Takeaways

Takeaway 1: It takes time for your creations to be seen and for opportunities to come to you.

Takeaway 2: You never know when your next great opportunity will come, which is why giving, teaching, and sharing along the way means you're already crafting your future, aka, future proof.

After more than a year of consistently writing and sharing knowledge in AI, an exciting opportunity recently came my way.

It’s a reminder that showing up, creating value, and staying authentic in your work can truly open unexpected doors.

It’s the opportunity that I was invited to lecture on AI for a digital school.

Over the past year, I’ve been on a personal journey of recovering from burnout, reconnecting with my authentic self, and gradually rebuilding a career aligned with both meaning and creativity.

During this period of recovery, I began creating content, speaking publicly about AI, and coaching professionals on advancing their careers, navigating pivots, and upskilling in AI.

Takeaway 3: Let go of perfectionism.
With renewed clarity, my focus is to help like-minded professionals gain their own clarity in career development, life pivots, and AI education.

Everything I’ve done, even if it’s just one meaningful action per month has been grounded in that clarity and aimed at building momentum.

Instead, I focused on building two meaningful habits that have shifted the way I create and connect:

1. Creating through writing

I’ve started writing more consistently sharing my journey, reflections, and lessons in public.

I’ve been reflecting on growth, highlighting stories from others, and allowing my natural creativity to guide the process.

And writing is just the beginning. I’m staying flexible and open to evolving it into other creative forms, letting my creativity flow in its own rhythm. More creative projects coming soon.

2. One meaningful connection a day

Each day, I aim to have one genuine conversation, with someone in my network or someone new I feel aligned with.

I used to believe that networking was about numbers endless connections, larger lists, and metrics that looked impressive.

But it drained my energy and didn’t lead to meaningful results.

I’ve since learned:

It’s not about:

The number of followers

A long list of people never truly connected with

Who I know

It is about:

Who I’ve built real, genuine relationships with

Who knows me (not just who I know)

Who I can learn from through shared stories and lived experience

Who I can support and give back to in return

How

Before every conversation, I now prepare one thoughtful question.

For example,

Before a recent conversation, I emailed someone I deeply respect with one thoughtful question:

"How have you approached challenges in any of your pivots or transitions?

For example, pivoting within your business, or moving from corporate to entrepreneurship?"

If you say you’ve overcome people-pleasing, what if you've become audience-pleasing instead?

Who are you creating for?

Is it the transactional outcome?

Are you unconsciously slipping into an audience-pleasing state when you create, because you know what they want to see?

Because you know which parts of yourself you want them to see in order to increase the chances they’ll follow you, buy from you, or see you as more “successful” or “famous”?

Are you giving yourself even one moment to create purely for you, cultivating the courage to show who you really are, not just what you're known for or professionally good at?

When you truly let go of trying to control transactional outcomes through your content, you become less audience-pleasing.

You return to a more natural state where flow, opportunities, systems, and audiences unfold organically.

But perhaps that idea sparks your insecurities.

It is scary not to talk about what you're professionally good at.

Because that’s the safe route it’s what people expect from you. It’s how you've been validated.

But that safety also prevents growth.

I’ve been through this too:

There are moments when truly authentic content just flashes through me because it’s so me.

Not because it fits neatly into a content calendar.

Not because I sat down trying to map every piece to what my audience wants, or to what will trigger a lead, a conversion, a next-stage call, or a sale.

In a system-driven creator world, it’s easy to fall into that loop.

We’re told to reverse engineer everything.

Create more. Do more. Sell more. More, more, more.

And many of us end up far from the version of ourselves we truly want to share.

Even when the likes roll in, the followers grow, and the opportunities flow...

Inside, behind the camera, off the calls, sitting in silence, I feel empty.

Now, I'm learning to be better at honouring the freedom and flexibility I have as a creator.

I no longer worry if:

Every piece of content, newsletter, webinar, or talk has to provide massive value

I’m meeting my audience’s expectations

I’m teaching exactly what they want to learn

Because deep down, I know that I feel fulfilled and happy creating this for me.

