SAN DIEGO, CA / UNITED KINGDOM — October 2026 — Future Champions Golf (FCG) and the British Junior Golf Tour (BJGT) are excited to announce an expanded global partnership designed to create more opportunities for junior golfers to compete internationally, earn championship invitations, and pursue their dreams in golf.

Building on a successful collaboration spanning several years through the BJGT / FCG European Open Championship in Italy, the organizations are strengthening their relationship through new reciprocal championship pathways connecting players across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia.

The expanded partnership will provide new opportunities for junior golfers to qualify for prestigious international championships through their performances on the FCG and BJGT Tours, while also introducing additional college golf recruiting resources through Campus.

New International Championship Pathways

Through the expanded alliance, BJGT will host qualifying events for the 2027 FCG Callaway World Championship in Southern California, beginning with its final event of the 2026 season.

In return, FCG players will have new opportunities to qualify for two major European championships through the FCG Tour Points system.

2026 FCG Fall Season Points — World Junior Golf Championship in Spain

Top-performing players in the 2026 FCG Fall Season Points standings will earn invitations to compete in the Daily Mail World Junior Golf Championship, organised by BJGT in Spain, February 22–26, 2027.

BJGT has proposed a minimum of two invitations per boys’ and girls’ age division, with final allocations and selection criteria to be confirmed before the end of 2026.

2027 FCG Spring Season Points — BJGT / FCG European Open Championship in Italy

Top-performing players in the 2027 FCG Spring Season Points standings will earn invitations to compete in the BJGT / FCG European Open Championship in Italy, July 26–30, 2027, with final allocations and selection criteria to be confirmed before the end of June 2027.

The European Open will also welcome junior golfers from around the world through open registration, providing another outstanding opportunity for international competition.

These new pathways will reward consistent performance throughout the FCG season while giving junior golfers even more reasons to compete, improve, and pursue championship opportunities around the world.

With FCG’s rapidly expanding international network, both organizations are also exploring additional championship opportunities for players from China, elsewhere in Asia, and other participating countries.

SEVEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS ACROSS MEXICO

As part of the expanded partnership, the Mexican Golf Federation will host seven official qualifying tournaments across seven major regions of Mexico, providing junior golfers throughout the country with opportunities to earn exemptions into the prestigious 2027 FCG Callaway World Championship in Southern California.

Top finishers at each qualifying event will earn exemptions into the championship, creating a nationwide competitive pathway for Mexican junior golfers.

At the 2026 FCG Callaway World Championship, a record 76 junior golfers from Mexico competed against an international field of 752 players representing 42 countries.

For 2027, FCG and the Mexican Golf Federation have established an exciting new goal:

MEXICO RETURNS TO THE THREE NATIONS CUP IN FEBRUARY 2027

Mexico will once again compete against the United States and Canada in the second annual FCG Three Nations Cup in February 2027.

The international team competition brings together talented junior golfers from North America’s three nations in an exciting format built around national pride, teamwork, sportsmanship, and elite competition.

Following Mexico’s victory in the inaugural competition, Team Mexico will return with an opportunity to defend its title against strong teams from the United States and Canada.

“The Three Nations Cup has quickly become one of our most exciting international initiatives,” said Smeal. “There is something special about watching young golfers represent their countries and compete together as a team. Mexico’s success in the inaugural event showed just how strong junior golf has become throughout the country, and we cannot wait for the next chapter in February.”

TEAM MEXICO TO COMPETE IN INAUGURAL FCG GLOBAL GAMES

Another major highlight of the partnership will be Mexico’s participation in the inaugural FCG Global Games, July 26–29, 2027, at Industry Hills Golf Club in Southern California.

The Mexican Golf Federation will select and bring a 12-player national team to compete against junior golfers representing countries from around the world.

As I look ahead to 2027, which will mark my 25th year of coaching golf, I’ve been reflecting on the experiences, people, and opportunities that have shaped my journey.

When I think about how I coach today, I realize that my philosophy has been influenced by so many different experiences. Some came from my own playing career. Others came from incredible teachers, mentors, and players I was fortunate to spend time with. And many of the most important lessons have come from the thousands of hours I’ve spent on the lesson tee, on the golf course, and traveling with competitive players.

I’ve been fortunate to work with golfers at every level of the game, from complete beginners to junior champions, college players, elite amateurs, professional golfers, and an LPGA Hall of Famer.

But the journey to becoming the coach I am today started long before I ever gave my first golf lesson.

I wanted to share some of that journey, recognize some of the incredible people who helped me along the way, and explain how these experiences continue to influence the way I coach.

Where It All Started: Family, Baseball, and Falling in Love With Golf

I was introduced to golf around the age of 10 by my dad and grandfathers.

At the time, baseball was my main sport. I loved competing and being involved in athletics, but golf eventually became something I couldn’t get enough of.

At 15, I began taking the game seriously.

By 17, I had become a scratch golfer, and by 18, I had earned a college golf scholarship to San Diego State University.

During those years, I was completely dedicated to improving. In fact, I didn’t miss a single day of golf practice for four consecutive years.

I loved being at the golf course. I loved working on my game, experimenting with different shots, playing against better players, and seeing how good I could become.

Looking back, those years established a belief that remains central to my coaching philosophy:

The players who become great are often the ones who truly love the process of getting better.

There is no substitute for consistent effort, curiosity, and a genuine passion for the game.

