SHOSHONE COUNTY, ID — The family of Anthony Banker is speaking out, alleging a troubling pattern of misconduct, conflicts of interest, and a lack of accountability by Shoshone County law enforcement, prosecutors, and the court system.

In a candid interview, Anthony’s mother, grandmother, and aunt describe what they call a “coordinated effort” to target him, take his daughter from him, and ultimately secure his conviction—despite what they say was a complete lack of evidence.

First Incident: ‘Ripped Out Of Bed’

According to the family, the ordeal began in February 2023 when Shoshone County deputies—five to seven officers deep, with rifles drawn—arrived at Anthony’s home near Donner Pass, outside Wallace.

They allege the officers had paperwork only to “check on things,” not to remove a child. Nonetheless, they say deputies tore Anthony’s young daughter out of bed, handcuffed him, and searched the home.

The family says no female officer or CPS representative was present, and their granddaughter was transported to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office before being sent to Washington State with her mother a few days later.

No Evidence, No Accountability

The family alleges the mother who filed the complaint had “no proof” for her allegations. In a Washington courtroom, the judge reportedly asked, “Where’s the child?”—because no one seemed to know her whereabouts.

All charges were dropped. Anthony was given his daughter back. But a month later, a deputy reportedly admitted what they did was “incorrect.”

Still, the family says Anthony continued to be watched, harassed, and ultimately targeted again.

Second Incident, Criminal Conviction

In November 2023, Shoshone County deputies returned—this time arresting Anthony on child abuse felony charges involving the son of Sage Bryant, a family friend of Anthony. The family alleges the case was built on fabricated statements, withheld evidence, and testimony from people with close ties to the prosecution.

Charges included:

5 counts of felony injury to a child

1 count of felony destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence

Anthony was convicted by a jury on all counts Friday, August 28, 2026. Sentencing is scheduled for November 2026.

“We believe this was a witch hunt,” said his mother, Lynette Wayland. “They took my son’s freedom and his daughter—and no one in Shoshone County will be held accountable.”

My U.S. Senate Platform For Border Security

Idaho is about 2,000 miles from the southern border, but anyone who believes border security is only a Texas or Arizona issue hasn’t been paying attention.

I’m running for the United States Senate as an outsider, a businessman, and an America First conservative because I see the consequences of Washington’s failures showing up in our communities, our schools, and our job sites. Border security is at the top of the list of those failures. It is an economic, cultural, and public safety issue that demands serious leadership with not only common sense solutions, but also creative solutions, which is what I want to offer to Idaho and the U.S. Senate.

For starters, two policies are essential: mandatory E-Verify and a responsible, humane remigration strategy rooted in global restabilization efforts which can only be achieved by an Anti-War candidate such as myself.

Remigration is more than just deportations. It is also incentivizing migrants to return to their home countries voluntarily. Remigration is justice: For both Americans and for the migrants.

It goes hand in hand with my Anti-War and Anti-Foreign Entanglement position. The Forever Wars and efforts to play God around the world have displaced millions around the world. These unnecessary humanitarian crises are a major factor causing the migration crises our nation faces. It is our job as conservatives to lead with remigration solutions that are more rooted in justice and compassion for both Americans and migrants than anyone else, and to demonstrate to all of America that there are remigration solutions that do provide true justice for everyone involved.

For decades, career politicians promised to secure the border, yet each year the crisis worsened. Businesses like mine plan budgets carefully, measure risk, and hold people accountable. One of the biggest problems on the American Right is that we continue to get tricked into believing the establishment will give up its slave-labor force and grant us true mass deportations. Politicians have been dropping press releases, holding hearings, talking tough on TV, and then allowing the problem to grow. Meanwhile, Idaho families deal with rising housing costs, strained services, and unfair competition for wages. When the federal government refuses to enforce immigration law, it sends a message to American workers that they come second in their own country.

When illegal immigration accelerates, it places pressure on housing markets, hospitals, and schools. Small towns that planned responsibly suddenly face rapid population changes without the infrastructure to handle them. Taxpayers are left to cover the difference. That is not compassion. That is negligence.

I believe in an America First immigration policy that respects the law, protects American workers, and treats people with dignity. That starts with securing the border, but it cannot end there. If we want meaningful reform, we must also address what happens inside the country.

Critics claim mandatory E-Verify would hurt the economy. I disagree. Idaho businesses succeed because of innovation, hard work, and fair competition. We should not depend on illegal labor to remain competitive. Instead, we should invest in workforce development, vocational training, and opportunities for Idaho workers. When we prioritize American labor, we strengthen communities and build long-term prosperity.

Mandatory E-Verify is simple. If you want to work in the United States, employers must confirm you are legally eligible. As a business owner, I followed E-Verify laws, and it angers me to see massive corporations ignoring the rules and hiring illegal labor. Law-abiding businesses are put at a disadvantage and American wages are undercut. Strong enforcement of E-Verify levels the playing field, protects wages, and removes the economic incentive that drives illegal immigration in the first place. Here in Idaho, I support the passing of Senate Bill 1247, which would require all state and local governments and large government contractors to use the E-Verify system and would create 287(g) agreements between local law enforcement and the federal government to enforce E-Verify. But that’s not enough, every business should be following E-Verify laws, just as I did, and I want to make it national policy.

