"I am a kitchen/bathroom installer and stumbled across DIY Kitchens when I was asked to install a kitchen for a customer, supplied by DIY Kitchens. I usually install, Howdens, Benchmarx, Wickes etc and I have to say in comparison it was much better quality! In fact I was so impressed, we decided to use them for our project bungalow refurbishment. We did get a design and price from Howdens in their October sale but DIY came in about 7k cheaper!

As an installer, the online kitchen planning software made the ‘design at home’ process so, so easy! But I’m guessing even someone without a kitchen fitting background would find it easy. There’s also red flags appear if you get any conflicts in your design. Ultimately someone checks your design at point of purchase too, to make sure you haven’t done any big time errors! Our kitchen went through a few designs but the great thing is when that moment of inspiration strikes, the laptop comes out and a few drags and drops and the magic happens. Immediately pricing too so you can project costs alongside design changes.

I done a lot of prep before our kitchen was delivered. With a week delivery slot given at purchase, it was easy to schedule plastering, electrical, plumbing and decoration beforehand.

Delivery was amazing! I am used to lending a hand with a Howdens delivery but I was made redundant with your delivery. Two people armed with special sack barrows were speedy and considerate, thresholds and steps were covered to prevent damage and larder and heavier units were taken straight to their resting place in the kitchen. We never had one bit of damage and all the order was present and correct, carefully signed off as it was unloaded. Thinking about it, there was actually a sink waste, which came without a combined overflow kit. It was reported and the proper item despatched immediately.

We opted for a solid wood, painted kitchen. Chosen from door samples conveniently delivered to our door. From memory it’s the Bramley range in Heron grey with coordinating light grey units. With a DIY kitchen it’s all rigid units, and delivered with all doors and drawers in place and all storage solutions and integrated bins etc already installed within the units. This saves so much time compared to other manufacturers, who would supply everything separately for installer to do. Another bonus being all doors are handed and hung according to your plan. No universal doors and hinge blanks!

The finish on the doors and drawers was perfect and came with a 2 part paint repair kit. I did have a small scratch on a door (of my own doing!) and patched it invisibly.

We opted for 20mm quartz work surface and pre booked a template appointment, at a point about a week in, when I guessed the main construction would be done. The quartz company turned up as per appointment. I discussed a slight change to upstands which the online planning tool wouldn’t let me select at planning stage. I was very surprised, we thought we would have to pay an additional cost but ended up with a £700 refund! As an installer, I’m always picky but I seriously can’t fault their quartz install.

So 8 months later, we wouldn’t change a thing. The design works perfectly, but most importantly the quality still shines through! I would 100% recommend DIY Kitchens."

"We are very happy with our Bramley kitchen, finished in Mussel and Reed Green. The units arrived pre assembled (with the exception of the legs), which made the job of fitting simpler and the quality of the units is fantastic. "We are delighted with the kitchen! As you can see from the 'before' photo, we didn't actually have a kitchen before, just a very 'temporary' set up that ended up lasting us more than 2 years in our new build extension.

It is a big space and we knew we wanted a minimalist, contemporary look with a bit of colour and personality. We like high-end design but were on a more realistic budget and so when we head about DIY Kitchens from a couple of friends, we decided to take a look.

"We wanted to replace our existing kitchen with something that would still be traditional in appearance but with a modern slant. We visited a few other kitchen centres and were drawn in by promises of big discounts but on receiving the final quotes, the discounts were not that obvious as the items were not itemised and the final price was much higher than expected.

What we liked about DIY Kitchens was the fact that you could plan the kitchen in the comfort of your own home and see the cost of every item that was selected. There were no hidden costs and at the end of the day the final price was about 50% cheaper than other quotes we had received.

Before planning the kitchen, we visited the showroom in South Kirkby and were overwhelmed by the choice and quality of the stunning displays. During our visit we took many photos for inspiration to help with our final choice. We finally agreed on the LINTON CARBON range as it was the right dark grey colour with the wood grain finish that we were looking for. Another bonus was that the colour was an almost exact match for our existing LG American Fridge Freezer.

We decided to install the kitchen ourselves as there was a lot of custom joinery involved. An oven canopy was made up from large sheet panels with the addition of small cupboards either side. We also chose the Dekton Laurent worktops through DIY Kitchens and were very pleased with the templating and final installation.

All in all, a very satisfying result, which we hope will last for many years. Thank you DIY Kitchens."

We enjoyed spending time choosing the kitchen at the beautiful showroom. It had so much to choose from and you could really picture how it would look in our home. "We initially heard of DIY Kitchens on Instagram and then researched it further. We wanted to be able to have control over the design of our kitchen and so it seemed like a great option for us. After travelling up to the showroom we knew it was the right choice. "We are still settling into the kitchen but we like everything so far! It is a mix of Bramley Mussel and Cento Davos Oak and was only possible thanks to the huge help that we got from especially Sophie, but also all of the staff who were endlessly patient with us.

I did make a 3D cardboard model of the kitchen units, which enabled the fitters to do the kitchen correctly, while we were away from home. Geeky? yes, but it worked a treat!

