warm honey. The pistol felt heavy, impossibly heavy, as if gravity had suddenly tripled its workload just for their hands. "Liara... stop it."

"I can't," she murmured, her hand rising to rest gently on Shepard's chest, right over the steady, pounding drum of the human heart. Her fingers were impossibly cold, yet they burned like dry ice against the fabric of Shepard's uniform. "And neither can you. Listen to it, Shepard. It knows your name. It knew your name before the first human crawled out of the mud to look at the moon."

The obsidian bone on the slab let out a sound—not a hum, not a scream, but the wet, echoing crack of tectonic plates shifting beneath an ocean of liquid glass. The surface split wide open from end to end, not revealing meat or circuitry, but an absolute, starless vacuum that seemed infinitely larger than the room around it.

A tendril of pure, solid shadow slipped out from the fissure, slender as a thread of silk and sharp as an obsidian razor, weaving through the air toward them with the delicate, hypnotic grace of a striking viper.

"Shepard," Liara whispered, her eyes completely black now, the irises swallowed by the expanding pupil as she leaned into the Commander's space, her lips brushing the shell of Shepard’s ear in a caress that was half-prayer and half-execution. "Let it in. The dark is so terribly lonely without us."

Shepard tried to raise the pistol, tried to pull the trigger, but the finger refused to obey, paralyzed by a wave of profound, narcotic euphoria that washed over their brain like a warm tide. The shadow touched the back of Shepard's neck, a cold, feather-light brush that sent a shiver of pure, rapturous terror down the spine, locking every muscle in place.

Through the ringing in their ears, as the laboratory walls began to dissolve into a shifting, liquid geometry of ancient bone and endless night, Shepard heard the voice—not in the room, but deep inside the architecture of their own mind, ancient, patient, and infinitely hungry.

*Welcome home, little star.*

And then, the light went out, leaving only the sound of two hearts beating in terrible, perfect unison against the dark.

