Introduction:

There are a number of people in the world that practice idol worship. This article aims to critically analyze idol worship, taking into consideration the reasons given by those who practice it.

Reasons given for Idol Worship:

An Idol itself is NOT god. It is just a symbol of God.
Idols are just an object of concentration. We do not believe idols themselves to be Gods.
We do not worship the idols - We worship God through idols.
We revere God like we revere our leaders and forefathers by remembering them with their pictures and statues.
God is everywhere, so worshiping idols is not a sin.
We use simple examples to make children understand. Similarly, common people are like children when it comes to spirituality. That is why idols are used during worship.

Things to remember:

God’s image is an assumption

None of us have seen God. Therefore, the images of God that people worship are not correct. They are mere assumptions made by people.

Images derived from Man’s experience

The images attributed to God are derived from people’s experiences of what they have seen and perceived in their daily life.

Why is idol worship a sin?

People think that worshipping idols is not a sin because idols are worshipped only to revere God. Idol worship is not a sin since God understands the intentions behind it.

Even though people who worship God using idols might do so with the best of intentions, idol worship is still a sin because of the following reasons.

1. God did not permit idol worship

God did not allow people to worship Him through idols. In order to be remembered or thought upon no one would like to have the statue or painting of a dog or monkey made for him, since we consider them sub-human creatures which are far below us. Similarly all objects in this universe are created by God and everything here is so insignificant that there is no comparison to any of them with God. It is a gross injustice to God to erect any of these objects to remember or to concentrate on God. Hence it becomes an unpardonable sin.

2. Images attributed to God disrespect God

Although images are made to revere God, unfortunately the same images become a means for disrespecting God. For example: we see the images attributed to God being used in calendars, hand bags, crackers, lottery tickets, invitation cards and even beedis. Once the calendar year expires, the calendar which has the image of “God” gets thrown into the garbage bin. The same happens with used and old notebooks, invitation cards and hand bags. We see old lottery tickets with the image of God being used in hair salons, while some beedis with the image of God are flushed in toilets and others stamped under people’s feet.

Would we accept such things to be done to our picture or the pictures of our parents or our beloved ones? If not, how can we accept such things done to God?

3. Images attributed to God are many times unacceptable to us

Some of the images attributed to God are many times unacceptable to us. For example: would we like to see ourselves with a big pot belly, disfigured face with teeth protruding outside? Would we agree to marry such a person or agree to get our children married to such persons? We would never accept.

God who created beauty would be the most beautiful. The images do gross injustice to God by portraying God’s image as something we ourselves would not accept.

So the reason “We revere God like we revere our leaders and forefathers by remembering them with their pictures and statues” is not valid.

4. Images of God distort the correct concept of God

When images of God are drawn from what man has experienced, man starts to think that God’s nature is similar to humans and ends up attributing all types of human weaknesses like family, wives, concubines, sleep, forgetfulness etc to God. This leads to the distortion of the correct belief of God thus making man careless about the accountability of his deeds as he starts to consider God weak.

Do we need idols for concentration?

We do not need idols or images to concentrate. The following points will explain that.

We see many people close their eyes when they pray standing in front of the images or idols. If images and idols are used for concentration, why do people close their eyes?
Concentration needs to be at the maximum when we pray to God for an urgent need. For example: You travel in a bike and the brake of the bike fails. It is natural that you would pray to God and concentration for this prayer needs to be at the maximum. Would you search for a picture or an idol of God before you pray or would you directly pray to God?
If idol is used ONLY for concentration, any object could be used and the substitution of any other object for the idol would not be opposed. This never happens. Hence the statement that idols are used only for concentration is not true.
Moreover, if the idols are used only for concentration then people should be ready to treat the idols and images like any other object. This never happens. Man gets the image and reflection of things where his mind and eyes concentrate. The idolater will have the image of the idol settled in mind, and idols will occupy God’s place. This is why the statues and images are sanctified and honored with worship (pujas). This shows that people treat the images and the idols as God. So the reasons “Idol itself is NOT god. It is just a symbol of God; idols are just an object of concentration. We do not believe idols themselves to be Gods and we do not worship the idols - we worship God through idols” are not true.
It is a common practice for people to use “photos” of the deceased during the anniversary rites. If the picture of the deceased is not to be found, would people agree to substitute with a picture of someone else? If no, how is it fine to substitute an image for God?

Is God everywhere?

People think that since God is everywhere, idols and statues can be worshipped. This reasoning is incorrect due to the following reasons.

If God is everywhere, then we can start worshiping any object present around us and need not look for an idol or an image attributed to God. Example: pen, chairs, tables etc.
It is illogical to think that God is everywhere. Creations have a beginning and end. If the God (creator) is within the creations, then what would happen to God when the creations come to an end?
Our universe comprises of matter and anti-matter. When matter and anti-matter come in contact with each other, they cancel each other and the result is non-existence. So if God is present everywhere, it would mean God is present in both matter and anti-matter. So when the matter and anti-matter come in contact with each other, it would mean that God becomes non-existent because the matter and anti-matter cancel each other. Hence, God being present everywhere is illogical and impossible.

Hence the reason “God is everywhere, so worshiping idols is not a sin” is incorrect.

How can we achieve concentration in worship?

When man starts to think about the attributes of God like God’s mercy, forgiveness, love, wisdom, poweretc man would be able to really concentrate in his worship and the worship will also become meaningful.

One important thing everyone needs to ask themselves is: have we ever tried to worship God without using an image or an idol? If no, how is it correct to dismiss the idea without even trying it?

Common people need Idols to worship God

The claim that common people are incapable of worshipping God without idols is false because:

There are millions of common people in Islam, Judaism and several denominations of Christianity who worship God without idols. If all these people can worship God without idols, it should be possible for common people of all faiths to worship God without images and idols.
To say that common people are like children in spirituality and hence would need idols is like saying “we need to draw a picture of a small sun for children to look at since they cannot see the sun rays directly”.
Only if the fundamentals of any particular subject are strong, a person will be able to excel in future. For e.g. a teacher of mathematics in standard one teaches the students that 2 + 2 = 4.Irrespective of whether the student passes school or does graduation or does a Ph. D. in mathematics, the basics of 2 + 2 = 4 will always remain the same, it will not change to 5 or 6. In higher standards the student may learn about Algebra, Trigonometry, and Logarithm etc. besides addition, but the fundamentals of addition will yet remain the same. If the teacher in standard one itself teaches the fundamentals wrong, how can you expect the student to excel in future?

Will you tell your son who is in standard one that 2 + 2 is not equal to 4 but is equal to 5 or 6 and tell him the truth after he passes school? We would never do that. In fact if he makes a mistake you will correct him and say it is 4 and not wait till he graduates; and if you don’t correct him initially you will ruin his future.

Similarly the fundamentals of worship can never change irrespective of whether the person is a scholar or a commoner.

Hindu Scriptures condemn Idol worship

A careful reading of the Vedas and Upanishads will show us that the Hindu scriptures are against idol worship. Hence organizations like AryaSamaj, BrahmoSamaj, GayathriSamaj etc which follow the teachings of Vedas and Upanishads speak against idol worship and regard idol worship as a sin.

Do we have an excuse to worship Idols?

When we confront the person who worships an Idol with the evidences and reasons against it, he may recant saying “What matters is to be good, let us not worry about how we worship God”. Using this statement, the person attempts to nullify all the arguments against idol worship.

If this statement is made by a person who worships God, we may ask him, if it is just about being a good human being, why do you worship God?

By worshiping God, the person agrees that as much as we strive to be good human beings, it is equally important to worship God. Since worship is for God, are we not supposed to see if God ratifies how we worship? We did see that God does not permit idol worship and also the problems with it and why it becomes a sin.

Let us try to understand this through a simple example. Say there is a person called A, who does a lot of social services like helping the poor, sick and the needy and he is known as an excellent human being in his society. One day, people discover that he was involved in treason by secretly helping an enemy nation by passing on confidential information to them.

On the other hand, we have another person called B, who does not do much social services or get involved in any social welfare activities and is not considered as a great person by his society. Although this person does not do any good acts, he stays loyal to his country.

Compare these two persons, A and B. Who is better of the two? Can person A be forgiven just because he has helped a few people? In no case, will he be forgiven, as what he has done amounts to treachery and planning against the country. All countries consider treason as a very serious crime.

Similarly, God does love people who do good deeds, but under NO pretext, will God forgive those who do ‘treachery’ against Him, by worshipping things other than Him or by worshipping idols.

It is hence, very clear that when a person is involved in idol worship, he disobeys God. A person can never be a good human being by disobeying God and doing things that displeases God.Hence, to be a good human being, a person has to obey God in all matters including worship.

So the excuse “What matters is to be good, let us not worry about how we worship God” is not justified.

Essence of Worship

Worship is a deed done by the worshipper out of extreme piety, reverence and humility to God. It is unbecoming of man, who is the best of God’s creations to offer worship to something that is equal to him to or something which is below him in status.

Moreover, worship with extreme reverence is shown only to the one who deserves it. God alone is perfect in greatness, wisdom and power. So God alone deserves worship and it is God’s privilege to be worshipped and adored. What God alone deserves should not be given to others; and doing so is against God’s will because it is like elevating them to the same level as God, who is the one and only deity.

Summary

Idol worship is a major sin.
God did not permit idol worship.
Images attributed to God humiliate God.
Images of God distort the correct concept of God.
Images attributed to God are many times unacceptable to us.
We do not need idols for concentration.Concentration in worship can be achieved by thinking about the attributes of God.
The argument “God is everywhere, so Idol worship is correct” is erroneous.

Hinduism not the Oldest and Best Religion

Hinduism is the oldest of all the religions and thus the, most pure, authentic and best of all the religions of the world.

Answer:

1. Islam is the oldest religion

Hinduism is not the oldest of all the religions. It is islam which is the first and the oldest of all religions. People have a misconception that islam is 1400 years old and that prophet muhammad (pbuh) is the founder of this religion. Islam existed since time immemorial, ever since man first set foot on this earth. Prophet muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of islam. He was the last and final messenger of almighty god.

2. The oldest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion

A religion cannot be claimed to be most pure and authentic, only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is similar to a person saying that the water he has kept in an open glass, in his house, outside the refrigerator, for three months is purer than the water which has just been collected in a clean glass, immediately after it has been purified.

3. The latest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion

On the other hand a religion cannot be claimed to be the purest or authentic, only on the criterion that the religion is new or the latest. A bottle of distilled water which is sealed, packed and kept in the refrigerator for three months is much purer than a bottle of water freshly collected from the sea.

4. For religion to be pure and authentic, it should not have interpolations, changes and revisions in its scriptures evealed from god

for any religion to be pure and authentic, its scriptures should not contain any interpolation, addition, deletion or revision. Moreover the religion's source of inspiration and direction should be almighty god. The qur'an is the only religious scripture on the face of the earth which has been maintained it its original form. All the other religious scriptures, of all the other religions have interpolations, additions, deletions or revisions. The qur'an has been in the memory of a multitude of people, intact in its original form ever since its revelation, and now there are hundreds of thousands of people who have preserved it in their memory. Moreover, if you compare the copies made by caliph uthman from the original qur'an which is yet present in the museum in tashkent and in koptaki museum in turkey, they are the same as the ones we possess today.
Allah (swt) promises in the qur'an, in surah al hijr, chapter 15 verse 9
"we have, without doubt, sent down the message; and we will assuredly guard it (from corruption)."

5. The oldest religion need not be best religion

A religion cannot be claimed to be the best religion only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is similar to a person saying, that my 19th century car is better than a toyota car manufactured in 1998, because it is older. He would be considered to be a fool to say that his 19th century car which required a rod to be turned in circles to start it, is better than a key-start 1998 toyota car, just because it is older.

6. The latest religion need not be the best religion

On the other hand a religion cannot be called as the best religion only on the criterion that the religion is new or that it came later. It is similar to a person who says that my 800 cc suzuki car manufactured in 1999 is better than a 5000 cc mercedes 500 sel manufactured in 1997. To judge which car is better, a person should compare the specifications of the car e.g. The power of the car, safety measures, the capacity of the cylinders, the pickup, the speed, the comfort, etc. 5000 cc mercedes, 500 sel car manufactured in 1997, is far superior and better than a 800 cc suzuki (maruti suzuki 800) manufactured in 1999.

