Let's talk about it… 

As the seasons change, most of us have an impulse to switch up our hair color. Blonde by the Summer, Red during the Fall, Dark for Winter, and transitional tones during the Spring. I am going to break down how to add dimension to your hair color without bleaching or dyeing your hair (chemical-free color) by using extensions.

Adding color without bleaching or dyeing your hair

Hair extensions can be used for more than just volume and length, they can be used to add highlights, lowlights, balayage, or ombre effect to your current hair color. There is a lot of room for error when bleaching your hair such as: rinsing the hair too soon, damage from leaving it on too long or a fast-fading toner. Using hair extensions to add dimension to your hair removes that room for error and is the fool-proof way to ensure you get the color you desire and expect to achieve.

How to create a multi-tonal effect 

Choose one color as your base that matches your own hair, and then a second color you would like to have as your highlight or lowlight. This is how you get the added dimension and multi-tonal effects without the dyes, bleach, or chemicals in traditional color processing. You can achieve these results with DIY (Clip-ins, Halos, Ponytails) and Stylist Method (Tape-ins, Keratins, Wefts) hair extensions. Dealing with Damaged Hair

Taking a break from color processing or bleaching your naturally growing hair will allow your hair to rest. If you struggle with chemically-damaged hair, or just dead ends, but are afraid to lose length, don't worry. You can cut off those dead ends and incorporate hair extensions to keep your length while your hair regrows. Don't forget to have fun, since it is commitment-free! It's beginning to look a lot like Festival Season, from social media to online retailers we can see that desert inspo is among us. You will see influencers and the general audience alike dressed to the nines in Bestsellers and New Arrivals from your favorite stores. Not only will the Coachella Valley be pumping out the latest hair and fashion trends for the next 3 weeks, it will also be playing the best music! Coachella Weekend 1 will be taking place (April 14-16), Coachella Weekend 2 (April 21-23) and Stagecoach (April 28-30). Don’t worry if you can’t attend IRL, you can watch your favorite artists on the Coachella Youtube Livestream. I’ve been to both of these events a total of 4 times so I have a bit of experience in the desert heat (and wind). Here are my tips and tricks on how to keep your mane tamed all weekend long. 

The Preparation 

If you’re looking to have your best hair days ahead it takes a little bit of planning and a lot of dry shampoo. Make sure to give your scalp TLC by using clarifying shampoo to remove product build-up or wash and repeat with your usual shampoo. After you’ve applied conditioner from the mid-strands to ends of your hair and pat gently to dry or use our microfiber towel turban, make sure to follow up with serum and style as usual. For the days in-between washes use a leave-in spray to reduce static, frizz, and tangling and keeps your hair smelling great and looking fresh between sets. 

When the beat drops

If you’ve been to either of these music festivals then you know it’s HOT, you get sweaty and your hair is bound to get tangled by the end of the night so make sure to plan your hairstyles accordingly. Whether you are wearing tape-ins, a ponytail, or clip-ins, 

• Day 1 is the day to go all out with your hairstyle, accessories and all. 
• Day 2 becomes a more practical look once you experience how much wind and walking there is between sets. 
• Day 3 ends up being more of a natural look with trendy accessories (if you make it to day 3) because all of your energy has been depleted by the desert sun. 

After the Festival 

Glam Seamless has two salon locations, one in Los Angeles in Weho, and our flagship salon in NYC in Soho. As I’m local to NYC, I’m booking my appointment at Soho salon with our amazingly talented stylist, Kelsey Jurado. Before booking my appointment I needed to get color matched. It’s recommended to get a color match before booking an appointment. There are a couple ways to get a color match making the process super convenient. I could visit Soho for a free consultation–no appointment needed! If you are local this is recommended so the stylist can see your hair in natural light and advise on the best method for your hair type. Plus, once your consultation is complete the stylist can order your hair right there in the store. Or, I could go online to glamseamless.com and connect with a Glam Seamless stylist through the FREE virtual color match.

I chose to visit the salon and Kelsey recommended Jet Black  1 and Hawaii Balayage in our Remy tape-ins. Once I was color matched there was no need to order my hair as the salon also has a fully stocked store with all Glam Seamless hair extensions and products. Kelsey retrieved my future hair and I booked my appointment all-in-one. 

