This blog is actually long overdue. I hear people say, "what's new?". Okay, I'm so sorry that I keep neglecting this blog but I have actually been working on some stuff on the background. Promise. The past few weeks, I have been going through each and every one of my previous blog posts, editing and/or sending some to trash, because I don't know what has gotten into me that at some point, they were published. LOL. I found out that a lot of old posts have photos that were deleted and I have no idea why. Also found some links that are no longer working. This may take years to fix but I'm going to try. Anyway, the purpose is to make this outlet a little bit reader-friendlier.

So yeah, agenda today is to review RRAW Skincare 1% Retinol Cream. Now before I start, let me make it clear to everyone that I am no expert in skincare ingredients or just the science behind the efficacy of such product/ingredient, and everything posted is based on my own experience. I have oily, acne-prone skin and I believe that our skin conditions aren't always similar, so what works (or not work) for me may or may not work for you.

RRAW Skincare 1% Retinol Cream (Vitamin A) 50g

Retinol is almost always the answer to pretty much any skin issues: acne, fine lines, brown spots, drooping, dullness, dark circles, enlarged pores — you name it! The transformative ingredient is pure vitamin A.

Our 1% retinol cream contains retinoid acid, the active form of Vitamin A that immediately binds with receptors on our skin cells, causing them to behave younger and healthier!

What you can expect:

Normalized cell turnover for clear skin

Glowing skin

Balanced pigment production for fewer splotches

Accelerate collagen synthesis for smoother skin and tighter pores

Fading age spots

Important:

If you've never tried any type of retinol cream, serum, oil, etc, you should know that it does come with an adjustment period!

Clinically, we've seen that it takes about three weeks for skin cells to adapt to retinoic acid and begin building their tolerance, so please expect some degree of irritation at first but this is completely normal!

We suggest that for your first few retinol applications that you mix our 1% retinol cream with your current moisturizer to dilute it.

Our 1% retinol cream is UNSCENTED and NO PIGMENTS to avoid irritations. Only the good stuff!

You've probably heard a lot about the importance and efficiency of Retinols from before, you might have tried a few ones too. In my case, this is the very first Retinol product I have tried ever. I am in my mid-20s and I am more eager to discover skincare that would slow down signs of aging. This is basically the reason that pushes me to try this.

Most of the Retinol stuff I've found online were actually expensive. I chose this one from RRaw because it's more on the budget-friendly side. I got these on a BOGO deal so it appears even more affordable, as I already got two containers for the price of one (P499). The 50g amount also goes a long way since you don't need a lot for every application, considering you can dilute it with your moisturizers. I'm also quite amazed that it's actually full to the brim.

If this is your first time incorporating Retinol in your skincare, it's advised to mix with your moisturizers as this is a strong concentration. Be careful and keep the instructions in mind, so you would avoid side effects like burning and irritation. I've read some people getting terrible results, I even experienced them myself, but I guess the key is to always read and follow, become consistent and also keep in mind that there is an adjustment period of up to 3-4 weeks. Please make sure to use a high SPF during the day. This is very important especially if you are using strong ingredients in your skincare.

To be honest, I wasn't as obedient at first. I was so impatient so I only partly follow what was advised. I was thinking that my skin has survived a lot of strong skincare before when I used TO's AHA+ BHA Peeling Solution and even Maxipeel Exfoliant. The pain was bearable for me so I initially thought that using Retinol cream every night wouldn't be any different. This is a mistake I would like you to take note of and avoid as much as possible.

Since your skin is not that familiar yet with retinoids, slowly introduce your skin to it by using only once or twice a week, then gradually increasing frequency to every other night and then every night as tolerated. Mix only a small amount with your moisturizer. In my case, I would apply layers of skincare first to act as a barrier before applying the retinol cream. I find that the cream is more spreadable and would feel less irritating when doing so.

The cream is faint yellow in color from the container, fragrance-free, and dries to a semi-matte finish. Though I feel like it takes a while before it gets absorbed completely. It makes my skin warm and looks greasy after a few hours. I don't mind so long as it works.

The cream doesn't have a very consistent texture, particles with darker yellow colors are present, so it makes me think that the ingredients aren't mixed so well. It's not a major deal though. This could be because it only has a few ingredients on the list - mostly raw, organic and natural - so it lacks the additional unnecessary ingredients that would make the product achieve a better consistency.

I've mentioned earlier that I started in the wrong foot with this product. On the first week, I applied this every night for 3 consecutive days, mixed about less than half pea-sized amount with my other skincare. I stopped applying on the fourth day, because my skin feels so itchy with redness and burning. I can see some parts of my skin on the face already peeling. I let my skin heal for the rest of the days on my first week before starting to use the product again.

This time, I decided to use the product once every two or three days depends on whether my skin can tolerate the pain or not. The pain became more tolerable this way. This was also the time I started getting new breakouts. I think it was normal as it's part of using retinols and because I usually get stuff like this whenever I am using a new product. When my skin feels a bit sore or uncomfortable, I would skip the retinol and soothe it using my regular serum and moisturizer.

I have been using the product on and off for a period of two months and the stinging sensation and itchiness don't completely go away. It's always there especially when skin is ready to peel. I don't think this is something I would want and continue to keep using since I now prefer gentler skincare that also works the same without the peeling and stinging. Having peeling skin also makes it harder to put on seamless makeup and it makes my skin looks and feels oilier than how it usually is. Although I would say that it helps with lightening acne marks a bit.

Like what I have said, I've tried gentler skincare products before, most recent once which I genuinely like are Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum and Moisturiser, both of which also works for my acne marks. For the same time period, I've noticed better effects and faster results compared to when using this retinol cream. RRAW Skincare 1% Retinol Cream isn't completely bad but I guess, it's a matter of preference. If you are interested to buy one, you may shop here.

Top 3 Local Couriers in The Philippines To Choose If You Are Living from the South

Way back 2017, I have written a blog post about the best couriers in the Philippines that I've known and tried. I haven't been able to update my list over the years and that's why I'm writing this. While I'm pretty sure you have your own favorites, I have mine too. I'll list them down shortly.

I lived from the North then (Valenzuela), but last year, we decided to move to the South (Cavite). I have come to realize that there's a scarcity of couriers from where I am now, compared to when I was living in the metro. I guess most couriers service NCR addresses because that's probably where e-commerce businesses are more active . Although it's just an assumption. :D

Anyway, I've googled and checked out a few websites. I found one that picks up from our area, but they have minimum parcel requirement. I am not a bigtime seller and I don't ship a lot in one batch. In fact, I only sell a few preloved items when I declutter, so reaching the required number is quite an impossible feat.

There's another one which I've only recently heard of. The thing is, shipping cost is quite expensive if I ship from where I am, going to different parts of the country. A big no-no for my regular buyers-turned-online friends.

So here I've listed the 3 couriers which I trust. They aren't completely flawless in terms of their shipping and delivery services but I am at my most comfortable when I trust my parcel with them.

1. GOGO XPRESS

It was formerly known as Xpost and even when I was from the north, I always use their service and almost all my transactions were excellent. The shipping rates aren't the cheapest, but still worth it in my opinion. Shipping was extremely fast compared to competitors, riders were friendly and courteous. They offer free pickup, free item protection (up to PHP500) and free COD transactions.

Their app is their biggest edge in my opinion. From scheduling a pickup to tracking and final deliveries, everything has been smooth for me for about 2 years. Until recently, when there has been a major change in their management, there were so many delays and backlogs but they were able to quickly recover. A few days after, they released a memorandum stating that they were withdrawing their partnership with Shopee. Another major change I observed was when they limit the serviceable areas for pickup to NCR and a few cities in Cavite and Rizal. Unfortunately, Tanza isn't one of those. I am still hoping for them to widen their coverage as soon as possible.

This is why I was forced to search for a different courier. A reasonably-priced courier that would pick up from my place and would offer that door-to-door service and parcel protection. Basically something that would outperform Gogo Xpress.

2. J&T EXPRESS

I have known J&T for years but it was only until recently that I decided to try them in place of Gogo. It was recommended by a previous buyer who wanted to save on shipping because Gogo, was well, more expensive. At first, I was under the impression that I could only dropship with J&T, just like JRS, LBC and more, but I found out I could also schedule a pickup online. The good thing is that they also pick up parcels from provincial places like ours, at no charge and they would even print your waybills for you. Great for those who ship small amount of parcels.

The only setback I always encounter is the booking process. I even had a hard time signing up for an account. Not sure whether it's a system glitch, but I always find it hard to schedule a pickup. Searching for the barangay, city, province is what prolongs the process. Sometimes, when I'm almost done, I'd still get this error 'order failed' or 'wrong sender address' and I'm like, how could that happen??? Using their app never fails to test my patience. PLEASE. IMPROVE. YOUR. APP. I.AM.BEGGING.

