The San Diego Gulls hit home ice for the third time this week Saturday night, this time to take on Pacific Division rival Stockton Heat, in a pivotal AHL playoff race match-up. Entering the game, the Gulls sat in 3rd place with 73 points (tied with Colorado), two points behind San Jose and 10 points behind Bakersfield. The Gulls needed a win tonight to keep up with the tight playoff race!

Despite many scoring chances in the first period, the Gulls and Heat found themselves locked in a scoreless tie after 20 minutes of play. For only the second time this season, the Gulls and their opponent entered the 3rd period in a scoreless tie. Despite the scoreless tie, it felt like the Gulls had more control of the game, leading in shot totals 25-20, and getting stellar chances and goal tending. The Gulls broke the ice early in the 3rd period, and grabbed the first goal and first lead of the game thanks to Adam Cracknell. However, midway through the period, Stockton would tie the game. With overtime seeming imminent, Stockton stole the game with a late goal from Valimaki, and spoiled the Gulls chances at a key point in the standings.

The San Diego Gulls returned to home ice after a 3-game roadtrip to take on their Pacific Divsion rival, the Ontario Reign. With the Gulls holding the second spot in the Pacific Division by only a point, Saturday's game proved to be a pivotal game toward San Diego's playoff push.

After falling behind 1-0 within the first two minutes of the game, the Gulls stormed back for a strong second half of the first period, and tallied four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead heading into the first intermission. With the Gulls dominating the first period, San Diego looked to keep the pressure on Ontario in the later moments of the game. However, Ontario stormed back in the middle frame, and scored 3 unanswered goals to cut the deficit to one with 20 minutes still to play. Despite a long 5 minute major power play, the Reign did complete the comeback and tied the game in the waning moments of the third period to force overtime. In overtime, Sam Carrick nearly ended the game on a breakaway, but the goal was reviewed and waved off. The game would go to a shootout, and Kevin Boyle made two key saves, while Justin Kloos iced the game giving San Diego a much needed 5-4 victory.

The San Diego Gulls returned home Wednesday night to take on its Pacific Division rival Stockton Heat for the 3rd time in a row. Over the weekend, the Gulls split a road series with the Heat in Stockton, losing 5-2 on Friday and winning 3-0 on Saturday.

The Gulls currently sit tied for 2nd place in the division with San Jose with 66 points, so tonight's game was a great opportunity to gain a ground as they near the playoff push!

After a wild, back and forth first period of play, the San Diego Gulls and Stockton Heat were locked in a 2-2 tie heading into the second period. Kalle Kossila and Adam Cracknell led the way for San Diego, and goalie Jeff Glass stopped 11 of the 13 shots he faced. The Gulls jumped out to an early 2-goal lead in the 2nd period, however, Stockton stormed back and scored 3 unanswered goals to grab a 5-4 lead heading into the final period of play. Unfortunately, the Gulls were unable to capitalize on key opportunities in the final period of play, and fell 7-5 to Stockton.

The San Diego Gulls were back on home ice Saturday night to square off against the San Antonio Rampage. San Diego is coming off of a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night against the Tucson Roadrunners, beating them for the first time in 8 meetings!

Entering tonight's game against the Rampage, the Gulls sat in 3rd place in the AHL Pacific Division with 62 points, and were looking to gain ground on Bakersfield and San Jose.

After a scoreless first period, the San Diego Gulls and San Antonio Rampage were both looking to get on the scoreboard first as they hit the ice for the second period. Both goaltenders held strong, so the offenses were looking to make a spark! San Antonio opened the game's scoring midway through the second period, the Gulls were able to strike back quickly, tallying back to back goals from Kevin Roy and Simon Benoit within a matter of seconds. With the score locked at 2 heading into the final period, both teams were hungry to cash in on the go-ahead goal. Fortunately, the Gulls survived a back and fourth third period, and sealed the 5-4 victory with an empty netter in the final second of the game!

The San Diego Gulls returned to their home ice for the first time in 2 weeks! The Gulls are coming off their longest roadtrip of the season, 6 games, where they posted a 3-2-1 record. Tonight, San Diego welcomes Pacific Division rival Tucson Roadrunners.

San Diego currently sits in 3rd place in the division with 60 points, and are two points behind San Jose for second place and five points behind division leader, the Bakersfield Condors.

After a wild first period, the Gulls held a 3-1 lead over their Pacific Division rival Tucson Roadrunners heading into the second period. Adam Cracknell, Sam Steel and Sam Carrick scored for San Diego, and Jeff Glass made a flurry of saves to keep the Gulls out in front. The Gulls extended their lead in the second period, increasing their hold over Tucson to 5-1.