7. A religion is best, if it has the solutions to the problems of mankind

For a religion to be considered the best, it should have the solution to all the problems of mankind. It should be the religion of truth, and should be applicable to all ages. Islam is the only religion which has the solution to all the problems of mankind. E.g. The problem of alcoholism, surplus women, rape and molestation, robbery, racism, casteism, etc.
Islam is the religion of truth, and its laws and solutions are applicable to all the ages. The qur'an is the only religious book on the face of the earth, which has maintained its purity and authenticity proving itself to be the word of god in all the ages. I.e. Previously, when it was the age of miracles, literature and poetry and in present times when it is the age of science and technology. Moreover, islam is not a man-made religion, but a religion revealed and inspired by almighty god. It is the only religion acceptable in his sight.

Why do we need a life after death (Hereafter)?

We need a life after death, because complete justice cannot be established in this world. Let us see a few examples.

Hitler killed six million Jews during his reign of terror.Even if the police had arrested him, what punishment can the human law give Hitler? The most they can do is to send Hitler to the gas chamber. That will only be punishment for the killing of one Jew. What about the remaining five million, nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine Jews?

How do we punish a suicide bomber who kills himself and also kills hundreds of innocent people? We will NOT be able to punish him as he is already dead.

We have heard of judges writing multiple life sentences which can go up to 100 years for the convicted criminals. This is because the criminal deserves so many years of punishment. Will the convict complete his term of punishment if it is 100 years?

True and perfect justice would mean that the people who were victims are also taken care of. What compensation can we give to those innocent people who were killed by people like Hitler and suicide bombers? We will NOTbe able to compensate them because they are already dead.

Several righteous people were tortured and some even killed. Don’t you think those righteous people should be rewarded for their righteousness?

Rational thinking will lead us to conclude that there is definitely a need for an eternal life after death to compensate people for what they did in this world. God who is most just will NOT let people go without being rewarded or punished for what they did.

Islamic concept of Hereafter:

Islam teaches that the whole world will come to an end one day. All the human beings, from the first man to the last will be brought back to life (Resurrection) on the Day of Judgment and will be questioned for their deeds. People who have done good deeds and lived a life in accordance with God’s command will receive a reward and people who have disobeyed God will be punished. The reward will be Heaven and the punishment will be Hell. The life in Heaven and Hell will be eternal and never-ending.

Since the life in Heaven and Hell is eternal and never ending, God can punish Hitler and the suicide bombers six million times or even more in the hell fire. Similarly, God can reward and compensate countless times, the righteous and the innocent people who were killed.

Is resurrection possible after we die?

God Almighty says in the Quran in Chapter 36: Verse 79

Say, “He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing.”

God who created us for the first time will give us life the second time after we die.

We all know that creating something for the first time will be difficult. Repeating the same creation again will not be as difficult as the first time. God did not have any difficulty creating us the first time, why will He find it difficult to give us life after we die? Bringing us back alive after we die is indeed very easy for God.

Issues with the concept of birth and re-birth:

The whole of concept of Hereafter (Life after death) rests on complete justice.

One fundamental principle in establishing justice is to make sure that the person who is punished or rewarded is aware why he is punished and rewarded.

For example: the court will not hang the convict if he is insane. The court will wait for him to become sane, as the convict needs to understand that he is being punished for his crime.

You would also be aware that when the judge reads his judgment, he clearly mentions the crimes the convict has done and the corresponding punishment for each crime. This is to ensure that the convict is fully aware, why he is being punished.

Keeping this in mind, we will examine the concept of birth and rebirth.

Do we know if our birth in this world is our first or second or third or Nth?
Do we know for what previous actions of ours we are rewarded or punished in this birth?

If the answer is NO for both the questions above, how can we say that complete justice has been established?

When our judicial system does not accept punishing a person without letting him know why he is punished, how can we imagine that God who is most wise and most just, will punish human beings without letting them know the reason for punishment?

Another aspect of justice is for the victim to know that the aggressor was punished. For example: A man rapes a woman. The man is the aggressor and the woman is the victim. The woman is called to the court and is made to witness the judgment (punishment) for the aggressor. Our common sense would tell us; this is how it should be.

Is this aspect of justice found in birth-rebirth? The answer is NO.

For example: What happened to Hitler? Was he punished? If yes, how many births has he taken? (Ideally, he needs to take 6 million births). Do the people who were killed by him know that Hitler was punished and do they know how he was punished? Were the poor victims of Hitler compensated?

None can answer these questions.

How can we expect such a huge flaw in the justice system of God?

World has to end for complete and perfect justice:

The world has to come to an end for complete and perfect justice to be rendered to human beings.

For example: I plant a tree and the tree benefits people by giving fruits and shade. You would agree that I need to be rewarded for it. Let us say I plant the tree and I die a few years after I planted it. The tree continues to live for some 200 years. If I am re-born before those 200 years, I am not rewarded fully for planting that tree as the effects of that good deed still continue. So I will have to wait for 200 years till the tree dies to be fully rewarded for planting that tree.

This is the case with every good deed you initiate. Imagine starting an orphanage. You can be given the full reward only after the orphanage ceases to exist.

This is the case with a bad deed you do as well. For example: Take the example of the atom bomb dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Doctors say that the consequences of that bomb are still seen today. As long as the consequences exist, the people who were behind the dropping of the bomb can never be fully punished. They have to be brought into complete account for all the damage they caused.

To put it in a nutshell, unless the world ceases to exist, effects of many good and bad deeds will not cease to exist. So logically, the world has to come to an end for complete and perfect justice to be rendered.

This aspect of justice is totally missing in the concept of birth-rebirth.

Hypnosis and Rebirth:

The process of hypnotizing a person to make him remember the details of his previous births is called as Past Life Regression. This subject has been studied by various psychiatrists over a period of time.

One such person who did an experiment on this subject was: Nicholas Spanos, who was a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Laboratory for Experimental Hypnosis at Carleton University, Canada.

Spanos’ research leads him to the conclusion that past lives are not memories, but actually social constructions based on patients acting “as if” they were someone else, but with significant flaws that would not be expected of actual memories. To create these memories, Spanos’ subjects drew upon the expectations established by authority figures and information outside of the experiment such as television, novels, life experiences and their own desires.

The details of this information can be found in the book “Multiple Identities & False Memories: A Socio-cognitive Perspective. Washington: American Psychological Association.”

For the sake of argument, if we agree that the rebirth is proved through hypnosis, it still brings up the issues mentioned above with justice rendered in the concept of birth and rebirth which will lead to the conclusion that God’s system of justice is flawed and inadequate.

Such a conclusion will become irrational as God is Most Just and Most Wise.

Aspects of Justice in Islamic concept of Hereafter:

God Almighty says in the Quran in Chapter 18: Verse 49

And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one.

Comment: So each criminal knows what he did and for what he is going to be punished.

God Almighty says in the Quran inChapter 3: Verse 185

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

Comment: Victims need not despair or lose hope as the full compensation for them will be given on the Day of Judgment.

God Almighty says in the Quran inChapter 99: Verses 7 and 8

So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.

God Almighty says in the Quran in Chapter 3: Verse 30

The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants.

Comment: None can escape being questioned and rewarded or punished for every deed they did.

God Almighty says in the Quran inChapter 4: Verse 40

Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.

Comment: No injustice is done and people are compensated multiple times for their good deeds which encourages every human being to do as many good deeds as possible.

Explanation for handicapped children, early deaths etc:

Islam teaches that this whole life is a test and is a temporary place of existence for all the human beings.

God Almighty says in the Quran inChapter 67: Verse 2

[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.

People are tested by various ways. It can be through wealth, health, family, longevity etc.

For example: On the Day of Judgment, a wealthy man will be questioned about how he spent his wealth. On the other hand, a poor man will get full marks for the question on wealth, as he had to suffer lack of wealth or poverty.

On the Day of Judgment, we will be questioned how we used our eyes on this earth. On the other hand, by default a blind person will get full marks for the question on usage of eyes.

On the Day of Judgment, we will be questioned how we used our limbs. On the other hand, by default a handicapped person will get full marks for the question on usage of limbs.

We can understand how things will get even on the Day of Judgment.

As a reminder to us, God Almighty says in the Quran in Chapter 4: Verse 40

Indeed, God does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight:

Summary:

1. There is a need for a life after death since justice cannot be fully established in this world.

2. The concept of life after death is very rational.

3. The element of perfect justice is missing in the concept of birth and rebirth.

4. Proof for the concept of rebirth using Hypnosis is ambiguous and not proven.

5. All the elements of justice are found in the Islamic concept of life after death (Hereafter).

6. This world is a temporary place of dwelling and the Hereafter is our permanent and eternal abode.

7. This world is a place of test and trial. We are tested by various ways like: wealth, health, family, death etc.

8. God will not do the least bit of injustice to any of us.

Falsification Tests of the Qur’an

There are the innumerable falsifications tests are there in the Qur’an.

We can divide them in to two categories.

The falsification test which was only for the time of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him.
The falsification test which is even today we can apply.

Abu Lahab:-

There is a Surah (Chapter) in the Qur’an by the name of Surah Lahab (Chapter No.111).

تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ (1

مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ (2

سَيَصْلَى نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ (3

وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ (4

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ (5

1. Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he! 2. No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains! 3. Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame! 4. His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- 5. A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! (Al Qur’an Ch.111 Verse. 1-5)

In this Surah it is mention that Abu Lahab and his wife will be burnt into the hell fire. (Indicating that he will never become Muslim)

This Surah was revealed 10 years before the death of Abu Lahab. He was a very staunchest enemy of Islam. He lied several time. Whenever he saw that Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him was giving dawah to someone. He waited there and when Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him went from there. He went there and asked what did Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said to You.

“Did He (Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him) say Black?”

“Yes”

“No it is white”

“Did He (Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him) say day?”

“Yes”

“No it is Night”

Like this way he (Abu Lahab) was reclined so many times to prove Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him. Only to prove the Qur’an wrong he has to say one more lie that “he is a Muslim” If he did this the Qur’an was proved wrong. But it would not happen. Do you know why? Because author of the Qur’an was Allah (SWT). Allah was known that Abu Lahab will never accept ISLAM.

Jews:-

There was a group of Jews who have debated with Muslims and said that the house in the hereafter is only for us. So Allah says in the Qur’an

It mention in the Qur’an in Sur e Baqra Ch.2 Verse 94-95

قُلْ إِنْ كَانَتْ لَكُمُ الدَّارُ الآخِرَةُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَالِصَةً مِنْ دُونِ النَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ .صَادِقِينَ

.وَلَنْ يَتَمَنَّوْهُ أَبَدًا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ

94. Say: "If the last Home, with Allah, be for you specially, and not for anyone else, then seek ye for death, if ye are sincere."

95. But they will never seek for death, on account of the (sins) which their hands have sent on before them. And Allah is well-acquainted with the wrong-doers.

Here we can see that only thing Jews have to do that they have to say “I want to die” and the Qur’an was proved wrong. Not that they have to actually commit to suicide. Only thing they have to do that they have to say only four words “I want to die”. But they never did that. Because the author of the Qur’an was Allah and Allah was known that Jews will never call for death.

Allah continue in Sur e Baqra Ch.2 Verse 96

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ أَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلَى حَيَاةٍ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِهِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ أَنْ يُعَمَّرَ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ

96. Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do.

Now these two falsifications tests for the past. Now if you ask me today I want to prove Qur’an wrong what should I do?

It mention in the Qur’an in Sure Ma’ida Ch.5 Verse 82

Here Qur’an is talking as a whole there are many Jews who have accepted Islam there may be few Jews who are better than Christians. But as a whole Jews are enemy of the Muslims and the Christians are close to the Muslims.

Here only thing they have to do that all the Jews have to get together and plant let’s be good for the Muslim for a few years better than the Christians and the Qur’an will be proved wrong. Only for few years if they do it, and they can prove the Qur’an wrong. But they will never do it and they will never be able to do it. Because the author of the Qur’an was Allah and He knows that Jews will never be able to do it.

Now you may say that I am not a Jew but I want to prove Qur’an wrong. How can I prove?

But Alhumdulillah Allah has given everyone a chance!

Allah says in the Qur’an in Sur e Isra Ch.17 Verse88

“Do they say He (Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him) forged it, try and produce a Qur’an like unto it.