Nonetheless, I love the cheap rates, occasional vouchers, and accuracy of their tracking and delivery. I hope to never have any lost parcel with you guys hehe.

3. LALAMOVE

I though I might include a same-day shipping courier in my Top 3. I know there are other options like Grab or Angkas or Mr. Speedy (now Borzo Delivery I think), and I'm actually torn, but I would just say Lalamove since it's usually cheaper and most of my same-day bookings are with them. Although I have to be honest and tell you the not-so-good experiences I had with Lalamove.

First and foremost, it's usually hard to book a rider to pickup from my place to NCR and vice versa. I understand it could be the price surge in gas nowadays, but I couldn't book unless I add 'tip' on top of the base price. You're lucky enough if you could score a voucher to further lessen the total price.

Sometimes, riders would ask you if they could mark the shipment complete and add another transaction para sulit daw gas to which I would just say I'm good with so long as the parcel gets delivered safely. Of course, it has to be within the day. I still opted for Lalamove despite everything, because I still find it less expensive. I haven't tried Borzo yet, but it's also cheaper than Grab.

I just wish I could top-up money with no minimum amount required since I don't use Lalamove every so often. That's something I wish they consider.

Ellana 2-in-1 Eyebrow and Eyeliner Gel in Light Brown, Dark Brown and Soft Black Review

I couldn't remember the last time I wore makeup outside because I rarely go out and if I do, I tend to skip that part and stop at sunscreen. But I've never felt this left behind when it comes to skincare and makeup trends. I've thrown away ALL makeups I had (except for a single tint) because I had them pre-pandemic. And I think they were just too old and their texture and pigmentation were all compromised. I tried being sentimental about it, but I still prefer starting all over again with few fresh makeups.

What we'll be talking about at this point are some new addition to my mini collection. These are Ellana Cosmetics 2-in-1 Eyebrow and Eyeliner Gels. I got all 3 available shades: Light Brown, Dark, Brown and Soft Black. If you buy them in singles, they retail at PHP499 each. I purchased them at a bundle price of PHP999 (I think?) during the 10.10 sale, comes with free shipping and a freebie primer.

Ingredients

This product claims to be 2-in-1 - an eyebrow and eyeliner gel. I like multipurpose products like this because they save money (and space in your makeup pouch lol). Ellana claims these gels lasts up to 24 hours, and are water-resistant, also has high pigmentation. We'll talk about more of that later on.

Instructions for Use

These gel liners come with a box as you can see on the photos above. Made of glass with silver twist cap, packaging is very simple and travel-friendly.

Ellana 2-in-1 Eyebrow and Eyeliner Gel comes in 3 shades, all perfect for Pinay skin. My personal choice is Dark Brown since my hair is currently not treated with any colors. If you have lighter hair, you can opt for the light brown one and if you have really dark hair, Soft Black might be the best option. All three colors are basic and suitable as eyeliners.

If the products seem dry and not too opaque, you just have swirl your brush continuously to reveal the moisturized layer. Or you can add a very small amount of moisturizer to wet the gel. Check the swatches down below.

I apologize as my brows are untidy, well, it's always like that LOL. To show you it's true color and pigmentation on its own, I skipped the brow gel part. It's just my eyebrows and Ellana 2-in-1 Eyebrow and Eyeliner Gel in Dark Brown.

On my lids, are very thin eye liner and I used the color Soft Black. I honestly like the very subtle colors these products give. However, if you are more into that really solid black liners, I'm sure these aren't for you. These can be a bit patchy as you can see, so you really have to be patient in blending.

I couldn't vouch that it's long-lasting because it cannot withstand my oily lids and skin. One of the things I do to improve its staying power though, is to apply black eyeshadow powder on top to mattify it. It's not completely smudge-proof too as you can see down below. I tried to run over the swatches with my fingers after they completely dried, but the colors still smudge. One of the perks I see is that it's easy to correct or wipe off and reapply as it doesn't completely settle on the skin. These are great options too if you would like to achieve feathery or smokey eyes.

If you are a newbie in makeup, having these products in your stash is beneficial as you can play around and improve how you draw your brows and eyeliner. I would recommend these for beginners because it's easier to correct than waterproof makeups. Staying power is not that impressive but given the price I paid for these, I should not expect so much. Luxe Organix Bright Eyes Eye Cream Review (With 80% Galactomyces, Niacinamide, Adenosine and Caffeine)

It's still my birth month and I kept asking myself if that is even a valid reason why I've been splurging for myself a lot lately. If my boyfriend would read this, I might get a scolding. No, just kidding! I don't know about you, but there are times when I think like I deserve it with or without a reason. Most especially whenever I'm feeling anxious or just simply when there's a moment I feel proud of myself.

Anyway, here's another review and it's about Luxe Organix Bright Eyes Eye Cream. I'm sure people know a lot about this brand, I mean it's practically everywhere and everyone is raving about their products. The first thing I've tried from their skincare line, as I remember, was their Bentonite Clay Indian Healing Clay Mask which I've used sometime around 2018. I've been on a hiatus in between so product testing was sort of 'limited'.

I honestly like the white and pink theme and how it comes in an easy-squeeze tube packaging. It's very travel-friendly and I could definitely bring it anywhere with ease. It's also loaded with information such as claims, ingredients, usage, caution, expiration and manufacturing dates, as well as where it's made from. Everything I need to know about it is basically printed on its box.

Ingredients

I've seen here that Luxe Organix Bright Eyes Eye Cream contains 80% Galactomyces and at first, I didn't know what that is. It sounds like something I needed to know about though, considering this is the main and first on the ingredient list.

Aside from addressing dark circles and puffiness while strengthening the moisture barrier, it also slows down signs of aging. A perfect ingredient for an eye cream indeed. It's also loaded with Niacinamide, Adenosine and Caffeine which we know already exists in a lot of skincare because they just simply work.

Claims

Expiration and Manufacturing Dates

This eye cream is very easy to apply, easy to be absorbed. It smells clean and soap-like. Actually, the consistency is soooo good too. It's soft and feels like melting butter. I might sound like I'm exaggerating, but that's how in loved I am with it. It's comparable to an expensive eye cream I had before which I forgot the name LOL. I remember that that just came as a freebie from a haul I had long, long ago. I didn't get to repurchase because the price is just too steep for me. The point is for just PHP199, it's unbelievable how Luxe Organic came up with a product like this.

I admit that I haven't tried a lot of eye cream brands, but right now, it's clear to me how I only have two eye creams that will probably forever be etched in my heart - the expensive one I had before on trial packet and this one from Luxe Organix.

Directions For Use and Caution

Aside from the consistency, I also love how it doesn't burn my eyes. I had an eye cream prior to this, which I find super thick and oily and because it doesn't get absorbed completely, it sometimes spread to my eyes unintentionally as I sleep or even blink. And then, I'd just hate how I'd tear up from the sting.

I know I would definitely buy this again when I ran out. I'm sure this would last long, probably a month, since you only need a very small amount for the under eyes. Right now, it's just everything I've been looking for in an eye cream - gentle, hydrating and effectively keeps puffiness away. I've been using it for weeks now and it definitely helps reduce puffiness, my eyes seem more wide awake.

With regular use, I am hoping that it could also smoothen out my fine lines, and reduce darkness in my under eyes. That will take a long, long time but consistency is the key. I definitely would recommend this affordable eye cream!

WELLSPRING Collagen (Strawberry) and Hyaluronic Acid (Peach) Food Supplement Gummies Review

Hi! I haven't been able to retrieve my old domain so I was out for months. But then I started missing my old habits, so yup, here I am! I just wanted to remind you today to always take care of yourself. There are lots of ways to do it and one of which I could think of is taking food supplements!

Today, I would love to share with you some of my newest discoveries to help with anti-aging and to achieve an overall healthy skin. I am turning 26 in a couple of days and I think this is a perfect age to take more anti-aging products and watch out for wrinkles.

With anti-aging, first thing people would probably have in mind are Collagen food supplements. It's really nice that they now come in gummy forms that we you could actually chew and enjoy, at least I don't have to take those that taste and smell fishy. I mean I'm sure I could tolerate them, but these gummies taste way much better. It makes me look forward to taking them everyday and I don't have to worry about being forgetful. It's like satisfying your sweet cravings and being healthy in one!

I've bought these products online at WellSpring official distributor. The Collagen one retails at around PHP599, while the Hyaluronic Acid at PHP649. I've checked multiple shops and the prices actually vary. I am not sure if there are counterfeits out there , so safest it to only buy at trusted retailers. I got mine though at a bundle deal for PHP799 and comes with free shipping. Each bottle has 60 gummies so that's good for 2 months already.