Enforcement of E-Verify alone also is not enough. We must also confront the difficult question of how to address the millions of people who entered the country illegally. That conversation often becomes heated, but we can approach it with both firmness and humanity. I support remigration, and remigration means justice for all involved, not cruelty. Remigration is not about punishment. It is about restoring the rule of law. It means encouraging and requiring individuals who entered illegally to return to their home countries through orderly, lawful processes.

We also need to ensure that our Border Patrol is maximizing its resources to the areas of concern that matter most. As a proud Republican who believes in strong borders, individual liberty, and respect for tribal sovereignty, I wholeheartedly endorse the Tribal Border Crossing Parity Act. This is bipartisan bill, introduced by Reps. Russ Fulcher (R-ID) and Derek Kilmer (D-WA) in March 2024, to eliminate blood quantum requirements for Tribal members crossing our border.

This bill actually strengthens our Northern border by enabling Border Patrol to quickly process legitimate tribal crossings and devote far more resources to detecting and preventing illegal crossings by non-tribal individuals attempting to exploit the system. Not only that, but the passage of this bill would mark the beginning of a partnership between our federal government and Tribal governments along the northern border to strengthen our border.

On the surface, this bill looks like a small reallocation of resources for our border security, but the long-term impact of strengthening the relationships between Tribal governments along our border, and the federal government, could be astronomical. As Senator, I will be looking for every possible way to maximize our border security.

Washington insiders often dismiss the concerns discussed in this article, but they do not live with the results. They do not run small businesses trying to compete fairly. They do not see the pressure on rural hospitals. They do not hear from parents worried about overcrowded classrooms. As an outsider candidate, I am running precisely because these voices are ignored.

Idaho deserves a senator who understands business realities and respects the rule of law. We need leadership that puts American workers first, secures the border, and restores accountability. Mandatory E-Verify and humane remigration are not radical ideas. They are practical solutions grounded in fairness, compassion, and common sense, and there are creative ways to make a reality. I truly believe a nation that cannot enforce its immigration system loses control of its future, and I will fight to secure a future for Idaho’s children and grandchildren.

Editor’s Note: A few days ago, the Idaho Tribune was sent a letter from a concerned citizen about the Mosquito Abatement District in Emmett, Idaho. Recently, independent journalist Casey Whalen also created a mini-documentary about this issue that is worth the watch.

WATCH:

By a Concerned Citizen:

Last Spring, my family gave up on gardening. Having been blocked from opting out of Dibrom – the pesticide released via airplanes contracted by the Gem County Mosquito Abatement District – we realized our efforts to grow clean, affordable produce had become futile. My son took down the stakes for our beans and my daughter ripped out spent plants that had been so beautiful in the previous season.

But what about Idaho Title 39? It states that property owners can “be excluded from treatment” and that “the abatement district shall refrain” when an individual has opted out. If we maintain this lawful option, why does the annual opt-out form allow relief from ground spraying but not from aerial adulticides? Instead, it states, “Due to the nature of the aircraft, those located within the treatment block may NOT be excluded from these treatments.” GCMAD Manager Cody Johns has echoed the sentiment: “aerials can not be opted out of.”

Concerned residents have been unable to get answers. Commissioner Bill Butticci instructed us to contact the GCMAD Board, stating the commissioners “have no authority over them.” (Emphasis added.) Yet emails to the GCMAD Board went unanswered and efforts to speak to them in person were stonewalled.

We were not without progress last year, however. GCMAD finally released more product and safety data sheets on their website. The nine different products listed (at time of publishing) – including active ingredient Naled – may have been previously unknown to some residents. (I remember when I thought they “only” sprayed Permethrin and consequently welcomed treatment myself.)

But after studying the patterns on our land post-application, something seemed off. We’d notice a slight reduction in mosquitos for a few hours but what struck us was the wider ecological impact: dead dragonflies, dead aquatic insects, dead frogs, dead birds, dead bees. And the “fittest” mosquitos, it seemed, would be back in full force the next day to keep breeding. In his report, “Impact of Naled (Dibrom 14)…” – a long-term study tracking the use of this pesticide – JJ Howard relayed his findings that the total mosquito population increased 15 fold after 11 years!

The safety data sheet for Dibrom notes it is “very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects…toxic to fish, birds and other wildlife” and “highly toxic to bees.” Perhaps we should be asking whether this strategy isn’t counterproductive to its stated goal—at least in the long term? Knocking down mosquitoes for a half day, sure, but potentially taking all of God’s natural, free and non-toxic predators with them.

What if instead of spraying questionable products purchased from mega corporations like American Vanguard – which conceal the vast majority of their ingredients as proprietary – GCMAD considered cleaner, cheaper and more sustainable alternatives? Trialing bat boxes, garlic products and wider community education about best practices. In fact in private meetings, Johns himself confirmed that “bats work” and his own employee reported that one large landowner who opts out of treatment has had great success employing garlic as a deterrent. Instead of threatening land owners as “harborers,” perhaps officials should focus their attention on rampant overgrown vegetation found widely on neglected County land.