The same challenge is repeated in Sur e Toor Ch.52 Verse 34

“Try and produce Qur’an somewhat like unto it and you will never be able to do it. Even all the Jinns and human get together they will never be able to produce, without the help of Allah.”

But nobody has given response till today, therefore Allah makes challenge easier.

It mention in Sur e Hood Ch.11 Verse13

“Do they say He (Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him) forged it, produce ten (10) Chapter somewhat like unto it.

Now Allah makes challenge much easier.

It mention in the Qur’an in Sur e Yunus Ch.10 Verse38

“Do they say He (Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him) Forged it? Produce one (1) Chapter somewhat like unto it. And call for help anyone beside Allah if you are truthful.”

Still no response!

Now Allah makes the challenge much easier

It mention in the Qur’an in Sur e Baqra Ch.2 Verse 23-24

“And if have doubt for what we have reveal to our servant time to time, produce a chapter somewhat or similar like it. Call for help anyone beside Allah if you are truthful. But if you can not, and surely you can not and be prepared for the fire whose fuel is men and stones.”

Here in the verse the Arabic word is use MIM MISLIHI that means somewhat similar. So that means if a person can not produce somewhat like Qur’an then he has to produce the Qur’an somewhat similar like the Qur’an.

Now you will tell me that neither I am Jew nor I know Arabic. Then how can I prove Qur’an wrong?

Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Nisa Ch.4 Verse82

“Do they not consider Qur’an with care Had it been anyone beside Allah, there will be many contradiction.”

Now if anyone wants to prove Qur’an wrong he has to point out a single contradiction.

But we see in entire history of the world nobody has done it

So we can say Qur’an is the word of God………

The major difference between the Hindu and the Muslim is that while the common Hindu believes in the philosophy of Pantheism, i.e. “everything is God, the Tree is God, the Sun is God, the Moon is God, the Snake is God, the Monkey is God, the Human Being is God”, all Muslims believe that “everything is God’s”.

The Muslims believe that everything is God’s. GOD with an apostrophe’s’. Everything belongs to the one and only unique eternal God. The tree belongs to God, the sun belongs to God, the moon belongs to God, the snake belongs to God, monkey belongs to God, the human being belongs to God.

Thus the major difference between the Hindus and the Muslims is the apostrophe ‘s’. The Hindu says, “everything is GOD”. The Muslim says, “everything is God’s”, GOD with an Apostrophe ‘s’. If we can solve the difference of the Apostrophe ‘s’, the Hindus and the Muslims will be united.

WAS ISLAM SPREAD BY THE SWORD?

Question:

How can Islam be called the religion of peace when it was spread by the sword?

Answer:

It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.

1. Islam means peace

Islam comes from the root word ‘salaam’, which means peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt).

2. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace

Each and every human being in this world is not in favour of maintaining peace and harmony. There are many, who would disrupt it for their own vested interests. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. It is precisely for this reason that we have the police who use force against criminals and anti-social elements to maintain peace in the country. Islam promotes peace. At the same time, Islam exhorts its followers to fight where there is oppression. The fight against oppression may, at times, require the use of force. In Islam force can only be used to promote peace and justice.

3. Opinion of historian De Lacy O’Leary

The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book “Islam at the cross road” (Page 8):

“History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated.”

4. Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give theadhaan, that is the call for prayers.

5. 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians

Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.

6. More than 80% non-Muslims in India

The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India are non- Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword.

7. Indonesia and Malaysia

Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, “which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?”

8. East Coast of Africa

Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, “which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa?”

9. Thomas Carlyle

The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book “Heroes and Hero worship”, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam:

“The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword! Every new opinion, at its starting is, precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone, there it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword, and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must first get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can.”

10. No compulsion in religion

With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse:

“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error”

11. Sword of the Intellect

It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah An Nahl, Chapter 16 Verse 125:

“Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious.”

[Al Qur’an 16:125]

12. Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984

An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?

13. Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe

Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe is Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

14. Dr Joseph Adam Pearson

Dr Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, “People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMAD (pbuh) was born.”

CASTE SYSTEM IN HINDU SCRIPTURES

Manu Smriti is the clearest Hindu document which spells out that Shudras are just filthy and have to be enslaved. Many Hindus want to just do away with Manu Smriti but the exercises’ futile. Manu Smriti is authenticated by the Vedas and also the Upanishads. Following is a list of verbatim quotations from Manu Smriti, which speak of and approve the caste system:

“But for the sake of the prosperity of the worlds he caused the Brahmana, the Kshatriya, the Vaishya, and the Sudra to proceed from his mouth, his arms, his thighs, and his feet.”

[Manu Smriti 1:31]

“A low-caste man who tries to place himself on the same seat with a man of a high caste, shall be branded on his hip and be banished, or (the king) shall cause his buttock to be gashed.” [Manu Smriti 8: 281] Caste is by birth.

“A Brahmana may confidently seize the goods of (his) Sudra (slave); for, as that (slave) can have no property, his master may take his possessions.”

[Manu Smriti 8: 417]

“But a Sudra, whether bought or unbought, he may compel to do servile work; for he was created by the Self-existent (Svayambhu) to be the slave of a Brahmin.”

[Manu Smriti 8:413]

“A Sudra, though emancipated by his master, is not released from servitude; since that is innate in him, who can set him free from it?”

[Manu Smriti 8:414]

Manusmriti declares that a Shudra cannot marry a girl from outside his caste. But a Brahmin can marry in the other three castes also in addition to his own. Similarly Kshatriyas and Vaishyas are allowed to marry girls from castes lower than their own besides from their own castes.

[Manu Smriti 3:13]

Know that a Brahmana of ten years and Kshatriya of a hundred years stand to each other in the relation of father and son; but between those two the Brahmana is the father.

[Manu Smriti 2:135]

Manu Smriti forbids a Shudra from giving evidence in a law-suit involving Brahmins. Similarly, a Brahmin cannot give evidence in a Shudra's case. Shudras alone can appear as witnesses in a case involving Shudras and the same rule applies to scavangers also.

[Manu Smriti 8: 68]

In short, the scriptures provide maximum punishment for Shudras, while the other castes get lesser punishment for the same kind of offence. The tongue of a Shudra who utters harsh words against the twice-born must be cut, says the 'Manu Smriti.

' If a Shudra pronounces the name and surname of a twice-born or utters impertinent words like "Hey Yagnadatt, you are a low Brahmin", etc., a ten-inch-long, red-hot iron nail is to be thrust into his mouth.

[Manu Smriti 8 :267 - 268]

Ironically, a Shudra is punished even for doing good deeds. Religious preaching was considered to be righteous act. But 'Manu Smriti' says that hot oil must be poured into the mouth and ear of a Shudra who dares to preach to a Brahmin [Manu Smriti 8 : 270 - 271]

A Shudra is not to be given good advice.

"Let him not give to a Sudra advice, nor the remnants (of his meal), nor food offered to the gods; nor let him explain the sacred law (to such a man), nor impose (upon him) a penance."

[Manu Smriti 4: 80]

Buddha was silent about the existence or non-existence of God. It may be that since India was drowned in idol worship and anthropomorphism that a sudden step to monotheism would have been drastic and hence Buddha may have chosen to remain silent on the issue of God. He did not deny the existence of God. Buddha was once asked by a disciple whether God exists? He refused to reply. When pressed, he said that if you are suffering from a stomach ache would you concentrate on relieving the pain or studying the prescription of the physician. "It is not my business or yours to find out whether there is God ? our business is to remove the sufferings of the world".

Buddhism provided Dhamma or the "impersonal law" in place of God. However this could not satisfy the craving of human beings and the religion of self-help had to be converted into a religion of promise and hope. The Hinayana sect could not hold out any promise of external help to the people. The Mahayana sect taught that Buddha?s watchful and compassionate eyes are on all miserable beings, thus making a God out of Buddha. Many scholars consider the evolution of God within Buddhism as an effect of Hinduism.

Many Buddhists adopted the local god and thus the religion of "No-God" was transformed into the religion of "Many-Gods" - big and small, strong and weak and male and female. The "Man-God" appears on earth in human form and incarnates from time to time. Buddha was against the caste-system prevalent in the Hindu society.

MUSLIMS WORSHIP THE KA’BAH

Question:

When Islam is against idol worship, why do the Muslims worship and bow down to the Ka’bah in their prayer?

Answer:

Ka’bah is the Qibla i.e. the direction Muslims face during their prayers. It is important to note that though Muslims face the Ka’bah during prayers, they do not worship the Ka’bah. Muslims worship and bow to none but Allah.

It is mentioned in Surah Al Baqarah:

“We see the turning of thy face (for guidance) to the heavens: now shall We turn thee to a Qiblah that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque: wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction.”

[Al Qur’an 2:144]

1. Islam believes in fostering unity

For instance, if Muslims want to offer Salaah (Prayer), it is possible that some may wish to face north, while some may wish to face south. In order to unite Muslims in their worship of the One True God, Muslims, wherever they may be, are asked to face in only one direction i.e. towards the Ka’bah. If some Muslims live towards the west of the Ka’bah they face the east. Similarly if they live towards the east of the Ka’bah they face the west.

2. Ka’bah is at the Centre of the World Map

The Muslims were the first people to draw the map of the world. They drew the map with the south facing upwards and north downwards. The Ka’bah was at the centre. Later, western cartographers drew the map upside down with the north facing upwards and south downwards. Yet, Alhamdullilah the Ka’bah is at the centre of the world map.

3. Tawaaf around Ka’bah for indicating one God

When the Muslims go to Masjid-e-Haram in Makkah, they perform tawaaf or circumambulation round the Ka’bah. This act symbolizes the belief and worship of One God, since, just as every circle has one centre, so also there is only one Allah (swt) worthy of worship.

4. Hadith of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Regarding the black stone, hajr-e-aswad, there is a hadith (tradition), attributed to the illustrious companion of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

According to Sahih Al Bukhari, Volume 2, Book of Hajj, Chapter 57, Hadith 1605. Umar (ra) said, “I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (pbuh) touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you”.

5. People stood on Ka’bah and gave the ‘adhaan’

At the time of the Prophet (pbuh), people even stood on the Ka’bah and gave the ‘adhaan’ or the call to prayer. One may ask those who allege that Muslims worship the Ka’bah; which idol worshipper stands on the idol he worships?

[In The Name of God, the most beneficient, the most merciful]

After Proving Existence of God, I'm moving on to substantiate 'Monotheism' or 'Tawheed' which certainly is core of islamic theology.

INTRODUCTION:

Theism, the belief that there is ATLEAST One God/deity has various sects within it, few dominant sects are Monotheism, Polytheism, monism. The Word 'Monothiesm' is dervied from two words - 'Mono' and 'Theism', the word 'THEISM' is derived from a greek word 'THEOS' meaning 'GOD', hence 'Monothiesm' is defined as belief in ONE GOD on the very contrary 'Polythiesm' is belief in more than one God, while monism is a deviant and erroneous form of monotheism, it is what i call belief in one God in disguise as it asserts that the One God has several manifestations in different or human form which is no doubt an irrational belief.

Monotheism & Islam :

Islam, as enshrined in Quran and hadith is a undoubtedly a Monotheistic faith, infact Monotheism is the central theme of Islam, there are 1000s of explicit and unambigious verses of Quran and various hadiths which denies and argues the existence of any other gods beside the One God - the creator, the sustainer, etc.

The Holy Qur'an presents a very 'apt' & 'concise' definition of 'God' in its 112th chapter, this sacred chapter is known as 'SURAH IKHLAAS', besides scrutinizing the Monotheism and Polytheism.

The Surah Ikhlaas reads as follows :

1 - “(Say) He is God one and Only.”

2 - “God the Eternal and absolute”

3 - “He begets not, nor was He begotten”

4 - “And there is None like him”

Monism & Polytheism in Hinduism :

First of all we ought to know that, Hinduism unlike Islam doesn't emphasizes on a particular philosophy, rather it is hodge podge of several religions under a name "Hinduism". Those who practice it differ very much from one another in their faith and practice. Hinduism includes in it Vedism, Brahmanism, Sivaism, Vishnuism, Polytheism, Pantheism, Idolatory in is greatest forms, Tree-Worship, Serpent-Worship, Demon-Worship and so on.

