Photography by Ciaran Christopher with Creative Direction from Darkwah

There’s a certain kind of chaos that only shows up after midnight—and Lostchild captures it with unnerving precision on new single “Never Sleep.”

Following the hedonistic, club-fuelled energy of “L V S T,” this latest release flips the narrative entirely. Instead of bodies on the dancefloor, “Never Sleep” drags us into the aftermath—the quiet, restless hours where guilt, anxiety and intrusive thoughts refuse to let go.

Built on a thunderous bassline and an aching, slow-burn melody, the track sits firmly in that sweet spot between alt-pop and emotional electronic. There are echoes of the melancholic vulnerability you’d find in the darker moments of Troye Sivan or Olly Alexander, but Lostchild’s delivery feels far more unfiltered—raw, urgent, and completely immersive.

What really hits is the escalation. As the track unfolds, the tension builds and builds until it spills over—Lostchild quite literally screaming into the void, pushing the chorus skyward as night bleeds into morning. It’s not just a song about insomnia; it feels like it.

Lyrically, “Never Sleep” taps into something deeply relatable—the mental loop of overthinking, the physical toll of stress, the noise that gets louder the more you try to ignore it. It’s uncomfortable in places, but that’s exactly the point.

Written by Lostchild alongside Janethan and entirely produced, mixed and mastered by the artist himself, the track is another strong statement from a rising queer voice in London’s alt-pop underground—one who isn’t afraid to sit in the darker corners of emotion and turn them into something strangely beautiful.

If “L V S T” was the high, “Never Sleep” is the comedown—and it’s every bit as compelling.

Listen to “Never Sleep” now… preferably with the lights off.

Rose-Tinted” captures that rare sweet spot where emotional honesty meets dancefloor release. Kyle Waves is proving his softer, mood-driven pop era has serious staying power.

With his previous release “Picture In My Phone,” dance-pop artist Kyle Waves hinted at a sonic evolution. Moving beyond straightforward dance-pop, he tapped into a moodier, after-hours energy that felt less like a detour and more like the beginning of a new creative chapter. On his second release of 2026, “Rose-Tinted,” he fully embraces that space, and the result feels even more compelling.

Built around a notably hypnotic groove, “Rose-Tinted” pulls you in with understated confidence. There’s a soft-focus allure to the production, but beneath its mellow exterior lies a song charged with emotional movement. Kyle uses introspective lyricism to explore the tension between self-doubt and resilience, navigating the uncertainty that often comes with figuring out your direction in your twenties. It’s deeply personal, yet instantly relatable.

That emotional duality is beautifully summed up in Kyle’s own words: “I’d describe the feeling of this song as dancing in slow motion under pink neon lights in the club. It’s 3 AM, and you’re kind of in your feelings, but despite that, you’re still dancing, and you feel more alive than ever!”

It’s an evocative description, and honestly, it captures the essence of the track perfectly.

Where “Picture In My Phone” introduced this softer, more nocturnal aesthetic, “Rose-Tinted” refines it. Kyle’s latest signature style feels immersive and assured, balancing vulnerability with subtle empowerment. While the mood is gentler and more reflective, there is nothing slow-burning about its impact. The track glows with emotional immediacy, offering comfort without losing its pulse.

What makes “Rose-Tinted” especially exciting is how naturally Kyle Waves is carving out a distinct identity within modern dance-pop. He’s not simply following a trend of moody club introspection; he’s making it personal, giving it narrative, and infusing it with purpose. In a space often driven by escapism, “Rose-Tinted” stands out by embracing emotional honesty on the dancefloor. It feels like another important step in Kyle Waves’ evolution, and more importantly, a sign there is even more depth waiting to unfold.

There’s something quietly magnetic about Dirt Flirt right now. The project of London-based multi-instrumentalist Kit Eaton-Kent continues to carve out a distinctive lane in alt-pop, rooted in honest, evocative lyricism and emotional complexity. Openly navigating messy breakups, identity and self-discovery, Dirt Flirt is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing emerging artists on the UK queer pop landscape.

With the new EP “Scorpio Fever”, arriving 22nd May via Final Girl Records, that emotional depth moves into darker territory. Across five tracks, the project promises to explore vulnerability, obsession and eventual release. These are themes already beginning to reveal themselves through it’s singles.

Following the previously released “focus on u,” which captured the intoxicating haze of infatuation and that all-consuming moment when one person becomes your entire universe. However, the new single “honest” flips the emotional perspective entirely. Here, Dirt Flirt examines the decline of a relationship when idealisation fades and difficult truths begin to surface.

She says, “honest” invites the listener into an intimate setting where a relationship is starting to fall apart, and the obsession and idealisation has faded. It explores the vulnerability of realising your own flaws, as well as someone else’s.”