John Darling: The Impact of Having a Great Coach

From approximately ages 16 to 19, I had the opportunity to work with award-winning golf instructor John Darling.

Having an outstanding teacher during such an important stage of my development was a tremendous advantage.

John helped me develop my understanding of the golf swing, practice, and the process of becoming a competitive player.

But perhaps just as importantly, he showed me the value of having someone who believes in your potential and is committed to helping you improve.

As a coach today, I understand how meaningful that relationship can be.

A great instructor doesn’t just provide information. A great instructor helps a player develop confidence, direction, and a belief in what is possible.

Learning From Exceptional Players: Keith Sbarbaro and Becky Lucidi

One of the greatest advantages I had as a developing golfer was being surrounded by outstanding players.

I was fortunate to practice with Keith Sbarbaro, who played at Arizona State University and was ranked just behind Phil Mickelson during their college years.

Spending time around a player of that caliber was an incredible learning experience.

You see the standards required to play at an elite level. You see how great players practice, how they approach different shots, and how they carry themselves.

I also had the opportunity to spend time around Becky Lucidi, a U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion.

Being exposed to championship-level players helped me understand that there are many different ways to play great golf.

These experiences were invaluable because they gave me a firsthand look at what excellence looks like.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that your environment matters.

Surround yourself with people who challenge you, inspire you, and demonstrate the habits necessary to succeed.

This is something I encourage all my students to do.

My College Golf Experience: Turning Disappointment Into an Advantage

Earning a scholarship to San Diego State was a major achievement for me.

Unfortunately, my college golf experience didn’t go the way I had envisioned.

I made mistakes, didn’t handle everything as well as I should have, and ultimately didn’t accomplish what I had hoped to accomplish as a college player.

For years, that was a disappointing part of my story.

Today, I consider it one of the most valuable experiences I can share with young golfers.

I understand firsthand that being a successful junior golfer and being prepared for college golf are two different things.

College golf requires independence, maturity, discipline, accountability, and the ability to manage challenges both on and off the course.

When I work with young players who have aspirations of playing college golf, I can share what I learned from my own mistakes.

I want them to be better prepared than I was.

Sometimes our biggest disappointments become our most valuable teaching experiences.

That has certainly been true for me.

Learning From Some of the Best Minds in Golf

As my interest in teaching grew, I made it a priority to learn from great instructors and seek out different perspectives on the game.

I never wanted to limit my knowledge to one teaching philosophy or one way of looking at the golf swing.

Carl Welty at PGA West

One of the influential instructors I had the opportunity to learn from was Carl Welty at PGA West.

Being around experienced teachers and seeing how they approached instruction helped expand my understanding of the game.

Every great teacher has a way of communicating information, identifying problems, and helping players improve.

Those experiences helped me begin developing my own approach.

Learning From Jim Flick

I also had the opportunity to attend seminars with legendary golf instructor Jim Flick.

Jim was one of the most respected teachers in golf, and being exposed to his knowledge and teaching philosophy was extremely valuable.

I learned that great instruction is not simply about knowing the golf swing.

It’s about understanding how to communicate, how players learn, and how to make complicated ideas easier to understand.

That remains one of my goals every time I teach.

The Butch Harmon Academy

Another important experience was attending a full-day golf school at the Butch Harmon Academy.

Being exposed to the teaching environment and instructional approach associated with one of golf’s most accomplished coaches was another opportunity to expand my knowledge.

What I’ve always appreciated about learning from different teachers is that you begin to recognize that there isn’t just one way to help someone improve.

The challenge is finding the right information and the right approach for the individual player.

Derek Uyeda: Lessons, Friendship, and Learning at the Highest Level

Another important person in my coaching journey has been Derek Uyeda.

Through lessons, friendship, and time spent together around the game, Derek has been a valuable influence on my development as a coach.

I also had the opportunity to film at PGA Tour events, providing a close-up look at some of the best players in the world.

Being able to observe elite professional golfers in person is an incredible educational experience.

You notice details that aren’t always obvious when watching on television.

You see how players prepare, how they practice, how they move, and how they approach their games.

Those experiences reinforced something I continue to believe:

If you want to become a better coach, you have to remain a student of the game.

There is always something new to observe, study, and learn.

2002: The Beginning of My Coaching Career at Stadium Golf Center

In 2002, I began my coaching career at Stadium Golf Center in San Diego.

That was where my passion for teaching really began to grow.

I started working with beginners and junior golfers, developing programs and learning how to communicate with players of different ages and abilities.

One of the most rewarding early accomplishments was growing a beginner junior golf class into a program with more than 100 kids participating each week.

That experience taught me so much about coaching.

When you’re teaching beginners, you quickly learn that instruction needs to be clear, engaging, and fun.

You have to understand how to connect with people.

You have to recognize that every student learns differently.

And you have to create an environment where players want to return and continue improving.

Those early years at Stadium Golf Center helped establish the foundation for everything I would build afterward.

I still believe that some of the most important work a golf coach can do is introduce someone to the game in a way that makes them fall in love with it.

2004: Building Future Champions Golf

In 2004, I launched the Future Champions Golf Academy.

My vision was to create an environment where junior golfers could learn the game, develop their skills, compete, and pursue their dreams.

Over time, that vision expanded into the Future Champions Golf Tour.

What began in San Diego has grown into an international junior golf platform, creating competitive opportunities for players from around the world.