Various schools of thoughts of hinduism emphasizes on Monism and polytheism.
for instance, adavaita, vishisistadvaita, shuddhadvaita, dvadvaita, etc are some monistic schools of hinduism. These monistic faiths asserts that there is One God i.e 'brahman', and has several manifestations, consequently it asserts that we humans or some of us are too God and worthy of worship.

It teaches polytheism is also evident from the following citations from its scriptures:

Rigveda 1:34:11 says,

आ नासत्या तरिभिर एकादशैर इह देवेभिर यातम मधुपेयम अश्विना | परायुस तारिष्टं नी रपांसि मर्क्षतं सेधतं दवेषो भवतं सचाभुवा ||

"Come, O Nasatyas, with the thrice-eleven Gods; come, O ye Asvins, to the drinking of the meath. Make long our days of life, and wipe out all our sins: ward off our enemies; be with us evermore."

Similarly it is mentioned in Rigveda 8:30:2,

इति सतुतासो असथा रिशादसो ये सथ तरयश्च तरिंशच्च | मनोर्देवा यज्ञियासः ||

"Thus be ye lauded, ye destroyers of the foe, ye Three-and-Thirty Deities, The Gods of man, the Holy Ones."

In Rigeveda 10:52:6 the number is 3,339. It says,

तरीणि शता तरी सहस्राण्यग्निं तरिंशच्च देवा नवचासपर्यन | औक्षन घर्तैरस्त्र्णन बर्हिरस्मा आदिद्धोतारं नयसादयन्त ||

"The Deities three thousand, three hundred and thirty-nine, have served and honoured Agni, Strewn sacred grass, anointed him with butter, and seated him as Priest, the Gods' Invoker."

Probing Monotheism & Polytheism :

After having a brief introduction with these notions, i'll like to move on for probing Monotheism and Polytheism and substantiating monotheism.

Ockham’s Razor :

Its a philosophical principle attributed to the 14th century logician and Franciscan friar William of Ockham. This principle enjoins “Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate”, meaning “Plurality should not be posited without necessity.” In simple words it means that, entites shouldn't be multiplied without neccesity.

Since, this Universe must have creator(thoroughly proved HERE) as 'NOTHING COMES OUT OF NOTHING' (for a chair to exist there ought to be a carpenter) and as Universe must have began to exist(which will be proved in latter part of article) be it few billion years ago, hence it must have atleast One Eternal and Uncreated Diety, but polytheism would be an irrational notion as it would implicate that ONE GOD is not sufficient enough to do everything, because in light of this premise, there must be something which one God is unable to do and that is done by the other God implying that God is NOT OMNIPOTENT and ALMIGHTY. So, it sounds Irrational, because the cause or creator of this universe should be Omnipotent/all-powerful because without this ability universe couldn't be created. Therefore, there should be only one God as per Ockham's razor as “Plurality should not be posited without necessity.”

A possible contention to the above might be, Why can't multiple gods be semi-powerful and maintain this universe together?

The basic problem with this contention is that, the existence of multiple god would create chaos.

Quranic Argument :

Holy Qur'an presents this classical arguement :

“If there were in them gods besides God, they would both have been in disorder. So glory be to God, the Lord of the Throne, being above what they describe.”
[Al-Quran Surah Ambiyaa 21:22]

“No son (or offspring or children) did God beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him; (if there had been many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would've tried to overcome others! Glorified be God above all that they attribute to Him.”
[Al-Quran Surah Al Mu’minun, Chapter 23, Verse 91]

Let us understand it better with help of Mode logic i.e analogies/examples

1.For instance, if all time-keeping equipments were produced by a company consisting of three independent partners, with each specializing in only one aspect of these time-keeping equipments.

Can such a company be depended on for continual supply of time-keeping equipments?

What if one partner (for some reason) decides to withhold his part, or decides to stop making it altogether–where would this leave the consumers?
Or what if each of the three partners, thinking that his part is the most important wants his name to be listed first at the top of the product–where would these wrangling leave consumers?

Or what if the partners cannot agree on a specific design?

2. If there were two dieties and they disagreed about something, such as one wanted to move X, whereas the other did not want it to moved, or one wanted to make Y a living being, whereas the other wanted to make it lifeless, then, logically speaking, there are only three possibilities. First, the wills of the two are both carried out; second, only the will of one of them is carried out; third, the will of neither of them is carried. The first case is not possible because it requires the existence of contraries. The third possibility is also ruled out because it would imply that a body is neither moving nor not moving and this is impossible. This would also imply that both of them are incapable or carrying out their wills, which would disqualify them from being God. Finally, if the will of one is realised and not that of the other, he alone will deserve to be God and the one whose will is not realised cannot be considered God.

UNITY OF PHYSICAL LAWS:

There is order in the universe because one law pervades the whole of it, and one law clearly points to one Author and Maintainer of that law. The unity of law is a clear proof of the Oneness of the Maker.

What I mean by one law pervading the universe is that a physical law doesn't change from one place to another. For example, law of gravity is same everywhere be it on moon or earth or anywhere else. One set of laws obtaining at one time or place, for example, and a different set of laws obtaining at a different time or place. We observe nothing of the sort, however. On the contrary, the unity of the world, the fact that it exhibits a uniform structure, that it is a single cosmos, strongly suggests some sort of unity in its cause—that there is either a single designer, or several designers acting cooperatively, perhaps under the direction of one of their number.

Consequently there can be drawn two possible premises from the above argument - (a) there is only one God. (b) There is unity between various gods.

However, the premise (b) would be an erroneous one because in a council or in apex executive body, members do not necessarily agree on a certain design. Moreover, that would mean that their wills are now limited and passive, which would mean they are not Gods anymore by definition! Therefore, we can conclude that notion of one God is a rational one.

CONCEPT OF DIFFERENTIATION :

For differentiating between two entities we need certain Observable characteristics, such as Colour, Shape, Size, etc.

But in absence of these certain characteristics, would we be able to perceive the two objects or any objects at all? One could not, because these concepts are required to perceive any number of entities. Now since the cause of the universe is outside the universe, we can assert that there are no such observable characteristics, such as distance, shape, colour and size, because these concepts only make sense within the universe. hence if there are no observable differentiating characteristics we can't claim multiplicity of causes of universe.

Since, I've substantiated the notion of existence of One and only God, we're on bifurcated road one of them leads to Monotheism and the other one to the Monism.

Therefore, I'll scrutinize these two roads, so that we can move a step ahead on the right one.

Probing Monism :

Monism is typically defined as the belief that there is one god and he has several manifestations or forms, though i define it as belief in one god in disguise.

First of all, God or the cause of this universe must be IMMATERIAL and unlike anything which we can imagine like how Quran says in 112:4 “And there is None like him” because asserting that God is material would imply that :

1) God is not eternal, since whatever is physical or material is within the boundary of the universe and therefore is limited in time dimensions and whatever entity is limited in time dimension has to undergo causation and effect.

2) Universe we see around wouldn't have existed as whatever has a beginning is a physical and material entity and therefore is within the universe itself as a created thing is limited in time dimension, so saying that universe is created by something physical would imply that a part of universe created the universe which isn't plausible as for that it this material god must have a creator as out of nothing, nothing comes.

3) Universe wouldn't have existed, as it would lead us to absurdity of infinite regress, let me a elaborate it by an example, If the universe, U1, followed another temporal cause U2, and U2 followed another temporal cause U3, and this went on and on to infinity we wouldn’t have the universe U1 to talk about in the first place.

Think of it this way,

when does U1 come into being? Only after U2 has come into being.

When does U2 come into being? Only after U3 has come into being.

This same problem will continue even if we go to infinity.

If U1 depended on its coming into being on a chain of infinite temporal causes, U1 would never exist.

Therefore, the creator must be eternal and thus immaterial.

4) Big Crunch - Wikipedia theory tells us that this universe will be crunched after a certain period of time, so this so-called god would be crunched as well since he is material and thus part of the universe.

Since, I've substantiated the notion(there is None like him) i would like to throw some light on hoax of God taking forms.

An immaterial God taking being a material being is conceptually and philosophically incoherent, it is tantamount of saying that a circle can be rectangular but its irrational because they are very contrary to each other. Alike, an immaterial, eternal, non-physical God cannot be a material, created and physical because its very-very contrary to the basic attributes of God, therefore God being a human is certainly a hoax and myth.

I've already answered this contention in my Previous article on existence of God as follows :

"It would be tantamount of saying 1=2. Since, when 1 becomes 2 it isn’t 1 anymore neither can this ’2′ be called combination of ’1′ and ’2′ and furthermore there won’t remain anything like ’1′. Likewise, if we say that ‘God’ becomes a man named ‘gagan patil’, ‘gagan patil’ won’t be God any more, moreover there won’t exist any ‘God’ after God becomes ‘Gagan patil’."

Some monists come up with the contention that ISN'T YOUR GOD ALL-POWERFUL? SO WHY CAN'T HE BECOME A MAN?

Although he is ALL-POWERFUL/OMNIPOTENT as Quran mentions that in several verses like, 2:109, 2:284, 3:29, 16:77, 24:45, 29:20, 33:27, 35:1, 48:21, 59:6, 65:12 he doesn't commits un-Godly acts, those acts which are contrary to his attributes.

Meanwhile, i leave a rhetorical question for monists to contemplate over "Can your God lie since he is omnipotent?"

May God Almighty guide all of us to the valid path of Monotheism.

Existence Of God : Myth Or Rational ?

[In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful]

Although, science has its own limitation and its a dynamic field, i’ll try my best to deduce this notion of ‘Existence Of God‘. Additionally, i’ll try to answer some common contentions and arguments of skeptics in this article of mine.

Whenever we contemplate over existence of universe, consequently we come across two possible notions (a) universe is eternal – from always. (b) Universe had a beginning.

I’ll scrutinize these two possible notions in light of modern science.

(a) Universe is Eternal – Some atheist philosophers like, Carl Sagan tried his best to popularize this hoax of eternity of universe, but unfortunately this isn’t a rational notion in case we take modern science into contemplation.

For Instance, Second Law of thermodynamics which introduced the law of entropy explains the direction of various processes that occur in the natural world. Entropy is a measure of how evenly energy is distributed in a system.

For instance, heat always flows from a body of a higher temperature or energy to one of a lower temperature or energy.

To explain precisely, according to to the second law of thermodynamics, processes in a closed system tend towards higher entropy(low temperature or energy), as their energy is being used.

Therefore, Applying second law of thermodynamics to this universe we’ll conclude that it must have began to exist as the universe is a closed system, with enough time this universe will suffer a heat death or thermodynamic equilibrium(When systems are in thermodynamic equilibrium, they cannot transfer energy)

This is because entropy can only increase over time. Hence, as the universe continues to expand it will gradually become cold and dead. However this raises a issue, if the universe never began to exist it would assert that the universe has existed for an infinite amount of time, so with enough time this universe would’ve already been in state of heat death or ‘thermodynamic equilibrium’. Since, universe is not suffering any heat death it unambiguously implicates that it must have had begin to exist.

However, Skeptics and some atheists may still argue(because of their superficial knowledge) that :

(i) First law of thermodynamics states that “Energy can neither be created, nor be destroyed” and since universe we live in is mere sum of matter(energy) it cannot have a beginning and neither end.
But, this is a serious erroneous application of this law, what this law asserts as understood by majority of physicist is that no new energy/matter is formed in the universe after its onset. Else if we take this assumption(universe is eternal) into contemplation it would defy the consequences of second law of thermodynamics.

(ii) Oscillating universe model – This model states that if the gravitational pull of the mass of the universe was able to overcome the force of its expansion, then it might result into contraction of universe resulting into big-crunch and then into new expansion resulting into – ‘big bang’.
In precise, it states that universe is following a cycle of Big bang and big crunch and that it will continue forever and therefore universe is eternal.

However, this contention has some serious flaws :

(1) There isn’t enough mass in the universe to create a gravitational force that can draw the galaxies back together.

This conclusion has come from clusters of galaxies observed by a team of astronomers at Princeton University Observatory based on images from the Hubble Space Telescope. Neta Bahcall, leader of the team said, “There’s simply not enough matter to close the universe and make it stop expanding.”

(2) The speed of the movement of the galaxies is too great for their gravity to reverse their movement.

(3) The amount of deceleration indicates that galaxies will not slow down enough before they are too far apart to be brought back.