What makes “honest” especially compelling above all is that it resists leaning into melodrama. This is not heartbreak delivered in a brooding, heavy-handed way. Instead, there’s a considered thoughtfulness in how Dirt Flirt processes the emotional intricacies of a relationship unravelling. Wrapped in a soft electro soundscape with a subtle Lauv-like allure, the track feels intimate, reflective and quietly devastating.

“Focus on u” captured obsession and “honest” documents emotional reckoning. These songs don’t just document feelings, they equally metabolise them into something immersive, intelligent and deeply human. Consider the fever officially spreading.

Adding even more momentum to the release, a headlining debut at The Victoria in London on 23rd May to celebrate “Scorpio Fever” is announced. Dirt Flirt firmly belongs among London’s next wave of queer pop disruptors. Do you have scorpio fever?

Right on cue, Kim Petras is back with a dazzling new drop that feels as urgent as it is intentional. “Need for Speed” lands in the midst of a whirlwind release cycle, following her self-released “Pre-Tour“ EP, a string of underground-leaning tracks that have been building momentum across YouTube and SoundCloud. If that run felt like a clearing of the throat, this latest single is the full-voice declaration.

There’s been no mystery surrounding Kim’s current headspace. She’s spoken candidly about the tension between her artistry and the constraints of a major-label system, and “Need for Speed” doesn’t shy away from that reality. Released independently via her own BunHead Records, the track pulses with a sense of reclaimed autonomy. Sonically, it’s a thrilling return to her neon-lit electro-pop roots—high-gloss, high-energy, and undeniably addictive.

Lyrically, though, there’s bite beneath the shimmer. Kim lays it out plainly:

“the constant push for more hits and more success, which ultimately erases your personality until your only personality trait is being so busy and fast that you basically don’t have a life.”

It’s a striking image. One she pushes even further, adding that she wanted to,

“describe this feeling of being in a machine, but wanting to break out of it and feeling like you’ve become this monster version of yourself that isn’t able to let anyone in because there is nothing there except the need for going further and faster.”

The music video, directed by Ashley Hood, amplifies that message with a bold, almost chaotic visual narrative. It’s part industry satire, part personal diary—packed with symbolism and sponsorship, but refreshingly upfront about its meaning. Nothing feels accidental here; every frame feeds into the bigger picture Kim is painting.

And that picture is leading us toward the impending release of the album “Detour“. Whether this detour marks a breaking point or a breakthrough, one thing feels certain: Kim Petras is firmly back in the driver’s seat, and she’s not slowing down for anyone.

London-based Danish rising artist Emma See returns with a shimmering statement of self-liberation on her new single “How to Drive”. A track that feels made for the arrival of spring. Wrapped in hazy, feel-good production and carried by an effortlessly catchy pop pulse. The song lands in that sweet spot where introspective songwriting meets dreamy, uplifting escapism. It’s the kind of release that radiates what I affectionately call blue sky music. Directly, songs that feel especially right when they arrive after the storm.

There’s a breezy emotional openness woven through “How to Drive” that immediately draws you in. While its melodic glow feels light and transportive, there’s something far more profound moving underneath. Emma See uses that contrast beautifully, pairing warm, luminous sonics with a message rooted in personal growth, uncertainty, and choosing your own path when the familiar no longer serves you.

Which makes the song’s central theme hit even harder.

“It was written in the aftermath of a dysfunctional relationship and captures that moment when you finally choose yourself – even if it means standing alone. For me, ’How to Drive’ became a way of letting go of old patterns and accepting that you don’t need to know the road or your destination to move forward,” says Emma See.

That sentiment gives “How to Drive” its emotional resonance. It isn’t simply a breakup song or an empowerment anthem, it speaks to the messy, often uncharted process of reclaiming yourself. Emma See taps into a universal tension. The fear of moving forward without a map, while gently suggesting that uncertainty can be its own kind of freedom.

Sonically, she delivers that message through dreamy pop textures that feel both intimate and expansive, allowing the track to drift with an almost cinematic ease. It’s sophisticated yet accessible, polished without losing emotional warmth.

Significantly, “How to Drive” also marks the beginning of a larger conceptual project exploring identity and the search for direction. Ultimately making this feel less like a standalone single and more like the opening chapter of something thoughtfully envisioned.

Emma See is building a world worth following. “How to Drive” doesn’t just soundtrack the act of moving on, it reframes not knowing where you’re headed as part of the beauty. In a pop landscape often obsessed with certainty, Emma See makes a compelling case for trusting the road as it unfolds.

“The moment the people-pleaser finally snaps.” Marlowe says it best. “Psychopath” channels emotional breaking points into one of their boldest tracks yet.