Inquiries to Johns about the inability to fully opt-out weren’t countered by legal merits but instead with the threat of West Nile virus. Serious for people? You bet. Horrible for horses? Definitely. But prolific in Gem County or even in Idaho? Nope. According to the CDC, Idaho only recorded six human cases statewide – and zero deaths – in 2024.

Shouldn’t we focus on the prevalent threats when seeking to allocate our precious tax dollars in a way that does the most good? The “Gem County Cancer Profile,” indicates we averaged a higher cancer rate than the state and the state averaged higher than the country from 2018 to 2022! While valid concerns about contagions should not be dismissed, we must recognize that the elephant in the room is suffering from chronic disease, not West Nile.

As noted by the Environmental Working Group, EPA approvals often lag behind research, failing to remain up-to-date with science or recognize correlations between environmental toxins and chronic disease. If DDT were approved today – who would use it? Trading our own due diligence for the assurances of government bureaucrats is a grave mistake though often we don’t realize the consequences until it’s too late.

Efficacy and potential hazards aside, fundamental property rights hang in the balance. The legislature has codified law mandating our right to opt out. “Shall refrain” stands without qualification and therefore means no quads, no trucks, no drones, no airplanes and no trespassing! If those of us living in abatement districts across the state don’t actually stand for our rights now, then the Gadsden flags and gun clutching were all for show.

(Kootenai Journal) — I’m going to fill you in on the current situation at NIC. I’m doing this as a concerned citizen and not representing the Board of Trustees.

Right now, NIC is doing very well. It has turned the corner in a number of areas and the future looks bright.

However, this is recent. I’m sure you have all heard about the problems with accreditation and enrollment. So, let’s talk about these topics.

First, a little background. I am sharing these insights based on my experience in Fortune 100 company management, where for many years I was responsible for overhauling groups that were in need of change. For example, another man and I redesigned a company of 24,500 employees and its annual report stated the changes helped them survive. This is the big picture approach I am using to explain the current situation.

From my perspective, our beloved North Idaho College, being over 90 years old, needed big changes. This situation is typical for organizations this old. Most organizations don’t even last this long, and major changes are always messy and unpopular since people generally do not like change.

Three years ago, there was turmoil on the NIC Board of Trustees:

A conservative majority of new trustees had been elected, including Greg McKenzie and Michael Barnes.

For about 12 years, NIC had suffered enrollment declines, an average of 3-6% per year.

The enrollment decline continued under the college’s management at that time, so the conservative majority made changes.

Two years ago, a conservative majority was again elected by the voters, and Board Chairs were selected from the conservative majority. The results show good progress.

Accreditation:

Accreditation concerns are being diligently resolved and the situation is continually improving. There were about 20 issues for the Board and the Administration to address, and they are all being addressed.

Please see the image below which shows accreditation review data for governance. Green means progress. Note the various status dates and how most measurements are now close to three, which is average. Note how they have been improving over time. These are issues that the accreditation organization has identified, and we have worked hard and done all we can at this point to address them.

Also, the Board and the college are updating many of its processes, some of which were 20 years old. Currently, we are waiting for the accreditation organization to re-evaluate us on October 14-15.

Enrollment:

Enrollment is up from last year by about 15%, a stark contrast to the declines during the previous 12 years.

Enrollment in 2020 was 4,801, in 2023 it was 3,981. Now it is back up to 4,537.

Dual Enrollment for high school students at NIC is up.

Enrollment is up in Career and Technical Education (CTE) at Parker Center in Rathdrum.

Other student enrollment categories are up as well.

Finances:

NIC’s finances are in good shape, and the NIC Foundation has increased its endowment to $45 million.

Summary:

The conservative majority changed the original management of the college.

The whole Board, the new President, the Staff, and the Faculty have worked very hard to turn NIC around.

It all started with the Board replacing the management. This was strongly resisted. But it has worked. We need to thank those members who made the original changes. They are Todd Banducci, Greg McKenzie, and Michael Barnes.

In short, the ship has been turned and is continuing to improve. I believe it will keep improving and the college will provide more and more benefit to the community as an educational organization and as an umbrella for a series of grants for social services such as Head Start, GED, elder career, and so on.

Thanks to everyone working hard, the future looks bright at NIC.

Turns out the Democrats are the real conspiracy theorists.

On October 1st, North Idaho democrats held a press conference in front of Senator Phil Hart’s Kellogg home claiming that the Senator doesn’t live there.

Their claim was not supported by any evidence that Senator Hart lived at another location. The crux of the democrat’s theory is that Hart is taking a long time to remodel his home, and therefore must be living somewhere else.

Hart, whose day job is working as a structural engineer, said to Tribune reporters:

“Carpentry is a hobby of mine, and the carpentry experience I am getting remodeling my home makes me a better engineer. When I get my current remodel project done, I am planning on building a concrete gazebo in the back yard with a concrete dome.”