On a crisp, autumn Halloween night in Haddonfield, the neighborhood transformed into a lively scene of festive magic. Streets glowed with the warm, flickering light of carved jack-o'-lanterns, and the air buzzed with the excited laughter of children. Little ones wearing imaginative costumes ranging from spooky ghosts to roaring superheroes rushed eagerly from porch to porch for trick-or-treating. Smiling neighbors stood ready behind decorated doorways, dropping sweet treats into outstretched plastic pumpkins and pillowcases. Meanwhile, deep in the heart of the celebration, Marcus and Vanessa were busy making their own spooky memories. Dressed in coordinated medical costumes Marcus as a rugged doctor and Vanessa as a classic vintage nurse they were on their way to the biggest Halloween party of the year. Before hitting the main event, they decided to take a quick detour to drive through Mick's Bar to show off their costumes to the crowd and grab a quick seasonal drink. At the residence of Julian, Vicky/Allyson's best friend, Oscar and Cameron's friend, and David's girlfriend was busy babysitting young Julian, the imaginative boy kept her entertained by excitedly chatting about a wild story involving a man with a chainsaw hand and a sawed-off shotgun fighting off terrifying monsters. Although Vicky understood that Julian was talking about the legendary hero with a chainsaw hand and a sawed-off shotgun who fought evil monsters to save the world from destruction, she gently told him to stop talking about it so he wouldn't scare himself before bedtime. Although Julian thought it would be cool to keep storytelling about the chainsaw-handed hero, he realized he was exhausted and needed to sleep because he had school the next morning; proving to be a wonderfully kind babysitter, Vicky lovingly told him to brush his teeth, put on his pajamas, and head straight to his room. After turning off the lights and making sure the doors were securely locked to prevent any potential intruders from breaking in, Vicky headed downstairs to catch up on household chores while she waited for her Boyfriend/David to arrive. When David arrived at Julian's house dressed as a farmer and holding a jack-o'-lantern carved with two heart shapes, Vicky happily heard his knock at the door, excitedly welcomed him inside upon seeing that he had returned from Halloween trick-or-treating, and invited him into the house. After sharing a romantic kiss at the doorway before heading further inside Julian's house, Vicky and David enjoyed the evening while, miles away at Haddonfield High School, their friends Oscar, Cameron, and Allyson showed off their festive Halloween costumes and got ready to enjoy the big school Halloween party. While Oscar paused to snap a photo of Cameron and Allyson at the Haddonfield High School Halloween party, Deputy Hawkins entered the building alongside Deputy Graham and Officer Francis to maintain security, pausing briefly to discuss with each other whether anyone had seen Ash Williams. Deputy Hawkins quietly suspected that Ash was still absent because he was busy out in the woods dealing with creeps, but he chose to keep the truth about the teacher's mysterious absence to himself, even as Deputy Graham and Officer Francis insisted that Ash needed to be there to help defend the students from an impending wave of evil though notably, not from Michael Myers. Standing in the eerie shadows of Haddonfield Cemetery, Ash confronted a menacing army of Demon Spawns to demand why they had tracked him down to his hiding place and new home, prompting the leader of the Demon Spawns to explain that over the past four years, their Father/Baal had chosen the Boogeyman to lead them, which led Ash to sharply ask, "Who the hell is Baal?" While Ash listened intently, the leader of the Demon Spawns explained their dark backstory revealing that back in 2012, their Mother/Ruby Knowby used the Necronomicon to prematurely unleash Baal from hell, who then used human skin to disguise himself in the darkness and went on to disclose that Baal had struck a deal with a new psychiatrist to send the Boogeyman to Ash's hometown, leaving Ash to try and figure out what the Boogeyman really was and what Baal was planning before he had even retrieved the ancient book himself. As the Demon Spawn leader explained that Baal sent the Boogeyman named Michael Myers to slaughter Ash's hatred-mob, including his rival Sheriff Thomas Emery, so Baal and the Boogeyman could forge a better world, a deeply disappointed Ash condemned their twisted logic, arguing that letting Baal help Michael destroy his hometown to achieve "Justice" was a complete disaster that was only making the world even worse. Knowing that Baal and Michael were responsible for murdering his Father/Brock Williams, his old best Friend/Chet Kaminski, his Ex-Wife/Candance "Candi" Barr, 3 cops from Michigan Police, and loved ones like Pablo's Uncle/El Brujo, his former Manager/Mr. Roper, and Tattoo Girl/Lucy, Ash listened as the Demon Spawn leader reminded him that five people including Linda Bates/the widow of his rival Thomas Emery, and Lacey Emery survived and moved away to start a fresh life without hating him for the past, pointing out that while the townsfolk of Elk Grove always wrongly blamed Ash for killing eight innocent people, the truth was that Ash never harmed a single human being and only ever destroyed the Deadites. While confident that his loyal employees Pablo Simon Bolivar and Kelly Maxwell could handle Michael Myers on their own, Ash was left in complete shock when the Demon Spawn leader revealed that he had a biological daughter named Brandy Barr whom the Deadites would leave alone following Michael's upcoming rampage on November 1st, 2015 prompting a fierce Ash to warn the demonic army to leave Pablo, Kelly, and Brandy entirely out of it and focus their wrath on him instead. When Ash gave the Demon Spawn army a final ultimatum to leave the people of Haddonfield alone, they flatly refused, announcing they were waiting for 2 Kandarian Demons to arrive and trigger a massive Deadite outbreak and rampage; this blew Ash's mind because he already knew that Professor Knowby's old audio tape recordings had somehow been brought to the Haddonfield Sheriff's Department, leaving the demon leader to taunt Ash that they were waiting for him to try and save humanity while they prepared to attack his new Friend/Laurie Strode and her family. As an apocalyptic Deadite outbreak began to unfold, Ash quickly hopped into his Delta and drove at top speed while calling Laurie Strode to warn her that evil spirits had arrived to destroy her hometown; meanwhile, Laurie urgently tried to contact the sheriff's department to rescue her Daughter/Karen and Son-in-Law/Ray Nelson, while simultaneously asking Karen where her Granddaughter/Allyson was so everyone could stay safely hidden in the basement with all doors and windows securely locked. Ash frantically called Deputy Frank Hawkins to demand an immediate lockdown of the school due to the unfolding Deadite outbreak, Hawkins brushed off the warning, assuring him the school was safe and dismissing the entire crisis as nothing more than a dark, fictional zombie story akin to George Romero's Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. As a panicked Ash insisted he wasn't talking about George Romero's old movies and desperately stressed that real evil spirits had arrived in Haddonfield to destroy the town because they were hunting him down, Deputy Hawkins stubbornly disagreed, telling a frantic Ash to calm down and refusing to take the grave threat seriously. While drive carefully, Ash urgently told Deputy Hawkins to get permission from Sheriff Omar Barker at the Haddonfield Sheriff Department, Hawkins replied that he was already stationed outside Haddonfield High School with Deputy Graham and Officer Francis to defend the students as part of their duty; in response, Ash issued a grim warning that Professor Raymond Knowby's tape recordings were about to unleash hell directly onto the earth realm.

