The Singspiel Stakes was first contested in 2014 as a Listed race before being elevated to Group 3 class in 2018. It gained Group 2 status in 2020. It is named in honour of the racehorse Singspiel.

MALJOOM will need bounce back after disappointing reappearance three weeks ago at Abu Dhabi for new trainer Michael Costa, though had some very useful form in 2024 for William Haggas, including finishing second in Sussex stakes and third in Queen Anne Stakes .Been lightly raced since, though finished good third over C&D in G1 Dubai Turf on World Cup Night in 2025.Should come on for the first run of season. The Al Maktoum Challenge, is a horse race run over a distance of 1,900 metres (approximately one and three-sixteenth miles) on dirt in late January at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The event was known as Al Maktoum Challenge, Round 3 and was the third of three races in the Al Maktoum Challenge series which serve as trial races for the Dubai World Cup but was renamed in 2024

It was first run in 1994 on dirt at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. It was transferred to Meydan in 2010 where it was run on the synthetic Tapeta Footings surface. In 2015 the synthetic surface at Meydan was replaced by a dirt track.^[1]

The race began as an ungraded stakes race before attaining Listed status in 1996. The race was elevated to Group 3 level in 2000 and became a Group 2 event in 2002. The race became a Group 1 event in 2012.

Last years winner GIAVELLOTTO should go well after finishing good fourth in ARC at Longchamp in October , that was decent effort on testing ground (Best form on much quicker surface) Had previously won September Stakes at Kempton , beating the useful mare Kalpana in good style.Was also impressive winner of this race last year, beating Dubai Honour by 2.5L,after suffering quite bit interference early in straight .Looks the one to beat on form .Odds around 5-2 look solid value .

Useful French colt SOSIE has to be considered after finishing placed in ARC the last two years , has shown some decent form in France winning three G1 races , though all his best form has been on soft surface.Unproven on ground this fast , though interesting runner for Andre Fabre .

Of the others Japanese colt URBAN CHIC has shown some fair form , including winning Japanese St Leger last season. Yet to win in three starts this season, though the return to 1M 4F will suit, after finishing close fifth in 1M 2F group one contest last time .

Churchill Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It was run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres). From 2000-2023 it was run at at Lingfield Park in November. However as part of the policy of running down and diminishing the racing programme at Lingfield Park, from 2024 the race moved to Newcastle Racecourse. In 2025 the race has switched again to the Nottinghamshire track at Southwell over longer distance. Given Sir Winston Churchill's links to the area surrounding Lingfield - his residence at Chartwell and his stud at West Park Road Newchapel, on the outskirts of Lingfield village, less than two miles from Lingfield Park - it is a disgrace that this race was now been moved twice in two years . Disappointing turn out for Churchill Stakes with four runners going to post, though not a surprise with Arena Leisure continuing to mess about with these All Weather fixtures, why they have to keep switching these races to different courses is anyones guess. The race should have never been moved from Lingfield Park in my opinion .

The William Haggas 7-Y-0 globetrotter DUBAI HONOUR , looks sure go well taking big drop in class,having finished creditable second on his last two starts in group one company in Germany & France .Had previously won in G1 company in Australia in April. Lightly raced on All Weather, though did win the Magnolia Listed stakes at Kempton back in 2024.Also finished unlucky second in this race last year, when getting badly hampered behind The Foxes.Has to carry 7lb G1 penalty ,though is the class act, being four time group one winner .Odds 9-4 look very fair value in what looks match .

The Aidan O' Brien trained three-year-old filly MINNIE HAUK , has been put in strong favourite at around 11-10, after finishing excellent second in ARC at Longchamp in October, only beaten head, just getting run down in closing stages behind French colt Daryz. Had previously won three G1 races. English, Irish & Yorkshire Oaks, though did have hard race at Longchamp only four weeks ago, according to reports lost the most weight of the O'BRIEN runners travelling over to Del Mar. Not for me at short price.Obvious claims on form, though not for me at 11-10 .