(4) The decrease of mass because of the depletion of nuclear energy will greatly decrease gravitational pull making a reversal impossible.

(5) all nuclear energy will finally be used up which will imply an end of this universe.

(6) If our universe will “turn dark and cold as nuclear furnaces and even massive black holes run out of fuel” then at some time in the past the universe must have been given its nuclear fuel. It could not have been using its fuel forever in the past or it would already have used all its nuclear fuel.

(7) According to the oscillation model, the entropy is conserved from cycle to cycle of the various oscillations of expansion, crunch and expansion. This has the effect of generating larger and longer oscillations. Therefore the thermodynamic property of this model implies a beginning, as the universe that we exist in has not suffered a heat death, or thermodynamic equilibrium.

(8) Universe couldn’t oscillate i.e create-destroy-create-destroy-ad infinitum as if it were to contract is that the universe is extremely inefficient (entropic).

In fact, the universe is so inefficient that the oscillation resulting from the collapse of the universe would be only 0.00000001% of the original Big Bang. Such a small “bounce” would result in an immediate re-collapse of the universe into one giant black hole for the rest of eternity.

Since, i gave this erroneous notion of universe eternity a ‘Death Blow‘, the only possibility we’ve is this universe must have had a beginning.

(b) Universe had a beginning :

Quran presents a rhetorical argument about the existence of universe :

“Or were they created by nothing? Or were they the creators (of themselves)? Or did they create heavens and earth? Rather, they are not certain.”

- Holy Quran 52:35-36

When we take this verse of Quran under scrutiny, consequently, we come across few possibilities that this universe is either (a) created out of nothing (b) created itself (c) created by something else that came into existence (d) Created by an uncreated entity

Let us scrutinize each of them to discover which of these is a rational premise.

(a) Created out of nothing :

This isn’t a rational explanation as out of nothing, nothing comes, for instance, a chair or say a building to come into existence it must have a cause or creator i.e carpenter or labours respectively. Likewise, for this highly complex and fine-tuned universe to come into existence it must have a creator or cause.

Unfortunately some physicist in order to deny the absolute and undeniable truth of existence of God has put forward the claim that something can come out of nothing referring to the various sub atomic events that take place in quantum vacuum.

However, this is a serious erroneous understanding of ‘nothingness’, nothingness here cited means absence of anything physical.

Moreover, the quantum is ‘something’. In quantum theory the vacuum is a field of energy pervading the whole of the universe.

Therefore, It is a sea of fluctuating energy, which is still part of the cosmos and it did not pre-exist the universe and hence a part of universe itself.

(b) Universe created itself :

This leads to absurdity of circular reasoning as it implicates that something can exist and not exist at the same time, which won’t sound plausible to any rational person. It would be tantamount of saying, you (the reader) gave birth to yourself.

(c) Created by something that came into existence :

Whatever has a beginning is a physical and material entity and therefore is within the universe itself as a created thing is limited in time dimension, so saying that universe is created by something physical would imply that a part of universe created the universe which again doesn’t makes sense.

Moreover, it would lead us to absurdity of infinite regress, let me a elaborate it by an example, If the universe, U1, followed another temporal cause U2, and U2 followed another temporal cause U3, and this went on and on to infinity we wouldn’t have the universe U1 to talk about in the first place.

Think of it this way,

(d) Created by an UNCREATED(eternal) entity :

Since, rest 3 premises(created out of nothing, created by itself and created by any entity that came into existence) has been proven absolute absurd, we can safely conclude that this universe must have an uncreated creator who is out of this universe i.e IMMATERIAL, NON-PHYSICAL and not limited in time dimension and physical laws, totally UNIQUE, as Quran says “There is nothing like Him.” – 112:4

Therefore, from a cosmological point of view this universe must have a creator.
Let us scrutinize this notion of existence of God from a different perspective. As you might have noticed, I’ve used a word ‘fine tuning‘ while explaining point
(a) created out of nothing
. Let me introduce all of you with this word ‘fine tuning’. Tuning is typically defined as adjustment, like how we adjust radio FM to a certain frequency in order to get an optimal performance. Likewise our universe is extremely fine tuned to make its existence and existence of human beings possible, such kind of minutest tuning couldn’t be mere a ‘Chance’ as it would be tantamount of saying “despite a hydrogen bomb falling on my chest i am here to write this article” Let us have a glimpse of some examples of fine tuning.

These numbers represent the maximum deviation from the accepted values, that would either prevent the universe from existing now, not having matter, or be unsuitable for any form of life. • The Strength of Gravity & the Atomic Weak Force: Physicist P. C. W. Davies has calculated that a change in the strength of gravity or of the atomic weak force by only one part in 10100 would have prevented a life permitting universe.

• Big Bang’s Low Entropy Condition: Roger Penrose of Oxford University has calculated that the odds of the Big Bang’s low entropy condition existing by chance are on the order of one out of 1010 (123). Penrose comments, “I cannot even recall seeing anything else in physics whose accuracy is known to approach, even remotely, a figure like one part in 1010 (123).”

• Volume of the phase space of possible universes: Roger Penrose of Oxford University states “In order to produce a universe resembling the one in which we live, the Creator would have to aim for an absurdly tiny volume of the phase space of possible universes” Now, how tiny is this volume? According to Penrose the volume of the phase space would be 1/10 to the power of X which is 10123. This is smaller than the ratio of a Proton! This precision is much, much greater than the precision that would be required to hit an individual proton if the entire universe were a dartboard!
These were just a ‘few’ of them, there are 30 more as far as in my knowledge, now, as we can see these are truly very extremely high level of fine tuning implying that there must be an Intelligent designer. Mere an unplanned, unexplained accident just couldn’t produce the order, beauty, elegance, and seeming purpose that we experience in the natural world around us.
There have been made several random attempts to subside and ignore this argument of fine tuning. Usual ones are :

(1) Adaptation of human beings(darwin’s evolution theory) – This argument asserts that humans have adapted the current condition of universe and that is why human life is possible and even these physical constants which are said to be fine tuned had different values there would’ve been yet another type of universe and we would’ve been another kind of species.

Unfortunately, this “argument” has a great loophole in it, evolution(product of adaptations) can only take place if given certain special natural laws. These are first, the chemical laws stating how under certain circumstances inorganic molecules combine to make organic ones, and organic ones combine to make organisms. However, if these fine tuned physical constants had even slightest different value it would’ve resulted in absence of this universe consequently absence of those certain ‘natural laws’ which are required for evolution to take place. Therefore, there wouldn’t be any evolution or adaption to talk about in the first place.

(2) Multiverse hypothesis – This hypothesis suggests that there are billions and trillions of universes out of which our universe is a lucky one to have these fine tuned physical constants at random.

This theory(rather hypothesis) is mere a conjecture. Firstly, it goes against the principle of Ockham razor according to which “from among competing hypotheses, selecting the one that makes the fewest new assumptions usually provides the correct one, and that the simplest explanation will be the most plausible until evidence is presented to prove it false.“
In light of this, Physicists Paul Davies said:
Invoking an infinite number of other universes just to explain the apparent contrivances of the one we see is pretty drastic, and in stark conflict with Occam’s razor. (Davies 1995, 121)
Let us consider the argument that William Craig presented against this hypothesis :

Now a similar problem troubles the contemporary appeal to the multiverse to explain fine-tuning. Roger Penrose of Oxford University has calculated that the odds of our universe’s low entropy condition obtaining by chance alone are on the order of 1:1010(123), an unimaginable number. If our universe were but one member of a multiverse of randomly ordered worlds, then it is vastly more probable that we should be observing a much smaller universe. For example, the odds of our solar system’s being formed instantly by the random collision of particles is about 1:1010(60), a vast number, but inconceivably smaller than 1010(123). Or again, if our universe is one member of a multiverse, then we would’ve been observing highly extraordinary events, like horses’ popping into and out of existence by random collisions, or perpetual motion machines, since these are vastly more probable than all of nature’s constants and quantities’ falling by chance into the virtually infinitesimal life-permitting range. Observable universes like those strange worlds are simply much more plenteous in the ensemble of universes than worlds like ours and, therefore, ought to be observed by us if the universe were but a random member of a multiverse of worlds. Since we do not have such observations, it cremates this hypothesis.

Since, I’ve punctured usual contentions and arguments of skeptics and atheists i would like to answer some other contentions and queries

FAQ(frequently asked questions) :

1. Who Created God?

Since, we live in a universe of cause & effect, we naturally assume that this is the only way in which any kind of entity may exist. but this is an erroneous premise as without the dimension of time, there is no cause, and all things that could exist in such a realm would’ve no need of being created, but would’ve always existed. In concise, i mean that God can’t be limited in time dimension as time didn’t pre exist the universe, yes, the time dimension itself came into existence with universe and this very fact has been acknowledged by almost every physicist therefore only universe and whatever is within it can be limited in time dimension and since, as already proved the creator must be a unique entity out of this universe and immaterial he cannot be limited in any sort of physical laws.

Further more, if we assume that God must be created it would lead us to absurdity if infinite regress(refer (c) Created by something that came into existence section) and the example cited there, If the universe, U1, followed another temporal cause U2, and U2 followed another temporal cause U3, and this went on and on to infinity we wouldn’t have the universe U1 to talk about in the first place.

Think of it this way,

2. Why cannot we see him?

In the earlier version of the string theory, it was assumed that those extra dimensions were too small to be observed. Thus, the whole universe is essentially the same as the 3D world. If this were true, there would be no place for God. Fortunately, a few years before 2000, researchers began to realize that those extra dimensions could be as large as the ordinary three dimensions. The reason why we cannot see extra dimensions is because all matter and electromagnetic waves (photons) are confined in a three dimensional sub-universe called “brane“.

At present, we use mainly the electromagnetic waves (radio waves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, and X-ray) to see or detect things. Since the electromagnetic waves are confined in our brane, this immediately explains why we cannot detect God if He lives outside of our brane. The relationship between our brane (3D) and the whole universe (10D) is like a flat TV screen (2D) in our house (3D). Suppose there are some kind of creatures confined on the TV screen and the “light” they use to see is also confined on the TV screen, then they cannot see us even if we are only a centimeter away from the TV screen. Similarly, if God lives outside of our brane, we cannot see Him even if He is only a centimeter away from our brane.

Moreover, this isn’t a plausible contention as there are a lot of things which we cannot see for instance, DNA, RNA, an isolated electron but that doesn’t negate existence of this things. Likewise, if there are various logical proofs(as presented in this article) there shouldn’t be any ambiguity left to negate the absolute truth of existence of Almighty.

3. Can God create a stone which he cannot lift.

This particular contention is probably the most popular attack done on theists rather Monotheists. It has been named as ‘omnipotence paradox’.

First of all, we are placing an infinite unrestricted being under the finite restricted laws of our universe.
To be honest, such a stone couldn’t exist because it is conceptually incoherent. When one asks if God could create such a stone, one would normally identify the properties of such a stone. But here we haven’t been given absolute properties, but instead we’ve been given properties of the stone relative to God’s properties.

The questioner has identified the potential stone as something so big that God couldn’t lift, so even though we already know that there is nothing God cannot lift, they have used that as an attribute for the stone. hence, the concept of such a stone is nullified.

Now, when they ask could God create such a stone, the answer is no, but that doesn’t implicates a lack of potential of God. Instead, it reflects the fact that the concept of such a stone is illogical and unreal. It is tantamount of asking if God can die. Well, death isn’t an ability, its the inability to live. The immortal cannot die because that defies His attribute of immortality. Similarly, the omnipotent cannot create a task that He can’t complete because such a task is merely an illogical assumption and its mere contradiction of terms.

4. Since, God is Omnipotent Can’t he become Man?

Although, this contention isn’t aptly relevant here, i would like to throw some light on it.
The theory of anthropomorphism or manifestations of God is central theme of various schools of hinduism and this particular question is often posed to we Monotheists, rather say, ‘Muslims and Jews’ in particular.

Well, in light of Islam, I say ‘NO’ because God does only those things which suits his majesty.
God only does Godly things. He does only those things which suits His Majesty. Though God Almighty has power over all things, as mentioned in the Qur’an in many places like 2:109, 2:284, 3:29, 16:77, 24:45, 29:20, 33:27, 35:1, 48:21, 59:6, 65:12 etc.; but God Almighty will never do unGodly acts. Becoming human or taking a human form is not a Godly act, it does not suit His Majesty.

