EPFO Records 17.89 Lakh Net Members in Jan-25 Marking Gain of 11.67% on Year

The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has released provisional payroll data for January 2025, revealing a net addition of 17.89 lakh members.

Net payroll additions increased 11.48 per cent during the current month compared to December 2024. Further, the year-on-year analysis reveals a growth of 11.67 per cent in net payroll additions compared to January 2024, signifying increased employment opportunities and heightened awareness of employee benefits, bolstered by EPFO’s effective outreach initiatives.

EPFO enrolled around 8.23 lakh new subscribers in January 2025. The new subscribers’ addition shows year on year growth of 1.87 % from the previous year in January 2024.

A noticeable aspect of the data is the dominance of the 18-25 age group, with 4.70 lakh new subscribers added in the 18-25 age group, constituting a significant 57.07% of the total new subscribers added in January 2025. New subscribers in the 18-25 age group added in the month show a growth of 3.07% from the previous year in January 2024.

Further, the net payroll addition for the age group 18-25 for January 2025 is approximately 7.27 lakh reflecting an increase of 6.19% compared to the previous month of December 2024 and a growth of 8.15% from the previous year in January 2024.

This aligns with the earlier trend which indicates that most individuals joining the organized workforce are youth, primarily first-time job seekers.

The payroll data highlights that approximately 15.03 lakh members exited and subsequently rejoined EPFO. This figure depicts a significant year-over-year growth of 23.55% compared to January 2024.

Gender-wise analysis of payroll data unveils that out of the total new subscribers added during the month, around 2.17 lakhs are new female subscribers. This figure exhibits significant year-over-year growth of 6.01% compared to January 2024.

Further, the net female payroll addition during the month stood at around 3.44 lakh reflecting an increase of 13.48% compared to the previous month of December 2024. It also depicts a significant year-over-year growth of 13.58% compared to January 2024.

The Government E-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing ₹5 lakh crore in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) on its portal, more than 18 days before the close of the financial year 2024-25, as per the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

This achievement highlights GeM's rapid expansion as a primary tool for public procurement, serving a buyer base of over 1.6 lakh government entities.

Notably, the leap from ₹4 lakh crore to ₹5 lakh crore was accomplished in less than 50 days since crossing the previous benchmark on 23rd January 2025.

GeM has undertaken major policy reforms in recent months to enhance market accessibility and streamline participation for sellers.

Key initiatives such as the reduction in Transaction Charges, Vendor Assessment fees, and Caution Money requirements have made the platform more accessible, particularly benefiting Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), startups, and women-led enterprises.

As of 13th February 2025, over 22 lakh sellers and service providers are registered on GeM, contributing to a diverse and competitive procurement ecosystem.

GeM has successfully onboarded over 29,000 startups and 1.8 lakh Udyam-verified women-led businesses, fostering greater inclusivity and economic empowerment on the said date.

With a steadfast commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility, GeM has facilitated cumulative public savings exceeding ₹1,15,000 crore.

The platform has over 1.6 lakh registered government buyers, spanning central and state ministries, departments, public sector enterprises, panchayats, and cooperatives, further driving the adoption of digital procurement across all levels of governance.

Now after reset your Fitbit Versa can take several minutes to boot up again. When it boots up, you can see the Fitbit logo on the screen and it will then ask you to go to the Fitbit setup page.
If you were unable to press, hold and release the buttons in time, just do not perform any task and your Versa will boot up with our performing factory reset.

This can definitely solve any software issue that is preventing your Versa from turning on naturally.

The biggest problem with a Windows computer is that it becomes super slow over time.

Noticeable lags and glitches can occur after using Windows for several months.

And if you don’t update your PC or try to force stop the “windows update”, Microsoft will eat all of your RAM and will make your computer your biggest enemy.

So in this article, I’m gonna talk about several methods to make your PC fast again or even faster than its original condition.

*Spoiler Alert* the last one is my favourite.

But before talking about those methods, let see what are the reasons behind the slowness of your Windows PC.

According to some “specialized windows users”, your PC can be slow because it got some malware from the internet.

But, is it only for the malware?

I don’t think so. There’s a lot is going on behind your nose.

For the context, Microsoft is a corporation and Windows is their product. So they’re continuously trying to collect your behaviour as a form of data.

So that, they can later serve you better ads and optimize their operating system as per your need.

And for collecting a massive amount of data, they need to run several programs in the background that blocks a high percentage of your RAM.

But, don’t worry.

After reading this article, your computer will run faster and works perfectly with extreme smoothness.

Windows Factory Reset (Default Mode)

As the “specialized users” said, if your computer actually got malware or ransomware attack, the best and only option is resetting your Windows OS.

It will fresh start everything and maybe it can solve your issue.

To reset Windows, go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.

Then, click on “Get Started” under “Reset this PC”.