Through FCG, I’ve been fortunate to see thousands of young players develop.

Some became outstanding high school golfers. Some earned college scholarships. Others went on to win major amateur championships and pursue professional careers.

But I’ve also learned just as much from the players who struggled.

I’ve seen talented juniors lose confidence.

I’ve seen players become too focused on rankings and results.

I’ve seen young golfers develop later than their peers and eventually surpass players who were much more accomplished at younger ages.

These experiences have reinforced my belief that player development is a long-term process, and no two players follow the same path.

It’s one of the reasons I believe so strongly in creating opportunities for players at every stage of development.

Coaching and Caddying at Major Championships

One of the most valuable parts of my coaching career has been the opportunity to travel with players and work with them in major competitions.

There is a tremendous difference between giving a golf lesson on the driving range and helping a player prepare for and compete in an important championship.

I’ve had the opportunity to coach and caddie at major amateur events, including the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship at Riviera Country Club, where a player I worked with finished tied for eighth.

Experiences like that have been incredibly important to my development as a coach.

When you’re alongside a player in championship competition, you gain a deeper understanding of what really matters.

You see how players react to pressure.

You see how quickly momentum can change.

You learn the importance of course management, decision-making, emotional control, preparation, and trust.

You also learn that a player doesn’t need a perfect golf swing to shoot a great score.

At the highest levels of competition, the ability to manage your game and yourself can be just as important as your technical skills.

Golf instruction and competitive player development are not the same thing. Great coaching requires understanding both.

Helping Players Reach the Next Level

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 230 junior golfers earn college golf scholarship opportunities.

I’ve also coached players who have achieved some remarkable accomplishments, including:

• The 2020 California State Amateur Champion
• The 2022 California State Open Champion
• The 2023 California Girls State Champion

I’m proud of these accomplishments, but I’m even more proud of the work and development that went into them.

Every successful player has a different story.

Some needed major improvements in their technique.

Some needed better practice habits.

Others needed to become more confident competitors or learn how to manage themselves under pressure.

Working with so many different players has taught me that great coaching requires flexibility.

I don’t believe every player should swing the club the same way.

I don’t believe every player should practice the same way.

And I certainly don’t believe every player should follow the same development timeline.

My job is to understand each player’s strengths, identify what is holding them back, and help them develop the skills needed to reach their goals.

Coaching LPGA Hall of Famer Sandra Palmer

One of the greatest honors of my coaching career has been becoming the personal golf coach to LPGA Hall of Famer Sandra Palmer.

Sandra has accomplished extraordinary things in golf, including winning two major championships and 19 LPGA Tour titles.

Working with someone who has competed and won at the highest level of professional golf is an incredible experience.

What makes it especially meaningful is the opportunity to work with someone who has such a deep understanding of the game.

Sandra has experienced things in competitive golf that very few people ever will.

And yet, there is still a desire to learn, work on her game, and improve.

That is something I deeply respect.

Coaching Sandra has reinforced the importance of listening, communicating, and understanding what makes each player successful.

At that level, coaching isn’t about forcing someone into a particular model.

It’s about helping them maximize their strengths, maintain confidence, and perform at their best.

It’s also another reminder that the learning process never ends, whether you’re a beginner, a competitive junior, a professional, or a Hall of Famer.

The Biggest Lessons I’ve Learned From Nearly 25 Years of Coaching

When I think about all the people who have influenced me and all the players I’ve worked with, several important beliefs stand out.

1. Great players love getting better.

The best players usually have an internal drive to improve. They enjoy practicing, learning, and challenging themselves.

2. Your environment matters.

Being around great players, coaches, and mentors can accelerate your development and change what you believe is possible.

3. There is no single blueprint for success.

Every golfer is different. Great coaching requires understanding the individual rather than forcing everyone into the same system.

4. Learning how to compete is essential.

A beautiful golf swing doesn’t guarantee low scores. Players must develop course management, mental toughness, decision-making, and scoring skills.

5. Failure can be one of our greatest teachers.

My own college golf experience taught me lessons that I continue sharing with players today.

6. Confidence and enjoyment are incredibly important.

Players improve more when they believe in themselves, enjoy the process, and feel supported.

7. Coaches should never stop learning.

Some of my greatest lessons have come from other instructors, fellow professionals, and the players I’ve coached.

My Coaching Philosophy Today

After all these years, my coaching philosophy continues to evolve, but the foundation is clear.

Develop the person. Develop the player. Build skills that last.

I want my students to understand their own golf games.

I want them to learn how to practice with purpose.

I want them to become better competitors, not just better ball strikers.

I want them to develop confidence, resilience, discipline, and the ability to think for themselves on the golf course.

And I want them to enjoy the journey.

I believe the role of a coach is much bigger than teaching someone how to swing a golf club.

A great coach can help shape a young person’s work ethic, confidence, attitude, and approach to challenges.

Those lessons can last a lifetime.

Looking Ahead to My 25th Year of Coaching

As I approach 25 years as a golf coach in 2027, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey.

I’m grateful to my dad and grandfathers for introducing me to golf.

I’m grateful to John Darling for helping guide my development as a young player.

I’m grateful for the opportunities to learn from outstanding players like Keith Sbarbaro and Becky Lucidi, and from respected instructors including Carl Welty, Jim Flick, and the teaching environment at the Butch Harmon Academy.

