The first few days of week one were pretty low key. I decided to just do 30 minutes of cardio and see how I felt the next few days. I knew that it would take a month or so to get to the point where I was able to go every day of the week and do 1 hour of cardio and a brisk pace. I am not there yet but it's becoming easier and easier!

I haven't really attempted to alter my eating habits. I don't really eat too badly, it was more of the not doing anything at all that allowed the weight to build up. I also attribute it to age, you know none of us are getting any younger....ha ha ha.

My goal is to get to the point where I can actually do 1.5-2.0 hours of mostly cardio workouts. I will probably keep the workouts to walking on the treadmill, stationary bike, and maybe one of those other fancy machines I haven't tried yet.

I guess I am in about week 3~ish now and I expect after the holiday starting in January i will be able to kick up the works to the 1.5 hour mark and add another day of the week. I should be able to do 5 days a week without much pain (^_^)

Okay gotta go. The Podcast is on the way, I promise!

The Update

Let me start with updating you on the current state of the host, that's me by the way. I have found a job and have settled into it pretty well. I a working remotely with travel to sites several times a year. This has been both a blessing and a curse. I don't have to get up and take a shower and fight traffic every day. I can see my son off and hang out with him when he is finished with school. I can save money on gas and food. I don't have to worry about having clean nice looking clothes, lol.

Now for the bad..... I don't have to get up, get ready, and take a shower. I just roll out of bed and turn on my computer. The fridge is 20-30 steps away. I don't actually have to leave the house. I often don't know what the weather is actually like. Snacks, Cola's, and other food. General sedimentary lifestyle is very easy to do, and let me tell you before 3 weeks ago...... I was becoming a pro at it.

Three weeks ago I decided that the only way I was going to ever get healthy again was to get my fat ass to the gym. So I called my local Golds Gym and found out it was much cheaper than I thought it was going to be, and that they actually had free 2 hour day care! I think the price is like $30-35 a month for an unlimited membership. For that price it was a no-brainer.

Another benefit of the gym and perhaps the main reason I wanted to go to the gym and not just walk around my neighborhood or ride my bicycle, was that I could actually get out of the house and see "people". When you work from home it's very difficult to get motivated to get out and be social, especially if you are new to an area and basically have no friends.

So, the Drop A Ton! Podcast is back!! I am sorry the last attempt was feeble at best, but I am here to say the journey back to a more healthy lifestyle has actually begun. I will be recording the first episode of the "re-start" and hopefully getting it back on iTunes and in other podcast directories.
