Kortni Jeane Swimwear | Mom + Mini Style

One year older, and one year wiser... hehe. I spent all weekend with our family, with some much needed R&R at the lake... plenty of fun, boat rides and tubing, grilling out, and way too many games of ping pong. It was absolute perfection!
But I'm back now and ready to make this week a great one, so today I'm joining forces with Kortni Jeane [and two adorable little models might I add] to share some of my favorite mama + mini styles for the cutest swimmer looks ever!
These mix and match styles are from their latest capsule collection, cleverly titled Tutti Frutti! It's celebrating the best part of summer, including bright solids and adorably sweet fruit prints that the girls and I are styling below:

As you can see, they are built for play and I've been wearing them for two years now and haven't found a brand I like more... they are a small, woman-owned business and are all for sharing how unique and beautiful each of us are!
For reference, I am wearing a size Small in both the top and bottom and here are a few favorite things to note:

All swimmers are fully lined and definitely help to hold it in and show off your best assets! My favorite top is the V-Neck Style and this is the Peaches Print. Other styles I have include Swing Top (great for hiding the mid-section) and the Scoop Back (perfect for petite frames, too).
In terms of bottoms, I usually go to the solid colors... my number one style is the High Waisted Bottom (shown here in Light Coral), though the Ruched Bottom style comes in a close second, especially if you're looking to add a little detail.
Experiment with the styles and most importantly, HAVE FUN with it. I love to mix it up and try a patterned top with striped bottoms... it's fun, bright and makes a fun statement when you're wanting to stand out at the beach/pool/lake, but still want to feel good!!
Get some for your little ladies and gents, too... make it a family affair!!! Carson is wearing the Peplum Top in Pineapples and Mini Down in Front Ruffle Bottoms in Yellow, while Caroline opted for the Mini All Ruffled Up Bottoms in Striped Peach and Peplum Top in Raspberries.

OK, I got some sleep last night... but can I just say that yesterday was absolutely EXHAUSTING in the land of blogging and social media?? It's hard to complain because yes, it was that much fun, but goodness this gal was wiped out from a full day of fun.

a little cold shoulder love | tips for shopping romwe

Stripes AND cold shoulder style = dog days of summer perfection! This Blue Vertical Open Shoulder Dress was made for warm weather fun and you won't believe the price -- a steal at under $20 online!!

Of course you know I just had to add in a little extra bold color for POP and my MIA Havanah Wedges [also found here] do just that and more. They are super comfy and make any ensemble a bit more fun! My statement necklace is from Baublebar, though it's sadly sold out... but here are a few options to check out in case you're on the hunt for something similar [option ONE, TWO and THREE].

I've had a few people ask me about sizing, shipping and other details regarding purchasing from Romwe and I wanted to answer some questions here to make your savvy , "fast fashion" shopping a bit easier:

1. Use the Sizing Chart to Determine Fit/Length/Etc. On any given product page, you will find a "Size Chart" icon near the product name. Simply click on that link, select "Inch", and view measurements for that specific item. I also have a handy dandy cloth tape measure that I use so I can be sure I'm ordering the correct size as I've worn every size from an XS to a L so make sure to do your homework before you order... that extra step will really make a difference when you order!

2. Concerned About Shipping Times? It can take a bit to receive your order so my best advice is to shop ahead and don't order anything you need within the next one to two weeks... I've had pretty good luck with my orders being delivered 7-9 business days once I place an order, but have had a few issues with delayed shipments, as they drop ship most items rather than keeping them in actual "inventory". They do offer express shipping, though I have yet to try that feature so I cannot speak to the efficiency of that option.

3. Read the Customer Reviews and Check for Customer Images. The model pictures are helpful, but let's face it... we all don't look like that! I've found it extremely beneficial to read review(s) of the items I'm looking at. Customers are great about sharing the ins and outs of garments and some even upload their own pictures which are fantastic in showing more regarding fit, length, quality, etc. I usually try to pay it forward and upload mine as well!