I’m grateful for the friendship and knowledge shared by Derek Uyeda, and for the many other coaches, players, and friends who have influenced my journey.

I’m grateful for the families who trusted me with their children, the players who committed to the process, and the countless relationships that have developed through golf.

And I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue learning from the game through experiences like coaching Sandra Palmer.

When I was 15 years old, I was obsessed with becoming a better golfer.

Today, that same passion is focused on becoming a better coach and helping others achieve their potential.

I’m still learning. I’m still studying. I’m still looking for better ways to help players improve.

And I’m just as excited about coaching today as I was when I first started at Stadium Golf Center in 2002.

The greatest reward of coaching isn’t simply helping someone win a championship. It’s helping someone discover what they’re capable of achieving.

That’s what continues to motivate me.

The FCG–AR Junior World Cup Invitational at Reunion presents an exclusive opportunity for elite junior golfers from around the world to compete in a premier international championship at world-class golf courses in the United States.

Beginning in 2026, Future Champions Golf (FCG) has partnered with AR Consulting and now 2027 with Next Level Golf USA to expand the Junior World Cup Invitational into a premier international championship bringing together top junior golfers from Asia, the United States, and countries around the world.

The championship features 54 holes of stroke-play competition in a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and Junior Golf Scoreboard (JGS) ranked event, providing valuable opportunities for international competition, ranking, exposure, and college preparation.

INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Future Champions Golf (FCG), in partnership with Super Lychee Golf Series (SLGS), is excited to welcome junior golfers from around the world to the 2026 SLGS FCG Asia International Championship at Mission Hills Haikou Golf Club, Course No. 2, in Haikou, China.

This international championship brings together talented junior golfers ages 7–18 for a competitive championship experience, international ranking opportunities, and a direct pathway to one of the world’s leading junior golf championships — the 2027 FCG Callaway World Championship in the United States.

Championship Highlights

• International field of up to 120 junior golfers
• Open to boys and girls ages 7–18 from all countries

Tournament Organizer: Super Lychee (Shanghai) Sports & Culture Development Co., Ltd.

International Partner: Future Champions Golf (FCG)

Maximum Field: 120 players, subject to adjustment by the Tournament Committee.

2. Eligibility and Age Divisions

The championship is open to boys and girls ages 7–18, regardless of nationality.

There are 10 individual divisions, five boys’ and five girls’ divisions.

3. Road to the 2027 FCG Callaway World Championship

Every division champion will receive a direct exemption into the 2027 FCG Callaway World Championship in the United States.

This includes the boys’ and girls’ champions in all five age categories.

The FCG Callaway World Championship welcomes outstanding junior golfers from around the world and provides an international championship experience.

This event is an official opportunity for players competing in Asia and other international regions to earn their place in the 2027 championship field.

4. Rankings and Recognition

The championship is associated with the following ranking systems:

• World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)
• Junior Golf Scoreboard (JGS), USA
• Super Lychee Golf Series Ranking
• FCG China Series Ranking

Important Ranking Information

WAGR eligibility depends on the applicable field size, number of completed holes, player status, scoring requirements, and official WAGR recognition.

For JGS, eligible players must be at least 10 years old, and the applicable division must satisfy minimum participation requirements.

Ranking points are not guaranteed to every player or division.

5. Field Selection and Entry Priority

The field is limited to approximately 120 players.

Priority for acceptance will be given to:

1. Division champions from 2026 FCG China Junior Series events.
2. Division champions from the 2025–2026 FCG Callaway Junior Championship China Qualifiers.
3. Division champions from the 2026 Super Lychee National Amateur Golf Hope Championship.
4. Players ranked in the 2026 Super Lychee Golf Series standings.
5. Players ranked in the top 1,000 of WAGR.
6. International players recommended for participation.

Within the applicable priority categories, entries will be processed according to the time of completed registration and payment.

The host golf club has two recommended entries, and the Tournament Committee has eight recommended entries.

Final acceptance is determined by the Tournament Committee.

6. Championship Format

The championship will be conducted as an individual stroke-play competition under the Rules of Golf and the tournament’s official Local Rules.

54-Hole Divisions

Boys and Girls 11–12, 13–14, and 15–18 will compete over three rounds of 18 holes.

36-Hole Divisions

Boys and Girls 7–8 and 9–10 will compete over two rounds of 18 holes.

Maximum Hole Scores

• Ages 11–18: No maximum score per hole.
• Ages 7–10: Maximum score of double par on each hole.

Playoffs and Ties

Ties for first place in any division will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff.

Other ties will be resolved by comparing the final-round score, then the final nine holes, then individual holes working backward from the 18th, and finally by drawing lots if necessary.

7. Tournament Tees

Tee assignments are subject to the Tournament Committee’s final competition conditions.

8. Championship Awards

Awards will be presented to the top six finishers in every boys’ and girls’ division.

All participating golfers receive a participation certificate.

13. Caddies and Golf Carts

Golf Carts

Players are permitted to ride in golf carts during the championship.

Caddies

Golf club caddies are assigned randomly. Players may not request a particular club caddie.

Personal caddies are permitted, subject to eligibility and approval.

• Personal caddies are limited to 30% of the total field.
• Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Applications close December 16 at 6:00 PM.
• Personal caddies must meet the Tournament Committee’s professional, coaching, officiating, athlete, or caddie qualification requirements.
• Host-club employees may not be engaged as personal caddies.