Same-day appointments can be made when available. I booked same-day and my appointment experience began. I was offered a beverage of my choice (I chose a mimosa!) and was provided the pre-estimate of my appointment. Next, I was shown upstairs to the salon–it’s truly a VIP experience! To begin; Kelsey first washed my natural hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any buildup and to help prevent the adhesive of the tapes from not sticking to my natural hair. Kelsey did not apply conditioner to my roots. This is key as it prevents tape slippage after the install. Afterwards, he blew out my natural hair and we double checked the color match before starting the install.

Two to three packs are typically recommended for a full installation of tape-ins. I have wavy hair with medium volume so Kelsey used two packs, one pack of the Jet Black 1 and one pack of the Hawaii Balayage, which equals twenty bonds. Kelsey mixed the colors by sandwiching the two colors together with the clamping tool, resulting in the most GORGEOUS blend! I had no idea how customizable tape-ins were and the Hawaii Balayage gave me a chemical-free color lift with pops of highlights. This was important to me as I like to avoid using chemicals on my hair. 

Once the tapes were installed; Kelsey gave me a custom cut to blend the tapes with my natural hair using both a razor and scissors. I went for the 20” because I want all the length and volume. Tip: It’s always better to select a longer extension and custom cut to a shorter length if desired. The custom cut was the final step to blending the Remy tape-ins perfectly with my naturally grown hair. Kelsey finished by styling my new locks. I opted for a modern take on the iconic “Farrah Fawcett” waves. My finished look was AMAZING and I felt amazing, too. Truly, I’m obsessed now. 

Once done, Kelsey went over the aftercare sheet with me and these tips made a difference in my first 72 hours of wear. Following proper care instructions ensures I will get the most out of my investment. 

Key tips from the aftercare sheet I was provided:

• Semi-permanent extensions may feel a little heavy on your head at first. The good news is some sensitivity is typically normal and subsides within about 2-3 days once your scalp adjusts to the tape-ins. It really depends on your own personal level of sensitivity and if you are new to wearing a hair extension method. I’ve worn clip-ins, so I did not feel a tight or heavy sensation with tape-ins. The tape-ins were actually more comfortable for me.
• Do not wash your hair for up to 48 hours after the install to prevent slippage.
• Always use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

If you had asked me if I’d ever consider cheating on my beloved clip-ins with semi-permanent tape-ins I’d have said, “no way!”. Now that I’ve tried tape-ins, I’m a lifer! Loving my new tape-ins!

If you’re reading this, then you must be looking for the 411 on our Invisi tape-ins. I'm Blake, the Marketing Coordinator for Glam Seamless. I've been obsessed with hair extensions for over a decade and joined the Glam team 3 years ago, starting out as a virtual color match consultant. So, let me break down why our Invisi tape-ins are the most innovative on the market for fine and thinning hair.

The biggest question I'm asked: what is the difference between our Remy and Invisi tape-ins? Remy tape-ins are great for all hair types and for creating natural length and volume. Invisi tape-ins are best for fine and thinning hair as they offer ultimate discretion. Invisi tape-ins come with 10 pieces and each hair strand is hand sewn into the tape bond which gives the illusion that the extensions are growing directly out of your scalp. This hand sewn design creates a virtually invisible tape tab that blends seamlessly fine hair.

So, who should wear our Invisi tape-ins? Anyone can wear Invisi tape-ins, but these discreet tape-ins were specifically designed for people with fine, ultra fine, or thinning hair. If you have ultra fine hair you can use the single sided tape-in method. Pro tip: Using two tape wefts may be too heavy for thin hair, so single sided tape works as a bond holder, instead of the second weft. This method is perfect for those with thin hair and will give you instant volume, without the weight. 

Invisi tape-ins can mix and match with our Remy tape-ins which is my go-to recommendation. Pro tip: Apply Remy tape-ins from the occipital bone down to the nape (lower back of head), and use our Invisi tape-ins at the crown (top of the head), and temples (sides of the head). Place Invisi tape-ins on top of the Remy tape-ins for ultimate coverage. Why? Because everyone has a visible hairline, and this placement helps with cowlicks or on those days where you have a little oil buildup and ‘peek-a-boo scalp’ is inevitable.

How many packs of tape-ins do you need? This is where things can get tricky - It all depends on how much hair you have to start with and the final look you are trying to achieve.

