St. Thomas University Leads Recording of World Youth Day English Theme Music Video

St. Thomas University (STU) students and young adults representing the Archdiocese of Miami were selected to participate as the main cast in the official music video for World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023. The song, "Feel the Rush in the Air!", was recently recorded on the STU campus, in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The project for the new WYD English-language Theme Song was entrusted by the WYD Organizing Committee to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The USCCB commissioned STU Campus Ministry Director, Iván Díaz, to lead the production. The song was translated by João Paulo Va, Tom Booth, Iván Díaz, and Thomas Muglia. The WYD Lisbon English Theme Song was produced by Josh Blakesley, featuring OCP Artists PJ Anderson, Dana Catherine, Iván Díaz, and Mary Kate Westrich. The video has been released just in time for the final preparations for WYD and can be watched below.

The music video was produced by Jay Ramirez and recorded at STU over two days. The STU Office of Campus Ministry led the casting and more than 30 young people participated in the video. The video script was inspired by the theme chosen by Pope Francis, "Mary arose and went with haste" (Lk 1:39). The video showcases the Archdiocese of Miami WYD Cross, which includes the logos of all World Youth Days, and was blessed by Archbishop Thomas Wenski at STU.

Father Rafael Capó, STU Vice President for Mission and Ministry, who appears in the video, shared STU's excitement about the project: "St. Thomas University is excited to have been part of this international project that reflects the spirit that will inspire young people from all over the world to witness to the joy of the Gospel in Lisbon. Our own STU delegation to Portugal cannot wait to serve as leaders during WYD and to come back as missionary disciples in Miami and beyond."

Paul Jarzembowski, USCCB Associate Director of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth invited Iván Díaz to lead the project of translating and producing the new audio and music video in preparation for World Youth Day 2023. Lisbon, Portugal, is the city chosen by Pope Francis for the next international edition of World Youth Day, which will take place between August 1 and 6, 2023. The international editions of WYD are a religious and cultural event that brings together hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world for about a week.

Iván Díaz, STU Director of Campus Ministry, shared his joy and excitement for leading the project: "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead this international production because WYD is the biggest gathering for young Catholics. I had the blessing to work with awesome producers, artists, musicians, actors, and talented students from STU, and I hope this dynamic version will ignite the spiritual fire of young people to follow Christ."

The project of the WYD Lisbon English Theme Song is a collective effort of the Fundação JMJ Lisboa 2023, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Oregon Catholic Press (OCP), and St. Thomas University.

When I was younger my father told me that four years in the life of a young person is much longer than an adult. Fast forward to today, four years later, and she is 21 years old and has experienced what feels like decades of growth. Top Independent Latin record label RichMusic LTD continues to build its talent arsenal, announcing that it has signed five new artists to the label including Colombian producer Animal, the label's first female signing paopao from Puerto Rico, producer and songwriter Symon Dice, up-and-coming Argentinian singer Thyago and Venezuelan photographer Luis "Vomba" Marquez. With the addition of these new musical artists and a visionary photographer, each new signing brings something unique to the table, helping RichMusic merge music and visual content and push the boundaries of what a Latin record label can provide for artists from a creative perspective.

Meet the five new artists whose art RichMusic will be bringing to the masses:

Animal: Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, Animal's original career path was to be a lawyer, but growing up he always had a passion for music which had a powerful pull on him and took him down a very different path in life. He fell in love with urban music after being inspired by artists like Lil Wayne and he knew he wanted to dedicate his life to creating sounds that affected people in the same way. With a degree in sound engineering, he eventually became the owner of Music Factory, a small but successful recording studio in Medellín where the likes of Maluma and Karol G recorded some of their hits. After visiting the city of Miami, his life changed again as he decided to sell his studio and move to South Florida to create music alongside independent record label RichMusic. His sound has evolved to urban pop with a powerful beat. Animal is currently working on his upcoming album and is set to release his first single, a collaboration with Venezuelan artist Adso Alejandro in the coming weeks.