Recommended Caddie Gratuities

• Single bag: Minimum RMB 200 per player per 18 holes.
• Double bag: Minimum RMB 150 per player per 18 holes.

14. Equipment and Tournament Policies

Distance-Measuring Devices

Traditional distance-measuring devices are permitted for measuring distance only.

Slope measurement and other prohibited features must not be used.

Tournament Apparel

If the Tournament Committee supplies tournament apparel and a cap, players are required to wear them during the final round.

Players with existing apparel endorsement agreements may request an exemption in advance, subject to approval.

Scorecards

Players must return their scorecards to the official scoring area and sign to confirm their scores.

15. Withdrawal and Refund Policy

• Before the accepted player list is published: 100% refund.
• After publication, but more than three days before the first competition round: 50% refund.
• Within three days of the first competition round: No refund.
• Withdrawal during competition or disqualification: No refund.

All cancellation requests must be submitted to the Tournament Committee.

16. Weather and Tournament Adjustments

The Tournament Committee will make every reasonable effort to complete the championship as scheduled.

If severe weather prevents play, rounds may be suspended, resumed, shortened, or cancelled according to the official competition regulations.

If at least one round cannot be completed, the championship may be cancelled without awards.

The Tournament Committee retains final authority over scheduling and competition decisions.

17. Official Rules and Tournament Authority

The championship will be conducted under the current Rules of Golf as jointly issued by The R&A and USGA, together with applicable China Golf Association requirements, Local Rules, and supplementary conditions established by the Tournament Committee.

Referees will be appointed by the Tournament Committee.

The Super Lychee Organizing Committee retains final authority for interpretation of the official tournament regulations.

Demetrio Lee — The Road Warrior With a Heart of Gold

From the moment we left Chicago, Demetrio and his Elegance Limousines team treated us like family. Not clients. Not passengers. Family.

He didn’t just get us from point A to point B — he got us there safely, smoothly, and with a level of care that made every mile feel lighter. His staff handled every curveball, every schedule change, every emotional moment with grace. When you’re traveling with children battling brain tumors, safety isn’t a luxury — it’s everything. And Demetrio understood that instinctively.

But what struck me most wasn’t the professionalism. It was the heart.

Demetrio leaned in. He listened to the families. He hugged the kids. He became part of the FOJ mission as if he had been with us for years. He didn’t have to do any of it. But he did — because compassion doesn’t need a job description.

Ron Patel — A President Who Leads With Heart

When we arrived in New Mexico, Ron Patel rolled out the red carpet — not for celebrities, not for cameras, but for two FOJ adoptees: seven‑year‑old Sebastian, who is bravely fighting a rare cancer, and his younger brother Santiago.

Ron didn’t just welcome them. He didn’t just honor them. He didn’t just celebrate them.

He signed both boys to contracts for LIFE with New Mexico United.

Let that sink in.

No other president has ever done that.

Ron understood that these children weren’t looking for pity — they were looking for belonging. For identity. For joy. For a team to call their own. And he gave them that in a way that was permanent, meaningful, and unforgettable.

He showed the world that leadership isn’t measured in wins and losses. It’s measured in humanity.

Two Men, One Message: Anyone Can Be a NEDvocate

Ron and Demetrio are proof that you don’t need to be a doctor, a researcher, or a professional athlete to make a difference. You don’t need a medical degree or a scientific breakthrough. You just need a heart that’s willing to show up.

A NEDvocate can come from any sport, any business, any lifestyle, any background. All it takes is the courage to say, “I’m here. I care. I want to help.”

These two men didn’t just support FOJ — they elevated our mission. They made the journey safer, richer, and more meaningful. They reminded us that kindness is contagious, compassion is powerful, and love is the greatest force we have in the fight against pediatric brain tumors.

Dear FCG Families, Players, Coaches, and Friends,

As we prepare to launch our 2027 Future Champions Golf Tour season and membership program, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for our organization and, most importantly, to say THANK YOU!

When I started Future Champions Golf back in 2004, I had a vision of creating something special for junior golfers. I wanted to build a program that would give young players opportunities to compete, improve, build confidence, make friendships, and ultimately help them reach their dreams through the game of golf.

More than 22 years later, that vision continues to grow in ways I could have only imagined.

Today, FCG has become a global community connecting thousands of junior golfers and families through competition, education, player development, and opportunities that extend well beyond the golf course.

And while our tournaments, championships, and international partnerships continue to grow, one thing has never changed:

Our commitment to helping every junior golfer become the best player and person they can be.

2026 — A Year of Incredible Growth and Milestones

This year has been one of the most exciting chapters in FCG history!

Our tournament platform continued to expand with more than 150 events throughout the United States and approximately 75 international qualifying opportunities, bringing together junior golfers from around the world.

Our 2026 FCG Callaway World Championship reached new heights, welcoming 752 players representing 42 countries to Southern California. Watching young golfers from different cultures, backgrounds, and countries compete together, support one another, and create lifelong memories was truly special.

Our FCG International Junior Golf Championship continued to showcase outstanding talent, while our National Tour, World Series, Kids Tour, and Collegiate Series provided opportunities for players at every stage of their competitive journey.

We also continued to strengthen the pathways available to our players, with exemptions and opportunities into elite amateur championships, collegiate competition, and professional golf events.