The packaging is very simple - transparent plastic with opaque white twist cap. Items are sealed when I got them and has an aluminum foil to ensure freshness.

WELLSPRING Collagen Strawberry Flavor Food Supplement (60 Gummies)

Aside from 500mg Collagen, it also has 12mcg Vitamin C (boosts immune system) and 7.5 mcg Biotin (good for the hair, skin and nails). I am not sure if you consider that a significant amount, but taking it with other vitamins or other food enriched with such vitamins, could make a difference.

I've read a few people complain about these products not having enough information. True enough, but I also appreciate how it overall looks simple and direct. I think whatever Collagen or Biotin or whatnot is, information about them is just a Google away.

This is how the gummies look like. To me, they look more like raspberries or something, but taste just like normal strawberry-flavored candies. They are sour but flavorful. Although, it has a weird, bitter taste at first which becomes less distinct once you start chewing the product.

WELLSPRING Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C & Vitamin E Peach Flavor Food Supplement (60 Gummies)

This product has more Vitamin C at 37.5mg compared to the other variant and has added 6.25 mcg Vitamin E. I think they are a good combination to improve overall skin health and promote elasticity.

Truth be told, I wasn't aware that you can take Hyaluronic Acid orally so this actually surprised me. Good thing though, I don't think I am using any skincare infused with this ingredient, so adding it might be a good idea.

It has a lot of sweeteners and I'm not so sure if that even has an impact on the body. Please enlighten me about it though. It's something you may want to take into consideration before buying this.

These gummies have a completely different texture compared to the strawberry variant, but really has a delicious peach flavor. It is less chewy and more solid on the mouth (I can't really describe it! Lol!). Nonetheless, both taste good and because they are fun to eat, I definitely prefer them than other forms of food supplements. My first love still would be smoothies though. :D

I've been taking them for no more than a month so it's still early to say a lot about the effects but I would continue taking them as I don't see any side effects like breakouts or pretty much anything weird going on in my body. I think they are super affordable too and are easy to buy.

I used to love joining giveaways on Instagram until a few years ago when I get swamped with work (well, mostly) while struggling with personal things. If you've read some of my past blogs, brush-related, you'll realize that you've met a makeup brush junkie.

Nowadays, you will rarely see me buying them considering the price (you know they aren't exactly cheap!), and the fact that it's unnecessary since I am working from home and seldom goes out. I am actually trying to get rid of some - the ones I think are pretty similar to my holy grails, and some that I just do not like for a reason. It's either because of quality or just simply because they don't appear pleasing to me (LOL!).

I just want to share what I've got here in my loot. First on the list is this medium-sized PVC pouch, lined with blush pink synthetic leather and Sample Room PH print. This pouch is so chic, I love it! It would fit your basic necessities. It also comes with this pink mini notebook. I like writing random stuff so, yup, cool!

My loot included four pieces of Soffia opulence brushes. Soffia Perfect Skin Foundation Makeup Brush (P700) is the same foundation brush which I already have and was initially purchased from Sample Room. Well, you can't have enough base brush! It's tiny but works really well in blending your foundation.

I've got a couple of big brushes here which I like. Soffia Opulence Soft Focus Makeup Brush (P2850) is just so fluffy and I imagine myself using it for bronzer or powder application. Next one is the Soffia Opulence All Over Face Makeup Brush (P2500) which is a denser brush that can also multitask as a finishing brush. Unlike the soft focus brush which is round and tapered, the all over brush is somehow pinched on the handle and reminds me of the powder brush I once owned from Sigma. Both are about on the same price range.

The last one is the Soffia Opulence Small Contour Brush (P1500) which works for blushes and contours. This is nice if you want to achieve a well-defined contour.

Rraw Skincare Tea Butter Under Eye Cream 50g Review

Today, I will be reviewing a product that was included in a haul I made last month. I have been using this product consistently since 24th of April and I think I'm now ready to share my experience with this eye cream from the local skincare brand, Rraw.

Claims: A butter-based cream for your under eye. Steeped with fresh green tea to help relieve dark circles and shea butter to soften and lift those eye bags up. A shot of botanical vitamins for your dark circles made with loose tea and natural butters.

Green tea helps eliminate dark circles and puffiness through increasing circulation to the skin by dilating blood vessels. It also moisturizes and tones dry skin, providing a healthy glow to the thin, sensitive skin around the eyes. Not only does green tea counter aging and provide healthy, glowing skin, it has been shown to protect the eye tissue on a deeper level.

Application: After moisturizing, apply a thin layer of Tea Butter, as this is a heavy cream, under your eyes, specifically on your eye bags. If Tea Butter feels a bit oily after application, it is normal and simply leave it to dry. The butter will simply soak into your skin allowing it to work it's magic. Store in cool area.

This eye cream comes in a clear, minimalist jar packaging with an aluminum twist cover. There's no plastic seal at all so you just have to trust that it's unopened. There's also barely enough information on its packaging. I don't know about you, yet surprisingly, they do not bother me that much. It must be because Rraw has been one of those famous local brands that sells organic products which turn out to be cult-favorites. They've already garnered the hearts of a lot of beauty enthusiasts, including me. Anyway, you can easily search them on their social media accounts or chat them for more product information.

I can't describe the scent exactly, but it’s subtle and smells like desert from the tub (LOL!). It doesn't smell like it has any synthetic fragrance to it, which is fine with me.

This eye cream is off-white/cream in color. It looks like candle wax untouched. It has a very soft, buttery texture. I find it a pleasure as it melts upon contact with skin. Consistency is more on the heavy/thick side so you don't need a lot for your two under-eyes. The good thing about it, is that it goes a long way. That being said, a single tub which contains 50g will surely last you a very long time. I don't think I would even finish this in 6 months if I only use it for my eyes. However, as advised, it's best to replace it after 6 months for hygiene purposes. Think about

I don't want to throw it just like that so I know I needed to find something to use this for to maximize it's use. I figured out that I could use this cream as a cuticle moisturizer and even use it as a hand and foot cream to soften rough and patchy skin. You can also safely use it anywhere in your body that needs extra moisture since it’s organic and natural.

I have mentioned earlier that the consistency is quite thick. It would be best to use it at night since it would definitely make your concealer crease. If you are just mostly skincare though, then I guess there's nothing to worry about.

One of the things I don’t like about it, is how it feels warm on the skin. It's summer so it's quite uncomfortable. Add the fact that I have oily skin. I believe that the thickness of the cream has something to do with it. I prefer something that is hydrating yet lightweight and not congesting at the same time.

Using this product makes me a bit cautious. Being careful how much I apply is the best solution. The last time I think I overapplied, I noticed that there were buildups on my creases and under-eyes after a few hours. It looked like some butter solidified. It takes a very long time for the skin to fully absorb this product so you have to be really patient and avoid moving around before the cream has set in.

I still probably would keep using Rraw Skincare Tea Butter Under Eye Cream because the thin areas around my eyes and brow feel more hydrated than ever. I just don’t see any noticeable effects in reducing puffiness or darkness, even when it is infused with Green Tea. It make take a while so let's see.

Leaving moisturizers out of your routine could lead to more fine lines and creases anyway. But be sure to only use a thin layer of this eye cream - you don’t want to overload on moisturizer that could make your under-eyes even more baggy and wrinkles more emphasized.

Aside from that, I have never encountered any eye cream as affordable as this one from Rraw so I guess this is okay for its price.

Before and After Two Months of Using Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum and Moisturiser

Hey, everyone! This is a blog I've been so excited to share. I actually waited and let my skin indulge in Niacinamide and AHA for two months before posting this review about the not-so-new Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum and Moisturiser.

When I first saw it in an ad, there's just a part of me that said to just give it a go. I'd say it was a perfect timing at that moment, considering I just ran out of my previous moisturizer. I'm not sure which one to review first but will just do based on order of usage.

Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum 30ml (₱1,499)

Claims: OLAY Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum, reduces stubborn spots for clearer, smoother skin. Scientifically advanced formula reduces stubborn spots, including acne marks, melasma, freckles and sun spots. AHA (Lactic Acid) acts on skin surface while Niacinamide penetrates 10 layers deep^, to effectively target root causes of spots across skin layers. Dermatologist-tested formula, does not clog pores. Fast absorbing and non-greasy. Formulated with: Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) + AHA (Lactic Acid) + Pro-Vitamin B5 + Vitamin C. Formulated without^^: Sulphates, Parabens, Phthalates, Petrolatum, Mineral oils.

Directions to Use: Use twice a day after cleansing and toning, and before moisturizer. Apply evenly on face until the serum is absorbed. Use with a UV product in the daytime.

How to use the auto-dropper: (1) Twist and turn the cap to automatically draw out the serum and; (2) Press and hold the pump to dispense on palm or fingers.