If you are going strictly Invisi then I recommend:

• 2-3 packs for a ‘natural look’
• 4-5 packs for a ‘volume look’
• and 6+ packs for a ‘voluminous look’

If you are going to mix and match then I recommend:

• 1 pack of Remy and 1 pack of Invisi’ for a ‘natural look’

Tape-ins are a stylist method and the hair extensions must be applied by a certified Hair Stylist. Tape-ins haircare 101

Wash your hair 2-3 times per week
A quality shampoo is vital to keeping your scalp and extensions healthy, and free of buildup. However, shampooing too often can cause your scalp and hair to miss out on vital natural oils and nutrients. Balance is key, and 2-3 shampoos per week is a great rule of thumb for most hair types. Be sure to follow with a hydrating conditioner. 

Expert tip:
Be sure to only use shampoo and conditioner that is paraben-free and sulfate-free like our Cleanse Shampoo and Hydrate Conditioner

• Step 1 Shampoo the scalp first and let the lathered product rinse through to cleanse the ends.
• Step 2 Use warm water, not too hot as hot water can dry out the hair as well as cause tangling.
• Step 3 Do not scrub aggressively, or bunch up the hair. Keep hair directed straight down as much as possible to avoid tangles.
• Step 4 Be sure to gently cleanse between tapes to avoid scalp irritation and oil buildup.

Apply a moisturizing hair mask 1 time per week
Unlike the hair we grow, extensions don't absorb natural moisture as well from your scalp. This means ends are going to be extra thirsty for hydration with extensions. Help treat ends with a weekly moisture hair mask. Your ends will thank you and you’ll notice a huge difference in the overall shine and health of your extensions. 

Expert tip:

• Avoid too much protein or overusing “strengthening” masks as these can build up on extensions and cause breakage.
• Apply a mask from mids to ends of hair only, never at the scalp.
• Avoid applying conditioners and masks directly on to the tapes or its immediate surrounding area to avoid causing tape-ins to slip.

Allow hair to air dry whenever possible
Using excessive heat on hair extensions reduces hair lifespan. Whenever possible, give your hair the time to air dry to minimize heat exposure and damage.

Expert tip:
Use Glam Seamless Thermal Therapy Protecting Spray when styling or blow drying to ensure maximum heat protection. 

• Detangle hair before drying. If blow drying wet hair start on low-medium heat. When hair is about 60-70% dry you can use a round or paddle brush. Brush gently and avoid unnecessary tugging on extensions when blowing out. Always use temperatures below 400 degrees.
• Never apply hot tools directly to tape.

Brush your hair 2-3 times a day

• When brushing, hold extensions at the scalp and brush hair to avoid pulling. Brush from the ends first and work your way up. 

Prevent tangling and matting
Aside from heat damage, tangling and matting is the worst culprit for reducing the life of your tape-in extensions. But, tangling and matting are preventable!

Expert tip:

• Never sleep with wet hair.
• Keep tapes flat to head and brush often to prevent them from twisting together.
• Try sleeping in braids. They're a great way to avoid midnight tangles.
• Swimming pools and oceans are nice but tough on hair. Always apply a leave-in conditioner beforehand. Keep hair braided for extra protection.

9-1-1 Tangle and Matting Emergency
If you find yourself with a tangled mess, don't panic–most tangles can be removed. When dealing with some gnarly tangles use these tips.

Dry tangles
Apply Silky Smooth Serum and begin detangling with Detangler Brush or a wide comb from the ends up. Once larger tangles are removed switch to a Fine Tooth Comb to remove the smaller, tougher tangles. It's important to take your time, be gentle and avoid creating extra breakage.

Wet tangles
Use Glam Seamless 24/7 Glam Leave-In Spray or First Class Mask to add extra slip to the hair and detangle from the ends, working your way up gently. Try to separate hair in to smaller sections when possible, rather than working on a large area at once. Do not pull or rip through hair as this can cause breakage or cause tapes to slip. I couldn’t help but notice how flat and discrete these extensions were. Each bond took only 60 seconds to apply, and the stylist said a full head application could take less than an hour. In my 10 years of wearing extensions, I had never seen anything like it. 