BFFS on a grand day out!

Will I ever stop with the Korry costume redesigns? Doubtful. I took inspiration from George Perez's original art for her hair and face. For Raven I took some design elements for her costume from a few different designs over the years, mixed with her current penchant for cutting and dying her hair. I think it makes a lot of sense as a choice for her actually, and goes in line with her getting a tattoo to reclaim her body after it was conjured by the church of blood.

Also, I ship and let ship, but this is intended platonically, as a celebration of their friendship

Venger V Reference

Reboot of him from 2006:

I had to reboot my first ever OC a superhero OC, made back in 1993, last drawn in 2006 and later uploaded in 2009 in this account, tried to salvage him on and off, but now is back for good. It's been 33 years since I made him and 20 since I last drew him, figured I'd wanna give him one more try, at least to give him a good sendoff.

First off had to change his look, the old one wasn't working out, then as it turned out rather Tokusatsu-ish I gave him the most Tokusatsu name I could give him.

Also needed a weapon, his previous incarnation had a scythe to keep the demonic theme but needed something lighter so gave him a sorta scythe-sword I found, an Egyptian Khopesh Sword. While it was made for an old version of this remake I might dress it up later with a few more Tokusatsu edge to it.

Also he "has" bat wings, just clipped on his shoulder, made him a chain for his claws on the wings can rest so they're not extended all the time, sorta like how Gargoyle's can clip their wings together as a cape but his wings are too short vertically for him to do that.

Weaknesses: Easily distracted by certain people, short temper if people he loves (and his motorbike) are threatened or hurt, or if Italian cooking & wine are disrespected, plus anything else that would hurt a normal human if not protected by his energy.

Here's a reference sheet I drew of Mary Sue's teammates! They're all in everyday clothes with no shoes because I'm bad at drawing shoes and I didn't want to.

Here are the characters and their powers from left to right.

Mary Sue: In addition to telekinesis, she has typical traits of an overly perfect "Mary Sue" character, altering her skills and luck.
Tank: She's super strong and nearly unbreakable. She can throw cars, though she rarely does so because she doesn't like damaging innocent people's property.
Shadow: He can subvert security systems, disarm traps, and move undetected. How he does it is none of your business. Team leader.

Overview

Bruce—better known on the surface as Teen Shark—is one of the many divine offspring of Neptune, God of the Sea. Unlike some of his more naturally bombastic siblings, Bruce has never been particularly interested in proving that he is powerful.

In fact, he is usually much more interested in understanding why something works.

Thoughtful, observant, and surprisingly philosophical for someone who can punch through solid structures, Bruce is the kind of hero who will pause in the middle of a crisis to study the movement of water, consider three possible solutions, and then casually solve the problem with a wall of seawater.

His greatest social weakness is considerably less intimidating than his physical abilities: Bruce does not understand human idioms.