Local love... I hit up the new Brentwood Hill Center last week to shoot with Alli and let's just say I am in major trouble! Plenty of amazing shopping [hello Hemline, Paper Source, The Cosmetic Market and others] and the girls and I are already getting spoiled with having Jeni's Ice Cream and Uncle Julio's right down the street.

Today I'm sharing a fun new staple for all you gingham lovers out there like me... this Bow Tie Open Back Gingham Dress! It's perfectly casual and you won't believe the pricetag at under $20. It runs TTS and I couldn't be more pleased with the fit... it's roomy and comfortable, and the bell sleeves and bow back detail make it all the more special.

Of course I cannot forget to talk all things accessories = they make the outfit!! More is always more in my book and I thought these baubles would add just the right amount of color to contrast the black and white color palette of the dress.

First up, this brand new style of bag from my friends at Barrington Gifts. It's called the Lady Bag and it's the perfect mini tote for gallivanting around town. And you know I love their online ordering system that makes it super simple to customize your preferences in terms of pattern, monogram and leather trim, too.

I also added these Ombre Statement Earrings, which are a steal for just $12. They come in a TON of colorways online and I love them so much, I might have bought a few more in other hues. confessions... it's been awhile

I've got some things to confess. Perfect for a Tuesday morning coffee talk session...

I hate the way I sound on video... hence why I never do vlogs. And yes, I'm the person that records my voicemail message a dozen times before finally settling on one that is just "OK". I had a TV appearance segment a few weeks ago and I didn't want to record it, but the girls begged to see mommy on TV... I rarely get nervous as I don't mind public speaking, but something about seeing and hearing yourself on television is not my favorite.

I've become an obsessive closet purger... is that a good thing or a bad thing, I don't know, but clearing out the clutter is just so dang therapeutic! I just gave away 17 bags of clothing, accessories, old toys, etc to a local women and children's shelter and I am hoping it makes a difference to help others going through a hard time. And now I'm planning for another edition of a closet sale over at @thestonekingcloset, so stay tuned!

I've only read ONE book this year. What the heck is wrong with me?!?!?! I don't know why, but I've been lazy in the reading department. PLEASE send me some good reads so I can get back to one of my loves and say adios to TV for the second half of the year OR at least until This is Us and Game of Thrones come back on... haha.

Chore charts have officially been reinstated at our house and I'm ALL for rewarding the girls with fun outings/small gifts when they fill up their charts... these are under $20, magnetic, and easily wiped clean with dry erase markers.

I let the girls have popsicles for breakfast the other day... and didn't feel guilty about it. Summer is for breaking rules, right?!?!

My best friend is moving away this week and I've cried like a big baby way more than I care to admit. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?!?! More excuses to head to Knoxville more often so I can see my godbabies all the time.

Running Sugar Bit while trying to maintain [and grow] my blog is taking it out of me... they are both things I absolutely love and I don't take either for granted one bit, but it's hard when you're essentially running two businesses and trying to keep a semi-normal work/life balance and still be present with family and friends. I know I'm not alone, but it sure feels good to say it out loud. Something to think about for sure as life is only going to get more hectic when Caroline starts kindergarten in August.

Speaking of school, they now have a way to pre-order supplies online so that they will be in your kid's classroom the day school starts... amazing right?!?! That way I'm not fighting with the other moms trying to grab the last hot pink folder at Target... although let's face it, I was the kid that LIVED for school supply shopping.

Life is about to get even more hectic as we are submitting the final house reno plans to the city for approval. Meetings are starting to take place with Ron (our contractor) and Kendall (our designer), which means the fun stuff is coming... FINALLY!!!

Breast Augmentation... Six Months Later

OK, here we are SIX months later post surgery and I have had some of you asking questions about how the "ladies" are doing now. This is going to be a Q&A type post based on the emails I've been sent and I will be sure to answer everything as best as I can, given my personal experience, etc.