I actually wanted to tell you that I appreciate the packaging. It may look minimalist overall, but it actually has that high-end/luxury feel when you actually touch it. The bottle has a weight to it, the plastic silver cap has a great contribution in the overall aesthetic as well. The picture doesn't do much justice but the bottle has some iridescent shimmers which I think is just plain chic.

It may seem complicated to use - but all you have to do is simply twist it open and use the pump to dispense the product on clean hands.

All the information you need or want to know about the product is found on the box. They also have virtual displays which is a breath of fresh air from wordy descriptions. :D

I am sure you've heard about how special Niacinamide is in skincare. It can do a lot of things when used regularly and in high concentration. Some of its benefits include pore-refining and treating stubborn spots and discolorations caused by acne and pimple breakouts and sun damage. It can also helps renew the surface of the skin for that clearer, more glowing complexion.

When combined with actives like AHA, it can be more powerful in exfoliating and treating several skin conditions. Olay Luminous has AHA in the form of Lactic Acid. I remember way back in grade school when I had skin rashes all over my body. My mother had me used a product enriched with Lactic Acid and they were completely healed in no time. From then on, I know it's an active that I could trust.

Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum is also packed with Pro Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) which enhances skin healing process and does more, and Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), which is another powerful ingredient that targets dark spots and brightens dull complexion.

The serum has a citrus scent and actually reminds me of grapefruit. Both the serum and moisturizer have similar scents, but that of the serum's a bit stronger. It smells nice, at least for me. It has a thin, runny consistency and spreads effortlessly and evenly on the skin. It gets absorbed easily too without any tackiness. On its own, it dries to a semi-matte finish, while leaving the skin feeling and looking hydrated.

I like to use a drop of this after applying my Collagen by Watsons Collume + Peptides Booster Essence or mixing them both in 1:1 ratio. Since the serum has Vitamin C, I think they work great together as it boosts Collagen synthesis.

I'd like to do essence-serum-moisturizer combination but I just find them overly moisturizing and heavy so what I do is skip the moisturizer part during night time. So here's how my daytime routine goes: cleanser, moisturizer (Olay Luminous Niacinamide Moisturiser), and sunblock (only when necessary). And then for night time: cleanser, exfoliator or scrub (once or twice a week), essence and serum (Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum).

I know I am skipping a lot of steps and this may not be for the best, but it works for me. Using less products works better in controlling breakouts and it's a lot more comfortable too. It makes me think and feel like my skin is breathing better. I rarely go out and see the light anyway (LOL!). Later on, I'll show you pictures of the result.

Product comes in typical Olay moisturizer tubs and doesn't come with any spatula or applicator. As always, you have to make your hands are clean and well-sanitized to avoid product contamination.

The actives are similar in both products. The main difference would be the consistency. Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Moisturiser has a very smooth and light consistency. For someone like me who has oily skin, this doesn't dry out completely matte. It leaves a sheen on the skin but still feels a lot lightweight compared to other moisturizers. This is definitely suitable for all skin types.

For me, a small amount is enough to moisturize my skin for the entire day. You can still layer on sunblock and foundation without feeling heaviness or clogging. I'm using it for two months now, and still about half-full. Both products seem to be kind of steep at ₱1,499 each, but I think they're worth it.

Now, I would like to share with you my before and after photos. The left photos were taken March 17 (2nd day of using both) and then the right ones were taken May 09. Barely 2 months, but look at the difference.

Please do note that since April 24, I incorporated retinol in my skin care. It takes time getting used to retinols so I only apply a very small amount at least twice a week. I don't think my skin would drastically change in 15 days, so I'd still give the most credit to Olay Luminous Niacinamide + AHA Super Serum and Moisturiser.

Above photos are me in my bare skin, zero makeup, just moisturizer. You can definitely see how some of the spots, redness and discolorations were reduced, especially on the cheeks, jaw and side nose area. The texture of the skin is comparably smoother and pores seem to be a bit more refined. Above all that, my skin looks a lot healthier and plumper.

Olay claims that using these is 78% more effective in reducing spots than using niacinamide alone. I would definitely agree on this. My skin isn't completely spotless, nowhere near perfect, but I'm hoping that sometime in the next few months, the appearance of my skin will continue to improve. Patience and consistency is the key. Yes, I definitely recommend this duo and will surely repurchase.

Mini Haul: Free Soffia and Charm Essentials Brushes

I've never been this excited to cast my vote, but the unofficial result is really making me puke. This is not the place to discuss the specifics, but I'm honestly disheartened and in need of a quick break. I'm still in shock and couldn't get it off my mind but whatever. Today, I want to share with you a mini haul with items I got for free from Sample Room.

I have always been a makeup brush junkie - believe me, I have way more than what my face needed right now (LOL!). Still, I get too excited whenever I discover something new. I dare not lie - these brushes here are must-haves!

Charm Essentials Kabuki (PHP 600) and Luxe Mini Kabuki (PHP 336) Brushes - these brushes have really soft bristles and has the enough density to multitask from applying your powder, blush or just simply setting everything in place. They are so handy and probably, the only thing that I wish they came with, were mini pouches to protect transferring pigments from bristles to other surfaces. Other than that, I have all the reasons to keep them in my collection. I mean the color of the top bristles is simply awesome, despite the fact that not everyone is fond of pink. But whatever, hello there, pink-lovers! ;)

Soffia Perfect Skin Angled Foundation Brush (PHP 700) - this is a small foundation brush with a matte black handle which makes it easy and comfortable to grip and also has gold accents for that added luxurious aesthetic. The brush's functionality and softness actually reminds me of my Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush but is about half the price and is slightly bigger in surface area. It works to buff foundation seamlessly and the size is also a great option for travelling! I love this brush! Well, I love them all!

Charm Pro Wet/Dry Eyeshadow Brush (PHP 339) - applying your eyeshadow in different consistencies will be so much easy with this brush from this brand. Indeed a great hypoallergenic tool to use on our sensitive skin around the eyes, without the poking/irritating feeling. Could also be used wet and dry to play around with different looks.

Charm Pro Mini Fan Brush (PHP 250) - this is your typical small-but-terrible brush. I find this brush versatile too as aside from de-clumping mascara, it can also be used to place highlight on your nose bridge or brow bone. It's not necessary to own this brush, but still useful in my opinion.

All these I got from Sample Room for free and only paid shipping. You may wanna head out to the site to see if there are still stocks available ('cause they run out fast!). I hope you enjoy using them as much as I do!

Mini Skincare Haul from RRAW PH (50% Off Payday Sale)

You gotta be alert when it's payday time, don't you? Last April 15, Rraw went on a one-day sale wherein I was able to buy all items above at half their original price. I know this purchase isn't exactly an impulse buy. It was a long time coming for me because I had these items in my cart for about a year or two (like literally!) and was just waiting for: (1) my skin to get used to my new skincare so I can incorporate new products; and (2) a sale! No kidding.

I was actually fine with at least 10% off but I was lucky to even get them at 50%. I've known the brand for as long as I can remember, but only had the courage to try now as I'm very cautious when it comes to organic skincare.

There were a few beauty brands where products are not even FDA-registered. I was able to use organic products before which totally worsen my skin condition. Which is why I honestly think that there is nothing wrong with being careful.

Some skincare that caught my attention from Rraw were the new 1% Retinol Cream Acid (₱459), Tea Butter Undereye Cream (₱360), Pink Salt Natural Underarm Whitening Scrub Cream (₱360) and their Lip & Cheek Stain in Atla (₱160). I haven't used these products long enough to write a detailed post but I promise I would. So far though, I've only had zero to few issues with these products. We're still in the getting-to-know stage, so there's a lot more to discover during the road-test.

The New Belo Collagen Vanilla Smoothie For Skin, Hair and Nails

We have already heard so much about collagen from beauty experts: how it's vital for the overall health of our skin, hair and nails. If you still don't believe in its power, I can't comprehend why. There are lots of resources to find if you wanted to know more about collagen supplements and how it scientifically function, so might as well skip the introduction part. :D But I'm sure we'll all agree that it doesn't take a genius to know what it is and what it's for.

There are a lot of collagen drinks in the market - in probably different levels of potency, as well as difference in methods of consumption. My favorite though: smoothies! Kudos to Belo group for inventing these delicious ready-to-drink smoothies! I've tried their melon variant before and that was my ultimate favorite. However, the vanilla flavor is just almost as delicious!

Belo Collagen Vanilla Smoothie tastes very similar to creamers. I find it funny, but I like creamer in my coffee and tea, so who cares? Now that I've read the mini cardboard box my collagen sachets came with - it says that you can use these as creamer/sugar substitute. That's great knowing that we can have a refreshing, healthier drink option.