Seeing former FCG players competing successfully in college golf and at the professional level is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

These opportunities are a reminder that the experiences our players have today can help shape their futures tomorrow.

Creating Pathways to Elite Amateur and Professional Golf

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of in 2026 is the significant expansion of competitive opportunities we have created for FCG players.

For years, our mission has been to provide junior golfers with the strongest possible competitive experiences while helping them prepare for college golf and beyond. This year, we took another major step forward by securing direct exemptions into some of the most respected amateur and professional golf championships.

Through our growing relationships with tournament organizations around the world, FCG champions have earned or will have opportunities to earn exemptions into professional events on the Swiss PGA Tour, Annika Women’s All Pro Tour, and Singapore Ladies Masters, along with pathways connected to the DP World Tour.

We have also expanded our championship exemptions into prestigious amateur events, including the Terra Cotta Invitational, Trans-Miss Championship, Rice Planters Amateur, International Amateur Championship, California State Fair Championship, Memorial Amateur Championship, Porter Cup, and Elite Invitational.

These opportunities are being awarded through select FCG championships, including our FCG Callaway World Championship, FCG International, FCG National Championship, Western States Cup, Las Vegas Championship, and other major events.

Another exciting milestone was having both the FCG International Junior Golf Championship and FCG Callaway World Championship recognized on AmateurGolf.com’s Majors of Junior Golf schedule, further strengthening their standing among the leading junior golf championships.

As we move into 2027, our goal is to continue expanding these relationships and creating even more meaningful opportunities for our players.

Think about what this means for a young golfer. A player can begin competing on our Kids Tour, progress through our National Tour and World Series, earn opportunities at our major championships, and potentially compete in prestigious amateur or professional events while still developing as a junior golfer.

That is the pathway we are building.

We want every FCG family to know that the tournaments their children compete in are part of something much bigger.

We are not simply creating opportunities to win trophies. We are working to open doors, create experiences, and provide pathways that can help shape a player’s future.

And we are just getting started!

Building a Truly Global Junior Golf Community

One of the most exciting developments in 2026 has been the expansion of our international relationships.

FCG is now working with outstanding junior golf organizations and leaders across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Our goal is to create a connected global pathway where a junior golfer can compete in their home country, qualify for an FCG championship, gain international experience, and pursue opportunities in college golf and beyond.

We believe golf is one of the greatest sports in the world for bringing people together.

And we are committed to making FCG a place where young golfers from everywhere feel welcome, supported, and inspired.

New Technology, College Recruiting, and Player Development

In 2026, we also took major steps forward in providing our families with resources that go far beyond tournament competition.

The launch of Campus, our college golf recruiting platform, represents an exciting new opportunity for junior golfers to build their profiles, showcase their skills, research college programs, and begin connecting with college coaches.

We know that navigating the college recruiting process can be challenging. Our goal is to help families become more informed, better prepared, and more confident as they pursue their college golf dreams.

Our relationship with Upgame by Trackman has also introduced enhanced performance tracking and statistics, helping players better understand their games and identify opportunities for improvement.

In addition, our partnership with Babygrande Golf has brought professional livestream coverage to our major championships, giving players greater exposure and allowing families, friends, and coaches around the world to follow the action.

These are important pieces of our long-term vision.

We don’t just want to provide a place to compete. We want to provide the tools, education, exposure, and opportunities to help players succeed.

Looking Ahead to 2027 — Our Biggest Vision Yet!

As exciting as 2026 has been, I believe 2027 has the potential to be even more special.

We are working hard to elevate every part of the FCG experience, from our local and regional tournaments to our largest international championships.

Our goals for the upcoming season include:

• Expanding our National Tour, World Series, Kids Tour, and Collegiate Series with outstanding competitive venues and experiences.
• Continuing to grow our international qualifying network and welcoming even more countries to our major championships.
• Building toward our goal of 900 players from more than 50 countries at the 2027 FCG World Championship.
• Developing the FCG Global Golf Games, bringing junior golfers together to represent their countries in an exciting international team championship.
• Continuing to expand our direct exemptions into prestigious amateur and professional championships, creating one of the strongest competitive pathways available to junior golfers anywhere in the world.

As we move into October and the heart of the fall golf season, I think this is a great time to talk about one of the subjects I get asked about more than almost anything else:

How do I start the college golf recruiting process?

For a lot of junior golfers and parents, recruiting can feel overwhelming. There are hundreds of college golf programs, different divisions, different levels of play, academic requirements, tournament schedules, coaches to contact and a lot of information coming from different directions.

But the process does not need to be complicated.

The biggest thing I tell players is this:

Start early, get organized, be realistic about your current level and keep improving.

And today, players have tools available that make this process much easier than it was when I first started coaching junior golfers.

One of those tools is Campus, and I believe every junior golfer who has aspirations of playing college golf should start building their recruiting presence now.

Step 1: Build Your College Golf Profile

Before you start emailing dozens of coaches, you need somewhere to send them.

Your recruiting profile should become your golf resume.

That means having your basic information, graduation year, tournament results, scoring information, academics, swing video and other important information all organized in one place.

This is one of the reasons we built Campus.

Instead of having your scores in one place, videos somewhere else and academic information in another document, your Campus profile can become the central location for your recruiting journey.

And you don’t have to wait until you’re a great player to build it.

Step 2: Start Researching Colleges

One of the biggest mistakes I see junior golfers make is focusing on only a handful of famous Division I programs.