And maybe, just maybe, someone out there will see it and resonate with it.

Everything else likes, followers, conversions is just a bonus to have, and I’m of course so happy about.

Have you been people-pleasing?

Do you feel like your value and inner worth need to be validated by others?

The truth is absolutely not.

When you begin to cultivate a grounded sense of being yourself, a sense of safety from within, you’ll look back and realise:
You weren’t people-pleasing or audience-pleasing, or stuck in any particular mode when creating.

That’s the beauty of the artistic state of creativity as a creator.

I once heard a stay-at-home mom say, after becoming a millionaire entrepreneur:

“Success is being able to choose to be with your family at 10am on a Monday when they need you.”

That hit.

The reality is, transitioning from a corporate girl to an entrepreneur has been 10x more challenging than even moving and settling across continents.

And I mean that, having lived and worked across Hong Kong, the UK, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore!

My transition from being a “forever corporate girl” into entrepreneurship, and blending it with being a creator, creating content and monetising it, started half-jokingly, half-seriously, when I said: “This is the one experience puzzle I haven’t yet collected.” So I dove in, just to see how it’d go.

[Update] I wrote another article about >> read here: the progress and strategic shift

Entrepreneurship has opened up exponential growth opportunities in every direction:

True business experience
Starting solo and learning through real world touchpoints on how to start, run, grow, and scale a business from the ground up.

Product-market fit
Even product folks in big companies talking about this every day often haven’t lived through it from 0 to 1, without all the corporate resources and structure backing them.

High agency
Leverage challenges in conflict, leadership, communication, and alignment within corporations are often better addressed from the inside through deeper understanding and perspective gained after experiencing entrepreneurship.

Marketing

Totally flipped my understanding of what marketing really is—when you're "forced" to dive deep and learn hands-on, especially with limited resources and without the backing of a fancy corporate brand. It's about truly understanding content–audience/market fit, unlocking real challenges, and upgrading yourself to the next level.

Branding is deeply undervalued.
It’s not just about visibility, it’s about building credibility and trust with others.

When people trust you, opportunities and deals flow in naturally.
There’s no need to force or push anyone to buy because the connection and confidence are already there.

From employee mindset to entrepreneurial mindset

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve made is moving from the idea of “just doing my job right and getting it done” to operating from a place of high agency.

That means taking full ownership and responsibility, not just for the wins, but for the mistakes too. I take the credit when things go well, and I take accountability when they don’t.

Cultivating resilience: 10x faster than in a 9–5

Entrepreneurship requires you to build resilience at an accelerated pace.

You have to adapt to challenges quickly, learn how to care for yourself, and create space to sit with failure, process emotions, and move forward.

I recently shared a story about how I handled a mistake I made with high-agency mode
👉 [Read it here]

Accountability as an entrepreneur
In the beginning, when you’re starting from scratch, it’s likely just you.

That can feel lonely, overwhelming, and can bring moments of doubt or the urge to return to your old life.

That’s why keeping yourself accountable is essential and so is finding the right people to walk this path with.

Having peers or mentors who’ve gone through similar journeys makes a huge difference. Asking for help, leaning on support, and sharing the highs and lows is not a weakness, it’s wisdom.

You are never alone.

And you always have the option to ask for help, without needing external permission

Let’s be honest, being a “shining star” in a big corporate role gives you a platform.

It’s relatively easy to get invited to speak on stages, be featured, and be “respected.”

Things have shifted.

It when you go independent, whether as an entrepreneur, solopreneur, creator, consultant, or coach, you quickly learn that opportunities don’t come easy.
The first step in overcoming fear

You don’t have to force yourself to immediately take action, instead, the first step of overcoming fear is that:

to start with awareness and understanding the core components that fear is built upon, welcome the new norm “uncertainty”, and practice asking yourself questions and pay attention to how you feel.

1. Welcome the new norm “Uncertainty”

Many people have shared their fears with me: fear of not knowing whether to choose A or B, fear of making the wrong decision, fear of the unknown, and fear of things beyond their control.