As a logical approach i would like to again say a ‘NO’ because an infinite, immaterial, creator becoming finite, material and creation is a paradox in itself, it would be tantamount of saying 1=2. Since, when 1 becomes 2 it isn’t 1 anymore neither can this ’2′ be called combination of ’1′ and ’2′ and furthermore there won’t remain anything like ’1′. Likewise, if we say that ‘God’ becomes a man named ‘gagan patil’, ‘gagan patil’ won’t be God any more, moreover there won’t exist any ‘God’ after God becomes ‘Gagan patil’.
Additionally, I may ask a rhetorical question to them “Can’t your God lie as he is omnipotent?”

5. If God Really does exist why there is evil and suffering in the World?

Unfortunately, this argument has several loopholes in it :

1. First of all, this contention presupposes that an omnipotent ‘God’ won’t allow evil & suffering to exist in this world, which is questionable.

2. God may be letting evil run its course in order to prove that evil is malignant and that suffering, which is the unfortunate product of evil, is further proof that anything contrary to God’s will is bad, harmful, painful, and leads to death.

3. Having hardship and suffering enables us to realise and know God’s attributes such as ‘the Victorious’ and ‘the Healer’. For example without the pain and suffering of illness we would not appreciate the attribute of God being ‘the Healer’. Knowing God is a greater good, and worth the experience of suffering or pain as it will mean the fulfillment of our primary purpose.

4. Moreover, Islamic theology has to say something regarding this suffering and evil and that is :
1. “The One Who created death and life, so that He may put you to test, to find out which of you is best in deeds: He is the all-Almighty, the all-Forgiving”
- Quran 67:2
2. “Do you think that you will enter paradise without any trials while you have known the examples of those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with suffering and adversity and were so violently shaken up that even the Prophet and the believers with him cried out: ‘When will God’s help come?’ Be aware, God’s help is close.”
- Quran 2:214
Islamic theology gives answer to this question that this life is a test therefore we’ve a free will either to do righteous deeds or evil alike how we appear in academic examination with a choice either to solve the question to attain good marks or leave the question to fail, as for suffering Islam says :
“So verily, with the hardship, there is relief.”
- Quran 94:5
Additionally, Quran asserts that we might not be aware of God’s wisdom, as there may be divine wisdom in permitting suffering. Even if we can’t evaluate what the wisdom is, it doesn’t mean it is not there. To argue such a thing would be a logical fallacy, known as the argument from ignorance. For instance Quran mentions a story of Khidr which can be found in the 18th chapter of Qur’an from verses 60 to 82 is an eloquent account of how God’s wisdom, whether understood or not, has positive results and benefits for humanity.

6. How Do We know this cause or creator is ‘God’ of Islam?

Islam gives a concise and very apt definition of God in Quran’s 112th chapter which has been named as ‘Surah ikhlaas’ it reads as follows
1 - “(Say) He is God one and Only.”
2 - “God the Eternal and absolute”
3 - “He begets not, nor was He begotten”
4 - “And there is None like him”
1. If there were more than one God it would implicate that there is something which one God is unable to do and that is done by another God implying ‘weakness’ or ‘lack of potential’ in God which isn’t plausible for creator must be OMNIPOTENT to create this universe. Therefore, God must be one.

2. God must be eternal, because he is not limited by time dimension and whatsoever is not limited time dimension can’t have any cause(refer 1st question in FAQ section), moreover if we suppose that God is a created entity it would lead us to infinite regress and there won’t exist any universe.(refer the example given in 1st question of FAQ)

3. Whenever an entity begets, the begotten entity should be of same species as that of his parents, for example when a Donkey begets his child should also be a donkey, but suppose if God begets, the begotten one should be also a GOD, but the supposed begotten God won’t be eternal, but as already proved God(or cause) of this universe must be eternal. As far as ‘nor was He begotten’ is concerned it has the same explnation as that of the 2nd verse.

4. He is obviously Unique as he is eternal, uncreated, immaterial and out of this universe dimensions and laws.

Although, I’m done with this topic of existence of God, i would like to answer some other contentions of atheist on Islamic beliefs.

(a) Are Miracles Impossible?

Some skeptics claim that miracles ain’t rational and scientific and therefore, Quran is in err when it says that Jesus(pbuh) was born from a virgin women who din’t had any male intervention, etc.
Unfortunately, they are digging their own grave by claiming so as they claim to be “Rational” person believing in Science because, science doesn’t disproves miracles.
“The Oxford English Dictionary says that scientific method is: “a method or procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.””

As evident from above citation, to prove or disprove any natural phenomenon, science depends on verifiable, repeatable experimentation. But, as we know miracles are by nature, unrepeatable. Therefore, one doesn’t have any ground to refute or disprove miracles.

Moreover, belief in miracles are tied to the belief in God, when we believe that God is Omnipotent and Omniscient, we are affirming our limits in knowledge and power. What might be impossible for us might be possible for God. God can suspend any of his physical laws because He created them or what we might think is against physical laws may actually be possible by some other physical law unknown to us, which might overrule the law known to us. Therefore, belief in miracles isn’t irrational.

(b) Why God doesn’t want(as per islam) to worship any one other than him. Isn’t he Jealous?

For one to be jealous s/he must have a rivalry. For instance, If I’m sitting with my spouse and staring another beautiful girl passing near by, my spouse but natural will be jealous of her, now what we see is there is a ‘rivalry’ i.e another girl for jealousy to take place. However, in case of God, there is no other rivalry “La ilaha ill allah” meaning “There is NO god besides the GOD“(some thing which I’ve already proved in the article).

Moreover, if there is is but Only one God, why should we bow down to other so-called gods? It would be tantamount of calling your sister as your wife, which is certainly unimaginable and irrational.

Monism(advaita) or Monotheism? : Which ONE is Rational ?

Monism :

Monism, is typically defined as a belief that there is One God who has many manifestations in the diverse religious traditions.

In hinduism, this some what Monism is popularly known as 'ADVAITA' which teaches that this universe and everything we see around is mere an ILLUSION i.e Maya and that the one and only Brahman(God) is reality and that this illusion is due to our AVIDYA or IGNORANCE. Advaita philosophy presents Avidya not as a mere lack of knowledge, as something purely negative, but as an obscuring layer which covers Brahman and is removed by true Brahma-vidya, thus by consequence that a human soul is equal to God's Soul in essence, to make it simple it says that we humans are God(brahman) themselves, which leads to pantheism, which no Rational person will ever agree with.

Now, let me take this belief under scrutiny,

First of all let us introduce ourselves with the term 'ILLUSION'

a. An erroneous perception of reality.

b. An erroneous concept or belief.

It unequivocally says, an erroneous perception of reality implying that we can perceive only those things in illusion of which we had perceived earlier. for instance, if I mistake a rope to a snake that would be called as an illusion but this illusion would have never been possible if i have had never known or seen a snake in reality. Therefore, we can never ever perceive a thing to which we ain't familiar. Let me elaborate it further by another example, imagine a person who is blind by birth cannot see any dream objects as such. He can dream only of those things that he is familiar of. Since, he is blind by birth, at best, he can dream of sounds that he had heard. Therefore, an illusion presupposes the "real existence" of the illusory object or its constituents. If the illusory object or its constituent had not existed at all, then it becomes impossible for anyone to dream of the object.

Alike, If this universe and every thing else we see around has to be qualified as 'Illusion', this universe and every thing which we see around must have been a real entity at sometime in the past.

Now, Some monists may come up with the contention that despite, 'Dragon' being a non-existent entity can be perceived by us.

Well, i must bring it to the attention that, for imagining of a dragon one must be familiar of 'reptile creatures' and 'wings', without these real existing entity 'reptiles' and 'wind' one cannot think of a dragon. likewise, if all we see around is mere an illusion its constituents must be real as well as familiar to us in past.

In case, monists come up with the yet another baseless contention that we've already experienced and perceived the world.

Now, If God(brahman) was mistaken to this world or universe alike rope to a snake, then it would beg for the real prior existence of the “world” alike the prior real existence of snake is the necessary for perceiving snake instead of rope. If we had not seen snake before, we would not be mistaking rope for snake at the first place. So, can't we counter by saying that this world is also a thing of past experience for God in order for it to become a superimposition? Now, the question arises as to what is the basis for this past experience of God? Is the thing currently being superimposed is a real thing of the past or a superimposed thing? If its real it would cremate the advaita belief as advaita does not accept another REAL besides God. If it were a superimposed thing again, it would result in endless regression as it would ask for another prior experience and that prior experience asks for another one and so on and on to infinity. Either way, advaita Fails.

Other Logical flaws in advaita :

1. If we take advaita into contemplation that every entity we see around is not real and mere an illusion, we would reach a consequence that even the scriptures which are said to teach this advaita is also an illusion, therefore we should not get bother of what it teaches as its maya and mere maya, as any non-existent entity can never yield right knowledge. For instance, in fiction world we often come around a statement like “A PHOENIX's tears can cure any injury” is a fallacious one because there's no such bird like PHOENIX therefore its tears curing injury is another absurd statement.

Alike, if the world is unreal, its constituents such as Scriptures which are said to sanction advaita should also be unreal.
As we have seen, unreal entities like phoenix's tears can't yield right knowledge such as its tears can cure any injury in a similar way, if this world which includes scriptures are unreal, hence, the knowledge derived from the scriptures can't be right, consequently Monism Fails.

2. If everything is mere an illusion, we won't be able to differentiate between good or bad because as per this notion everything in world is mere an illusion, therefore good deeds or bad deeds are equal. but, when i read Chandogya Upanishad 5/10/7 i got disappointed, it reads as follows

"Those whose conduct here on earth has been good will quickly attain some good birth—birth as a brahmin, birth as a kshatriya, or birth as a vaisya. But those whose conduct here has been evil will quickly attain some evil birth—birth as a dog, birth as a pig, or birth as a chandala."

How, come Good conduct and Bad conduct can be differentiated from each other in light of advaita theory? Its a paradox and what we may call, 'internal inconsistency'.

3. A person cannot see everything as "one and the same" as the advaitins would want it and as the consequences of contemplating over advaita implies, else one won't be able to run his daily activities as the advaitins will see his wife in his sister or his father in his mother, which is irrational.

4. The belief known as advaita would be an illusion itself since everything besides God is unreal or Illusion which again is a paradox.

5. Where is the Avidya that gives rise to the (false) impression of the reality of the perceived world? There are two possibilities; it could be Brahman's Avidya or the individual soul's. Neither of them is a possible premise. Since, Brahman is knowledge(refer svetasvatara upanishad adhaya 1:16). Avidya cannot co-exist as an attribute with a nature highly incompatible with it. Nor can the individual soul be the location of Avidya since, the existence of the individual soul is due to Avidya; this would lead to a circular reasoning.

6.Upholder of Advaita philosphy argues that the world is mere illusion does it not mean that their body, organs of their body, mind and intellect are also illusion? As the mind, which findsthe universe illusory, is itself an illusion, does it not mean that thetheory of illusion is another illusion? Advaita Philosophy, being a product of the mind, does it not mean that advaita is an illusion. So as a philosophy based on illusion, is not Advaita philosophy, including its theory of world as maya, just another illusion?

Since, this notion of universe being illusion has been refuted above, so, i would like to move on to prove monotheism as a rational and logical belief.

Since, advaita has been disproved, this universe and everything we see around is real. So, there can be two possibilities left regarding existence of the universe -

1. It is eternal(from infinite time)
2. It began to exist.

The notion of universe being eternal is fallacious according to contemplation of 2nd Law of thermodynamics :

The concept of entropy was introduced to explain the direction of various processes that occur in the natural world. Entropy is a measure of how evenly energy is distributed in a system. For instance, heat always flows from a body of a higher temperature or energy to one of a lower temperature or energy.

To explain precisely, according to to the second law of thermodynamics, processes in a closed system tend towards higher entropy(low temperature or energy), as their energy is being used.