The complaint filed with the Secretary of State’s office by liberal activist Deborah Rose, and Kootenai County Democratic Party Chair Evan Koch was not a verified complaint, as it was e-mailed and lacked a signature.

Deborah Rose (left) Evan Koch (Right)

The complaint did not include any facts, only theories. The initial (now debunked complaint) reads as follows:

Dear Secretary McGrane,

We, the undersigned, are registered voters residing in Legislative District 2 of Idaho and are writing to respectfully request an investigation into the residency of Senator Phil Hart. Senator Hart is currently registered to vote at [REDACTED]. However, this address has been under construction for several years, and we have reason to believe that Senator Hart is not residing at this location as required by law.

As concerned citizens from both sides of the political aisle — one a registered Democrat and the other a registered Republican — we are united in our desire to ensure that our elected officials are adhering to the residency requirements set forth by Idaho law. We believe that transparency and accountability are essential to maintaining the integrity of our electoral system.

Given the extended construction on the property and concerns raised by residents within our community, we ask that your office investigate whether Senator Hart is in fact residing within Legislative District 2 or whether he is residing outside the district, which would be a violation of Idaho’s residency requirements for state legislators.

This is a bipartisan request motivated purely by our shared commitment to the rule of law and the democratic process. We trust that your office will thoroughly review this matter and take appropriate action to ensure compliance with Idaho’s election laws.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. We look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Debra Rose
Registered Voter, Legislative District 2

Bruce (Evan) Koch
Registered Voter, Legislative District 2

Rose and Koch’s “complaint” ignored the elements needed to be proven in a court to have a successful outcome. There is plenty of case law that can be relied on for guidance. On top of that, the entire complaint was constitutionally misdirected as it is the Senate that has jurisdiction to judge the “qualifications… of its own members” according to the Idaho Constitution, Article 3, Section 9.

On Tuesday, October 8, the Secretary of State’s office issued a letter stating that their office concluded that Senator Hart meets the residency requirements to be the Senator representing Legislative District 2.

BREAKING: The Idaho Tribune has obtained a document from the Idaho Secretary of State's office that @SenatorPhilHart "was able to provide proof pursuant to Idaho Code § 34-411(4) and § 34-107 of his residence in Kellogg."

Case closed! Phil Hart will be on the ballot Nov. 5th! pic.twitter.com/N3WxOKkRzy

— Idaho Tribune (@IdahoTribune) October 9, 2024

Consequently, Senator Hart remains on the November ballot, and is endorsed by the Kootenai County Republican Central committee.

Hart’s opponent looks like he should spend more time reading Idaho’s Constitution, instead of creating wild Conspiracy Theories.

(Hayden, Idaho) — North Idaho College President Nick Swayne has come out as a proud, Trump-Hating LIBERAL.

Outside of the Hayden home of Nick and Nikki Swayne is a sign that reads “I’m a veteran. Not a sucker or a loser,” a reference to an anti-Trump liberal trope that has been bandied about by the supporters of Kamala Harris, and Neo-Conservative McCain Republicans.

The sign is sold by a website called Vote Vets, a Democrat Political Action Committee.

For those of you who are unaware, Nick Swayne was not hired as NIC’s President by an elected board of trustees, instead, he was appointed by hand-picked trustees who were themselves appointed by an unelected cabal of liberal activists.

As documented here, over the last few years, we have seen the encroachment on Americans’ civil liberties by those who either hate the Constitution and the idea of a constitutional republic or are inept and not educated on the concept of God-given, un-a-lien-able rights.

The City of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho is no exception.

On July 2, 2024, the City Council of Coeur d’Alene passed a hate crime ordinance. It’s essentially a mirror of the malicious harassment law in Idaho but laced with additional penalties to malign constitutionally minded citizens. It’s a simple way to put political opposition in a box that disagrees with socialists and the LGBTQ agenda, a method to chill free speech.

A cadre of citizens spoke in favor of the hate crime ordinance at the recent city council meeting; in fact, a majority have vested interests in a larger agenda: a conspiracy to garner social prestige in the community, play the victim to access more state and federal grant monies, and wage lawfare on their opposition.

The Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations (KCTFHR) had all hands on deck in support of the hate crime ordinance, which they helped create in tandem with the Human Rights Education Institute (HREI) and other nefarious Godless organizations that promote the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Agenda 21 (Agenda 2030).

Tony Stewart, secretary of the KCTFHR, led the public comments on July 2, 2024. The Director of the HREI, Jeanette Laster, spoke shortly after that. Chief Allen, the Chairman of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, lobbyist Eli Hancock followed her,

Aspects of the hate crime ordinance are broken down into subsections that address intimidation, malicious injury to property, harassment, assault and battery, public nuisance, disorderly conduct, threat, and conspiracy, which are already current laws but are tailored to address perceived race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability or national origin.

On July 4, 2024, I attended the Independence Day Parade to document the event and film the public’s reaction to the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce’s recent decision to allow religious symbols after threatening to ban such items. Of course, this enraged the community, and an intense backlash promoting liberty prevailed.