CLAIMS

I got my free sachet samples from Sampleroom, but normally, Belo Collagen comes in a cardboard box of 10s and retails at around ₱1,400. It's quite expensive, but good thing though, there's always sales and promotions, so you might want to check them out when they're discounted.

I drink mine for 5 days straight, basically once a day before bedtime. You have the option to take 2 sachets a day, one in the morning and the other at night. No one's gonna judge you because it's really delicious (LOL!). Just empty the sachet and dilute in a 250ml glass of cold water and stir until dissolved.

I always have a hard time mixing my collagen powder into cold water. The trick that works for me best is to stir it in warm water first before adding the cold water. It's making my smoothie a bit lukewarm this way. What I do is put my glass in the chiller for about 10 minutes more, so it would be a lot more refreshing to drink.

I haven't taken a lot to see a significant improvement in my skin, hair or nails, but I am sure to repurchase in the future just because it's a joy to drink (LOL!) and I always look forward to my glass of smoothie everyday. It's versatile in a way that you can mix it on almost any of your drinks for that added creaminess and flavor.

Cetaphil Daily Exfoliating Face Cleanser For All Skin Types Review

Hey, it's me again! I'm bored so here I am lol. Today, I will be doing another review about a skincare product from one of the brands I truly trust: Cetaphil. This is the first time I've tried Cetaphil Daily Exfoliating Cleanser (₱‌521/178ml) and I've stumbled upon it when I was browsing through their official shop online.

This isn't exactly like the newest from Cetaphil, but I don't think people are talking about it as much as with the Gentle Skin Cleanser one. That's basically the reason why I decided to try it out in the first place. And you know that each time I try something new, whether it's a pleasant experience or not, I'm just happy to share my thoughts with everyone.

This product right here is infused with skin conditioners and vitamins that gently cleanses and combats dirt, oil, and impurities with the exfoliating micro-fine beads. It promotes a faster skin cell turnover, buffing away dullness and dryness while leaving the skin soft, smooth, and radiant after every wash.

Cetaphil Daily Exfoliating Cleanser claims to be a non-irritating, hypoallergenic and is a gentle facial wash that is suitable for all skin types and is safe for everyday use.

Claims

The ingredient list is a bit long with tons of tongue-twister words for me (LOL!). I've noticed a few ingredients which always work great for my skin type such as Glycerin, Panthenol and Vitamin E. There's something that sounds herbal (and alien) to me such as the Bambusa Arundinacea, which I found out later on as the scientific name of Bamboo Extract.

Google says that it is a great natural moisturiser which soothes and smoothes skin while helping it hydrate. It supports and assists the healing of skin and has antibacterial properties to cleanse, purify and detoxify. Forgive me if I have to google them, for I am not very good with ingredients. Hahaha!

Ingredients

The product has a minimalist design just like most Cetaphil products. The only thing I dislike about the packaging is that it comes in this tube type bottle, which I think isn't the best option given that the formula is a bit runny. Sometimes when I open it in haste, the product slid down the opening and spilled. I think a pump would be better.

Manufacturing and Expiration Dates

The formula has thin, gel-type consistency. It's close to clear in opacity, only with very tiny microbeads you'll barely see unless you look closely. I don't know why but the scent reminds me of Lactacyd Baby Bath I've used before when I had skin rashes. It's possible that my mind is playing tricks on me right now, but I really think that they smell so similar.

This cleanser doesn't create a foamy lather which I don't mind. I am used to cleansers that doesn't lather much and I like them better because they don't feel drying at all. I like using it together with the Gentle Skin Cleanser as my primary cleanser then follow it up with the exfoliating one. I don't know if anyone else do this, but I like using both because I felt like my skin is not just cleaner, but also softer.

First thing I noticed when I tried Cetaphil Daily Exfoliating Cleanser for the first time, was the burning sensation on my skin. It was intense and after only a few seconds, I had to wash it off already. It felt like I applied Maxipeel while my skin is already peeling (LOL!). But maybe that was my skin in the process of getting used to the product - which actually turned out to be true. The next few uses felt better. I have been using this product for about a month now (only once a day) and every time I use this cleanser, I still feel some warmness on my skin but it became much more tolerable.

The microbeads on it are non-abrasive - you'll barely feel them, to be honest. Cleanser rinses easily without leaving any residue. I also like how it soften and smoothen my skin every wash. It's an exfoliating cleanser, but it's surprisingly non-drying.

For only ₱‌521, you get a good amount of product that will last for a while. I recommend this product if you are looking for a substitute cleanser that will gently remove oil and dirt from your skin, as well as scrub away dead skin cells for that clearer-looking complexion.

Using Shopee SPayLater For The First Time

I am sure that you've heard about Shopee SPayLater at one point especially if you are an avid online shopper. I wasn't even interested at first to be honest. Processing fees and interests have always been red flags to me. The only loans I am willing to deduct from my paychecks are salary and multipurpose loans from SSS and PAGIBIG. I just wanted to make sure my contributions were properly utilized.

I am not even confident enough to apply for credit cards because I am scared that the interests would be too much and would add up to my piles of bills. I would rather wait until I have enough cash to buy something I want or need. That way, I won't get any unexpected charges.

Think cash. That's what my mother used to tell me all the time. However, I kept on seeing these promotions online and thought of maybe trying out SPayLater for a change, and see whether it's worth it or not.

Before we start, I would like to let you know that I am not a financial expert or affiliated with Shopee so everything I say is based on my experience or what I have encountered.

WHAT IS SHOPEE SPAYLATER?

It's like a payment method/service provided by Shopee wherein qualified users can use this to pay for purchases at a later date. This is good if you don't have cash on-hand or you find it uncomfortable to pay first before getting your purchases.

Users have the option to settle payments in installment basis - you can choose to pay on your chosen due date (every 5 or 15 of the month), pay in 3, 6 or 12 months. Of course, the longer option you choose, the higher the interest rate will be. If you failed to settle on your due dates, late fees would also apply. There might be consequences as well such as suspension of your account or limit to Shopee services and vouchers.

Credit limit is up to P50,000 monthly depends on your approval. When I signed up, I was approved with a P10,000 credit limit. I think the expected monthly salary disclosed during application as well as your account history has something to do with the approved credit amount. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR SPAYLATER

To be honest, it took me several tries before I get approved. I am not sure what exactly went wrong on the first few tries - it could be my I.D.s or some information I must have typed in wrong. Then about less than a couple of weeks ago, I gave it another shot and was finally approved. I started buying groceries and a few things I need using SPayLater.

It's very easy to use this service from Shopee. You just have to do the usual shopping and just select SPayLater as the payment method uponchecking out. If you are not ready to pay the item in full, choose from the monthly installments that are available. I always choose BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) because the interest rates and processing fees will be lower.

You have two options to choose for your due date. You can consider your payout date (if you are an employee) before choosing what's best for you. I chose 15th of the month though because...uhmm, no particular reason. :D

As much as possible, I'd like to pay for my purchases ahead of time so I don't have to worry later on. It's a personal preference but that's what I usually think. I don't like COD as well because I prefer cashless payment. I get impatient too while waiting for my bill which I can only expect to come at least 10 days prior to my due date.

I was only playing around when I found out I could pay my SPayLater loan in advance. I included some screenshots down below. I found out that every time you receive an order paid with SPayLater, it automatically accumulates on the upcoming bill amount which you can pay in full even if it's not your due date yet. I like doing this so as to increase my credit limit back up again and avoid expensive bills when it's already almost my due date.

NOTE: There are lots of payment methods to choose from to pay your loan. It doesn't have to be Shopeepay. I just like to keep some cash in my Shopeepay account just in case I need to buy something.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I find Shopee SPayLater convenient to use. The application only takes about 5 minutes as long as you have a valid I.D. and make sure you follow the instruction properly, supply all valid information and fix yourself for the facial verification part.

I haven't been able to use SPayLater for a long time yet but so far, I enjoy using it most especially because of the vouchers only exclusive to SPayLater users. I noticed that they give out vouchers from time to time wherein users can take advantage of 20-100% cashbacks, capped at around 75-350 coins.

Imagine the amount of coins one could earn and use for future purchases! I'm easily swayed by these cashback promos and I'm not sorry at all. Haha!

It was too hot these days so I decided to buy a pair of cotton boxer shorts for women. They were on sale for about ₱‌159/ea. The total was ₱‌292 for the pair (applied free shipping and coins) and I got some cashbacks worth ₱‌200 (because of the 100% cashback voucher capped at 200 coins). Yesterday, I received one of my orders from last week - an OPPO Band B1 Watch - which I got on sale for ₱‌1099. I got it further discounted because of an SPayLater voucher where I got 400-peso off my total purchase. Imagine the savings. I only paid ₱‌699.35 for my loan.