We were recommended to look at your site by someone else renovating their house who was on his second kitchen from you. We were beginning to despair of the prices of Howdens (with their mysterious opaque prices) and so called top end places like Kutchenhaus.  

We considered IKEA and were quite impressed but they didn't do some of the things we wanted, such as the wider units.
Price wise, I would say DIY Kitchens ended up about 2/3 of the other prices. Perhaps on a par with Ikea but with a more professional finish and a greater range of choice, which allowed us to be a bit more creative. We could not have achieved this look with max 800mm wide units. Many of ours are 1000mm wide.

In the end we combined a visit to relatives in Leeds with a stop off at your showroom and were very impressed by the quality of the units and the great source of ideas on display there. In fact, our combination of Bramley Mussel and Cento Davos Oak was unashamedly stolen from one of your show kitchens there"

"Really pleased with our new kitchen, quality is very good and all units came ready made and well packaged. The kitchen colour and finish is unique and just what we were looking for.

I loved the ability to be able to design the kitchen ourselves from the comfort of my home. We then forwarded the design on the web site and got some advice from DIY Kitchens, which was very helpful and we then made one or two alterations.

"I'm very happy with the kitchen quality, we had an issue with one door being sent upside down and a bent tap (not DIY Kitchens fault) but these were dealt with quickly. It was great that staff replied even at the weekends because it really helped reduce the stress while the kitchen was being fitted (delays are terrible when you don't have a kitchen for 10 weeks).

My builder was very impressed with the build quality and the fact the doors were all fitted, Howdens rigid units have to have doors fixed apparently, and he ordered himself a DIY Kitchens kitchen after fitting mine.

Not only was I able to play around with designs myself due to the excellent planning tool online, but the cost savings with you meant we could have more features like pull-out drawers and the bin."

"I loved how we could take our time and design and change elements, we went to Howdens and Wren and the design seemed like it was hurried. It was also approx, 20% cheaper than Wren's and Howdens' quote and the finishing touches like the pilasters weren't an option there.

I visited the showroom, a long day out from London but was very impressed by the quality of kitchens on display. The savings I made were very significant, 30-50% compared to other kitchen companies that would be comparable.

I was delighted with the quality of the units and worktop. I used a laminate worktop, which kept costs low but still provided a great work surface and looks really good.

I purchased all of the AEG appliances through DIY Kitchens, which also meant significant savings and included a free dishwasher. I purchased a double oven, induction hob, range hood, washing machine and tumble dryer.

"This is the second kitchen we have purchased from DIY Kitchens, with the previous kitchen being installed in 2012.

With our prior experience, we did not look at any other kitchen retailer; already aware of the value for money, quality of the kitchen  and the longevity of the units.

After 12 years, the old kitchen was showing no signs of age, still with a great finish and all the doors, drawers etc working perfectly. The only reason for a change of kitchen, was due to a reconfiguration in the ground floor rooms.

With the new kitchen position having no window in the area, we opted for a light gloss door and a light stilestone worktop.

For all our units we used the 'tall' option apart from one normal height pull out larder under the steel beam.  This worked seamlessly with the boxed in area above the smaller larder cupboard utilising the door 'sample' we ordered from DIY Kitchens."

"We were sure that we wanted an inframe kitchen, as we felt that it was important to us for durability, as we are a family of 5 and it would need to withstand the constant opening and closing of cupboards.

When visiting high end kitchen suppliers, we also noticed that the inframe feature was something that really elevated the look of the kitchen with regards to the overall quality. Once this was decided, my sister-in-law recommended yourselves, as she had fitted the Hemsley kitchen in her house a few years ago.

When ordering samples and realising the bespoke colours were an option, we really knew that this was going to be the way forward in planning our kitchen. The planning was the trickiest part but with some help, we managed to come to a final decision.

Price wise, you could not be matched, we had been hit with some really high prices and were getting a little disheartening at the thought that maybe an inframe kitchen was not going to be in our price range.

As the kitchen was such a great price, we then had the option to add the upgrade features, dovetail drawers, glass drawer side etc. This also meant that we could spend more on our handles and appliances.

"A family member had recently ordered their kitchen from DIY Kitchens and we were so impressed with the quality, that we decided to include them when we started looking for a kitchen for our new house project.

We were very particular with the design of the kitchen, and the quotes we were getting back from other suppliers were more than £10k over the price from DIY Kitchens.

The key decision point for us was the option to choose a custom colour, which meant we could match the kitchen to other key features in the house, and the quality of the drawers. Once the decision was made to go for DIY Kitchens, we spent a day in the showroom in Yorkshire, the advice and guidance we got from the staff there was invaluable and really helped get the design finalised.

We had a few minor issues during installation, but the after sales support team dealt with it, and replacement parts were sent very quickly (considering our kitchen was a bespoke colour!).

"We’re really glad we found DIY Kitchens. The quality of the cabinets, fittings and doors has been excellent. They were straight forward to fit, feel very sturdy and are easy to keep clean, which was important with a young family.