paopao: Paola Nicole Marrero Rodríguez, known professionally as paopao, is a Puerto Rican Latin GRAMMY® winning singer-songwriter. Her musical style is described as a mix of reggaeton and alternative pop. As the only female artist on the roster, she brings perhaps the most unique element to the mix. Paola was involved in music and the arts from an early age, performing wherever she could, taking dance, piano, guitar and vocal lessons, and writing original music. After graduating highschool in the Dominican Republic in 2013, she moved to Miami to study media writing and production with a minor in songwriting at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music and later completed her Master's program in Music Business at Frost on a full scholarship. During her time at Frost, Paola interned at various music studios and publishing companies such as Emilio and Gloria Estefan's Crescent Moon Studios, George Noriega's Cutting Cane Studios, and Peermusic under the mentorship of Julio Bague where she took her first steps in the Latin music industry. In August 2018, Paola was awarded the annual Peermusic Latin Scholarship for her original composition "Lluvia." Two years later she won her first Latin GRAMMY® as a songwriter on the track "Ticket de Salida" included on Chiquis Rivera's album "Playlist," which was recognized by the academy as "Best Banda Album" of the year. Shortly after graduating college, she began working at RichMusic as a Label Manager and has now made the transition from employee to signed artist. Last week she released her first single, "pal sex," a track produced by visionary hitmaker Dímelo Flow, along with BK and Mizu, which she co-wrote with Toy Wapo. Symon Dice: Growing up in Medellin, Colombia, Symon was exposed to the music industry at an early age. His mother was an event and concert producer, while his father was a guitarist and music producer. Initially a self taught guitarist and piano player, he later developed his musical skills professionally and took every opportunity to display his talent, winning "Battle of the Bands" tours around Colombia. He is completely dedicated to his craft and as a producer, his creative process starts with a chord progression that evolves into complex stories and rhythmic beats. After spending over a year touring with Tony Dize, Symon was discovered by RichMusic in New York before eventually reconnecting and joining their lineup of all-star producers. Symon has collaborated with some of the best artists in the industry, co-producing platinum hits alongside RichMusic's own hit-maker Dímelo Flow, including Farruko's "Inolvidable," Justin Quiles, Zion and Lennox's "No Quiero Amarte," and Natti Natasha's "Me Gusta." He has also worked on albums with other RichMusic artists like Dalex and Sech. When Symon is not making music, he spends his time up in the clouds as a commercial pilot. But for now, Symon is staying on firm ground and will continue to put his impressive musical talents to work by putting his own stamp on RichMusic's much anticipated album "Always Dream '' set to release early next year. Thyago: Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Thyago began his musical career playing his first notes on the guitar at just 14-years-old. He rose to Internet stardom after he began sharing videos showcasing his raw vocal talent and soon the invitations were pouring in to perform on stages across Argentina. His massive online following helped him secure a variety of televised musical shows and performances, including one with recognized Argentinian Rapper Lit Killah, who became his mentor and a significant figure in his career. Known for his penchant for ballads and romantic songs, Thyago's early musical inspirations came from David Bisbal and Sin Bandera, but he's also recently been influenced by the Latin urban sound that RichMusic has become known for with artists like Sech and Dalex. This combination is sure to inspire interesting fusions between ballads and reggaeton in his music. His melodic voice and the smooth rhythm of his tracks will certainly differentiate him from other artists in the urban genre. Thyago has always composed his own songs with the support of great collaborators. His well-received first single "XOXO" dropped last month, and has already proved that audiences want to hear more. Thyago is already hard at work with RichMusic to release new music this month and is bound to continue evolving and showcasing his versatility as an artist with each new song he puts out.

Luis "Vomba" Marquez: Professionally known as Vomba, the Venezuelan photographer has worked collaboratively with RichMusic for many years but has signed on as their official visual content manager. While working with the label, Vomba has photographed several album covers for artists on RichMusic's roster and has also worked with artists such as Danny Ocean, Sebastian Yatra and Corina Smith. During his career, Vomba has photographed some of the most successful celebrities and artists in the industry including Bad Bunny, David Beckham, Tyga and for fashion brands like Off-White. He's also had the opportunity to flex his skills in directing, acting as director for several music videos. He is set to launch a new project in the coming weeks called ''Vombshell,'' which showcases exclusive content, photos, special merchandise drops and collaborations with different artists.

In addition, both Thyago and paopao are among the 150 creators selected to participate in the first-ever TikTok Latinx Creatives accelerator program. A project meant to inspire and entertain TikToks's global community of 1 billion monthly active users, which is partially spearheaded by Emmy-nominated director, producer, actress, activist and entrepreneur Eva Longoria and her production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment.

Newlin explained, "Our healthcare workers and first responding medical teams placed their lives in grave danger this year. The City of Miami Gardens has announced Jazz in the Gardens (JITG), its popular 2-day jazz and R&B music festival, will return in March 2022 to the world-class Hard Rock Stadium. In 2020 the City was forced to cancel the festival just days before its scheduled dates to protect its attendees against the COVID-19 virus. The festival will not occur in 2021 as a result of the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.

"We are disappointed about the cancellation of the 15th anniversary of the festival, however, safety remains the highest priority for the City of Miami Gardens. It is prudent for us to get COVID-19 under control in order to plan a safe and successful staging of Jazz in the Gardens for everyone to enjoy. There's an angelic and sultry voice about to seduce music lovers into feeling a bit delirious after hearing it and it belongs to blonde-haired beauty, Samantka.