Therefore, Applying second law of thermodynamics to this universe we will conclude that it must have began to Sexist. ince the universe is a closed system, with enough time this universe will suffer a heat death or thermodynamic equilibrium. When systems are in thermodynamic equilibrium, they cannot transfer energy. This is because entropy can only increase over time. Hence, as the universe continues to expand it will gradually become cold and dead. However this raises a question, if the universe never began to exist it would imply that the universe has existed for an infinite amount of time. If this is true then why isn’t the universe already in a state of heat death? This strongly suggests that the universe must have had a beginning, because if it didn’t it would imply that it has existed for an infinite amount of time, which would mean that it should already have suffered a heat death. Since it hasn’t suffered a heat death, it strongly indicates that the universe is finite, meaning it began to exist.

Therefore, we can safely conclude that it must have began to exist and consequently we can conclude that this universe must have AT LEAST ONE creator or cause as Out of nothing comes nothing for example, in order to chair to come into existence there must be a carpenter as its creator, so there can be two possibilities either (a) one cause or creator (b) multiple causes or creators. Following are the analysis of these two possibilities.
The notion of creator or cause of this universe being only one is named as 'MONOTHEISM' in islamic terminology it is called as 'TAWHEED'.

Monotheism :

It is defined as the belief in ONE and ONLY God, negating existence of any other deity besides that one One OMNIPOTENT, OMNISCIENT God.

Islam, as enshrined in Quran and hadith is a Monotheistic faith, Monothiesm is the central theme of Islam, there are 100s of explicit and unambigious verses denying and arguing the existence of any other gods beside the One God - the creator, the sustainer, etc.

The Quran says in 112:1

“(Say) He is God one and Only.”

Ockham’s Razor :

Its a philosophical principle attributed to the 14th century logician and Franciscan friar William of Ockham. This principle enjoins “Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate”, meaning “Plurality should not be posited without necessity.” In simple words it means that, entites shouldn't be multiplied without necessity.

As already proven this universe must have had at least one cause or creator, but polytheism would be an irrational notion, as it would imply that ONE GOD is not sufficient enough to do everything, because in light of this belief, there must be something which one God is unable to do and that is done by the other God implying that God is NOT OMNIPOTENT and ALMIGHTY. So, it sounds Irrational, because the cause or creator of this universe should be Omnipotent/all-powerful because without this ability universe couldn't be created.

A possible contention to the above assertion might be, Why can't multiple gods be semi-powerful and maintain this universe together?

The basic problem with this contention is that, the existence of multiple god would create chaos.

Holy Qur'an presents this arguement in Surah ambiya 21:22 :

“If there were in them gods besides God, they would both have
been in disorder. So glory be to God, the Lord of the Throne, being
above what they describe.”

Quran - Surah Al Mu’minun, Chapter 23, Verse 91:

“No son (or offspring or children) did God beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him; (if there had been many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some wouldhave tried to overcome others! Glorified be God above all that they attribute to Him.”

Let us understand it better with help of Mode logic i.e analogies/examples

1. For instance, if all time-keeping equipments were produced by a company consisting of three independent partners, with each specializing in only one aspect of these time-keeping equipments.

Can such a company be depended on for continual supply of time-keeping equipments?

What if one partner (for some reason) decides to withhold his part, or decides to stop making it altogether–where would this leave the consumers?
Or what if each of the three partners, thinking that his part is the most important wants his name to be listed first at the top of the product–where would these wrangling leave consumers?

Or what if the partners cannot agree on a specific design?

2. If there were two dieties and they disagreed about something, such as one wanted to move X, whereas the other did not want it to moved, or one wanted to make Y a living being, whereas the other wanted to make it lifeless, then, logically speaking, there are only three possibilities. First, the wills of the two are both carried out; second, only the will of one of them is carried out; third, the will of neither of them is carried. The first case is not possible because it requires the existence of contraries. The third possibility is also ruled out because it would imply that a body is neither moving nor not moving and this is impossible. This would also imply that both of them are incapable or carrying out their wills, which would disqualify them from being God. Finally, if the will of one is realised and not that of the other, he alone will deserve to be God and the one whose will is not realised cannot be considered God.

UNITY OF PHYSICAL LAW:

There is order in the universe because one law pervades the whole of it, and one law clearly points to one Author and Maintainer of that law. The unity of law is a clear proof of the Oneness of the Maker.

What I mean by one law pervading the universe is that a physical law doesn't change from one place to another. For example, law of gravity is same everywhere be it on moon or earth or anywhere else.

So, if there were many gods, they would have wrangled with each other on the feasibility of certain law.
Besides, these ways there is yet another possible way to refute Polytheism.

CONCEPT OF DIFFRENTIATION :

We diffrentiate between two entities by certain Observable characterstics, such as Colour, Shape, Size, etc.
But, in absence of these certain characterstics, would you be able to perceive the two objects or any objects at all? You could not, because these concepts are required to perceive any number of entities. Now since the cause of the universe is outside the universe, we can assert that there are no conceptual differentiators such as distance, shape, colour and size, because these concepts only make sense within the universe. hence if there are no observable diffrentiating characterstics we can't claim multiplicity of causes of universe.

On the Offset, i would like to invite all the readers rather say Monist and Polytheist readers to logical and rational Monotheism.

True Concept of Avatar in Hinduism

Avatar according to common Hindus

Common Hindus have the following concept of Avatar. Avatar is the Sanskrit term where ‘Av’ means ‘down’ and ‘tr’ means ’passover’. Thus Avatar means to descend down or to come down. The meaning of ‘Avatar’ in the oxford Dictionary is, “(In Hindu Mythology) the descent of a deity or released soul to earth in bodily form”. In simple words, Avatar according to common Hindus means Almighty God coming down to earth in bodily form.

A Common Hindu believes that God Almighty comes down to the earth in some bodily form to protect the religion, to set an example or to set the rules for human beings.

There is no reference of Avatars anywhere in the Vedas, the most sacred of the Hindu scriptures i.e. sruti. However it is found in the smrti i.e., the Puranas and the Itihasas.

It is mentioned in the most popular and widely read book of Hinduism

i) Bhagavad Geeta Chapter 4 verse 7-8:

Whenever there is a decay of righteousness, O Bharata, And a rise of unrighteousness, then I manifest Myself. For the protection of the good, for the destruction of the wicked and for the establishment of righteousness, I am born in every age.
(Bhagavad Geeta 4:7-8)

ii) It is mentioned in Bhagawata Purana:

“Whenever there is deterioration in righteousness and waxing of sinfulness, the glorious lord incarnates himself.”
(Bhagawata Purana 9:24:56)

No Concept of Avatar but Messenger in Veda and Islam
Islam does not believe that Almighty God takes human forms. He chooses a man amongst men and communicates with them on a higher level to deliver his message to the human beings – such individuals are called Messengers of God.

‘Avatar’, as mentioned earlier, is derived from ‘Av’ and ‘tr’, which means to descend down or come down. Some scholars state that God’s Avatar indicates a possessive case and actually means the coming of a man “who is in special relationship with God”. Mention of such chosen men of God appears in several places in all the four Vedas. Thus if we have to reconcile Bhagavad Gita and Purana with the most authoritative scripture the Vedas, we have to agree that Bhagavad Gita and the Puranas, when they speak about Avatars, they refer to chosen men of God. Islam calls such men Prophets.

Dear Brothers & Sisters here is a complete definition of GOD with authentic references of both the religion (Hinduism & Islam). Please check whether your practice going against your scripture or not ! Read and compare which ever GOD you are worshiping and ask Question to yourself whether you are feeling joy by obeying GOD or disobeying GOD ?

1. Say: He is Allah, The One and Only.
(Al Qur’an 112:1)

It has a meaning which is very similar to:
“Ekam Evadvitiyam”
“He is only one without a second.”
(Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1)

2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
He begetteth not,
Nor is He begotten;
(Al Qur’an 112:2-3)

It has similar meaning as:
“He who knows Me as the unborn, as the beginning-less, as the Supreme Lord of all the Worlds.”
(Bhagvad Gita 10:3)

and “Of (check – or For Him?) Him there is neither parents nor Lord.”
(Shwetashvatara Upanishad 6:9)

3. And there is none
Like unto Him.
(Al Qur’an 112:4)

A similar message is given in Shwetashvatara Upanishad & Yajurveda:
“Na Tasya pratima asti”
“There is no likeness of Him.”
(Shwetashvatara Upanishad 4:19 & Yajurveda 32:3)

"na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no image of Him."
[Yajurveda 32:3]

"shudhama poapvidham"
"He is bodyless and pure."
[Yajurveda 40:8]6

Remember, the Brahma Sutra of Hindu Vedanta is:

‘Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan”
“Bhagwan ek hi hai dusara nahi hai, nahi hai, nahi hai, zara bhi nahi hai”.

“There is only one God, not the second, not at all, not at all, not in the least bit”.

INTRODUCTION OF HINDUISM

1. Definition of a Hindu

a. The word ‘Hindu’ has geographical significance and was used originally to refer to those people who lived beyond the river Sindhu or the region watered by the river Indus.

b. Historians say that it was first used by the Persians who came to India through the North Western passes of the Himalayas. The word ‘Hindu’ was also used by the Arabs.

c. This word ‘Hindu’ is nowhere mentioned in Indian Literature or Hindu Scriptures before the advent of Muslims to India, according to the Encyclopedia of Religions and Ethics (6:690)

d. Jawaharlal Nehru, in his book ‘Discovery of India’, writes on pg. 74-75, that the earliest reference to the word ‘Hindu’ can be traced to a tantrik of the 8th Century C.E., where it means a people and not a follower of a particular religion. The use of the word ‘Hindu’ in connection with a particular religion is of late occurrence.

e. In short the word ‘Hindu’ is a geographical definition or term which is used to refer to people who live beyond the river Indus or in other words to those who live in India.

2. Definition of Hinduism

a. Hinduism has been derived from the word Hindu. According to the New Encyclopedia Britannica 20:581, Hinduism was a name given in English language in the Nineteenth Century by the English people to the multiplicity of the beliefs and faiths of the people of the Indus land. The British writers in 1830 gave the word Hinduism to be used as the common name for all the beliefs of the people of India excluding the Muslims and converted Christians.

INTRODUCTION OF ISLAM

1. Definition of Islam.

Islam is an Arabic word, which comes from the word ‘Salm’ which means peace and from 'Silm', which means submitting your will to Allah – the Almighty God. In short Islam means peace acquired by submitting your will to Allah (swt).

The word Islam is mentioned in several places in the Qur’an and the Hadith including Surah Ali Imran, chapter 3, verse 19 and verse 85.

2. Definition of a Muslim

A Muslim is a person who submits his will to Allah – the Almighty God.

The word Muslim is mentioned several times in the Qur’an and Hadith including Surah Ali Imran Chapter 3 Verse 64 and Surah Fussilat Chapter 41 Verse 33.

3. A misconception about Islam

Many people have a misconception that Islam is a new religion that was formulated 1400 years ago, and that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the founder of Islam. However, let me clarify that Islam is not the name of some unique religion presented for the first time by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who should, on that account be called the founder of Islam.

The Qur’an states that Islam – the complete submission of man before his one and only Unique Creator – is the one and only faith and way of life consistently revealed by God to humankind from the very beginning. Noah, Solomon, David, Abraham, Moses, Isaac and Jesus (peace be upon them all) – prophets who appeared at different times and places – all propagated the same faith and conveyed the same message of Tawheed (Oneness of God), Risaalat (Prophethood) and Aakhirah (the Hereafter). These prophets of God were not founders of different religions to be named after them. They were each reiterating the message and faith of their predecessors.

However, Muhammad (pbuh) was the last Prophet of God. God revived through him the same genuine faith which had been conveyed by all His Prophets. This original message was earlier corrupted and split into various religions by people of different ages, who indulged in interpolations and admixture. These alien elements were eliminated by God, and Islam – in its pure and original form – was transmitted to humankind through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Since there was to be no messenger after Muhammad (pbuh), the Book revealed to him (i.e. the Glorious Qur’an) was preserved word for word so that it should be a source of guidance for all times.

Thus the religion of all the prophets was ‘total submission to God’s will’ and one word for that in the Arabic language is ‘Islam’. Abraham and Jesus (peace be upon them) too were Muslims, as Allah testifies in Al-Qur'an 3:67 and 3:52 respectively.

There is only one God and one Religion also the Religion of Submission to that true one God almighty for aquiring Peace.