Your PC will start resetting.

Don’t try to turn off your PC during the resetting process. It may corrupt your OS.

Fresh Install Windows OS (Bootable ISO)

Sometimes resetting your PC cannot fix all the problems. For that case, there’s no other option than installing a fresh operating system with the help of a bootable Pendrive or CD.

First, you have to download the ISO/IMG file of your desired operating system.

Then plug in a Pendrive (min 8GB) and make it OS bootable by using programs like Rufus or Etcher.

Or you can even use Microsoft’s own MediaCreationTool to make your Pendrive bootable.

Almost all commercial software has alternative open-source software that you can download freely from the internet.

So, learning these kinds of programs can help you to save money, RAM of your PC and can be beneficial in the future.

Switch to Linux

Now, this might sound very obvious to you but, if you’re not a gaming freak and use your computer for work purposes, the best thing you can do is switching to Linux.

As I said at the starting, the last one is my favourite. It’s the one.

It’s free, open-source, can run on a slower machine, have great features, awesome security and much much more.

You can do everything you need to do in daily life.

Even you can perform advanced pieces of stuff in your Linux terminal.

The best thing about Linux is, it is made for you. Not for any corporation for making money.

Performance and affordability are two of the biggest pillars of Chromebooks. An affordable laptop with longer battery life and better day-to-day performance was some of the first selling points of Chromebook.

But in 2021, Chromebooks are more than just Chromebooks.

In this article, I’m gonna review the HP Chromebook 14 according to 2021.

I’m gonna talk about its specifications, price in India, whether the price is justified or not, unbiased review and opinion about HP Chromebook 14 and some of its alternatives such as HP Chromebook 14, HP Chromebook x360, HP Chromebook 14a & HP Chromebook 11.

Why Chromebook?

First of all, let’s talk about Chromebooks. Should you buy them in 2021? If yes then why? What are the pros & cons?

If I have to say something about Chromebooks in just one line, I would like to say, “Chromebooks are like affordable Macbooks with their own features and accessibilities.”

It’s actually true.

Chromebooks are better performing than any regular windows laptops. They have better battery life and optimization along with affordability & portability.

With Chromebooks, you’ll get the actual laptop experience. Regular laptops aren’t actually laptops, they’re just portable computers. Unlike them, Chromebooks will give you the best experiences exactly like the smartphone you’re using.

Along with Android application support and Linux (Beta) support, it makes one of the best deals in the entire computer industry.

Now talking about the bad parts of Chromebooks, They don’t come with a lot of space. But, luckily it has a MicroSD card slot for expanding your storage up to 128GB & they’re definitely not for hardcore gamers.

HP Chromebook 14 is one of the early Chromebooks that are available right now. You can get a better Chromebook at this price range or cheaper in 2021.

I’m gonna compare it with other Chromebooks. But as this is the HP Chromebook 14 review, I’m gonna talk about it anyway.

Build Quality:

I’m not actually impressed by the build quality. Although it came in 2019 still it’s too plasticky.

It looks way better than any regular laptop at this price point but for 2021, it’s not actually a good looking laptop.

It has a matte finish at the back that makes it feel awesome while holding it with one hand and the keyboard also feels decent while typing.

Performance:

Now talking about the performance, when it was released, at that time it had a very buggy and immature operating system.

ChromeOS wasn’t a good smooth operating system at all. But all these years, they improved and right now ChromeOS is one of the best operating systems for laptops.

If you’re buying HP Chromebook 14 right now, no doubt you will get the latest ChromeOS version with all the features and smoothness.

It handles everyday tasks like browsing, writing, watching videos, coding, video conferencing and stuffs like these pretty well. I mean to say a lot better than any regular windows laptop.

But, it’s not for gaming. You will see lagging issues while heavy gaming. But casual gaming is okay. You can easily download a bunch of Android games from the Play Store and Linux games from the internet but don’t even think about heavy gaming on this device.

₹24,592

This Chromebook is not currently available in India. But you can check out this Chromebook on Amazon. It’s better than HP Chromebook 14.

Should you buy in 2021?

Honestly speaking, a big NO.

As I’ve said earlier, you can get a better alternative to HP Chromebook 14 in Indian e-commerce in 2021.

They are new, fresh and with better optimization for Chromebook users.

Some of the alternative Chromebooks that you can afford at this price range are,

Conclusion

So, this was my review and opinion about HP Chromebook 14. It was released in 2019 and is not up to the mark as the year 2021.

I’ve said everything you need to know if you’re planning to buy this particular Chromebook right now. Chromebooks are great laptops but this one is outdated and not as good as the new ones.

Lastly, I would like to say that I love Chromebooks a lot more than regular laptops because I love Linux. And Google implemented the best thing possible to make Linux a mainstream operating system with the help of Chromebooks.