He spent most of his childhood in Atlantis, where communication tends to be direct and literal. Consequently, expressions such as "break a leg," "hold your horses," "spill the beans," or "it's raining cats and dogs" are interpreted as bizarre statements of fact rather than figures of speech.

Bruce has developed a habit of staring silently at humans for several seconds whenever they say something he does not understand. Then he asks. Usually, at the worst possible moment.

Despite this, Bruce is deeply compassionate. He genuinely wants to protect people, and his inability to understand human customs is balanced by an almost complete lack of cynicism. He approaches the surface world with the curiosity of someone discovering an entirely new civilization.

Unfortunately for him, that civilization has television commercials, traffic, slang, social media, pizza delivery, and approximately fourteen million idioms.

Origins

The Son Beneath the Waves

Bruce was born in Atlantis as one of the numerous Sons of Neptune, children blessed with varying degrees of their father's divine connection to the sea.

From the beginning, Bruce was unusual. While many young aquatic demigods developed impressive physical abilities as they matured, Bruce's divine potential manifested in a more subtle fashion. Water seemed to recognize him.

As an infant, Bruce could instinctively manipulate small amounts of water without understanding that he was doing it. Drops floating near him would drift toward his hands. Small currents would change direction when he became excited. If he cried, nearby pools sometimes rippled in response.

His family initially regarded these incidents as amusing manifestations of a young divine child.

Then Bruce started doing it deliberately. By the time he was old enough to understand what his abilities were, he could already swim with astonishing speed and maneuver underwater with complete naturalness.

Yet Bruce's preferred form remained his smallest one.

The Baby Form

Bruce's natural young form is a comparatively tiny, round-bodied shark-like creature. Adorable rather than intimidating, he possesses oversized expressive eyes, a broad smile filled with sharp teeth, little fins and claws, and a deceptively innocent appearance.

In this form, Bruce is playful and affectionate. He likes exploring Atlantis, swimming through underwater architecture, following schools of fish, and collecting interesting objects. He also has a tendency to fall asleep in unusual places. Atlantis has occasionally discovered Bruce sleeping inside ceremonial fountains.

Nobody is entirely sure how he gets there.

The Adolescent Transformation

As Bruce grew older, his divine inheritance began undergoing a dramatic transformation.

His body developed the ability to shift into a considerably larger adolescent form: a powerful humanoid shark capable of standing upright and interacting with the surface world far more easily.

This became his Teen Shark form. The transformation is not merely cosmetic.

When Bruce changes, his connection to Neptune's power becomes significantly more pronounced. His body becomes stronger, faster, tougher, and more capable of channeling the supernatural forces of the ocean.

His adolescent form is armored by a combination of natural aquatic biology and divine energy, giving him the appearance of an oceanic warrior. His shark-like head, fins, claws, powerful tail, and streamlined physique remain unmistakably aquatic, while his clothing and equipment have gradually evolved into a mixture of Atlantean craftsmanship and surface-world superhero aesthetics.

Bruce initially found the larger form uncomfortable. He was used to being small.

Suddenly, doorways were a problem. Furniture was a problem.

Human-sized vehicles were a very serious problem.

And hugs became considerably more complicated.

Over time, however, Bruce learned that his adolescent body was not simply something he had to tolerate. It represented the next stage of his inheritance. It was the form in which he could become a protector.

Life in Atlantis

Bruce spent most of his youth beneath the waves. Atlantis was the only world he truly knew.

To Bruce, enormous underwater palaces, glowing coral structures, schools of luminous fish, ancient temples, and currents carrying whispers across entire districts were completely ordinary.

The surface world was not.

Because of this, Bruce developed a worldview that is simultaneously highly intelligent and hilariously naïve.

He understands oceanography, marine biology, ancient Atlantean history, divine mythology, navigation, underwater combat, and the behavior of currents far better than most humans ever could.

Ask him about a complicated tidal system and he can explain it perfectly. Ask him why humans say they are "under the weather" when they are sick, and he may spend twenty minutes trying to determine which weather system attacked them.