There are tremendous opportunities throughout college golf.

Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs can all provide incredible experiences.

Start looking at schools based on more than golf.

Ask yourself:

• What do I want to study?
• Do I want a large school or a smaller school?
• What part of the country would I enjoy living in?
• What level of golf am I currently capable of playing?
• What level could I realistically reach over the next few years?
• Would I be happy at this school if golf disappeared tomorrow?

That last question is important.

You are choosing a college, not just a golf team.

Campus can help players research programs, save schools they’re interested in and begin building a list that makes sense for them.

Step 3: Understand Where Your Golf Game Fits

This can sometimes be the hardest part of recruiting.

Players naturally want to play at the highest level possible, but recruiting becomes much easier when you understand how your tournament scores compare with the players already competing for the programs you’re interested in.

Look at college tournament results.

Look at the scores being posted by the fourth and fifth players on the roster — not just the No. 1 player.

Then ask yourself:

Could my game compete here today?

If not, that’s okay.

Now you have a target.

Maybe you’re a freshman or sophomore and have several years to develop. Your list of schools today does not have to be your list two years from now.

Your game will change.

Your scores will change.

Your goals may change.

Your recruiting profile should evolve with you.

Step 4: Play a Tournament Schedule That Helps Coaches Evaluate You

College coaches want to see tournament golf.

They want to see how you perform over multiple rounds, against strong competition, on different golf courses and under pressure.

You don’t have to play every tournament available.

You need to build a schedule that gives you opportunities to develop and gives coaches meaningful results to evaluate.

At Future Champions Golf, one of our major goals has always been to create pathways for junior golfers to compete, develop and ultimately move on to college golf.

As you improve, challenge yourself with stronger fields, longer golf courses and multi-day events.

Your tournament schedule should tell the story of a player who is progressing.

Step 5: Start Communicating With Coaches

Don’t wait around hoping a college coach discovers you.

Be proactive.

Introduce yourself. Tell the coach why you’re interested in the school. Share your Campus profile. Send your upcoming tournament schedule. Update coaches when you have a strong result or meaningful improvement.

And make the communication personal.

A coach can tell when the same generic email was sent to 100 programs.

Learn something about the school and golf program before you contact them.

Most importantly, as you get older, the player should increasingly own the process.

College coaches are recruiting the player — not the parent.

Step 6: Don’t Forget Academics

Golf is only one part of college recruiting.

Your grades matter.

Your course selection matters.

Your eligibility matters.

And strong academics can dramatically increase the number of opportunities available to you.

Take school seriously from the beginning of high school. Don’t wait until junior or senior year to start thinking about your GPA.

Players interested in NCAA programs should also understand the NCAA Eligibility Center and the eligibility requirements that apply to them.

What Should You Be Doing Right Now?

Freshmen

Start building your Campus profile. Focus heavily on developing your game and establishing good academic habits. Begin exploring different types of colleges without worrying about creating a final school list.

Sophomores

Update your profile regularly. Start researching programs more seriously. Compare your tournament results with college players and begin identifying schools that could potentially fit your academic and athletic goals.

Juniors

Your recruiting process should be very active. Keep your tournament schedule, results, video and academic information current. Build a targeted list of schools and communicate consistently with coaches while following the recruiting rules applicable to your situation.

Seniors

Stay proactive. Rosters and opportunities can change. Continue communicating, competing and expanding your search when necessary. Don’t assume there are no opportunities simply because you haven’t committed yet.

One Final Piece of Advice

After coaching junior golfers for more than 20 years and watching hundreds of players move on to college golf, I can tell you that there isn’t one perfect recruiting path.

Every player’s journey is different.

Some players develop early.

Some develop late.

Some know exactly where they want to go.

Others discover a school during the recruiting process that they had never previously considered.

Don’t spend all your time worrying about who has contacted you or where another player has committed.

Focus on becoming a better golfer, a better student and a better communicator.

Build your profile.

Research your opportunities.

Compete.

Communicate.

Keep improving.

And enjoy the process.

There are a lot of opportunities in college golf, and the players who prepare themselves, stay proactive and keep improving give themselves the best chance to find the right one.

So nice to meet you! First off, what’s your name? Tell our readers a bit about yourself: where you’re from originally and where you live now.

Chris Smeal, originally from Poway, CA, and I actually live back here in Poway now, since 2011.

Tell us one thing you love about where you live now.

I love being close to family and the Poway community, and being able to get to all parts of San Diego County rather quickly.

Tell us a little more about what your company does and how it started. How does it help your customers?

Future Champions Golf started over 20 years ago with a simple goal: to create more opportunities for junior golfers to compete, improve their games, and pursue their dreams. As a PGA Professional and golf coach, I saw firsthand how important tournament experience was for young players and wanted to build something that would help them develop and reach their potential.

What started as a small junior golf tournament program in San Diego has grown into a worldwide junior golf organization. Today, we operate more than 200 tournaments annually, including our FCG Callaway World Championship, which brings together hundreds of talented junior golfers from more than 40 countries. We offer everything from local events for kids playing in their very first tournament to elite international championships where players compete in front of college coaches and earn opportunities to advance in the game.

What makes FCG special is that we’re focused on the entire journey of a junior golfer. We want to help families navigate the process, whether that’s getting started in competitive golf, building a tournament schedule, improving their skills, or pursuing a college golf scholarship. We’ve also launched Campus, our college recruiting platform, to help connect players with college coaches and make the recruiting process more accessible.

