In which Jenn and Lex make up for lost time!

Lex has finished her tubular socks!  Finished the 2nd cuff, ends are sewn in!  Pattern by Samantha Roshak

Lex also finished a simple 2×2 ribbed hat – knit 3 ply sock yarn using Navajo plying technique.  Brilliant!  Used “Easy knit warm ribbed hat” pattern by Leef Bloomenstiel as a rough guideline (mostly for the decrease intervals, decrease math is not my thing)

Jenn – mittens out of Knitpicks Tweed Aran weight in the Plum Wine Colorway. created my own pattern, with texting thumbs. made thumbs to long and so they make me a little crazy. They are very plain but are lovely and warm

Jenn – Starshower cowl by Hilary Smith Callis out of Fino by Manos Del Uruguay, just joined to work in the round. Still plugging away at my Five by Five cowl by Felicia Lo from Sweet Georgia.

When good knitting goes bad

Jenn – working on the Starshower cowl on the flight from Calgary to Vancouver and realized that I went on row to far and now the pattern is backwards. Had to frog it when i finally got to the hotel.

Lex – Using Navajo plying while knitting.  Going to try this on a pair of socks for hubby, should be a quicker knit

Jenn has finished her Starshower by Hillary Smith Callis, the creator of Citron, out of Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in Cayenne.

Jenn has finished a Five by Five cowl by Felicia Lo from Sweet Georgia, Jenn is using 2 strands of Knit Picks Hawthorne in the Rose City colorway and a single strand of mystery lace weight.

Jenn has finished pair of vanilla socks in Online yarn, with afterthought heel, She has also finished 3 dishcloths out of Dishie by Knit Picks using the Grandmother’s Favourite Dish Cloth pattern – in the Ivy colour way. Jenn has also completed her Lettuce Lintilla.

The following two pictures were taken in my front yard yesterday (Sept 8, 2014)  The hedge is easily 8-9 feet tall when not being hampered by the snow.  I am not 8-9 feet tall (more like 5’5″ish)

Lex has finished one of her hubby’s socks!  This is the hybrid Hermione/Mr Pitt’s in a camo colourway.  One more to go!

Jenn is chugging away on some vanilla (aka plain) socks in OnLine sock yarn.  She is on the last ruffle of her Lintilla and is almost done her trailer dish cloth.

Lex is working on her tubular socks, and is ready for first cut (to turn the one tube into two tubes).  Her popsicle blanket is in hibernation.  Itching for a shawl to cast on, but may opt for more practical fingerless mittens.

Lex has some issues when it comes to whether she loves the colours projects are shown in, or the actual projects themselves.

Stuff I am watching on the internet

Jenn has been getting into Downton Abbey.

Lex has been watching The Good Wife.  Lots of strong female characters.  Cosmos is great if you want to feel small and amazing at the same time.  And, of course, the return of Doctor Who!!!!

Repurposed

As Lex was spending a small fortune on textbooks and such, she happened upon a cool pencil case.  Has decided to turn it into a sock carrier for her wheelie bag.

Apparently you might be wondering why the word apparently is showing up so frequently.  Apparently you don’t have to wait to find out.  Watch this video!

Lex has finished Montadale out of Manos del Uruguay Fino in a variegated blue/grey

Jenn has been working on a vanilla sock in ONLine yarn.Made heel a lot deeper than normal, much better fit. Jenn also started working on my Lintila by Martina Behm, after quick review of the pattern was able to pick up and go.

Lex has started a totally tubular sock in Spud and Chloe Fine (yellow) and Turtle feet (purple).  Lex has continued to work on her Popsicle Blanket and hubby socks which are a hybrid creature made up of Hermione’s Everyday socks and Mr Pitts socks.