I will never forget going to the salon in 2012 for a blowout and noticing the woman next to me was getting “tape-in extensions” installed. I was instantly fascinated. 1. Filters: We get it...everyone uses filters these days on social media. While the practical filters aren’t total deal breakers, we prefer a naturally lit setting. Just ask our Customer Concierge team! They request photos in natural lighting everytime they provide a color match. 
2. Too Many Tags: With social media evolving constantly, it’s only natural you will want to provide as many tags as possible on your photo. While we understand the algorithm is changing rapidly, this makes it difficult for us to follow. When posting a photo wearing GLAM SEAMLESS Hair Extensions, try to limit the amount of tags so we can feature you. Trust us, we love going tag crazy, too!  
3. Blurry: Try to avoid any blurry photos. They make it hard to see your perfectly styled mane as well as your lovely face! Make sure when taking the photo your camera or phone is perfectly angled so you can rock that photo-op! 
4. Messy Background: This one goes back to the clear backgrounds that we talked about loving so much! A messy background can truly make or break the photo. As gorgeous as your hair might be, the focal point ends up being the background. You’re a model babe, remember that! 
5. Tagging Too Many Hair Companies: Girl, avoid tagging multiple hair companies! Keep it simple and try to stick to one or two!

April is a month to appreciate the beautiful Earth we live on and try to be a bit more eco-friendly. This planet should be preserved to the best of our abilities for all living entities to enjoy. What happens when we are total prima-donnas when it comes to our hair? I bet we don’t even realize some of the habits we are so accustomed to doing or using can be harmful to our Mother Earth! I’ve taken some of the guessing work out of it for you and came up with some ways to preserve the planet and still look absolutely dazzling while using less!

1. Use Less Water
What’s better than a nice long shower? Almost nothing, right!? Unfortunately those long showers which we tend to indulge in do more damage to the earth than good. Preserve the water by taking a shorter shower! To all my Glam Babe extension wearers, you totally should not be washing your extensions everyday anyway.  It’s a total win with a shorter shower! Be sure to use a Dry Shampoo on your skip days to have the most luscious locks on the block.
    
2. Go All Natural 
Girl, give your tresses a break and go au naturel! While it may not seem like it at the time, even as little as 5 minutes spent daily on heat can add up! While we love a straight sleek look as much as the next diva, all that heat is not beneficial for our hair. Try letting your hair air dry and embrace the natural goddess you are. Better yet, why not check out our Beach Wave Clip-Ins which can add to the texture of your natural hair with no heat required. Trust us, your hair and the planet will thank you later! 
    
3. Recycle Those Empties
Many of us are great with recycling when it comes to our food items, but what happens when it comes to hair products & tools? Many hair products come in packaging which is damaging to the environment that we’d never even think of! We might just toss the packaging out without a thought on if it’s recyclable or not. Is it plastic? Most likely. Rinse & recycle it, love! 
   
4. Be A Minimalist
Minimize product usage by using an all-in-one product or 2-in-1 tools that have ingredients to aid in a multitude of ways. Plus, save money on your water bill and limit any excessive water usage by incorporating dry shampoo into your hair care routine to help cut back wash days. TBH, if you’re not using dry shampoo how are you even functioning? You can even get a deeper clean to maximize your oil absorption with clarifying shampoo that will leave your hair looking and feeling cleaner for longer. 5. Up-Cycle

You can also re-sell items you’ve got lying around the house or donate! Go make some cash to put some money in your pocket to purchase that Priscilla Valles collection I know y’all have been eyeing! 
    
6. Re-Use
Plenty of us use items that end up being tossed in the bin after the first use such as utensils. Try using those items that can be reused. This goes hand in hand with using items with sustainable packaging, like to-go containers. Try using refillable items for your shampoo and conditioners! This will help preserve the environment and it’s less of a mess for you to clean up!

Using your styling brush, pull your natural hair in a high ponytail if you are looking for more of a dramatic look,  or you can put it in a low pony if you’re looking for that soft girl next door vibe. Secure with hair tie.
   
Step 2:
Add some volume and Glam to this look- take your Invisi-Ponytail and insert the teeth like attachment into the middle base of your natural pony.
   
Step 3:
Wrap around the seamless finish hair piece of your Invisi-Ponytail and secure with bobby pins. All done- Can you say glamorous?!
   