Exciting times are unfolding for Marlowe. The Venezuelan-born, London-based artist is preparing to return with “Submissive (Reloaded)“, a deluxe reimagining of their 2025 debut project, arriving May 1st via Plant Pot Records. Expanding on themes of identity, resistance, and personal truth, the reloaded edition promises to deepen the story of fighting to defend beliefs, core values, and selfhood in a world eager to challenge them.

Offering the first taste of the new era, Marlowe drops “Psychopath,” and it’s a thrillingly dark, emotionally charged statement. Driven by pulsing electro-dance production and wrapped in brooding alt-pop textures, the track finds Marlowe leaning further into a sharper, more fearless creative edge. There’s tension in the beats, release in the hooks, and a raw emotional undercurrent that makes the song hit beyond the dancefloor.

What feels especially compelling is how “Psychopath” channels inner chaos into empowerment. While Marlowe has always brought lyricism and vulnerability to their work, this track feels more exposed, more volatile, and all the more magnetic because of it. It captures the breaking point where suppression gives way to liberation.

Speaking about the single, Marlowe explains, “Psychopath” is about losing control of the version of yourself you’ve tried so hard to maintain. It’s messy, dramatic, maybe even a bit unhinged, but also freeing. It’s the moment the people-pleaser finally snaps”.

That statement lands powerfully when paired with the broader concept of “Submissive (Reloaded)”. Rather than simply revisiting a debut, it appears to be reshaped with greater urgency and emotional precision, giving listeners a more evolved reflection of the original project’s themes.

With “Psychopath,” Marlowe proves they’re not just revisiting old ground, they’re transforming it. There’s boldness in this new chapter, but also deeper intention. Seemingly, this is a mission is to turn personal upheaval into cathartic pop with substance. And this new era is already shaping up to be their most vital and exciting yet.

"I Feel So Free" unleashed - Madonna whispering “Come and meet me on the dancefloor…” may be the most dangerously seductive thing pop has given us in years...

Summer 2026 has officially been claimed by Madonna. With the long-awaited announcement that “Confessions on a Dancefloor II ” arrives July 3rd, excitement around the Queen of Pop has surged into overdrive. And she wasted no time proving the hype is justified.

Following fevered speculation, she made a triumphant return to Coachella, joining Sabrina Carpenter during her Friday headline set. The pair thrilled festival-goers with classic Madonna hits before sending rumours of a collaboration into meltdown by debuting an untitled new track laced with dancefloor touches. Its euphoric pulse and nods to late-80s dance culture already feel perfectly aligned with the spirit of ‘Confessions’ reborn.

Yet that was only the beginning. Hours later, the pop Queen officially dropped “I Feel So Free,” a bold, immersive introduction to the new era. And what an introduction it is. With spoken-word refrains inviting listeners into “Confessions on a Dancefloor II”, Madonna seduces with:

“Sometimes I just like to hide in the shadows. Create a new persona. A different identity. Create a new persona. Honestly, I wish I could be like other people and just not care… but out here on the dancefloor, I feel so free“

Then comes the killer instinct: “Come and meet me on the dancefloor… That’s why I like to go dancing, safety in numbers… It’s dangerous with just one person, that’s not a nice feeling.”

Produced by Stuart Price and Arca, the track channels the sensual tension of Lil Louis “French Kiss” and the transcendent shimmer of Donna Summer‘s “I Feel Love”, while sounding unmistakably fresh. It’s retro-futurist, spiritual, and gloriously embodied. Interestingly, both Madonna and Harry Styles have now opened new album eras with sprawling, five-minute-plus sonic statements. This is a telling sign that pop’s biggest visionaries are thinking expansively again.

If “I Feel So Free” is the threshold, then “Confessions on a Dancefloor II” looks set to be the ritual. She sums up “Confessions on a Dancefloor II” by quoting the first few lines of her song, “One Step Away”.

“People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”

With that, Madonna opens the door; the dancefloor is now, once again, the most important place in pop.

Rhian! is proving, once again, that versatility isn’t just part of his artistry, it is the artistry. Covering his journey for the blog, I’ve seen him glide effortlessly between styles, from whimsical pop moments to emotionally rich ballads, and now firmly into his dancefloor era. If early 2026 is anything to go by, we’re in the midst of a full-bodied, feel-good sonic takeover.

Kicking things off with “Up & Down” in January, Rhian! set the tone with a high-energy pulse. Now, with his second release of the year, “Keep It Together,” he pivots into something just as infectious, but with a distinctly retro twist. This time, he’s tapping into old-school disco. Think shimmering grooves, buoyant rhythms, and a warmth that feels like stepping into a sunlit dancefloor after a long winter.

But what truly elevates Rhian! beyond the music is his unwavering positivity. It’s not just a vibe, it’s a philosophy. Fans will already be familiar with his “Words of Wisdom Wednesday” posts across social media, where he consistently uplifts and encourages. That same energy flows seamlessly into his music, giving his tracks an emotional resonance that sticks long after the beat fades.