I decided to film our local city councilmen to boo and shame them as they made their way down Sherman Avenue while participating in the parade. Video here »»» https://x.com/casey_whalen/status/1809261413057314947

City Councilman Dan Gookin thought it would be funny to call Dave Reilly (delegate for the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee) and I white supremacists and racists as he slowly passed in the procession, probably not remotely thinking about the recently passed hate crime ordinance.

The next day, I contacted the US District Attorney’s office in Coeur d’Alene to report a hate crime by Dan Gookin. As reported here multiple times, the Department of Justice launched a program in 2022 called United Against Hate. On September 15, 2022, Attorney General of the Department of Justice Merrick Garland hosted an event at the White House entitled United We Stand.

The program United Against Hate created a mechanism to report perceived hate crimes and fold in the community, as promoted by local Assistant US Attorney for the State of Idaho Traci Whelan. In conjunction with the FBI (along with Coeur d’Alene FBI Agent Bryant Gunnerson), Whelan has implored the community to report hate incidents/crimes to their respective offices.

The Jabara-Heyer No Hate Act of 2021 funded states to create hotlines for reporting hate. States have since passed laws that provide further funding for hotlines and reporting. Human Rights Networks nationwide provide forms to report hate, which are sent to the ADL, SPLC, etc., as well as law enforcement and fed to state fusion centers, which relay information to and from local police and sheriff departments.

I also contacted the Coeur d’Alene Police and spoke with Officer Rogers to inquire if Mr. Gookin violated the new ordinance.

The 2024 legislative session ended with a lot of drama. Two big private sector deals, both involving the State of Idaho and Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Winder, fell apart. Both deals, determined not to be in the best interest of Idaho tax payers, were undone by the legislature. This was done over the antics and objections of Senator Pro Tempore Chuck Winder, who said “I will die on this hill” in his attempt to push these deals through. Why expend all your political capital on one deal? Is there a conflict of interest?

One was the attempted purchase of the University of Phoenix (a bailout in reality) by the University of Idaho’s president Scott Green for $685 million. Senator Winder tried to rescue this deal with Senate Bill 1450, which died on the Senate floor on a 14 to 19 vote.

The other deal was the $51.75 million buyout of the Idaho Department of Transportation’s headquarters 44 acre property on State Street in Boise which was declared to be surplus by the Idaho Transportation Board at their August 5, 2022 meeting. That action served to transfer the property to the Department of Administration for either disposal or sale to another state agency. The opportunity for another state agency to buy the property was extended for only 7 days, which is not a reasonable timeframe. Could it be that insiders wanted to shop around a private deal?

The property was appraised at $38 million, agreed to be purchased for $51.75 million and a year later was said to be worth $102 million. It was probably the most desirable Boise property for sale to real estate developers, yet the Transportation Board said it was “surplus property.” Idaho Code at 51-331 states surplus property is “no longer useful or usable…” yet this property is prime real estate and has many potential uses, as was proven by those who bid on the property and prepared a master plan.

On November 9, 2023, the Legislature’s Finance and Appropriations Committees (JFAC) toured the ITD headquarters building. On the tour, Idaho Department of Administration Director Steven Bailey told legislators, “In September, the state sold the property to a joint venture between The Pacific Companies, The Hawkins Companies and FJ Management…. for $51.7 million.” Legislators were lead to believe the sale to be a done deal, which frustrated many as the legislature had no voice in the process.

Later it came out that the deal was never signed and no earnest money had changed hands. Upon that realization, legislators started looking at alternatives. House Bill 409 was a result of these investigations, and on January 23, 2024 the House voted 70 to 0 to pass the bill. House Bill 409 was going to create a separate review process for such a property to insure all alternatives were considered.

House Bill 409, when it was sent to the Senate, never got a hearing in the Senate State Affairs Committee. That committee is controlled by the Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Winder. Reportedly, it was Winder that directed HB409 to be placed in the committee drawer. Many Senators thought a bill that passed the House on a 70 to 0 vote should at least get a hearing in the Senate.

Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Winder makes his living as a commercial real estate professional, and has so for decades. Senator Winder is a ‘Director’ at Cushman & Wakefield’s Boise office. You can read about Senator Winder’s real estate qualifications here.

Senator Winder’s son, Dave Winder, is also a ‘Director’ at Cushman & Wakefield’s Boise office, and you can read about Dave’s qualifications here.

The senior Winder, Chuck, has been active in Boise real estate for most of his adult life and is well known in that community. Senator Winder also served as chairman of the Idaho Transportation Board before he was a member of the Senate.

Winder should also be well known to the Boise based Hawkins Companies, one of the three joint venture buyers to the ITD 44 acre headquarters property. The Hawkins Companies just closed a $56 million financing deal for a multi-family housing project in Boise, and Cushman & Wakefield brokered that financing deal.

