My Experience in Kushal Nagar, Coorg

Started our journey from Mysore at 5 pm. It was a bus trip. Along the road, surrounded by greenery on both sides. It's a perfect sun-kissed time with warm, yellow sunlight and a gentle breeze that feels good.

Altogether, it was a beautiful experience on a budget-friendly trip. We reached Kushalnagar, Madikeri, by 8 pm, which is about 3 hours from Mysore.

Kushal Nagar is a major town in the Coorg(Kodagu) district. It is a commercial place, famous for tibetians golden temple, Cauvery Nisargadhama, Dubare elephant camp and the Hirangi Dam. Scroll down to get detailed information on each place.

These are the pics captured in the morning, where we stayed. The day starts with a gloomy atmosphere, and rain drizzles on and off. But after mid-morning, the weather changed to bright sunlight. Anyhow, we enjoyed the climate.

Dubare Elephant Camp:

It is a unique eco-tourism destination, which allows tourists to interact closely with the elephants, feeding and bathing them. Other activities like jeep safari, coracle boat ride and river rafting is also there.

This place is located in Kushalnagar, Siddapur. Timings are alloted in two sessions: 9:00 AM to 11:00 Am and 4:30 PM to 5:30 Pm. Though the camp is open year-round, it is recommended to visit during post-monsoon months from september to march.

Harangi Dam:

Harangi River, a tributary of the Kaveri River in Kushalnagar, Coorg. Hirangi Dam is a popular tourist place, which is known for its serene beauty and bird watching during the monsoon(August-September). It offers picturesque views when the water is full during the monsoon.

This place is surrounded by hills and forests, which present a soothing and calm atmosphere. Chamundeshvari temple is located nearby, and a small garden is there in the dam.

Nisargadhama Eco Park:

A 64-acre island eco-park formed by the kaveri river near kushalnagar in Coorg. This place is about 28 km from Madikeri. It is popular for its hanging rope bridge, bamboo grooves, sandalwood/ teak trees and wildlife.

And other facilities like childrens park and eateries are available to enjoy. At the entrance, so many commercial shops are there for shopping. It opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery):

The Golden Temple is located in Bylakuppe, and the specific location is Arlikumari. It opens daily from 9Am to 6 PM with free entry. The temple features a golden architecture with a four-story tower at the entrance and colourful murals on the walls.

In the main hall, a 40-foot-tall gilded statue of Guru Padma Sambhava, Buddha Sakyamuni, and Amitayus is located, which is a main attraction of the temple. Around 5000 monks and nuns are worshipping in this temple.

Visitors are also welcome to visit the well-maintained garden. Also, you can explore the nearby tibetian market, local cuisine and other small monasteries in the area.

Muthanga forest

The most beautiful journey from Mysore to Wayanad begins here. We travelled from Mysore to Wayanad via Nanjangud, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, Sulthan Bathery, Kalpetta and reached Vyithiri. Starting from Mysore Road via Muthanga forest itself is a visual treat. When you reach Muthanga forest, you can see a diverse wildlife of elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, and birds.

We stayed at Vythiri Stream View Resort, nestled in a hillock with a view of the stream and a massive green tea garden.

Even though it's summertime, I was amazed at the lush greenery of Wayanad's stunning peaks and cloud-kissed mountains. In winter, this place offers a more pleasant, misty and chill climate for sure. Just imagine a cozy morning with a cup of hot tea or coffee, and enjoy the view for so long with our family. It's really a blissful day starting with an early sunrise, sounds of birds and a misty atmosphere.

Walking through this tea garden takes us to an attractive stream at the end of the tea garden. A small place is there for kids and grown-ups to play in the swing, spend time and enjoy the view of the stream.

And near the rooms, there is a chill-out place with a small, beautiful garden and an outdoor swing. You can sit and relax there with your loved ones.

Places to Visit in Wayanad

Pookode Lake:

In Pookode Lake, the natural fresh water with unique blue water lilies surrounded by evergreen forests will attract the tourists. This lake resembles the shape of an Indian map, and you can see a special variety of pethia pookodensis fish here.

Good place to do activities like pedal boating, row boating and walking around the lake. A small kids' park, a shopping space and eateries are there to enjoy as well.