I assume that we'll encounter less and less of these types of promotions in the future, so you know it when they say, "enjoy while it lasts."

I just had a minor issue with SPayLater so far and this is with regards to the interest/free shipping vouchers. Take this one for example. Say I am to buy this earrings which costs around ₱‌589...

I noticed that if I choose a free shipping voucher with the ShopeePay/SPayLater label, I'll pay ₱‌653.85 for my loan (please see screenshots below). If I choose a different shipping promotion though without SPayLater on it , I would only pay ₱‌612.27. It appears misleading to me because how come they are providing free shipping vouchers, yet it seems like I'll have to pay for them through loan? This is just an observation and I don't think it's a technical error either. I've been trying these shipping promos with other products too in my cart and there's really a difference on the loan amount. It doesn't make sense to me at all. If you have an explanation for this, please enlighten me.

Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil 30ml Review

Here's another product review that is long overdue. Today, we'll talk about Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil 30ml. This was given to me by my aunt from Canada and I have been using it since January of this year. This is the first time I'm going to use a skincare product from this high-end brand.

I don't know much about Emma Hardie, so I checked the site and found out that this facial oil alone costs about ₱‌2,900. I rarely use and buy skincare products this expensive so thanks to my aunt, I get to try it for free. :D

According to the packaging, Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil is a light-weight, multi-active everyday facial oil complex, containing 9 essential oils of Palma Rose, Orange, Mint, Vanilla, Geranium, Camomile, Lemon, Rose and Lavender that help to condition, hydrate and smooth the skin's texture.

Also includes 5 plant oils, Grape Seed Oil, Apricot, Almond, Olive Oil and Sunflower Oil that contain Omega 3, to help restructure the skin and promote elasticity and moisturize. Also including the unique Camelina 'Gold of Pleasure' oil for its powerful anti-oxidant properties to protect the skin from free radicals.

I am quite overwhelmed with the abundance of oils in this single luxurious tiny bottle of skincare. On the other hand, it made me more excited to try this product knowing that my skin will absorb such goodness.

This was basically the first time I am trying out a facial oil ever so I am both scared and excited. I have very oily skin, characterized with very large pores and am also acne-prone. I had bad experience with oils before where I use them for a DIY mask and my skin just ended up with clusters of pimples all over. It was a terrible breakout, so then I promised not to slather oil on my skin ever again. And then the era for oil-based products became a trend and I knew for a fact, that at one point, I had to try again. And probably, hope for the best.

INGREDIENTS

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Limonene, Geraniol, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citronellol, Linalool, Bht, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citral, Farnesol.

Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil can be used on its own but you can also mix it with other products such as moisturizer and foundation.

The product has a golden color, comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. The scent is very citrusy. I don't exactly hate it, but it's too strong for my liking and very perfume-like.

Product has a runny consistency, spreads well and evenly on the skin and leaves a shiny, hydrating layer. Well, it's oil basically, so I kind of expect it. It feels light and non-sticky on its own, but when mixed with moisturizers or other products, it becomes a bit greasy. I have very oily skin so you can only imagine when my natural oils mix with this product. LOL. I could afford looking like a slick ball at night, but obviously not when I'm out. I think this product will be really beneficial for those with dry skin though.

This product makes foundation easier to spread, but my skin tends to look a lot oilier during midday. My foundation seem to move around as well and build up on the folds of my skin. It's hot and humid here in the Philippines so that's also another factor that affects the longevity of the foundation I wear.

I don't want this product to go to waste, so I had to endure the oiliness of my face whenever I use this. I know that oils are good even for those with oily skin too so tiis-ganda lang talaga.

On the brighter side though, this facial oil didn't cause my skin to breakout. I also noticed that it helps with redness and smoothening out existing blemishes. I like how it keeps my skin looking glowing, smooth and supple whenever I wake up. A very small amount is more than enough for my entire face and this bottle would surely last me for ages.

It's been 3 months now, and my bottle is still about half-full. I don't regularly use this product now because I have serums and moisturizers that I am currently road-testing. However, on days when my skin feels tight and in need of extra moisture, I tend to seek the help of this product.

I haven't used any facial oils before so I have nothing to compare it with. It isn't exactly a favorite or a holy grail, but I still recommend it if you are looking for a facial oil that's light and would help moisturize your skin and make it look healthier.

It was hard to pick which three I loved the most, so let me just add one more please. The first one is a choker type of necklace with approximately 4mm corn-shaped pearls with 14k golf-filled spring clasp lock. It was customized to about 15 inches length because I'm into chokers these days lol. 14-15 inches necklaces are best for my neck size.

Then, I also got the chain necklace with tiny rice pearls that are slightly peachy in person. Length was customized to about 15.5 inches and also in tarnish-resistant setting. I think this one is perfect if you are into layering jewelries.

I also chose two of my favorite pearl earrings up to date. One is a hoop earring with 14k gold-filled hardware and tiny white rice pearls. I like that I could remove the pearl and reattach it depends on the look I am trying to achieve.

JIUZHEN FRESHWATER PEARL

I was planning to feature all-local shops, but Jiuzhen deserves a spot in my most recommended. I have bought several jewelries from different local shops but some of them I honestly didn't like. The quality of the pearls are not very nice - have lots of fish bites, rough textures and broken parts. Also, some of the metals used are already tarnishing with only a few uses.

I recently bought some pieces from Jiuzhen. Their shop is situated in China, which is the world's largest freshwater pearl market. By checking their Shopee account, I found out that they have their own pearl farm. The brand was founded by 3 girls, with the support of their aunt, who's been in the pearl farming industry for decades.

Their designs are truly unique and eye-catching and most items, if not all, are hand-crafted beautifully as advertised. The thing with most of my purchases from overseas - they don't look like on pictures. With Jiuzhen though, there's barely any room for disappointment. I still have a few more in my cart and would certainly buy them once I got some funds.

The items are also made to order and since shipping is from overseas, you should expect more delays before you get your parcel. I swear that waiting time is worth it.

One of my favorites is this very affordable natural baroque pearl style choker necklace with 14kgf lock which originally was 40cm in length, approximately 15.6 inches which I requested to be cut down to 15 inches. The distinct characteristic and shape of each pearl is so rare and beautiful when put altogether as a necklace. For me, this is a must-have and for only 360php, you can't go wrong with this!

Then, I have the second one - a double layer twisted 3-4mm rice pearl necklace in 36cm length and has a 925 sterling silver lock and extension. The rice pearls on this necklace are so high quality, very lustrous and smooth indeed. Price is just right for the quality. I can't wait to wear it on a formal occasion! Both necklaces are great for stacking too.

The third necklace is what I have been looking for quite a while - a dainty 2.5-3mm pearl stack floating necklace in sterling silver chain. I also like that there's a needle pin that you can adjust to make the necklace shorter or longer. This is such a must-have too, you guys!!!

MACASNAIE COLLECTIONS

Is it just me or their brand name is really hard to pronounce? I am not sure how long they have been in the industry but given the limited number of ratings, they might be somehow new, at least on Shopee. I also noticed that they might need a bit more help in the marketing aspect.

What I love about this shop though is how responsive the seller is. One time, they delivered a wrong item and so I raise my concern and seller told me to keep the item as a gift. She said that she would just send me the correct order without me having to pay anything extra from item to shipping. How cool is that?

Macasnaie Collections is also a dealer of genuine Freshwater and South Sea Pearls Jewelry in the Philippines and they also customize based on customer's requests and preferences. Shipping time and preparation is shorter compared to the other two shops yet so far, I got items that met my expectations.

The first drop earrings was absolutely beautiful. Handcrafted in gold plated stainless steel setting, it's hypoallergenic and tarnish-resistant too. I like everything about it, the size is just right and it just looks absolutely charming when worn. The chain part is removable just in case you would just like to wear a single pearl on both ears. Pearls used are so shiny and almost blemish-free. Did I say that it's only 350php? Seriously.

The second one is a pair of double drop-shaped dangling earrings in stainless steel silver setting. Just like the other one, pearls are full of luster, smooth and just simple-looking. It's great to pair with the most casual outfits.

I am not sure how you call braided bracelets like these but my mind says Chinese strings lol. I remember back when I was in grade school, my classmates and I would purchase nylon strings like this and would just make them into braided bracelets. Seeing these brings me back to my childhood.

The addition of a baroque pearl at the center is a really nice touch. I actually love the dark one the best! The shape and the ombre shade is truly one of a kind jewel created by nature. I would probably wear these bracelets on the beach!

Ticks and fleas love the soft and warm fur of our dogs and cats. It is a perfect place for them to breed and feed on your pet’s blood which might cause health problems for your fur-baby ranging from allergic reactions to serious tick-borne illnesses.