At no time in the multiple bill process concerning the sale of the Idaho Transportation Department’s headquarters property did Senator Chuck Winder declare that he had a conflict of interest. Yet his Boise office of Cushman & Wakefield just closed the $56 million financing deal noted above for one of the joint venture partners of the ITD headquarters purchase.

What was the duration of the negotiations on this $56 million funding package? Were either of the Winders involved in that $56 million financing deal? Was there a conflict? Idaho’s Attorney General should investigate. Senate Rule 39h requires that a Senator declare a conflict whenever a vote on the Senate floor may have an impact on that Senator. The Senator is welcome to vote, but he just must first declare the conflict. It is the practice of Idaho Senators to declare a conflict when there might be only a perception of such.

But not only did Hawkins Companies have a connection to Cushman & Wakefield, so did another of the three joint venture partners, FJ Management. FJ Management is a new owner of a commercial property next to Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. Just this spring, FJ Management cleared the property and is currently working with Cushman & Wakefield’s Ogden Utah office to develop a highest and best use for the property. The state of Utah is covered by both the Boise office and the Ogden office of Cushman & Wakefield. Did either of the Winder Directors, father or son, have a relationship with FJ Management? Its a reasonable question to ask.

When bids were offered for the Idaho Transportation Department’s 44 acre headquarters property, each bidder offered a master plan concept as to how they would develop the property. Elements of the master plans from the 9 bidders included 1,000 to 1,500 apartment living units, some of which would be low cost housing, 150 to 200 condo’s or town house homes, 150,000 to 200,000 square feet of commercial space and so on. Of the potential 1,000 to 2,000 end users, at least a handful of them would likely find their way to Chuck Winder’s office or Dave Winder’s office. This is enough of an appearance of a conflict for other Senators to make a declaration under the 39h rule. Yet Senator Chuck Winder never stood up on the Senate floor to do so.

Senate Rule 39H states:

“A Senator has the right to vote upon all questions before the Senate and to participate in the business of the Senate and its committees and, in so doing, the Senator is presumed to act in good faith and in the public interest. A Senator with a conflict of interest under applicable law shall, on the day of and before casting a vote on the Senate floor, disclose the conflict verbally or in writing to all members of the Senate present. The presiding officer shall ensure that such disclosure is entered upon the Journal….”

After HB409 got drawered, JFAC addressed the sale of the ITD headquarters property with HB723, an appropriations bill with intent language regarding the sale. This was a must pass bill as the entire Transportation Department would be dependent on funding provided by it.

After passing the House floor on a 35 to 34 vote, HB723 failed on the Senate floor with 16 senators voting yes and 19 senators voting no. The Senate spent almost two hours debating the bill. Senator Winder debated against this bill, but did not declare a conflict. In his attempt to kill this bill he even said “This is a hill I am willing to die on.” See the archived tape for Senate Chambers for March 28, 2024 at 2:39:00, 2:49:00 and 3:16:30.

At this late hour in the 2024 legislative session, a replacement bill to HB723 was needed because the Transportation Department still had holes in their budget. Senate Bill 1461 was quickly approved by JFAC and sent to the Senate. As this process took more than a day, and to cause the 2024 legislative session to end with a crescendo of drama, Senator Winder worked secretly with the Senate Parliamentarian to write a letter declaring SB 1461 in violation of Senate Rules.

Lieutenant Governor Scott Bedke, who is the President of the Senate, ruled that SB 1461 was out of order. Senate Majority leader Kelly Anthon challenged the ruling of the Chair, which challenge was ruled to have failed on a voice vote by Bedke. You can hear that voice vote achieved here, April 3, 2024 Senate Chambers at 4:01:15 and 4:05:50 and decide for yourself what the outcome really was. So yet another bill that would have undone the ITD headquarters property sale bit the dust.

It was Winder who stood up to debate against SB1461 and argued that the bill was out of order. But again, Winder did not declare a conflict according to Senate Rule 39h. In a similar situation, any other member of the Senate would have declared at least a potential conflict. Winder also broke tradition and did not forewarn anyone of his preplanned objection to the bill.

Finally, SB1461 was replaced by a hastily regrouping of JFAC who sent newly drafted House Bill 770 first to the House for their floor vote. House Bill 770 passed the House on a 37 to 31 vote. Upon arriving in the Senate, this time there was little debate, as that debate had already occurred on HB 723 and SB 1461 and the Senate Republican Caucus had just met in executive session for two hours. The Senate passed HB 770 on an 18 to 17 vote. The governor allowed HB770 to become law without his signature. By inserting policy language into a budget bill, the legislature overcame Winder’s “drawering” of HB409 and was able to undo the sale of the 44 acre ITD headquarters property.

One way or another, the Legislature was going to hang onto the 44 acre State Street property.

Finally, after Senator Winder burned up his entire store of political capital, and after the other Senators were ready to throw Winder out the window, for now, the 44 acres remains the property of the state of Idaho. HB770 provide $32 million dollars to renovate the headquarters building on the 44 acre property. By holding onto this property, another $56 million will be saved by retaining the existing concrete and asphalt testing labs, instead of building new labs at another location. We hope the voters of Legislative District 20 were paying attention to their Senator’s seemingly top priorities.