Bruce's intelligence is therefore one of his defining traits.

He isn't the loudest member of his family. He isn't the most aggressive.

He isn't even necessarily the most naturally confident. He is the one who thinks.

Bruce watches. Bruce listens. Bruce considers. Then he acts.

Personality

Bruce is fundamentally a good kid with an enormous amount of power and very little experience with the world above the ocean. He is thoughtful and contemplative, often becoming quiet when he is processing something. He likes asking questions and rarely accepts an explanation simply because someone says, "That's just how it is."

He has a natural scientific curiosity, despite possessing abilities that are fundamentally supernatural.

This creates an interesting contradiction in his personality.

Bruce knows that he is a demigod. He also wants to understand the mechanics behind his powers.

He might spend an afternoon experimenting with the exact distance at which he can teleport through a puddle, then spend the evening asking whether divine water manipulation violates the laws of fluid dynamics. His friends have learned that this is normal.

Earnestness

Bruce does not have much of a filter. If someone tells him they are "dying of embarrassment," Bruce may immediately become concerned. If someone says, "I could eat a horse," he may ask whether they actually require assistance hunting one. If someone says, "You nailed it," Bruce may look at their hands.

He is not stupid. Quite the opposite. He understands literal language exceptionally well.

He simply has not yet mastered the strange cultural tradition humans have developed of saying one thing while meaning another. Bruce is slowly learning. Very slowly.

Becoming a Superhero

Bruce's transition from Atlantean child to surface-world superhero began almost by accident. He had originally been sent toward the surface for a relatively simple diplomatic assignment. The mission was supposed to involve observing human coastal activity and reporting back to Atlantis.

Instead, Bruce encountered a crisis. A group of civilians were trapped during a catastrophic flood.

Bruce acted immediately. He summoned water away from the endangered area, created barriers to redirect the flooding, and used his physical strength to rescue people trapped beneath wreckage.

At one point, Bruce created several watery duplicates of himself to reach multiple victims simultaneously.

The rescue was successful. Unfortunately, it was also witnessed by several people.

And filmed. And uploaded to the internet.

The world suddenly had a new mystery: Who was the blue shark superhero?

Bruce had absolutely no idea what the internet was.

His first reaction upon seeing a video of himself was:

"Why are there many Bruces?"

Someone eventually explained that the footage had been uploaded online.

Bruce stared at the screen.

"By whom?"

"People."

"Why?"

"They thought you were cool."

Bruce considered this.

"...Oh."

That was essentially the beginning of Teen Shark's superhero career.

Powers & Abilities

Aquatic Adaptation

Bruce can live indefinitely underwater. He can breathe beneath the surface, withstand tremendous underwater pressure, and function normally in environments that would be impossible for an ordinary human to survive. He can also transition between land and water without needing special equipment.

Superhuman Swimming

Bruce is an exceptional swimmer even by Atlantean standards.

His shark-like physiology allows him to move through water with extraordinary speed and precision, while his divine nature allows him to manipulate currents around himself. He can accelerate rapidly, change direction almost instantly, and maneuver through extremely confined underwater environments.

When traveling through the open ocean, Bruce is most comfortable and most powerful.

"Strength of Ten Whales"

Bruce possesses tremendous physical strength.

His family describes it using a traditional Atlantean expression:

"The strength of ten whales."

Bruce initially thought this was an exact scientific measurement.

It isn't. Nevertheless, the description is surprisingly accurate.

Teen Shark can lift, throw, smash, and restrain objects far beyond the capabilities of ordinary humans. His immense strength is particularly useful underwater, where he can use his entire body and divine connection to the ocean to generate tremendous force.

His strength also makes him an effective close-range fighter. Bruce does not enjoy fighting, however.

His preferred solution is almost always to immobilize, redirect, rescue, or otherwise neutralize an opponent without causing unnecessary injury.