New here and didn't know I had surgery?? You can read my first post here.

Have they settled??
Short answer... yes. I didn't know how long it would take for my new ladies to "settle in" but I'd say after the first 2-3 months, I could tell they looked and felt a lot more natural. I was a bit nervous, wondering if my clothes would fit the same or if I would have to go up a size in tops/dresses, but for the most part I have stayed the same size, though my top half fills out my clothing A LOT better than previously... and yes, makes trying on clothing, especially swimsuits, SO much more fun!!

Do you still wear bras?? What size are your breasts now??
YES! I just feel more comfortable in a bra when I am out in public, though a lot of times, I just wear pasties, a simple bralette, or a t-shirt style bra. If you need a refresher on the size implants I got, they are 325CC Natrelle Inspira SRF (Smooth Responsive Full Projection) Silicone Implants.

Just remember to be sure to follow your doctor's instructions post surgery in terms of wearing that surgical bra day and night until you get the clear. I did and I think it most certainly helped my recovery process! And yes, going to get measured at Nordstrom about 3 weeks after my procedure was AMAZING... P.S. their bra specialists are the best and most helpful I've found. They helped me find the perfect style and size bra for me and now I measure at a 32D.

Can you sleep on your stomach??
This was a major concern for me as I have been a stomach sleeper pretty much my entire life [except during pregnancy obviously]. Thankfully, after about six weeks, I was able to resume my go-to sleep position and it's just as comfortable as it was previously.

Has having breast augmentation impacted your workouts at all??
At first, it was hard for me to regain my upper body strength post-surgery. I couldn't do planks, some ab exercises, jumping jacks [for obvious reasons] and I definitely didn't run... but my doctor gave me the approval to resume my normal workout activities six weeks after and I haven't had any issues! My best advice would be to use caution... if it doesn't feel "right", maybe rest that area a bit more and then try again.

What about your scars? How are they healing?
Given that I went under the breast, I wasn't really concerned about scars as no one other than myself would ever really see them. I was pleasantly surprised as to how fast my scars shrunk and the lines grew fainter. Dr. Wendel gave me Silagen Scar Gel and I've continued to use it and have seen really great results!

Will you ever have to replace them or have them taken out?
One reason I waited to have this surgery until we were done having children was because I didn't want to have the procedure again... obviously assuming nothing crazy happens medically. I've had people ask if I would go bigger and honestly, it depends on the day. Sometimes I would say yes, but for the most part, I think the size my doctor and I decided on is perfect for my frame and I'm completely happy!

How did friends and family react?
Luckily for me, my friends and family were SO supportive throughout the entire process. My girlfriends couldn't wait to see the new "additions" in person and being the non-modest person that I am, I didn't mind showing them the ladies once I was healed. Getting breast augmentation didn't change me as a person, but it has given me more confidence about my body and my friends and family have all been incredibly supportive and happy for me.

Are you still happy with your results??
HELL YES. My only wish is that I would have done it sooner... I am thrilled with the end result and I can't say enough good things about this entire process. Carson's 4th Birthday | Beauty and the Beast Party Recap

Another party down in the books... yippee!! I first brought the party inspiration to you a few months ago with this post and I'm happy to report back that the party was a smashing success. Here is a little recap of Carson's Beauty and the Beast soiree.
First up, we hired Party Belles of Nashville again to come steal the show and Belle didn't disappoint. Between singing songs with our birthday girl, reading a few stories to the kids, AND doing custom face painting for all the party animals, it was perfection. We rented out a party room at a local kids indoor playhouse called Monkey's Treehouse... great in that it was inside since June can be tricky in the weather department and our guests loved getting to play all morning. But I will also add that we didn't have the best experience in customer service from their staff and sadly I won't be recommending others having parties there.
P.S. this mama didn't get a chance to take any "real" images with my DSLR, so iPhone pics will have to do. At the end of the day, my baby girl had a BALL and that is what's absolutely most important!!