One of the most rewarding parts of building FCG has been watching kids grow up through our tournaments, go on to play college golf, and in some cases become successful professional golfers. We now have former players bringing their own kids into our programs, which is pretty incredible.

We’re continuing to expand around the world, building partnerships with golf organizations in different countries and creating new opportunities for players to compete internationally. At the end of the day, we’re much more than a tournament organization. We’re trying to build a community that helps young golfers develop, make lifelong friendships, and create opportunities through this amazing game.

If someone wants to start a business, what advice would you give them?

My biggest advice would be to find something you’re truly passionate about and just get started. Don’t wait until you have everything figured out or the perfect business plan. When I started Future Champions Golf, I had a vision of creating more opportunities for junior golfers, but I had no idea it would grow into what it is today. I just kept working hard, building relationships, trying new things, and learning as I went.

I think one of the most important things in business is to always look for ways to provide more value to your customers. Listen to what they need, pay attention to what’s working and what’s not, and never stop trying to improve. Don’t be afraid to take chances or make mistakes. Some of my biggest lessons have come from things that didn’t go exactly as planned.

Surround yourself with good people, build strong relationships, and think big. There will always be challenges, and building a business takes a tremendous amount of time and energy, but if you love what you’re doing, it makes the journey so much more rewarding.

Most importantly, enjoy the process. Don’t get so caught up in chasing the next big milestone that you forget to appreciate what you’re building along the way.

What is one piece of feedback from a happy customer or client that you won’t forget?

There have been many, but one of my favorites is always when a parent is worried about their child not succeeding, and then they do, and they do it far better than they even dreamed. It’s about empowering these kids to see they are capable of so much more.

Where do you see your company in the future?

I see Future Champions Golf becoming the premier junior golf platform in the world. We’ve spent more than 20 years building something special, and I truly believe we’re just getting started. Our goal is to continue expanding internationally, creating more opportunities for junior golfers to compete, develop their games, and pursue their dreams of playing college golf and beyond.

We’re already connecting players from more than 40 countries, and our vision is to build a global network of tournaments, academies, coaches, and partnerships that give young golfers a clear pathway from their first tournament all the way to the highest levels of the game.

With the growth of our World Championship, our new Global Golf Games, our college recruiting platform Campus, and our expanding international partnerships, I think the next five to ten years are going to be incredibly exciting.

One thing that will never change is why I started FCG in the first place. I love seeing young players succeed, watching them grow up through our tournaments, and hearing their stories years later. If we can continue creating those opportunities for thousands of kids around the world while building something that has a lasting impact on the game of golf, that’s what success looks like to me.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about junior golf is that it’s all about winning tournaments and getting college scholarships. While those are certainly important goals for many players, there is so much more to the journey.

Golf is an incredible game that teaches young people so many valuable life lessons. They learn how to handle adversity, manage their emotions, set goals, work hard, and compete with integrity. Some of the most successful stories I’ve seen over my 20-plus years in junior golf aren’t necessarily the players who won the most tournaments, but the ones who used golf to create opportunities for themselves and grew tremendously as people along the way.

I also think there’s a misconception that every junior golfer needs to follow the same path. Every player develops at a different pace, has different goals, and needs a different plan. That’s something I’ve always been passionate about with Future Champions Golf. We want to create opportunities for everyone, from kids playing their very first tournament to elite players competing on the world stage.

At the end of the day, our job is to help kids fall in love with the game, challenge themselves, and see just how far they can go.

What has been one of your biggest struggles building your business, and how did you deal with it?

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow the business while still maintaining the quality and personal touch that made Future Champions Golf successful in the first place. When I started FCG, I was doing just about everything myself, from running tournaments and coaching players to marketing, answering emails, and building relationships. As we grew, I had to learn that I couldn’t do everything myself and that building the right team was essential.

I’ve always been someone who has a lot of ideas and a big vision for what we can accomplish. The challenge has been learning how to turn those ideas into reality while managing the day-to-day operations of a growing business. I’ve dealt with that by surrounding myself with great people, learning from mistakes, and constantly looking for ways to improve.

I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you have to be willing to adapt and keep moving forward. There are always going to be challenges, things that don’t work out, and moments when you question your decisions. But if you truly believe in what you’re building, you find a way to figure things out. I’ve always tried to focus on the bigger picture and remember why I started FCG in the first place: to create opportunities for junior golfers and help them achieve their dreams.

Also, Covid was a huge challenge, but we navigated it brilliantly. We processed refunds for a whole month, then when golf courses opened, we were the first tour to start hosting events again, by almost a full month. We made them not look like tournaments, followed all safety precautions and, most importantly, let the kids play!

What was your favorite music artist and athlete growing up?

Tiger Woods was definitely my favorite athlete growing up. His impact on golf has been incredible, and I’ve always admired his competitiveness, work ethic, and ability to perform under pressure. As someone who has spent my career coaching young golfers, I think he’s a great example of what dedication and believing in yourself can accomplish.

As far as music goes, I’ve always enjoyed a wide variety of artists and genres, so I can’t say I’ve ever had just one favorite!

Yes, to our FCG Executive Director Antrone Williams, who does the best job coordinating the best tournaments in junior golf. He deserves the recognition for how hard he works and what an amazing job he does for everyone and the game of golf.
