“To Furry or Not to Furry”

How do we navigate the fact that our fandom / fetish / whatever exists largely straddling the borders of the furry fandom? What does it mean to be into TF but not be a furry? Does everyone need a fursona? Spoiler alert, they don’t.

A shorter episode that is largely an overture for everyone to chill the fudge out about needing their entire social circle to participate in exactly the same stuff exactly the same way, but also an examination of where that impulse sometimes comes from.

This is the literature episode! We discuss TF in ancient literature / mythology, children’s literature, adult literature, and tabletop games. That’s a huge gamut, so there’s a lot of stories and topics we only briefly cover! Sorry to anyone if we missed your fave.

Hey folks! It’s been a little while, but here’s the next episode of Double Helix. We actually recorded this one back around March this year, but unfortunately we’ve been delayed in getting it out on account of life and other projects getting in the way.

This episode is focused on the discussion of problematic fetishes - what it means to like stuff that’s intense, difficult or scary, and how to engage with that as both a creator and a consumer. Basically, all of us on the podcast have jerked off to stuff along the lines of “hey what about if someone turned me into an animal against my will and fucked me the most // what if I did that to someone else”, which is a fairly intense situation, but that’s not really something people are able to talk through with other people very much, for obvious reasons. So, we take it on!

For a bit more specific context, this discussion was prompted by the release of the movie 50 Shades of Grey (and we recorded it not long after that come out), so we do wind up talking about that cultural phenomenon a lot. The good news is you certainly don’t have to have seen the movie or read the book to follow the podcast (none of us have done either, haha).

getting into the tf community

Hey folks!

As part of doing the Double Helix Podcast, we’ve had enough questions come through from people wanting to know some good starting steps for getting into the TF community that we thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of some places to start. This list isn’t absolutely all the options available obviously, but we’re aiming to provide at least some options of nice, easier places to start mingling with people in the TF community in some way, if for now you feel like you’re just on the outside looking in. Not all of these options might work for all people too, but hopefully there’ll be something there that’s helpful for folks.

Twitter/Tumblr - these are probably the easiest places to start actually interacting with people who you know share an interest in TF with you outside of leaving comments on FurAffinity or something. It’s a good way to get to know people at least a little bit, and you can find out you have a lot more in common with them than you’d thought, and wind up getting on really well, but all without having to, say, start a Skype conversation with them directly. Fetlife - this is definitely a way more directly adult option, but if you fancy there’s definitely some related groups that you can investigate. This is actually maybe one of the best options for people looking for an old style forum, since groups on there often have a wide range of topics (that sometimes don’t even involve sex). Searching “transformation” in groups brings up a ton of hits on topics ranging from general (“human to animal transformation”) to much more specific.