As fur parents, our number one priority is to keep our beloved cats and dogs safe, and this includes keeping them away from ticks, fleas, and other blood-feeding parasites.

Most fur parents usually browse the internet and look for treatment against these parasites. Unfortunately, there’s too much information and misinformation out there, especially when it comes to home remedies.

Here are some home remedies for ticks and fleas.

1. Water and soap

MYTH: Soap alone can stop the tick and flea infestation.

FACT: Although soap may kill fleas, veterinarians say it doesn’t repel them or prevent infestations. Think of it as more of a temporary fix than a permanent solution. Therefore, it does not break the flea life cycle and recurring infestations are still possible.

FACT: While brewer’s yeast is not toxic, it can still be harmful to some dogs and cats. In large dogs, the amount of brewer’s yeast needed to have an effect may cause stomach and intestinal upset. After discussing this supplement with your vet, brewer’s yeast may be appropriate for daily administration.

Not only is there no clinical evidence that garlic has any effect on fleas, but it is also a potentially hazardous substance to pets, particularly cats. Garlic is in the allium family together with onions, leeks, and chives. In some animals, these plants can cause severe anemia and other ill reactions.

There’s nothing wrong with trying natural ways to control ticks and fleas, but if it will also harm our pets, it will be completely useless. Some natural products, no matter how organic they can be, might be dangerous when given to our pets without our veterinary prescription.

3. Using lemon as flea-repellant

MYTH: Lemon can kill ticks and fleas.

FACT: It may make your home smell fresh and appealing but it is very unlikely to remove a flea infestation. A study from Iowa State University about the toxic properties of d-limonene in insects and earthworms confirms this by telling us that limonene, a substance found in lemons, only has limited insecticidal properties. Generally, it can’t kill insects like how a pesticide does, but high concentrations of it can repel some of them. (6)

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser Review

So I am doing yet another review of a product I have used some time from last year to February of this year. This review is long overdue since I stopped blogging for a while and so there might be more of these coming soon. I think that my experience while using them would be a waste if I don't share it.

I actually emptied two bottles of Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser before I went back to my old Cetaphil Gentle Clean Cleanser. I wanted to keep using the former but the latter went on sale so then plans changed and that's what I repurchased. Talk about a silly excuse, right? I am on a budget so I gotta keep being practical. LOL.

PRODUCT INFORMATION, CLAIMS, DIRECTIONS FOR USE, INGREDIENTS

The cleanser we have right here is part of Cetaphil's Bright Healthy Radiance skincare line. Apart from this, I have also tried the body wash, day cream and night cream which is a cult-favorite. I emptied three jars of the night cream as that was a favorite of mine too. I didn't like the day cream though because the formula is too thick and heavy for my liking. It's unfortunate because I wasn't able to keep photos of them. I didn't know that I would be writing again. I might repurchase next time for blog purposes but for the meantime, I'm happy with the products I substituted them with.

Product is sealed with an aluminum foil. I didn't really like the cap very much because it tends to get loose and wouldn't close. I probably have gotten a defective container but whatever lol. Design looks clean and simple, nothing special. I like that it comes in a squeeze-type tube container so product is pretty easy to dispense.

I really love the formula. It lives up to its name because it has an opaque white color and has a very creamy consistency. I am not very particular with product scents, but this one barely has any fragrance to it which I prefer. Also, a little of it goes a long way. I think half a pea-size is enough for my whole face and neck. It suds to a creamy lather and is easy to rinse without leaving any residue.

This is a cleanser that isn't over-drying and is hypoallergenic so it's suitable for all skin types. It also feels nice to apply in circular motions because of the creamy suds. The "comforting cocooning lather" is true. I like how gentle it feels on my skin and doesn't aggravate breakouts. For a brightening cleanser, this is surprisingly non-drying. My skin indeed looks clearer and more radiant after every use. It's great in removing light, non-waterproof makeups and other impurities too.

Priced at only 462php for a 100g tube, I think that this is a great value for money from a trusted skincare brand. It's worth a repurchase, if you are looking for an affordable cleanser that does more than just the usual cleansing.

Collagen by Watsons Collume + Peptides Booster Essence Review

Hey! It's me again, Hanna. Just want to share a quick review about this new product which I have been using for the last couple of weeks. It's one of the products I've got from my most previous Sampleroom haul and it's actually the first time I ever heard about it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is something new in the market. I don't know about you, but the ~kilig~ is different when you are trying out a new skincare.

I tried googling about Collagen by Watsons Collume + Peptides Booster Essence, but haven't seen much information. Truth be told, the claims were too good to be true yet surprisingly, I've been looking forward to doing my skincare sessions with this.

CLAIMS, USAGE, INGREDIENTS

MANUFACTURING AND EXPIRATION DATES

Let us appreciate the packaging - I like the iridescent color of the box. The details are complete so it's not too hard to understand what this product is made of and how to use it best. The bottle has a minimalist design overall - with a sleek silver cap and a dropper and the shimmery, but transparent plastic container. I like how I can easily take a peek on the inside.

The ingredients are popular and I believe in their potency because most of my previous skincare that work on my skin has these too.

We're sure to be familiar with Vegan Collagen (Collume) Complex, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid. But to be honest, Peptides, Panthenol and Adenosine don't ring a bell to me. I mean I'm sure to have read them somewhere, I am just not sure about the effects on the skin so I did a bit of a research.

Peptides - works to signal cells to produce more collagen and repair damaged cell structures (more information here)
Panthenol - often called a pro-vitamin B5 after oxidation, it's not just a common ingredient of our usual household hair and nail care products, it's also a highly moisturizing agent that has anti-inflammatory benefits and anti-aging effects
Adenosine - has excellent anti-wrinkle benefits

We can definitely say that this product is suitable for all since most skin types found these ingredients tolerable. This product claims to have the perfect ratio of collagen and peptides, making your skin firmer and more elastic in just one drop. With regular use, this would boost skin elasticity and strengthen skin's moisture.

I am not sure why, but the scent suddenly reminds me of Sampaguita (a sweetly scented tropical flower) because of its floral scent. It smells okay for me overall - very subtle and goes away after seconds. The essence is clear with tiny white beads that melts upon contact with the skin. It somehow adds texture to the boring consistency.

Essence is water-like when applied and dries to an almost matte finish. It feels lightweight on the skin, but feels sticky afterwards. It's not a major turnoff for me as I find it tolerable and it goes away after a few minutes. It also feels like whatever I put on next gets absorbed much better.

With just one drop, I can say that my face feels indeed hydrated in an instant. Using it for more or less two weeks now (2x a day), added glow and radiance to my tired skin. I like how it works wonderfully with my current skincare - which I will be sharing in the next few days. This is the latest addition to my simple skincare routine which comprises of only cleansing - exfoliating - essence - serum - moisturizer.

During my daytime, I tend to skip on the moisturizing part because it's super hot here in the Philippines and I oil up quite fast. You are probably thinking that I made a major violation of skipping sunscreen. LOL. But yes, I do, unless I go out in the open field. It's because I work remotely and on a graveyard shift. I find it uncomfortable to use sunscreen at night and during the regular daytime when I usually go to sleep (because who would apply sunscreen to bed?). However, professionals still recommend to use sunscreen in the morning even when you're at home because harmful UV rays can still penetrate inside. Please take note of that.

This product can be basically used in two ways: as a pre-essence to use alone or as a booster that you can mix with your regular moisturizer. I don't have a preference, to be honest. I tested it both ways and I don't think it makes any difference.

When applied as a pre-essence, it settles fast and when mixed with moisturizer, it somehow thins out the consistency of the latter and makes it smoother to apply.

THE EFFECT? Let me tell you a story. I just finished my Spanish Class last 03/03/22. I had lots of sleepless nights before that since I had to juggle both work and class plus household errands. I'd be lucky if I'd get at least 5 hours of sleep every day. My skin then was at its worst - I had lots breakouts on my cheek down to the jaw which also left me marks/spots and redness. My skin looked dull and rough too, because I barely had a proper skincare. Those little times I get were so important for taking a nap rather than doing simple pleasures.

It was about last week of February when I started incorporating Collagen by Watsons Collume + Peptides Booster Essence in my routine and since then, I've been seeing little improvements in my skin condition. Of course, it's way far from perfect, I still get breakouts (and a lot of them!) but my skin feels and looks nicer. It's only about two weeks but I notice my skin improving each day.

I like how my skin is instantly hydrated every after application. It doesn't feel hot or heavy on the skin which is what I'm always looking for in products. I also notice that my pores looks more refined. Skin is overall looking healthier and more supple.

I still have a long way to go before I get the skin I desire but I'm enjoying my clearer skin right now. I am sure to continue using this product for the next few weeks and see how my skin would turn out or if the blemishes would really lighten up completely. I would definitely update you, guys.