Hydrokinesis

Bruce possesses divine command over water. This is the ability most directly associated with his heritage as a Son of Neptune. He can manipulate surrounding water into waves, streams, whips, barriers, projectiles, shields, and other formations.

The greater the quantity of water available, the more impressive his potential becomes.

A glass of water is useful. A swimming pool is better. A river is formidable.

The open ocean is where Teen Shark becomes truly extraordinary.

Bruce can manipulate water around himself almost instinctively, allowing him to fight and maneuver in ways that would be impossible for an ordinary aquatic being.

Water Illusions

One of Bruce's most distinctive abilities is his power to create illusions out of water.

These constructs can resemble himself or other objects and can move with remarkable realism.

His favorite application is creating multiple watery duplicates of Teen Shark.

These duplicates can swim, move, gesture, and mimic Bruce's actions, making it difficult for an opponent to determine which one is real. Bruce often uses them tactically rather than offensively.

A single Teen Shark can suddenly become ten. Ten can surround an enemy. Then all ten can disappear at once. The psychological effect is often more powerful than the illusion itself.

Bruce particularly enjoys using watery doubles to rescue people simultaneously from different locations.

His copies are not independent living beings. They are extensions of his water manipulation and illusion abilities, and sufficiently powerful attacks or disruptions can disperse them.

Aquatic Invulnerability

While submerged in water, Bruce becomes extraordinarily difficult to injure.

His divine connection to the ocean effectively surrounds his body with supernatural protection.

Attacks that might seriously hurt him on land can be absorbed, dispersed, or otherwise resisted while he is underwater. This makes the ocean his natural battlefield.

It is also one reason Bruce has a strong preference for fighting villains near water whenever possible.

His enemies have learned to avoid asking: "How strong is that shark?"

The more important question is: "How close is he to the ocean?"

Water Teleportation

Bruce can teleport through water. Rather than simply disappearing and reappearing anywhere, Bruce uses connected bodies of water as supernatural pathways. He can enter one body of water and emerge from another, provided the connection is sufficient for him to establish a route.

This ability allows him to cross enormous distances with startling speed. A puddle can potentially become an entrance. A swimming pool can become an exit. The ocean can become a highway.

Bruce has become particularly adept at using this ability to respond to emergencies along coastlines.

A distress call from one harbor can be followed by a splash. Then Teen Shark emerges from the water.

Fighting Style

Bruce's fighting style combines Atlantean martial arts, shark-like physicality, swimming techniques, and hydrokinesis.

On land, he tends to fight defensively. In water, he becomes dramatically more agile.

He uses currents to change his momentum, water constructs to control enemy movement, illusions to confuse opponents, and his tremendous strength only when necessary.

Rather than simply overpowering an opponent, Bruce likes to create situations where the opponent has no good options.

A typical battle might involve:

Creating several watery duplicates.

Using currents to disorient the opponent.

Appearing behind them through a water portal.

Immobilizing them with a rapidly forming water construct.

Carrying them somewhere safe.

Asking whether they are "feeling better now."

This last step is surprisingly common.

Weaknesses

Despite his divine heritage, Bruce is not without limitations.

Dry Environments

Bruce is still powerful on land, but his connection to water is strongest when he has access to a substantial amount of it. He is therefore considerably more formidable near oceans, rivers, lakes, rainstorms, and other bodies of water.

Limited Illusions

His watery duplicates are extremely convincing, but they are ultimately constructs. An experienced opponent can learn to distinguish them from the real Bruce.

Literal Thinking

Bruce's greatest non-physical weakness is his unfamiliarity with human culture.

He can understand a complicated battle plan. He may not understand a joke.

Inexperience

Bruce is still young.

His divine abilities are immense, but his judgment is still developing. Sometimes he possesses far more power than he has experience using responsibly. This is one of the central reasons he has chosen to become a superhero rather than simply relying on his status as Neptune's son.

He wants to learn.

Relationship With His Father

Bruce's relationship with Neptune is complicated in the way many relationships between powerful parents and their children are complicated.

