It may be a while before Foothills Elementary School Principal Abe Yospe has any desire to hear the sound of a kazoo again. That’s because to show their sincere appreciation for his daily school announcements, sometimes intentionally annoying everyone with his not so super singing, a group of 5^th grade students and their teacher decided to have some equally annoying fun with their beloved principal.

They came up with a plan to follow Mr. Yospe around the school for nearly a half hour, playing kazoos loud and proud. As you know, the kazoo creates a very distinct buzzy sound and students practiced all day to bring their kazoo playing up to perfection as they followed Mr. Yospe up and down the halls, even into his office. Principal Yospe took it all in stride and the students had a blast with the silly surprise.

We can’t wait to see all the fun students, teachers, staff, and of course, Principal Yospe will have in the upcoming school year.

The Olympic athletes had a blast side-by-side with students in a number of races, a tug-of-war, signing autographs, shaking hands, and offering words of inspiration and encouragement.

The surprise was part of an ongoing effort by Utah 2034 to put athletes face-to-face with communities which will host the world in 2034. It was also an opportunity to promote the International Olympic Committee’s new Let’s Move 2026 campaign, a global push to get young people active.

The afternoon ended with a ‘swag toss’ of Olympic hats, shirts, and pins doled out to very excited students, some who may have hopes and dreams of representing Team USA themselves one day.

The last day of school will likely be one a Copper Hills High School 11^th grade student won’t soon forget. That’s because Dylan Margetts showed up bright and early at KUTV studios in downtown Salt Lake City Thursday morning, as one of 20 statewide finalists in the Ken Garff Keys to Success program. Dylan was then narrowed down to one of four finalists… and then, he won, taking home a brand new 2025 Nissan Versa!

The Ken Garff Keys to Success program, motivates Utah students in grades 7–12 by connecting them to career pathways, scholarships, and prizes. A major highlight is the annual Car Giveaway, where one lucky student takes home a brand-new vehicle.

Congratulations, Dylan. Keep up the great work preparing for your future and upcoming school year as a senior at Copper Hills High School. May all the hard work and new wheels take you far.

After completing a high-stakes AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam, Chinese DLI students at Mountain Creek Middle School wrapped up their 9th grade school year with an engaging and creative performance of Piying Xi (Chinese Shadow Puppetry). Chinese Shadow Puppetry is a millennia-old folk art form where flat, colorful silhouette figures are manipulated behind a backlit, translucent screen blending storytelling, music, and visual art.

As part of their presentation on Chinese myths and legends, students not only introduced the stories and cultural background, but also designed and created their own shadow puppets and brought the legends to life through beautiful figures, images, and storytelling performances. Teacher Michael Lu says experiences like this showcase the power of Dual Language Immersion education and the many ways students can connect with global cultures through language learning.

From classic cars to souped-up lawn mowers  and everything in between, students at Bingham High School popped their hoods and showed off their rides at the 30th Annual Bingham High School Car Show. Dozens of student and staff vehicles were on display, many showcasing their skills in the school’s welding and autobody programs.

The City of West Jordan recently celebrated the grand opening of a brand-new pedestrian bridge located at 7000 South and 1500 West with students from Heartland Elementary cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Following the ribbon-cutting, an eager crowd took part in a ceremonial inaugural walk across the bridge. The group included the entire student body and staff of Heartland Elementary, alongside their supportive families. They were also joined by West Jordan City leaders and members of Jordan School District’s administration and Board of Education.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this project a reality!

Antelope Canyon Elementary School students and families came together to support their community by collecting over ten thousand items during the school’s annual food drive. The student council volunteered every morning for four days, collecting donations under the direction of the PTA and parent volunteer Malori Mower.

The donations will stock Principal’s Pantries throughout the District, providing essential resources for students and families experiencing need. To celebrate the community’s generosity, a local Arctic Circle donated ice cream treats to the winning grade-level classes.

Great work, Antelope Canyon Elementary students, staff, and families. Your generosity and service will help students and families throughout Jordan School District.