The Chicago native is releasing her hot new single and naming it after the City she now calls home, "Miami." Teaming up with fellow Floridian-based rapper, songwriter, and producer Andrez Babbii, the dynamic duo's reggaetón infused single lays the fresh and sultry voice of Samantka to rhythmic beats promising to drive many on their feet.

Samantka's freshman album features an array of sounds, as the singer doesn't favor just one particular genre of music. Her eclectic ear embraces an array of musical styles such as Classical Music, Foreign specifically Russian, German, and Latin, Hip-Hop, Indie, Grime, and Contemporary. She also acknowledges her talent for singing is a gift she discovered at an early age. Samantka's collaboration with Platinum recording artist Andrez Babbii can best be defined as paying it forward. The Ecuadorian-born, Miami raised Babbii first hit the music scene in 2018 when he joined forces with late rapper XXXTentación. Their first single spent seven weeks on the charts and secured over 300 million streams worldwide. Since then, Babbii has continued to release singles and freestyles amassing over 2 million views on his Youtube Channel and 2.5 million streams across all platforms.

Also putting his musical talents on the single Miami is the highly influential producer and writer, Fresh Kid Cue who was nominated for a Latin Grammy.

RockHouse Live International, an exciting new hybrid live & virtual entertainment-themed restaurant and venue concept by veteran entertainment execs Zach Bair and Jock Weaver, announced its inaugural location in the heart of the world-renowned Clearwater Beach, FL entertainment district.

Located at 207 Coronado Drive, just around the corner from the iconic Clearwater Beach Marina, RockHouse Live Clearwater is slated to open in February 2021.

The flagship location features new construction with extensive indoor and outdoor seating, an indoor/outdoor bar, air curtains, and more, and will feature nightly entertainment and live music, including local, regional and national artists. The venture is funded from outside local investors, a model which Bair and Weaver expect to replicate in other markets.

RockHouse Live Clearwater is expected to be open in time for Super Bowl LV, which is being held in neighboring Tampa on February 7th, and will have numerous flat screen TVs so fans can enjoy the game if they are not lucky enough to have a ticket.

Notably, the location will be the first to feature new integrated technology from VNUE, Inc. (OTC: VNUE), including Soundstr (www.soundstr.com), VNUE's groundbreaking "music recognition" platform, which helps to make sure songwriters and publishers are paid for music played in public spaces like RockHouse, and will help to reduce music licensing costs.

His acting interest began as short skits and transitioned into the full-length series Close Friends, which won best web series at the American Black Film Festival, and feature films that can be found in Walmart and Amazon. Applications are judged by esteemed discipline specific panels of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process. YoungArts 2021 award winners will be announced by the end of November 2020. Details regarding 2021 programming and mentors will be announced at a later date.

Jean Shin (1990 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts & U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts) said, “I strongly encourage all aspiring performing, visual and literary artists to apply to YoungArts. HOW TO APPLY

The YoungArts award competition is open to artists (1) between the ages of 15–18 or in high school grades 10–12 (as of December 1, 2020) (2) that are United States citizens or permanent residents and (3) that demonstrate excellence in Classical Music, Dance, Design Arts, Film, Jazz, Photography, Theater, Visual Arts, Voice or Writing.

YoungArts is proactively making it easier for artists to apply. The YoungArts application, as well as the process for requesting a fee waiver, has been simplified. Audition and portfolio requirements have been updated to accommodate young artists working from home or the virtual classroom.

The applications deadline is October 16, 2020 at 11:59 PM ET.

DESIGNATIONS & AWARDS

YoungArts awards are given in three categories: Finalist, Honorable Mention and Merit. YoungArts award winners and will have the chance to learn from notable artists and mentors such as Debbie Allen, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Frank Gehry, Wynton Marsalis, Salman Rushdie and Mickalene Thomas through an expanded program of online and in person programming. Award winners will also become eligible for additional exclusive creative and professional development support throughout their careers.

Finalists who are high school seniors are further eligible for nomination to the White House Commission on U.S. Presidential Scholars.

Award winners join a distinguished group of leading artists including Daniel Arsham, Terence Blanchard, Camille A. Brown, Viola Davis, Allegra Goodman, Josh Groban, Judith Hill, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Andrew Rannells, Desmond Richardson and Hunter Schafer.

Their upbringing is evident in their unparalleled styles of trap, R&B, pop, and Miami bass. Lynx and J Glory met by chance through a mutual friend in 2007 while working on individual projects.