Dual Breeders Cup Turf winner REBELS ROMANCE , should go well for Charlie Appleby & William Buick.Has been in great form this season ,winning five times , including winning G1 Joe Hirsch classic at Aqueduct in September , though probably ran his best race in King George at Ascot in July , finishing third to top class Champion Stakes winner Calandagan. Goes well on these tight turning American tracks, including winning the race last year over C&D. Odds 3-1 or above looks fair value .

Best of the rest, looks to be the improving three-year-old AMILOC , winning 5 out 6 races, including winning G2 Edward V11 stakes at Royal Ascot in June. Will be suited returning to 12 furlongs on fast surface.Up in class though could go well at decent odds . Each-way claims at around 14-1 .

The Night Ot Thunder three-year-old filly LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, looks interesting after finishing creditable second in G3 company at Deauville last time , that was decent effort, finishing under lengh behind decent French filly Cankoura ,who had previously finished third in G1 Prix de Diane.Unraced on soft ground, though has real soft ground pedigree (Night Of Thunder ) ( 2 out 2 ) on soft, the dam (Beautiful Morning ) winning this race back in 2017 on soft ground. Looks open to further improvement and three-year-olds have excellent record in race.Odds 4-1 or bigger look solid each-way value .

Of the others BEAUTIFUL LOVE has to be respected on pick of her form , including finishing distant second in G2 Middleton Stakes at York behind See The Fire in May , had also finished good fourth in last years G1 Breeders Cup Filly's and Mares turf at Del Mar, only beaten lengh , been slightly disappointing this season, though does take drop in class.However all winning form has been on quick ground.

York listed winner CHARLOTTES WEB is very consistent filly, looks sure be in mix ,though won't find it easy under 3lb listed penalty.

The Irish Champion Stakes (Irish: Curadh-Dhuais na hÉireann) is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at Leopardstown over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September.

The event was established in 1976, and it was initially held at Leopardstown as the Joe McGrath Memorial Stakes. It was named in memory of Joe McGrath (1887–1966), the founder of the Irish Hospitals' Sweepstake and a successful racehorse owner.

The race was transferred to Phoenix Park and renamed the Phoenix Champion Stakes in 1984. Its present title was introduced in 1991, when the event returned to Leopardstown after the closure of its former venue.

The Irish Champion Stakes became part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series in 2009. The winner now earns an automatic invitation to compete in the same year's Breeders' Cup Turf.^[1]

Over its 300-year history, Ascot has established itself as a national institution, with Royal Ascot being the centrepiece of the British summer social calendar.^[1]

The racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne. When out riding from Windsor Castle, she came upon an area of open heath that looked, in her words, 'ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch'.^[2] Her plans for a new race meeting were subsequently announced in The London Gazette of 12 July 1711.

That first meeting was held on 11 August 1711, the original date (and a race scheduled for 6 August) having been postponed for reasons unspecified, although it has been speculated that the course was simply not ready.^[4] The Queen and a "brilliant suite"^[4] drove from Windsor Castle to witness it, with the first race being a seven horse £50 plate, won by a horse called Doctor owned by the Duke of St Albans.^[4] The original racecourse was laid out by William Lowen for the first meet.^[2]

Queen Anne's gift to racing, founding the Royal Racecourse, is marked by the tradition of opening Royal Ascot with The Queen Anne Stakes run over the straight mile.

Royal Ascot evolved from the first four-day race meeting held at Ascot in 1768, although the meeting as it is known today only really started to take shape with the introduction of The Gold Cup in 1807.^[17] Until 1939, Royal Ascot was the only race meeting held at the racecourse. The Gold Cup remains the feature race of the third day of Royal Ascot, traditionally the busiest day of the week. During the racecourse's redevelopment in 2005, the Royal Meeting was held at York Racecourse.

Each of the five days of Royal Ascot begins with the Royal Procession at 2pm, when the monarch and other members of the royal family arrive down the straight mile in the royal Landaus, accompanied by the playing of the National Anthem and the raising of the Royal Standard. This tradition was started in 1825 by George IV.