Amazing Powerful Azaan - [Call to Prayer]

The adhān (Arabic: أَذَان‎ Azaan) is the Islamic call to prayer, Most of us have heard the sound of ‘Azaan’ or the Call for prayer emanating from mosques at some time or the other. The call for prayer is given 5 times a day as it is required of a practicing Muslim to pray 5 times a day. The actual prayers start within a short time after the call for prayer is given. There is a dedicated person usually to give the Azaan at a mosque and is called the ‘Mu’azzin’. This method of calling people was formulated during the time of the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) after other methods like blowing of horns, ringing of bells etc were rejected. The amazing part about the Azaan is that Azaan will be given every moment somewhere in the world.

Why should one accept Islam?

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Title:

In this pamphet of mine I would try to enlighten the reader about some logical arguments which leads one to accept Islam. Islam is the most practised religion on the face of earth (practising muslims are more than practising Christians/Christian population is more than Muslim population). Before asking oneself the question ‘’Why should I accept Islam’’, one should already have asked himself ‘’Why shouldn’t I accept Islam’’. If you start with ‘’Why should I accept Islam?’’ and do an unbiased research you will surely end with ‘’Why shouldn’t I accept Islam’’. This is an introductory article therefore in this article I wont be going into details.

One line sums it up:

The one line answer which I can give to this type of question is quoting the Glorious Quran from 3:19 which reads,’’……..the only religion in the sight of Allah is Islam…….’’. In this verse Allah swt says in a categoric statement that he wont accept any religion except Islam. Allah swt wont accept any other religion because He has chosen this religion for us. I quote from the glorious Quran Chapter 5 verse 3, ‘’……(I) have chosen for you Islam as your religion……’’.

Why do we accept Quran?

Now the question arises why should I accept that God said such and such things when I don’t believe in Quran. The Quran gives the reply to this query in Chapter 4 Verse 82, ‘’Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions.’’ The Glorious Quran has given us various ways to chek if its God word. One of them is the test of contradictions. If Quran contains one such contradiction then it seizes to be the word of God. But what do we find is the fact that no one has been able to produce a serious contradiction in the glorious Quran (I know of many websites publising contradictions in Quran but they can be answered). The Quran gives us another test in chapter 2 verse 23, ‘’And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah , if you should be truthful.’’ This challenge of producing a chapter which could be better than Quran in terms of elequence, rhythm, rhyme and literation has been standing since it was revealed 1400 years ago. No one has been able to and no one will ever be able to fulfill the challenge. Yet another test which Quran proposes is the test of authenticity which no religious scripture except Quran has passed. The Quran talks about it in chapter 15 verse 9, ‘’Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).’’ Reverend Bosworth Smith had to recognize this great reality. He said:

“… we have a book absolutely unique in its origin, in its preservation, and in the chaos of its contents, but on the substantial authenticity of which no one has ever been able to cast a serious doubt.”

While for other scriptures we find something different, e.g The Christian scholar, Professor Bart Ehran in his book "Misquoting Jesus" claims that we do not even have a "copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy" of anything from the original writings of any of the writers of the Old or the New Testament.

Not to forget the scientific accuracy of Quran. Not a single Quranic statement goes against any established scientific fact. Scientists like Keith L. Moore, E. Marshall Johnso, T.V.N. Persaud, Joe Leigh Simpson, Gerald C. Goeringer, Alfred Kroner, Yushidi Kusan have commented on the scientific miracles of Quran.

Putting point one and point two together:

Now having reached a conclusion that Quran is the word of God one is left with no choice other than accepting Islam as the true religion because Allah swt clearly tells us that he has chosen Islam for us.

But here again Islam goes a step further and shows us a way to make a society where no one robs. (I wont be going into details of how, this is just an introductory article). Islam has been able to eradicate social evils like racism, gender bias, dowry, unlimited polygamy, prostitution, rape, porn, incest upto a conciderable height. Other religions have failed miserably on these grounds. No wonder USA has the highest rape count, followed by United Kingdom, France, Germany and Russia. In fact all the countries in top twenty are muslim minority. And the lowest rape count is found in Saudi Arabia followed by Azerbhaijan, Yemen and Indonesia which are all Muslim majority.

Your religion is your guide:

Your religion should be your guide. It should have answer to most of logical Dos and Don’ts. It should be a way of life for you and it should really touch all the major fields of life. So far as my study is concerned I havent found any religion having such a comprehensive system of laws. Sharia deals with many topics addressed by secular law, including crime, politics and economics, as well as personal matters such as sexuality, hygiene, diet, prayer, and fasting.

Your leader should be an ideal personality:

By ideal personality I mean you should be looking onto his example to how to lead your life. You are a student, he should be your role model. You are a teacher, he should be your role model. Whenever you have a problem you should have a solotion from him. He should really be a really diverse leader. I wont touch this point in detail myself but I would like to quote a historian and this will do it for me.

Conclusion

When I am left with no reason to reject Islam, I ask myself one last question. Does Islam give me salvation and does god really forgive my sins.

Qur'an ensures us forgiveness from all sins:

"Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." Qur'an 39:53.

In fact, the Qur'an tells us exactly what we need to attain salvation {freedom from sin and the punishment of sin} in the very second Surah of the Qur'an:

"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah -Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful." Qur'an 2:2-5.

The Qur'an sums up what a Muslim needs to attain salvation within 4 ayats {lines} in the Qur'an. A fully comprehensive description of what entails one to salvation in Islam in the very second Surah.

To sum it all up Allah swt says in Chapter 48, Verse 28

"It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion: and enough is Allah for a Witness."

All religions basically teach followers to do good deeds. Why should a person only follow Islam? Can he not follow any of the religions?

1. Major difference between Islam and most other religions

All religions basically exhort humankind to be righteous and eschew evil. But Islam goes beyond that. It guides us towards practical ways of achieving righteousness and eliminating evil from our individual and collective lives. Islam takes into account human nature and the complexities of human society. Islam is guidance from the Creator Himself. Therefore, Islam is also called the Deen-ul- Fitrah (the natural religion of Man).

2. Example - Islam commands us to shun robbery and also prescribes method of eliminating robbery

a. Islam prescribes method of eliminating robbery

All major religions teach that theft is an evil act. Islam teaches the same. So what is the difference between Islam and the other religions? The difference lies in the fact that Islam, besides teaching that robbing is evil, shows a practical way of creating a social structure in which people will not rob.

b. Islam prescribes Zakaat

Islam prescribes a system of Zakaat (obligatory annual charity). Islamic law prescribes that every person who has a saving that exceeds the nisaab level i.e. more than 85 grams of gold, should give 2.5% of that saving every lunar year in charity. If every rich person in the world gives Zakaat sincerely, poverty will be eradicated from this world. Not a single human being would die of hunger.

c. Chopping-off the hand as punishment for robbery

Islam prescribes chopping-off the hand of the convicted robber. The Glorious Qur’an says in Surah Al Maidah:

“As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power, full of wisdom.”

[ Al-Qur’an 5:38]

The non-Muslim may say, “Chopping-off the hand in this 20th century. Islam is a barbaric and ruthless religion!”

d. Results achieved when Islamic Shari’ah is Implemented

America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries in the world. Unfortunately it also has one of the highest rates of crime, theft, and robbery. Suppose the Islamic shari’ah is implemented in America i.e. every rich person gives Zakaat ( 2.5% of his savings in charity above 85 grams of gold every lunar year), and every convicted robber has his or her hand chopped-off as a punishment. Will the rate of theft and robbery in America increase, remain same or decrease? Naturally it will decrease. Moreover, the existence of such a stringent law would discourage many a potential robber.

I agree that the amount of theft that takes place in the world today is so tremendous that if you chop-off the hand of all the thieves, there will be tens of thousands of people whose hands will be chopped off. The point here is that the moment you implement this law the rate of theft will decline immediately. The potential robber would give it a serious thought before jeopardizing his limbs. The mere thought of the punishment itself will discourage majority of the robbers. There will barely be a few who would rob. Hence only a few persons’ hand would be chopped-off but millions would live peacefully without fear of being robbed.

Islamic Shari’ah is therefore practical, and achieves results.

3. Example — Islam prohibits the molestation and rape of women. It enjoins hijaab and prescribes capital punishment for a convicted rapist

a. Islam prescribes method of eliminating molestation and rape

All the major religions declare the molestation and rape of women as grave sins. Islam teaches the same. What then is the difference between Islam and the other religions? The difference lies in the fact that Islam does not merely preach respect for women, or abhor molestation and rape as serious crimes, but also gives clear guidance as to how society can eliminate such crimes.

b. Hijaab for men

Islam has a system of hijaab. The Glorious Qur’an first mentions hijaab for the men and then for the women. Hijaab for the men is mentioned in the following verse:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.”

[Al Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

c. Hijaab for women

Hijaab for women is mentioned in the following verse:

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons....”

[Al Qur’an 24:31]

The extent of hijaab for a woman is that her complete body should be covered. The only part that can be seen, are the face and the hands upto the wrists. If they wish to cover, they can even cover these parts of the body. However some Islamic scholars insist that even the face should be covered.

d. Hijaab prevents molestation

The reason why Allah has prescribed Hijaab for the women is given in the Qur’an in the folowing verse of Surah Al Ahzaab:

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women,that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, most Merciful.”

[Al Qur’an 33:59]

The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this would prevent them from being molested.

e. Example of twin sisters

Suppose two sisters who are twins and who are equally beautiful, walk down a street. One of them is wearing the Islamic Hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered except for the face and the hands upto the wrists, and the other twin is wearing a miniskirt or shorts. Around the corner there is a hooligan who is waiting for an opportunity to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic hijaab or the girl wearing the miniskirt or shorts? Dresses that expose more than they conceal, are an indirect temptation to the opposite sex for teasing, molestation and rape. The Qur’an rightly says that the hijaab prevents women from being molested.

f. Capital punishment for rapist

The Islamic shari’ah prescribes capital punishment for a convicted rapist. The non- Muslim may be horrified at such a stringent punishment in this age. Many accuse Islam of being ruthless and barbaric. I have asked a common question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose God-forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister and you are made the judge. The rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said, “we would put him to death”. Some went to the extent of saying, “we would torture him to death”. If your wife or your mother is raped you want the rapist to be put to death. But if someone else’s wife or mother is raped, capital punishment is a barbaric law. Why the double standards?

g. USA has one of the highest rates of rape

The United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. An FBI report in the year 1990 says that 1,02,555 cases of rape were reported. It further says that only 16% of the cases of rape are reported. Thus, in order to know the actual number of rape that took place in 1990, the reported figure should be multiplied by 6.25. We get a total of 6,40,968 rape cases that took place in the year 1990. If the total is divided by 365 the number of days in a year, we get an average of 1,756 rape incidents everyday.

Later another report said that an average of 1900 cases of rape are committed in USA every day. According to National Crime Victimization Survey, Bureau of Justice Statistics (US Department. of Justice) in 1996 alone 3,07,000 cases of rape were reported. Only 31% of the actual cases of rape were reported. Thus, 3,07,000 x 3.226 = 9,90,322 rapes took place in 1996. That is, an average of 2,713 cases of rape took place everyday in America in 1996. Every 32 seconds one rape is taking place in America. Maybe American rapists got bolder. The FBI report of 1990 continues and says that out of the rape cases that were reported only 10% of the rapists were arrested, that is only 1.6% of the actual rapes committed. Out of those arrested, 50% were let free before the trial. This would mean that only 0.8% of the rapists faced a trial. In other words if a person commits 125 rapes the chances that he will get a punishment for rape is only once. Many would consider this a good gamble. And the report says that of those people who faced trial 50% received sentences of less than a year’s imprisonment, though the American law says rape carries a seven-year sentence of imprisonment. For a rapist, the judge is lenient to first time offenders. Imagine a person commits 125 rapes and the chances of being convicted is only once, and 50% of the time the judge will grant leniency and give a sentence of less than a year!

h. Results achieved when Islamic Shari’ah is Implemented

Suppose the Islamic shari’ah is implemented in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrists. After this if any man commits rape, he gets capital punishment. The question is, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same or will it decrease? Naturally it will decrease. Islamic Shari’ahgets results.

4. Islam has practical solutions for the problems of humankind

Islam is the best way of life because its teachings are not doctrinaire rhetoric but practical solutions for the problems of humankind. Islam achieves results both at the individual and collective levels. Islam is the best way of life because it is a practical and universal religion not confined to any ethnic group or nationality.