Bonus Step!

15 years ago our options for hair extensions were so limited. I remember going to Sally’s to buy hair extensions and buying their clip ins - I got home after spending $175 to only be disappointed! Turned out, I needed two sets of their clip ins because the amount of grams were simply not enough.  Want to know what makes your hair extensions look crazy? Not having enough!   Not to mention the top of the clips the way they were designed were a bit too bulky for me. To make the extensions look real, they need to be flat on the top. That is why in 2012 we created Invisi-Clips in extensions -a unique flat seamless clip in design truly unlike anything else on the market.  We designed a product we wanted to wear - something that was flat at the top - and had enough hair per pack! Hand-tied wefts are perfect for individuals who love the idea of having, thick, luxurious hair but are concerned with the idea of the extensions peeking through. These extensions, similar to machine tied wefts, are installed the same way, but have a more seamless look and feel, perfect for those with thin hair. But what exactly makes it different?  We’re here to answer all your questions! 

Hand-Tied vs. Machine-Tied?

Hand-Tied wefts are exactly what they sound like! The hair is woven together by hand by an actual person by hand, giving each weft custom attention; creating the absolute thinnest weft possible! They are SO seamless because they are hand made and extremely flat, making them good for those with fine or thin hair! Having them created by hand is what makes them so seamless. Please note that because they are tied they cannot be cut to any desired length, you have to purchase them at the correct length. If you cut hand-tied wefts they will unravel, so if you do cut them it is important to seal the ends with a strong liquid glue such as our Liquid Tape!  A machine-tied weft is fed through a machine and weaved tightly into the seam, similar to how a sewing machine works providing a thicker weft at the top. 

Why Hand-Tied Wefts? 

Due to their seamless look, hand-tied wefts are perfect for those with extremely thin hair, they are easier to blend into your natural hair, and harder to detect if someone touches your head. Another great aspect of hand-tied wefts is because a human is tying them together, they are more likely to stay connected to the weave, so your hand-tied wefts will fare longer and stay as full as they were when they were first purchased. Also, in terms of the removal process, hand-tied wefts are typically installed with the braid less sew in technique. This means that there is absolutely no use of harmful chemicals or heat, they leave ABSOLUTELY NO residue and can be moved up or removed completely in a pinch! 

How do you apply it?  Please visit a salon professional to have proper installation of the Beaded Weft. If you are a salon professional, please be sure to get certified in this method  by Glam Seamless to not only earn more money but not damage your clients hair and ensure you are doing the most up to date method that is safe for your clients hair. 

Glam Seamless can help you with every step! All the tools needed can be found on our site, all it takes is practice. One thing that differs from a machine-tied weft is that you cannot cut the hand-tied weft to fit. If the weft exceeds the needed length of the targeted track, then merely fold over the end and double-up the weft to the length that is needed. If the hand-tied weft gets cut, the weft will unravel. • 1 or 2 Traditional Bundles of Hand-Tied Wefts! 
• Beads that match your client's hair
• Plier

Parting

The first thing you need to do is start with super clean sections. There is nothing more important than making sure that your part is as clean as possible and flyaway free! Some stylists start with a horseshoe-shaped section at the crown and others choose to start at the nape of the neck. You may also choose to lightly spritz your sectioning with hairspray and sectioning clips to really keep all flyaways down.  

Foundation/Beads

Start by taking your Glam Seamless Looper and preloading it with five microbeads. Our microbeads have a silicone coating on the interior to prevent any excess slippage. 

• You want to install beads a half inch apart from each other - as this will serve as your foundation for the extensions.
• You will take the looper and slide the bead onto the hair section.
• You want to have enough hair to provide a base but also enough room for the curved needle to slide through.
• IF there is too much resistance getting the hair onto the looper it is an indication that there is too much hair in your section.
• You then want to take your pliers and slide the bead up toward the scalp to be a snug fit but not uncomfortable. Press down firmly enough to secure the bead but not so tight that your needle won’t pass through.
• Remember to clamp in the direction of the hair growth! You don’t want to tighten the plier while holding the hair up - but rather - while holding the section of hair down.
• The Beaded Row technique will also have thread looping each bead together. You will need to string the thread through the beads like a clothesline. This is to reduce the risk of beads sliding down by providing extra support. This would be ideal if a client has very fine/thin hair. Once this is done you will be ready to sew in your weft.