Idaho’s 78 year old President Pro Tempore of the Idaho Senate, Chuck Winder, has been serving in the Idaho State Senate for 15 Years. In the last several years he’s held one of the highest positions in Idaho Politics. With time, more and more decisions have come to light showing how he’s slowly drifted away from being a representative of the people to become yet another Yes Man in the legislature.

In 2023, University of Idaho President C. Scott Green tried unsuccessfully to purchase the University of Phoenix for a price tag of $685,000,000. There was just One Problem with this investment deal: C. Scott Green didn’t quite have the money to make the purchase! ($550 million for the purchase and $135 million in finance charges.)

When a public university buys a private university, we are growing government and traveling down a slippery slope of creating Big Government married to the private sector. Italian dictator Mussolini had a work for that relationship.

“Big Government,” is not what Idaho needs, but Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Winder disagrees. I’m not exactly talking about Winder being in favor of a California-style Regulatory State. I’m talking about Winder drafting legislation for the “Big Guys” of Wall Street who are never satisfied in their lust for power growing their empires.

It’s all there in black and white, printed in the form of Chuck Winder’s Senate Bill 1450.

Senate Bill 1450, deemed as a bill lending a taxpayer hand to taxpayer funded University of Idaho in the middle of a financial scandal, is anything but a Free Market solution. S1450 was an attempt by Pro Tempore Chuck Winder to rescue a corporate campaign donor from a buyout deal that failed to pass the Senate Floor on a 14 to 19 vote in the final days of the 2024 Legislative Session.

According to the words of Chuck Winder himself when presenting this bailout scheme on the Senate Floor, S1450 would have established a brand new Corporate Body Politic (created through a proposal called the “43 Education Act”), overseen by 2 Legislators appointed by Winder and House Speaker Mike Moyle, to bailout University of Idaho President C. Scott Green attempted purchase the University of Phoenix.

C. Scott Green has been the President of the University of Idaho since 2019. He is everything that is resembling of a World Economic Forum advocate, playing a crucial role in the Wall Street Industry of Big Banks for most of his life. Mr. Scott graduated from Harvard Business School in 1989. His service at the for Wall Street Banks includes time in the NYC Executive Office of Goldman Sachs, which is one of the most powerful Instrument of Globalist Cabal Larry Fink and his ongoing agenda to buy everything in sight.

In a strongly worded September 11, 2023 letter, three United States Senators, Durbin (Illinois), Warren (Massachusetts) and Blumenthal (Connecticut) advised U of I President Scott Green to abandon the University of Phoenix deal. They wrote,

“Given (University of) Phoenix’s long record of poor student outcomes, deception of veterans, and entanglements in federal investigations and enforcement actions, we urge you to reconsider the implications of acquiring Phoenix, which could cause great harm to students and taxpayers not only in Idaho but also across the country.”

The letter also warned Green of potential large financial liabilities for the University of Idaho given a “long history of deceptive business practices on the part of the University of Phoenix.”

President Green also paid his former employer, Hogan Lovells, a Washington D.C. based law firm with 48 offices, $7.3 million in consulting fees for advise on the University of Phoenix purchase. In total, $10 million was spent on consulting fees by the University of Idaho on the Phoenix deal.

However, $10 million of high priced lawyers missed one basic point, the University of Phoenix purchase was unconstitutional. So said Givens Pursley, a Boise law firm.

And the Legislature’s own in house counsel, Ms. Elisabeth Bowen, held the same opinion. Ms. Bowen wrote in a February 22, 2024 letter addressed to seven legislators,

“The Board has no constitutional or statutory authority to acquire, own, and operate a private institution or to assume its liabilities, either directly or indirectly through a corporation.”

None of this mattered to Pro Tempore Chuck Winder, he got the Senate State Affairs Committee, a committee he controls, to send SB 1450 to the Senate floor. It appears if the Boise swamp needs something done in the legislature, Winder is the go-to swamp facilitator.

Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador subpoenaed Green on alleged violations of Idaho Record and Transparency Laws with little to no public input on the purchase deal. The Idaho Supreme Court sided with Raul in rejecting the Idaho State Board of Education’s request to fast pace Green’s trial. (What was the trial?????) This puts Green in a serious predicament to meet his crucial May 31 Deadline for his University of Phoenix purchase deal.

With everything quickly heading to south for the University of Phoenix purchase, University of Idaho President, C. Scott Green decided to turn to the Idaho State Legislature for an easier solution.

Which is how we end up at S1450. A Socialist Sweetheart Deal printed by Chuck Winder to save a career Wall Street Investor’s bad business deal. To do this, Winder is willing to increase Government and make YOU pay for another man’s deal that you didn’t agree to fund.