Neptune recognizes Bruce's enormous potential. Bruce recognizes that Neptune is extraordinarily powerful.

Neither of them is particularly good at saying what they actually mean.

Neptune expects Bruce to eventually embrace his divine heritage. Bruce, meanwhile, is unsure whether he wants to spend his life as a divine prince of Atlantis. He would rather help people.

The surface world fascinates him. Humans confuse him. Their cities are noisy.

Their technology is strange. Their customs make almost no sense.

But their capacity to help complete strangers intrigues him.

Bruce sees something admirable in ordinary humans who willingly put themselves in danger for people they have never met.

That is what ultimately convinces him that being a superhero is not a rejection of his heritage.

It is an expression of it.

Teen Shark's Heroic Philosophy

Bruce has gradually developed a simple philosophy:

"Water connects everything."

To Bruce, the ocean does not belong to Atlantis.

It does not belong to humans. It does not belong to Neptune.

It connects every living thing that depends upon it.

A storm on one side of the world can influence another.

A river can carry something from mountains to the ocean.

A tiny drop of water can eventually become part of something enormous.

Bruce believes people are much the same.

They may live in different worlds, speak different languages, or misunderstand one another, but they are still connected. That belief is what separates Teen Shark from simply being a powerful demigod.

He isn't trying to rule the surface. He isn't trying to prove that Atlantis is superior.

He wants Atlantis and humanity to understand one another.

And if punching an evil supervillain through a concrete wall occasionally becomes necessary to accomplish that goal, Bruce is willing to make the sacrifice.

The Future of Teen Shark

Bruce is still very young by the standards of divine beings.

His current adolescent form may only be the beginning of his growth.

His command over water is expanding. His teleportation range is increasing.

His illusions are becoming more sophisticated.

And his understanding of the surface world is slowly improving.

Eventually, Bruce may become one of Neptune's most powerful offspring—a hero capable of commanding oceans on a scale that even he cannot yet imagine.

But for now, he is still figuring things out. He is still learning human slang. He is still discovering what pizza is.

He is still occasionally mistaken for a giant shark when swimming near the coast.

And he is still trying to understand why humans say they want to "kill two birds with one stone."

The last time someone explained it to him, Bruce spent three hours wondering why anyone would need to throw a stone at two birds.

For all his divine power, brilliant intellect, and terrifying strength, Teen Shark's greatest adventure may ultimately be the simplest one:

learning how to be a hero in a world that isn't his own.

And fortunately for the surface world, Bruce has decided that it is worth protecting.

Even if he still doesn't understand half of what anyone is saying.

Like I said in a lot of recent previous posts, this is gonna be more of a separate thing that isn't directly connected to The Akashic Records and interact with the Records' known factions like The Story Guardians, Bogles, Scrawls, etc.

Not yet at least. You can think of it as showing different worlds & characters BEFORE they ended up interacting with the outside world due to certain circumstances. That way, you can have them without needing to read all of the additional lore about The Records before you decide to use it yourself.

Now about the Story of Teen Shark.
So this character was the result of me learning that the famous movie poster of Bruce The Shark is legally Public Domain. So I had the idea of combining Bruce with Centaur's Shark with some hints of DC's King Shark from Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League.

So in terms of possible interactions with the wider Records, I think that Teen Shark could end up joining The Momento Society alongside a different possible new recruit. Kito, The Circuit Gorilla.

I mean it would make a lot of sense, both come from hidden civilizations, both are intelligent in their own fields, both wanted to help the surface world as well as bridge the gap between their home and the human world.

Though obviously the main differences being that one is a magical demigod son of a literal Roman God from the mythical Atlantis and the other is a Highly Advanced Supersmart Ape from a high tech civilization populated by apes. Plus Kito has slightly more of a grasp on human communication despite not experiencing enough with humans to get it fully pinned down.

The concept of Teen Shark is available for everyone to use i.e. The Creative Commons-0 license, meaning that it is truly in the public domain.