Sew In

Once you go all the way around the horseshoe you are done creating the base and you are ready to sew in your weft. You will need your C shaped or curved needle to install the extensions onto the foundation you have just created.

• Measure and cut the hair weft as needed.
• Remember hand-tied wefts will unravel when cut and you will have to reseal those ends. 
• Use duck clips to help keep the weft exactly where you need. If you are lucky enough to have an assistant have your assistant hold the weft in place.
• You want to triple, Yes I said TRIPLE stitch the very first section of hair onto that first bead.
• This bead has the most wear and tear over time and is where you will find most extensions start to lift. It's super important to thoroughly tie the weft onto the FIRST and LAST bead of a section to ensure a FLAT lay. Ensuring that the extension stays as FLAT as possible is KEY to a long lasting installation!
• Continue stitching until through the weft and bead until you are at your last bead.
• Remember to TRIPLE stitch the last corner bead to increase the longevity of the installation.

And that’s it! You are done installing.

With the expertise of your stylist, you can easily dye or tone your hair and extensions together in the same visit! As long as you’re still using your favorite Glam Seamless hair extensions, you can easily use any hot tool in your arsenal and stay perfectly glam for as long as you want.

The Braidless Sew In is perfect for someone who wants to try something different - one that is both adhesive- and pain-free! Perfect for individuals whose hair does not stay well in long term braids or who hate the residue left over from other adhesive extension methods. This method allows for the installation of an extension with the least amount of contact points with the client’s own head/hair. The installation will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks depending on the rate of your hair growth.

Who is a good candidate for this method?

With the Beaded Row technique, you need neither adhesive nor braids! Not all hair can support the tension of being braided for eight weeks at a time and adhesive can be scary! The Braidless sew in technique is a completely unique method of installation that creates a foundation for the extensions with microbeads or micro links.

An ideal candidate will have at least 6 inches of hair or more and will not have any signs of consistent traction, alopecia or tension related concerns.

How do you apply it?

Application of a Beaded Row or Braidless Sew In is super easy; just remember practice makes perfect! Below is a list of tools needed and the basic procedure for a braidless sew in. Follow along with our video tutorial here!

It’s been two months! How can I reinstall this?

The best part about this type of installation is that the reinstall is INCREDIBLY FAST! As a stylist, you NEED to offer this type of installation due to the ease of the reinstall. All you have to do is find the extension, unclamp the beads and slide them up. Once you have retightened the beads you are done!

A Glam Seamless ponytail extension turns your everyday ponytail into a lavish, thick ponytail that even Ariana Grande would be jealous of! Our clip in ponytail extension upgrades your very own ponytail adding length, density, and volume all in one quick extension. You can get a dazzling red carpet worthy ponytail without any heat, absolutely no tools and all without setting foot in a salon! 

So what is it?

The Glam Seamless Invisi Ponytail is a wrap around ponytail extension that also includes a velcro finishing piece. The construction of the extension makes it so there is one cohesive weft with a comb attached that is inserted into the middle of your own ponytail. You then take the extra finishing piece (with velcro!) and wrap it around and then you're done! 

How do you install?

Follow along with our video tutorial! 

You start by pulling your own hair into a ponytail first. Make sure your ponytail is nice and sleek by using a boar bristle brush and using a medium to firm hold hairspray. If you have baby hairs that need to be styled, it is best to use a lightweight pomade instead of gel as the gel can leave a residue once dried. Once your ponytail is just the way you want it you are ready to install your ponytail extension.

You slide the comb into the middle of your own ponytail. If you feel that you need extra support use a bobby pin or two. Then you take the finisher piece and wrap it around the extension and your own ponytail. You can secure the finisher piece with additional bobby pins. Voila! You are ready to paint the town red!

Help! How can I pick my color!?

Color matching is always the first step when choosing extensions! With the right color your extensions will be seamless. If you have multicolor hair we do carry ponytails with balayages and highlights! Make sure to match the ponytail color to your root! 

Glam Seamless Hair Extensions are made on our own color scale and if you want the most accurate color match possible its best to match to a real swatch. You can borrow our color ring and get a sample swatch of all our solid colors. Once you know what color suits you the best you can send it back and get a store credit to use towards your extensions! Love your ponytail? Make sure it lasts as long as possible!