“Keep It Together” embodies that ethos perfectly. As Rhian! himself explains, “the track is about tapping into inner strength and pushing through adversity”. Lines like “Keep it together, keep your head to the sky… and you’ll be alright” don’t just sound good layered over disco beats they feel necessary, like a gentle but persistent reminder to hold on through life’s tougher moments.

There’s a beautiful duality at play here. A song that works as both a carefree club anthem and a quietly empowering mantra. The glittering disco influences bring the joy, while the message grounds it in something deeper and more meaningful.

With “Keep It Together,” Rhian! doesn’t just deliver another dancefloor-ready hit he offers a moment of lightness, resilience, and emotional lift. And honestly, as we shake off the last chill of winter, that’s exactly the kind of energy we need more of right now.

Be Like Milo returns with “Ready to Lose”. A shimmering, Robyn-esque synth-pop cut that is not a heartbreak song but instead a break my heart track.

Emerging alt-pop artist Be Like Milo has been on my radar for a while now, steadily pulling me deeper into his world of thoughtful, dark-leaning pop and dynamic hyper-alt-pop musicality. With the “Broken Record” EP, he showcased a real knack for poignant, dreamy balladry, songs that don’t just play, but linger, quietly unravelling their emotions with every listen.

Now, with his first release of 2026, “Ready to Lose,” Be Like Milo leans into the dancefloor, without losing any of that emotional depth. It’s a shimmering slice of synth-pop, driven by a propulsive bassline and polished with an effervescent sheen that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current. There’s a clear nod to Robyn-esque influence here, but Be Like Milo makes the sound entirely his own, blending melancholy with movement in a way that feels effortlessly compelling.

What really elevates “Ready to Lose” is the story behind it. Speaking on the track, Milo explains:

“Who needs more heartbreak songs?… This is a break my heart song. I wrote it after getting home from a night out, where I met a guy I knew I was only using to distract myself from a deeper heartbreak. I think we’ve all had those moments where you choose the distraction, even when you know it’s not what you need.”

That emotional push-and-pull is exactly what gives the track its edge. It’s about self-awareness, and contradiction. Those fleeting moments where we knowingly lean into the wrong choice just to feel something.

There’s a noticeable progression here from “Broken Record.” The sound feels bolder, more immediate, and primed for wider appeal, yet still anchored in the introspective storytelling. As an independent artist, Be Like Milo is clearly refining both his sound and identity with impressive speed.

With a headline launch show at The Waiting Room in London on 18th April, (Tickets Here) and the release of “Ready to lose” Be Like Milo isn’t just building momentum. He’s shaping a narrative that feels authentic, emotionally intelligent, and increasingly hard to ignore.

MUNA are firmly in their main-character era — and the build-up to their fourth album “Dancing On The Wall” (landing May 8th) is shaping up to be one of their most compelling rollouts yet. With teaser tracks steadily arriving, MUNA have already hinted at a darker, more daring sonic palette — but nothing quite prepares you for the punch of “Wannabeher.”

Following the moody allure of the title track and the sharp-edged introspection of “So What,” “Wannabeher” lands like a lightning strike. Co-written with longtime pop collaborator Leland, the track exudes a fresh, fearless energy. It’s urgent, gritty, and gloriously unpolished in all the right ways. If “Silk Chiffon” was a soft-focus daydream, this is the after-hours spiral — all sweat, tension, and emotional static.

What makes “Wannabeher” even more intriguing is its long gestation. As Katie Gavin shared during its BBC Radio 1 premiere, Hottest Record with Jack Saunders, parts of the song trace back to 2017. That sense of history hums beneath the surface. You can feel the years of shaping, refining, and ultimately letting the track evolve into something bolder than its origins.

Sonically, MUNA push beyond their alt-pop comfort zone, leaning into a pop-punk-tinged propulsion that feels both raw and intentional. Their cited inspiration — Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” — offers a perfect lens. This isn’t just a stylistic pivot; it’s a thematic deep dive into identity and desire. As the band put it:

“This song is our version of Bikini Kill’s Rebel Girl – it’s about the experience of really admiring someone and feeling confused about whether you want to be them or be with them or both. A gay canon event.”

Directed by Dante Capone, the accompanying visual amplifies that tension. Moving between performance and introspection, it unfolds within the same shadowy, sweat-soaked world introduced in “Dancing On The Wall,” where longing and self-perception blur under pressure.

This rollout isn’t just another chapter, it’s a reinvention. MUNA aren’t just evolving, they’re recalibrating their entire artistic compass. “Wannabeher” doesn’t just signal growth; it demands attention. And in doing so, it positions MUNA not just as alt-pop mainstays, but as fearless architects of their own reinvention.