Their online tool also allowed us much more freedom to design the kitchen we really wanted and to play around with the design until we got it right for us. "DIY Kitchens were recommended by my brother who was impressed with the quality and how solid the units were.
I initially just used the planner on the DIY Kitchens website, as it was far better than any other I've seen online. I found it so easy to use and loved the 3D images it produced.

I also found that DIY Kitchens had a much better selection of units than any competitors, and the prices were lower than Wren or Howdens. In particular, hardly any other company could supply the Tambour Dresser Units that we wanted to situate on the worktop. I got the builder to fit drawer runners to the bottom shelf in the Tambour and it's a great way to hide the toaster and coffee machine for a clutter-free kitchen.

Our builder was impressed with the quality of the kitchen units and I suspect he will be using DIY Kitchens in the future!

"Our kitchen has been in for six months now and it's great. Good quality, nice finish and the installer, who hadn't installed a DIY Kitchens kitchen before, said it was good to work with and well thought through.

Service from the company was excellent, particularly as it was time critical and production fell in the week before your Christmas shutdown, so I moved from delivery, to collecting it myself. The loading bay team was particularly helpful.

Two components supplied were the wrong colour - corner infills - but the correct ones were quickly and efficiently dispatched. No hassle.

An absolute nightmare from start to finish! I recently purchased some standard laminate worktops (the type you can buy in any diy shop or good online retailer).

It took almost 4 weeks for them to be delivered. To be fair, when I made the order, they did say that the product would arrive w/c 14 October. DIY kitchens don't give any more information than that so you can't make plans for the whole week as you never know when they might decide to surprise you with a delivery. I had to contact DIY kitchens twice during the week (wasting at least 20 mins holding on the phone each time) to check that it was going to be delivered. Customer service won't share any information about the delivery and I got bounced around a few times to still be told nothing. I got 2 hours notice before the delivery people arrived. Although you pay over £90 for delivery so I would have hoped for some more information at the start of the week.

When the laminate tops eventually arrived I realised they were not going to work. The quality was cheaper than I expected and the colour was not how it appeared on the website.

I phoned DIY kitchens immediately and explained the situation (another 30 min wait on the phone). They told me to write an email and it should be ok - which I did straight away. In return I got a very short sharp email telling me that it's a bespoke product and they wont refund me. I never saw a warning on the website during the order process, nothing in their T&Cs and nothing in their confirmation emails to say these specific items are custom. I would never think that a standard laminate top is custom made - they made no special cuts or anything.

Oh and to top it of they also missed items from my order and delivered the wrong thing.
In summary, customer service is terrible and you are made to feel like they are doing you a favour. Doors from a previous order of okay but easily chipped. I've now paid for over expensive laminate worktops that are useless.

"We heard about DIY Kitchens on social media and as it was local to us, we visited the showroom. We knew we wanted to design and fit our kitchen ourselves after the builders had done our extension.

We loved the idea that we could spend as much time as we liked, wandering around, getting ideas and advice from the staff if we needed it. We also liked the fact that there’s no sales staff to pressure you.

"We had been planning to knock through the kitchen and dining room since we moved into our house four years ago, and had been playing with layouts on the DIY Kitchens planner for a number of months before purchasing.

The design we chose maximised the available counter space and created a large peninsular to zone the area. The quality of the carcasses and doors surpasses anything we've previously had from high-street brands, the corner base units offer fantastic storage, and the colour of the doors was exactly what we were looking for.

"My kitchen project started as part of a full house renovation, so it was quite difficult to picture. I loved the design software because it brought my ideas to life, all I had at the start was an old conservatory to knock down, new foundations to go in and a whole new extension to build. I didn’t just look at the software to change and amend my design, I kept looking at it to give me hope that one day we would be finished and I would have this fabulous kitchen.

We chose DIY Kitchens for a few reasons, as everyone we were on a budget, but the cost wasn’t as important as quality and value for money. We sent off for a number of sample doors and we were so impressed that we could actually afford the painted doors rather than the vinyl wrapped and still save £1,000s on any high street or trade type outlets. The same kitchen with wrapped doors and including appliances were coming out at between £22-£36,000. With DIY Kitchens I had better quality doors and white goods for £15,500 and also a massively speedier delivery window of just 3 weeks. Win, win, win.

My stress levels reached ‘high’ on occasion when I couldn’t get the software to work but the customer support team were absolutely fantastic.

Once I’d pressed the order button I confess I was more than a little anxious, but arrival date came, the delivery boys were superb and placed the multitude of boxes in the room they were being fitted and my carpenter arrived to complete the fitting a few days later. We added an oak breakfast bar using some spare oak from the project, a bit of retro 70s paper and the whole thing looks absolutely amazing.

We had the arrival of a puppy just 2 weeks after the kitchen was fitted, my husband was besides himself in case the dog chewed it but I can happily report both the dog and the kitchen are still intact. When he was a puppy he enjoyed climbing in the dishwasher but he’s now 10 months and 40lbs and still growing so we don’t let him do that anymore!