Ponytail extensions need to be maintained just as you would your own hair. While you are wearing your pony throughout the day there will be multiple factors that will affect your extension and it is best to make sure you do everything you can to prevent issues from arising.

We love that you wear your pony everywhere you go! Your hair rests against your clothes, gets caught in your bag strap, is subject to sudden gusts of wind and dances with you! With all that being said, life throws a lot of friction on your ponytail and if you want to keep it looking as snatched as it did on day 1 make sure you brush it. It's best to brush it right before you install and as soon as you remove it. In order to prevent this from becoming a constant issue, it is best to use a leave in treatment on the extensions. The leave in treatment helps keep the hair hydrated and healthy preventing brittle ends and breakage and overall helping to maintain the manageability of your hair. 

The best practice with hair extensions to deeply hydrate the hair on a weekly basis. Hair damage happens at the molecular level and once it's damaged its nearly impossible to mend it - as such everyone should take as much preventative care as possible. Your own scalp provides a natural oil to your hair that serves as a way to moisturize the hair and seal the moisture into your strands. As extensions are not attached to your scalp they don’t benefit from this and require a weekly outside source of moisture. We have a phenomenal argan oil treatment that would work wonders! 

When using extensions it is always recommended to use a heat protectant to make sure that when you’re styling or even going outside that the hair is preserved from heat and the sun. Extensions can be affected by UV rays which will cause the hair to fade from sun exposure as well as dry out the strands. Remember that the extra sun, sea and pool water from summertime fun can accelerate hair damage and it's important to protect against these seasonal factors as well. A weekly hair mask or an oil treatment will work best to keep the hair hydrated and smooth. Please make sure to rinse the hair thoroughly after these treatments so that there is no residue to make the hair feel heavy or retain a film or texture on the strands.

HOW DO YOU INSTALL FULL WIGS

So how do you install and style your own wig?! The best thing to do is place the wig on a mannequin head and style to suit your needs. You can even choose to pre-style before the event and have a stress free event. 

When you are ready to install make sure you slip your hair into a wig cap. There are multiple styles of wig caps one that is just a stocking and others that are netted. We suggest the netted kind as the open netting allows for better breathability of your scalp, making the overall wear of the wig more comfortable. Once all of your hair is tucked away you are ready to slide on your wig! All of our wigs have adjustable straps making sure it can easily fit a multitude of heads. 

U-Part Wigs

As wigs continue to grow in the market, the U-Part wig has become a very popular product. They are called U-Part wigs due to how they are made, with a U partition structure. At Glam Seamless Hair Extensions all of our U-parts are made with 100% ethically sourced real human hair allowing a flawless and seamless installation. 

In order to install your Glam Seamless U-Part Wig you section a U-section from the hairline to the crown of your head. Once this is sectioned off you are ready to clip in the wig. Our U-part wigs are secured to a lace base with clips providing the most secure fit! Once the wig is secure, you can then release the section you pulled before and lay it over the top of the wig. You can then use your own hair to blend away the seam and have a flawless finish.

Traditionally extensions are installed once the person's natural hair is braided against the scalp, in the direction the extensions are being installed. This braid was the foundation for the hair weft to be installed. The next new wave of extensions were adhesive based extensions in which extensions adhered with a variety of different applications.  With the Beaded Row technique, you need neither adhesive nor braids! Not all hair can support the tension of being braided for eight weeks at a time and adhesive can be scary! Instead, opt for the Beaded Row/Braid Less sew in technique its a completely unique method of installation that creates a foundation for the extensions with microbeads or micro links.

Braid less sew ins are also called “flat tracks” or “skip tracks.” The only difference between a Beaded Row and a more traditional Braid Less Sew In is that in a Beaded Row there is an additional thread looping together all of the beads. This additional thread provides extra support for the extensions once installed. After installation the care for the extension is minimal - just follow your normal hair care routine! The Braid Less Sew In is perfect for someone who wants to try something different - one that is both adhesive and pain free! The installation will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks depending on the rate of your hair growth.

Why would someone want a Braid Less Sew In?