Life Update On A Monday

You won't believe this: I should be on my shift right now but I am writing because this day can't be any worse. Today is Monday - basically the start of the week and my computer isn't working as it should be. Who can be productive when you're encountering technical issues? I had my brother helped me but he can't seem to figure it out with me ranting and rushing him around. So I told him I got this when obviously I don't! I can't seem to handle pressure that well lately. It's hard to be cool about things especially when you have zero idea on what to do.

Then, when I was about to clock in, we lost internet connection! I can't get myself to blame anyone because it isn't right. Still, I can't help but get frustrated. I was tagged absent because of this and I couldn't even update my supervisors real time because the signal in my location, well, sucks.

I let my head cool down for about 30 minutes before proceeding, and thinking of this situation as a miracle in disguise. Maybe this could be an extension to my rest days. Ugh, man, 3 days off? On normal working days, I would probably kill for it (kidding!). It indeed sounds tempting, but something I couldn't afford right now given the finances lined up this month. It's easy to think that way but I just can't. I am this kind of person who must follow schedules and if things don't turn up the way they should - me sitting pretty would never happen. How things would have been easier to accept if only I was spontaneous?

Reality check though - what's done is done. The technical issues and internet connection is beyond my control. I just have to accept so the anger won't eat me up.

I am so sorry that my mind is in chaos right now. Writing this helps me feel more at ease. I'd like to read this back one day and realize that it was not that big of a deal. That whatever provokes me right now, won't provoke me forever. It may still not be resolved the moment I was typing this, but soon it will - maybe in the next few hours, maybe tomorrow. I don't know for sure, but definitely not forever.

Whoo, that was one hell of a rant. Sorry for this quick break, but what's the purpose of this blog? Me sharing snippets of my life and the things I hate and love - all squeezed up in this beauty-turned-personal blog. Life isn't all rainbows and colors anyway. Hello helloooo! So this is a blog that's long overdue. I was supposed to write about this product last year, but did not have the chance to. There are things in life that are supposed to happen no matter how much you pray in heavens not to. I am too embarrassed to get into details but 2022 is a year of changes and risk-taking for me and I set my mind to move forward. This is kind of late but sit tight, 2022 - this is game on and I am so ready to conquer you!

I think Aloe gels are something that are always trendy in the world of moisturizers. Aside from the fact that they effortlessly work, you can't find anything as affordable quantity-wise. I mean I remember being in college (And that was what? Five years ago?) and some friends of mine are into aloe gels. If my memory serves me right, the one by The Face Shop was the most popular back then or it must have been Nature Republic's? Gods, help me. One thing is for sure though, time makes the formula improve. Thanks much to the demand in skincare that these beauty companies are always into innovating new stuff to offer to skincare enthusiasts (like us!).

Today, let's talk about Fresh by Skinlab Jeju Aloe Ice Aloe Gel Lotion which has always been in my beauty stash, always got my back in case of emergency. LOL.

CLAIMS, HOW TO USE, INGREDIENTS

LOT NO., MANUFACTURING AND EXPIRATION DATES

Most of the aloe gels I get to know comes in this big plastic tubs so you really get a generous amount for such a really good price. This tub costs around 199php and is available both online and in-store. I think I saw this once on a trip to Watsons. I am a fan of online shopping more than walk-ins so I got this in an online reputable retailer.

TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY

Texture and consistency is how you would expect from a typical gel lotion - very light - turns into an almost watery consistency when slathered on the skin and dries to an almost matte, yet hydrating finish. I can feel my skin turning from dry and tight to hydrated in an instant. The floral scent is subtle and kind of relaxing too.

Now, take this tip seriously: refrigerate before use. This is a step you may want to follow especially if you are dealing with sunburns or using on days when heat is so intense. I swear the cooling effect is nothing you'll ever felt with another product.

Product comes with a spatula which I misplaced a long time ago LOL. Just make sure to always use clean hands!

I don't regularly use this product on my face because I am using a different moisturizer and I don't want to over-moisturize. I mostly use this after waxing or if I am experiencing flakiness on some parts of my skin to ease discomfort. I wanted to keep my routine simple - cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating (1-2x a week). I have been doing this for months ever since pandemic started and I felt like it's been working for me rather than layering skincare which I have been doing before.

Of course, I couldn't help trying out new products every now and then. But if I notice my skin not doing any better, I would keep it simple and my skin would just calm down like magic. I have very oily, acne-prone skin (Screw genes, kidding!) and layering products in my past life has always placed my skin in a bad light.

Note: We all have different skin types and our skin reacts differently to certain ingredients. I am not saying to follow me because using products is quite tricky - it is mostly trial and error. I have been into skincare since I was in grade school but it doesn't mean I have it all figured out. There are loads of craps and gems out there to test and only one face to test it to, so I will always be experimenting just like you guys. Don't lose hope, take note of what works for you and let go of those that don't.

So would I repurchase Fresh by Skinlab Jeju Aloe Ice Aloe Gel Lotion? I probably would! Did not really make it in my holy grails but it's indeed useful in alleviating dryness and adding glow without the stickiness I get from using other aloe gels. When it's too hot, it gives a refreshing feeling on the skin as well. If you are looking for an aloe gel product to add to your stash, this ain't a bad option.

Trying Out Apollo Lip Balms and Castor Oil For The First Time

It's been a while since the last time I did a skincare review. Don't get me wrong, I still do my everyday skincare (well, pretty much), but my work just has never been this demanding and it eats up too much of my time and energy. I've always wanted to leave but my slacking won't definitely cover my daily expenses and the family's dream to finally stop living in a rented apartment and move into a new home.

Yup, for the past months, I've been working hard to save for our home improvement. It's in the making and even if we're done paying off the renovation expenses, there's still a lot of furniture to buy so I gotta work my ass off. Sorry if I am telling you this in a supposed-to-be-skincare post, but my excited fingers just couldn't stop. Anyway, let's just move forward and start with today's agenda.

Apollo Lip Balm in Original

I got all these Apollo products from Sample Room. I'm in a tight budget right now so I guess I'll have to live with free products until maybe the house is done? Just kidding.

I am sure that I don't need to introduce Apollo to most of you - I mean their Petroleum Jellies has been part our household essentials at one point. Price point, efficiency and ease of purchase are probably the primary factors. It's so great to hear that their petroleum business has now expanded to lip balms and beauty oils. I don't know if it's just me, but I love lip balms so much and I can not definitely leave the house without one.

Anyway, these lip balms are the cutest. I mean the idea of the packaging is not really original because there's Vaseline and whatnot, right? But I love that it's so handy and convenient to bring anywhere. I could bring the tiniest of my bag and this would just fits so perfectly. I could even just slip it on my dress' pockets and voíla!

This tiny pot of petroleum jelly never leave my work table, TBH. I always apply it every freakin' time my lips feel so parched and it would instantly provide relief. Moisture last long but given that I unconsciously licks my lips from time to time and I drink quite a lot, the need to reapply is so frequent. I have super dry lips all year round and this product helps the skin to recover. When I accidentally picks on the hanging dead skin and it causes bleeding, I would just apply a generous amount, and the wound would heal quickly.

Apollo Lip Balm in Pretty Pink

Apollo Lip Balms also came in a tinted variant. The formulation is just the same and both feels creamy and smooth, the only difference apart from the color is the strawberry scent of the latter. But probably because of the added chemical, I find it a bit drying when used overtime. My lips has always been sensitive to tinted lip products so I try to limit my use since I am working from home and there's no need to dress up.

However, my mom actually enjoys it. She traded her Vaseline one to this because she said that the Vaseline isn't actually giving her lips some color. She said that she could skip lipstick and just use the Apollo instead because it's enough to give her lips some rosy shade any skin color would look good on. I agree though. I don't suggest trading makeup and skincare products but because we're mom and daughter so no big deal LOL.

Both lips balms are so affordable and a little goes a long way, and they surely did last for a couple of months. I think that it's a great value for money and definitely a must-have.

Apollo 100% Pure Cold-Pressed Castor Oil

For those who believe that using beauty oils, particularly Castor Oil, to lengthen and thicken eye brows and lashes isn't an old myth, yes, Apollo has Castol Oil is here to save your day. It's so cheap and you get a tube that will last forever.

I tried using beauty oils way back when I was younger and though it was an on and off process, I noticed that my lashes became stronger and less prone to damage. There were bald spots in my brows that were soon filled. I stopped because I'm satisfied with the average thickness and length of my lashes. Also, it wasn't convenient and I don't like it when oils smears into the rest of my face. I have oily skin too and I was not comfortable about it especially when it gets inside the eyes.

If you are more patient that I am, using Castor Oil for the brows and lashes would help shape and tame hair overtime. I am sure that all hardwork pays off in the end.