It’s one thing to print a bill to grow government at the expense of the tax payer. But it takes a special kind of shenanigan to demand a seat at the table in your own bill by having an appointment of your choice, especially when the University President, who Chuck Winder tried to bail out, is one of Winder’s largest campaign donors:

One should hardly need to have a Crystal Ball to know that C. Scott Green wouldn’t be getting this special treatment from Chuck Winder if the roles were reversed and Green was a Solid Conservative tossing money at a bad investment by means of a tax funded institution.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s recent impeachment case, that included financial fraud allegations, weren’t remotely within the financial scope of what Green has been trying to do with the University of Phoenix Investment. This is the kind of thing that should permanently knock Chuck Winder out of the Senate Floor and remove C. Scott Green as University of Idaho President at the VERY least. Winder has seldom voted against big spending ideas, so it’s no wonder why Winder serves a former Wall Street actor over his own constituents in District 20.

If you’re an Idahoan who “wants to be left alone”, or if you hate the State of Idaho handing Bailouts to Big Cronies from Wall Street, Chuck Winder is NOT the guy who you should want Representing you, especially not as Pro Tempore of the Idaho Senate. If Winder loses the primary election, maybe Winder’s replacement will seek a refund of the entire $10 million in consulting fees because the entire deal was unconstitutional?

What is a Republican? Anyone who is qualified to vote can affiliate with the Republican Party and call themselves a “Republican.” There is no test or oath, just check a box and you are in. But what if there is a candidate who claims to be a Republican? Should you expect the candidate to hold the Republican values described in the Republican Platform? It is your job to determine what being a Republican means for each candidate or should the word “Republican” have a standard meaning?

You have reviewed the Republican Platform so you know what being a Republican means to you and you expect others to have roughly the same idea. But what if they don’t? What if a candidate believes they are a Republican because they SAY they are a Republican and not because they believe in Republican Principles? What if the candidate is philosophically a Democrat and they just call themselves a Republican so they can get elected and bring Democrat principles into the Republican Party? Do you want the Republican Party to do nothing to inform the voters?

Imagine you have a peanut allergy and a candy bar company uses peanuts but fails to list peanuts as an ingredient on the wrapper. You buy one of these candy bars after reading the list of ingredients, determine it is safe, so you eat it and moments later you frantically call 911 as your throat swells shut. Whose fault is it? Is it your fault for believing the wrapper and not testing the contents or is it the candy bar company’s fault for misrepresenting the ingredients? Of course it is the candy bar maker’s fault and a jury would agree and award you a sizable settlement.

If the Republican Party offers you a candidate that says “Republican” on the wrapper does the party have any obligation to ensure that what is inside is an actual Republican? Of course it does!

The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee’s (KCRCC) 73 unique precinct committeemen from every corner of Kootenai County agree with you that the Republican Party does have an obligation to inform you so you know if what is on the wrapper matches what’s inside.

Four years ago we put in place a process involving questionnaires, interviews, candidate forums, background checks and ultimately a special meeting of the entire central committee where we discuss each candidate. After the discussion, a paper ballot is issued to each member so they can cast a confidential vote for the candidate they believe the KCRCC should recommend as the best Republican for a particular office. The ballots are tallied in full view of the members, the results announced and immediately posted online.

We then publish the resulting list of recommended candidates for you to review. We also have the candidates questionnaires published on our website, KCRCC.com

This year we are also publishing a VOTER GUIDE which will soon arrive in your mailbox. The Voter Guide lists ALL the candidates and their positions on nine key issues that are important to Kootenai County Republicans. The KCRCC believes that good decisions are the result of having good information so we spend considerable time, effort and expense to provide you with the information you need to make your decision.

There are those that object to giving the voters this information. They don’t want their candidates to be closely examined. They object to the KCRCC making recommendations.

Why? Simple, they want power and to get power they need to fool you and they can’t fool you if you know what is under the wrapper. They don’t like many of the Republican principles listed in the Platform but they do like having power. They want the benefits of being a Republican Candidate but not the responsibility of being honest with the voters.

Of course they don’t tell you the truth about why they object to being measured against the Platform. They don’t tell you they want to fool you. Instead they make up crazy reasons to distract you from the truth. They say they want to be the party of Ronald Reagan while simultaneously trying to kick Pro-Trump conservatives out of the party. They want to silence conservative Republicans by replacing your precinct committeemen with one of their loyal followers.

This isn’t just happening here in Kootenai County. It is happening statewide. There is a statewide coordinated effort to crush the Republican Party and turn Idaho blue. An organization called the Gem State Conservatives has raised over a million dollars from undisclosed sources to take over key counties in Idaho, and Kootenai County is top of their list. They have funneled money and resources through the North Idaho Republicans (NIR) to their handpicked candidates who also happen to be endorsed by their allies, the Democrats.

The KCRCC is at a disadvantage because under state party rules County Central Committees cannot endorse Precinct Committeemen. Meanwhile NIR has no rules so they endorse Biden Voters, LGBTQ+ activists, real estate developers, supporters of all age drag shows, proponents of mask mandates, hate crime hoax promoters and leaders of special interest groups. All of them handed prefabricated campaign kits funded from undisclosed sources.

Will the KCRCC consist of grassroots MAGA Republicans like you, or “Astroturfed” -fake grass roots- members of special interest groups? You will decide Tuesday May 21st.