Internet of things, you may have listen to this term many times from the past few years.

Now let's simply this thing.

First, tell me how we are connected?

We can communicate with each other, share knowledge and opinions to each other through the internet.

Now, replace us with devices (I mean physical objects).

Now let's take some of the devices that we use daily and connect them with the internet.

Now, the ac will set it's temperature based on the value that is being

shared by the sensor.

And can play his or her favorite show on the TV as well.

Or, you can be a parent wanted to bring your child in a online distance education environment but, don't have too much money to spend on gadgets, this article is for you.

Here I've sorted down all the value for money gadgets to build a online learning setup.

Best E-Learning Gadgets:

Android/IOS Mobile:

I hope you definitely have a smartphone in your hand right now as you're reading this article online.

Even a smartphone with a decent specification can handle almost every single thing in online education.

I would like to suggest you to have a good internet connection and some more available data than usual.

I mean, just recharging with a higher data pack can help you a lot.

And, I'm gonna add one more thing.

You can buy a super cheap plastic built tripod for mounting your smartphone.

Laptop:

If you have a laptop, it's the same.

You have most of the things like webcam and microphone to start digging into distance education.

But, upgrading into a good webcam and a decent USB microphone can improve the quality even much better.

If you don't have one, here are some of the budget friendly laptops you can buy online.

Laptops: Dell, Lenovo1, HP, Lenovo2

Custom Build:

1. Desktop PC:

Desktop PCs are awesome and it's my favorite.

I know it's not portable but, the opportunities are seamless.

You can build a super cheap PC to start while upgrading as you go on.

Even, a small sweet Raspberry Pi is almost enough for your journey.

You can buy an All in One PC or build yourself with custom PC parts.

I would suggest you to buy from a local store as, it will be a bit cheaper than online.

2. Monitor:

The price of monitors starts with less than ₹3,000 and go on and on.

As I said earlier, you can buy a super cheap monitor in less than ₹2,999 from a local computer shop near you.

But if you want to go online, there is a monitor from Zebronics you can pick.

3. Webcam:

Webcam is a must needed product if you're using a desktop.

But, please buy a good one.

The webcam industry have got a massive growth during the lockdown.

And the prices... Oh my god. It's too much right now.

There was a time when webcam companies had to run ads to sell their products.

But all thanks to the pandemic, it's their time now.

But if you still looking for a cheap one, I'm telling you, your overall experience will be worst than anything else.

One of my student's parents have bought a very cheap webcam from a local store.

The camera quality is very very bad.

It has built-in LED flash light but, still the quality is 99% bad.

And the microphone is not working as usual.

Turning off your camera will be better than these types of webcams.

But if you want to invest a little bit, here are some good webcams with a decent quality camera.

4. Microphone:

A good microphone is very important for attending online classes.

If you're buying a decent webcam, it will have a decent quality microphone built-in.

But, if you want to buy a separate microphone to expand your overall quality, take a look at Blue Snowball or Blue Yeti.

It's two of the best and most budget friendly desktop microphones.

5. Wi-Fi Router:

As you're studying and doing everything online, you will definitely need a good internet connection.

You can buy a decent Wi-Fi router directly from your local internet operator or from online stores.

7. JioFi

If you're in India, Jio Fi can be a good replacement of local Wi-Fi router.

It will be cheaper too.

Recharging with a higher internet plan can help you with more studying and researching purposes.

Why Old PC Can Run HD Videos But, Not HD Games?

Do you have an old computer in your home? Do you watch HD videos or movies there?

If your super old PC can easily play HD videos then why it can't handle HD games?

In this article, I'm gonna talk about this.

How videos work?

When you download a video or movie on the internet, you download a rendered file.

This file is rendered by software to be played inside another software.

For example, when you make a video, after editing you render your project by software like Premiere Pro.

And when it's ready, it can be played by software like VLC Media Player.

So, it's not an executable file. Rather, it's an extended file that can be played by a compatible program.

For that reason, if you don't have a media player installed on your computer, the video or movie file will not gonna be opened.

How games work?

Game files are completely different from video files.

A game has lots of assets and executable files which requires a good amount of memory and processing power.

At the starting of a game, it might not lag. But as more you're playing, the game loads more files that need a huge amount of processing power according to the game quality.

Games also required user interaction. For example when you press the key for going forward, first your keyboard tells the CPU, then the command goes from CPU to OS, from there to game controller files.

And when the process will be done, it will tell the CPU again to project that to monitors.

And as all these processes have to be executed simultaneously, it will take more and more power.

That's why old PC can't run high-end games.

Conclusion:

So, as the video files are very less process hogging than game and less memory required to run, they can be played on almost any types of machine.

But, games are pretty heavy and not made to be performed by a tiny memory.

That's why an old PC can run HD videos easily but can't run HD games.