My Purse-onality... Talking Handbags with Opry Mills

They had me at handbags... when I heard from my good friends at Opry Mills about their upcoming sale, I instantly said "when can I come?!" So fortunate they had me out for another fun shopping experience so I could tell you all about their handbag promotion going on now through June 30th.

Are you the kind of person that likes to throw everything [along with the kitchen sink] in your bag?!?! Well this is for you my dear... the tote that can handle your laptop, planner and notebooks, makeup, kids' snacks, etc etc etc. I got tote savvy in Rebecca Minkoff at Saks Off Fifth and found this GORG camel colored bag... just $100!! What a major steal.

And of course I just might have found another fun, beachy slouch tote from the Lucky Brand store, too. Lightweight fabric with a fun little print, pom pom accents for color, and a casual silhouette perfect for everyday wear... sign me up! Even better, this happy little number was just $89 on sale.

The Satchel

Moving onto the third trend we're discussing today, my girl Kate Spade knows what she is doing in the bag department and this colorful coral Carli Satchel proves my point perfectly... it's structured enough for everyday, but you can totally dress this up for special events as well. It has tiny printed detail on the bottom that adds a bit of feminity, and the sale price right now on this pink pretty is just $115 during the bag event.

The Crossbody

Finally, my go-to style... the one I can't live without. Let's face it, as a lady who is running from place to place most days, it's nice to know I can throw my purse on and GO without having to worry about straps, size, etc. The crossbody has become a staple during the past few years and it's dominating season after season and doesn't look like it's going anywhere! This time, I stopped into see my girls at the Michael Kors Outlet and instantly fell in love with the Greenwich Yellow Crossbody that is 50% off right now and comes in under $125 in a ton of colorful hues. Of course in celebration of my yellow loving birthday girl, I opted to test out the sunshine tone.

Dear Carson... Happy 4th Birthday Nugget!!

It's almost as if words fail me now as I site and think about the past four years... they seem to have gone by at warp speed and I am trying to hit the brakes so I can savor this season just a tad bit longer. Oh my dear Carson Elizabeth, the joy you bring to life is simply immeasurable and I hope I have even one bit of the zest and spunk you have for life and everything in it.

This year has been marked with many milestones and fun events and adventures... from taking your first year of ballet to playing your first season of soccer to taking you on your first airplane ride AND Disney World, it's been SO much fun to watch you learn and grow and grow into your very own little person.

Personality... that's what everyone says about you. It's larger than life, and you're the most animated child ever! You LOVE to sing and you've been begging to take singing lessons so this should be another hilarious thing to see. Favorite chart toppers are our house still include Ash from the movie Sing, Shake It Off, Dark Horse, Hush Little Baby, Tale as Old as Time, and the Moana soundtrack.

At school, you've grown leaps and bounds in terms of letter and number recognition and are learning to write most of your letters...thanks in part to your big sister who loves to "teach" you. You're still obsessed with playing dolls, riding your bike and scooter, dressing up in princess gowns, putting on makeup and you're quite the strategist when it comes to Candy Land and Hungry Hungry Hippos... it's crazy how you ALWAYS seem to win.

You LOVE to eat and aren't afraid to try new foods... current favs include edamame, shrimp, steak, watermelon and pineapple, fruit smoothies, and of course any kind of popsicle! You've also become a real water baby and love to splash, jump and swim at the beach and lake. Your energy never ceases to amaze anyone that knows you and you go 110% full steam before passing out at nap and bedtime.

One of my favorite parts of the day is when we lay in bed together at night, talking about the day we had... our best parts, conversations about anything and everything and then we always finish with songs and prayers.

More than anything, I hope you know how loved you are. You are an amazing little lady my nugget and you complete our family... thank you for the joy you bring to our world each and everyday. Our little Tink, you truly are incredibly loved beyond measure. OXOX