A Braid Less Sew In is perfect for individuals whose hair does not stay well in long term braids or who hate the residue left over from other adhesive extension methods. This method is ideal for those ladies who love a glam top knot or ponytail once properly installed the extensions won’t show at all - not even with an Arianna Grande-esque ponytail!  The Beaded Row and the Braid Less Sew In methods are completely adhesive free which makes moving them up or removal almost effortless. Additionally, these methods allow for the installation of an extension with the least amount of contact points with the clients own head/hair. The minimal contact points allow easy access to the scalp. As such a client can easily wash and condition without issue. Some feel that the Braid Less Sew In is the healthiest method for installing extensions due to the minimal contact points.

Since there is no adhesive or tape involved there are no limitations on what products can be used on the hair or scalp. With the expertise of your stylist, you can easily dye or tone your hair and extensions together in the same visit! There is no need to visit the salon multiple times to get the hair you’ve always wanted.  So reach for that Seriously Smooth oil lady! As long as your still using your favorite Glam Seamless hair extensions you can easily use any hot tool in your arsenal and stay perfectly glam for as long as you want.

Who is a good candidate for this method?

An ideal candidate will have at least 6 inches of hair or more and will not have any signs of consistent traction, alopecia or tension related concerns.

How do you apply it?

Application of a Beaded Row or Braid Less Sew In is super easy just remember practice makes perfect! Below is a list of tools needed and the basic procedure for a braid less sew in. Follow along with our video tutorial here!

Tools Needed:

• 1 or 2 Traditional Bundles of Glam Seamless Hair!
• Beads that match your client's hair
• Plier
• Looper
• Duck Clips
• Curved Needle and Thread

Parting

The first thing you need to do is start with super clean sections. There is nothing more important than making sure that your part is as clean as possible and flyaway free! Some stylists start with a horseshoe-shaped section at the crown and others choose to start at the nape of the neck. You may also choose to lightly spritz your sectioning with hairspray and sectioning clips to really keep all flyaways down.  

Foundation/Beads

Start by taking your Glam Seamless Looper and preloading it with five microbeads. Our microbeads have a silicone coating on the interior to prevent any excess slippage. 

• You want to install beads a half inch apart from each other - as this will serve as your foundation for the extensions.
• You will take the looper and slide the bead onto the hair section.
• You want to have enough hair to provide a base but also enough room for the curved needle to slide through.
• IF there is too much resistance getting the hair onto the looper it is an indication that there is too much hair in your section.
• You then want to take your pliers and slide the bead up toward the scalp to be a snug fit but not uncomfortable. Press down firmly enough to secure the bead but not so tight that your needle won’t pass through.
• Remember to clamp in the direction of the hair growth! You don’t want to tighten the plier while holding the hair up - but rather - whilst holding the section of hair down.
• The Beaded Row technique will also have thread looping each bead together. You will need to string the thread through the beads like a clothesline. This is to reduce the risk of beads sliding down by providing extra support. This would be ideal if a client has very fine/thin hair. Once this is done you will be ready to sew in your weft.

Sew In

Once you go all the way around the horseshoe you are done creating the base and you are ready to sew in your weft. You will need your C shaped or curved needle to install the extensions onto the foundation you have just created.

• Measure and cut the hair weft as needed.
• Remember hand tied wefts will unravel when cut and you will have to reseal those ends. Luckily - all Glam Seamless wets are machine tied and are ready for installation!
• Use duck clips to help keep the weft exactly where you need. If you are lucky enough to have an assistant have your assistant hold the weft in place.
• You want to triple, Yes I said TRIPLE stitch the very first section of hair onto that first bead.
• This bead has the most wear and tear over time and is where you will find most extensions start to lift. It's super important to thoroughly tie the weft onto the FIRST and LAST bead of a section to ensure a FLAT lay. Ensuring that the extension stays as FLAT as possible is KEY to a long lasting installation!
• Continue stitching until through the weft and bead until you are at your last bead.
• Remember to TRIPLE stitch the last corner bead to increase the longevity of the installation.

And that’s it! You are done installing. Feel free to trim and style your client's hair as needed.

Its been two months! How can I reinstall this?

The best part about this type of installation is that the reinstall is INCREDIBLY FAST! As a stylist, you NEED to offer this type of installation due to the ease of the reinstall. All you have to do is find the extension, unclamp the beads and slide them up. Once you have retightened the beads you are done!