Or the fear of AI, particularly the overwhelming narrative that AI will replace many jobs and even human relevance in the coming years.

Here’s the thought:

If uncertainty has become the new norm, then cultivating adaptability and AI fluency, and applying them in your career, leadership, and business can become the new norm of thriving.

And if this shift is inevitable, rather than responding with fear, why not stay open, approach it naturally, start early, and grow step by step?

2. Step outside your comfort zone can mean only one tiny action

New things often make us uncomfortable.

We frequently hear about the importance of stepping outside our comfort zone.

At the same time, stepping out of your comfort zone doesn’t have to be a giant leap, it can be as simple as taking one small step that moves you closer to your goals and vision.

3. Past failures as patterns

Our brains often convince us that we can’t succeed because we’ve failed before.

But have you ever paused to ask yourself deeper questions about these fears?

Have you explored the patterns behind them?

Ever since experiencing serious burnout, for what felt like years.
Key Takeaways in Decision Making:

Soros’ principles help me add more thorough thinking when crafting AI strategies for my peers and clients:

Uncertainty is inevitable because we shape the very systems weparticipate in.

AI doesn’t eliminate uncertainty—but it equips us with better tools to navigate it.

Make one decision today—that surprisingly builds trust.

Takeaways on Strategy in Decision-Making

1. Perception Shapes Reality

Learning to recognise patterns and connect the dots has helped me shape my perspectives and support my clients in better understanding their strengths and limitations—while encouraging them to be open enough to make decisions and explore themselves throughout their growth journey in business and careers.

If you believe you can build a successful business, that belief influences your actions, which in turn shapes outcomes. Just like in financial markets, your conviction attracts clients, investors, and opportunities.

Even outside financial markets, in business and career pivots, this principle holds true.

2. Self-Fulfilling or Self-Defeating Prophecies

Your mindset and positioning determine whether a venture succeeds or fails. Hesitation, doubt, or negative assumptions can undermine your own success.

3. Iterate and Adapt to Uncertainty

Instead of chasing "perfect" strategies, embrace uncertainty by testing, learning, and adjusting based on real-world feedback—this is where AI and data-driven decision-making can be leveraged effectively.

4. The Market Reacts to You

Just as financial markets respond to traders' beliefs, the business world reacts to innovators who bring fresh perspectives and bold actions.

If you differentiate yourself, you influence how the market perceives and values you.

Success in business and career growth isn’t about eliminating uncertainty—it’s about embracing it, adapting, and iterating based on new information.

Recognising our own cognitive biases and being flexible with strategies reduces the risk of self-imposed limitations.

5. AI Reduces fallibility but Might not be able to eliminate It

AI can analyse vast datasets, detect patterns, and predict trendsmore effectively than human intuition alone.

Combine AI-driven insights with human intuition—using AI as an enhancement tool, not a replacement for judgment.

6. AI Enhances Reflexivity—But Reflexivity Still Exists

If AI predicts that a certain stock or market trend will rise, and enough people believe in that prediction, they take action that makes the prediction come true.

AI models influence the decisions of millions—but these collective decisions feed back into the system, altering the future in unpredictable ways.

Solution: Recognise that AI predictions aren’t fixed laws—they are influenced by human reaction and behaviour.

Final Thoughts

AI serves as a decision amplifier, not a decision maker—enhancing our ability to analyse data, recognise patterns, and make informed choices, but ultimately, the human element remains crucial.

The Reflexivity Principle shows that our beliefs influence reality, making decision-making both complex and impactful.

The Human Uncertainty Principle reminds us that rational decision-making is always limited, but embracing adaptability and iteration leads to better outcomes.

AI enhances our ability to navigate uncertainty but does not replace human intuition, creativity, and strategic thinking.

Your thoughts?

If you understand these principles, you can make smarter business and career decisions, knowing that uncertainty isn’t an obstacle—it’s part of the game.

How do you feel about today’s discussion on strategic decision-making inspired by cross-domain insights?