The Derby Stakes, also known as the Derby or the Epsom Derby, is a Group 1 flat horse race in England open to three-year-old colts and fillies. In the 20th century, the race was run mainly on a Wednesday in late May or early June until 1994, after which it was changed to a Saturday in early June.^[8] From 1915 to 1918 (during World War I), it was on a Tuesday, with the race's latest ever date being 31 July 1917.^[9] From 1942 to 1945 (during World War II), 1947 to 1950, and in 1953, the race was run on a Saturday.^[7] From 1969 to 1994, it was on the first Wednesday in June. From 2003 to at least 2022, it has been on the first Saturday in June, apart from a race on 4 July 2020 without spectators, owing to COVID-19.

The Fred Darling Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old fillies. It is run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at Newbury in April.

The event was established in 1949, and it was initially called the Lambourn Stakes.^[1] It was named after Lambourn, a nearby village associated with racehorse training.

For a period the race was contested over 7 furlongs and 60 yards. It continued with its original name until 1954,^[2] and was given its present title in 1955.^[3] It was renamed in memory of Fred Darling, a successful local trainer who died two years earlier.^[4]

The Dubai Duty Free company started to sponsor the Fred Darling Stakes in 1996. From this point the race was also known as the Dubai Duty Free Stakes. It used to be run on a left-handed course, but it was switched to a straight 7 furlongs in 1999.

The race can serve as a trial for various fillies' Classics in Europe. The last participant to win the 1,000 Guineas was Elmalka, the third-placed horse in 2024.

Last years winner DILIGENT HARRY looks sure go well for Clive Cox, has excellent record on All Weather winning (7 out 12 ) Should be spot on for this race, after finishing fourth on his seasonal reappearance at Lingfield earlier this month (looked in need of the race) .Can reverse form with Marshman on 3lb better terms over this shorter trip .William Buick looks significant jockey booking, riding the horse for first time .Odds 11-4 or above look solid value .

Of the others MARSHMAN has been in great form this season ,winning both starts on All Weather , including winning Kachy Listed stakes at Lingfield earlier this month, though all his best form has been over 6 furlongs , has yet to win over 5 furlongs in 4 starts ,also has to carry 3lb listed penalty.

CLARENDON HOUSE has each-way claims, lightly raced on All Weather, winning ( 2 out 3) , including winning over C&D, though was well held third in the race last year behind Diligent Harry. Can't be ruled out on previous form ,place claims .

The Charlie Appleby trained Kingman gelding ARABIAN LIGHT was very strong favourite to win the Lord North Handicap here last month, going off 4-7 fav, though could only manage never nearer 4L third after not getting the best of runs .However looks certain to improve for that first run of the season, had looked progressive sort last season winning two novice stakes in good style .Looks sure go well here off the same mark, though bookmakers are giving nothing away on the Godolphin runner .

At the prices last years winner OUZO looks the each-way value .Hasn't got much to find with Arabian Light on that Lord North handicap form ,finishing never nearer sixth having had troubled passage, just over lengh behind the Appleby horse.Has good record here at Meydan in these big field 8/9F handicaps (61123). Also looks on decent mark ,having won the race last year off 2lb higher mark .Goes particularly well for Saffie Osborne, who is reunited with the horse having missed the ride last time. Odds 7-1 or above look very fair each-way value, especially with bookmakers paying five places .

Of the others the Joseph O'Brien Irish raider GALEN looks the most interesting, finished 2nd to City Of Troy on debut as 2-Y-0, also had some fair form last season, including winning maiden at Curragh by 9L. Finished fair fourth on first start here at Meydan, just head behind Arabian Light in the Lord North handicap, has to concede weight all round in this handicap, though looks open to improvement as lightly raced four-year-old .

VERDICT : (1) ARABIAN LIGHT (2) OUZO (3) GALEN

Arabian Light looks the most likely winner on last seasons progressive UK form, though these big field handicaps are never easy to win here at Meydan, makes no appeal at even money in 16 runner handicap. OUZO has good chance of at least hitting the frame at decent odds. Goes well here at Meydan, looks worth small each-way bet.