Wayanad Exotic Birds Park - Jungle Book:

It is situated just opposite the Pookode Lake. They will provide you with fish food and bird food to feed them. They are allowing us to touch the birds. It's a good feeling that, when you feed the birds, they are sitting in our hands and eating the food grains.

Honey Museum:

The honey museum in Wayanad provides a great learning experience about honey bees, honey production and the importance of beekeeping. They will give you varieties of honey for tasting, which include wild honey, lychee flower honey, tulsi honey, sidr flower honey and stingless bee honey.

If you want to purchase, you can choose any of these. In addition, there are so many other products kept for selling like medicinal bee products, chocolates, spices and cosmetic products.

Tea Museum:

This tea museum offers visitors to taste different kinds of local tea flavours and allows them to experience them. They show many flavours, like Ginger tea, cardamom tea, chocolate tea, green tea and more. They are selling the tea packets along with so many flavours of essential oils. And they kept photos explaining the cultivation, history of tea, and so many old machines.

Banasura Sagar Dam:

It is 25 km away from Vyithiri, constructed with massive stacks of rocks and stones. Boating and trekking are the popular activities at this dam. More than the dam view, I just loved the nature park with so many swings. Kids' boating facilities are also there, which is near the nature park.

It was a beautiful experience spending precious time with my family. And these are a few top-notch experiences that I recollect in Wayanad.

Habits to Follow to Become a Highly Productive Homemaker

"Being productive doesn't mean that you do all the things". It means you've carefully chosen what is important and keep your focus there".

We have many distractions at home that will keep us away from the day's responsibilities. Believe it or not, we have an enormous time at home to spend productively. But intentionally, we are spending most of our time on overthinking, gossip, social media, television and other sources of entertainment.

At home, there is no compulsion to be productive apart from your household work. And there are no constraints to submit your work to anyone like an office goer. If you are happily enjoying your homemaking lifestyle, go ahead without pausing. But if you are worrying about your future and just wasting your time, think about the productive work you are doing daily.

Homemaker/ Stay at home mom is not a despicable lifestyle like most of you think. But, when you persist only on homemaking chores like cooking, cleaning, taking care of kids etc, sometimes you feel frustrated that you are not productive.

I try to find my own productive time for blogging, doing crafts, online courses to upgrade my career and skills. I will try to give some time for all these things in my leisure time, which feels a more productive and happy day. However, I have those days when I don't get enough time for myself and I don't know how to manage it. Now, I have overcome that by trying some magical rules listed below.

1. Have a Daily to-do-list

You might already know this, but a little difference I'm following is to note down a time schedule for every listed work. Then I try to do it on time and put a tick mark for finished work. Once you put a tick mark you will be more excited and try to do the remaining work. Yes, of course, I couldn't complete every work daily but it's okay. "We can learn to grow through our imperfection".

2. Say Bye to Social Media

By all means, we couldn't say bye to social media but we can restrict ourselves from that by giving lesser time. Social media is the biggest distraction that will make you unproductive. It makes you a too lazy person and mentally you will get tired when you spend so much time on social media. And you don't know how much time you are spending.

3. Do Important Tasks First

Pick out the important tasks and prioritize them to do first. If so, you will get relaxed and move on to the remaining tasks.

4. Be Intentional with your Time

Being intentional with time is a bit difficult to practice and implement in your life. Once you practice, you will get wiser decisions and get done with your priorities on the checklist. Surprisingly you will get a lot of time for your own, family and kids, work etc.

5. Get the Basics Done Everyday

Basics in essence cleaning, vessel washing, laundry etc. If you haven't finished it daily it will pile up and become a huge burden for the next days. So as much as possible do it every day.

6. Fix Some Works Once in Week or Month

It is mandatory to do house cleaning daily, but leave the mopping and organizing work once in a week or month.

7. Stop Wasting Energy in Repetitive Works

Parenting is so messy and we could not be organized all the time and follow our daily plans. For example, there is no use in spending time for organizing your baby's toys. Once you are done, they will clutter everything. This will going to happen for a whole day. So I don't think it is possible to do it all day. Rather leave it and concentrate on other work. Maybe organizing toys is not much more important than other household work.

8. Never be Ashamed of What you Do

People follow you until your success. Once you succeed they will leave you and search for others to blame. So do what you love and what makes you happy.

9. Get Up Early

Once you stick to an early morning routine, life will get very easy and you get much more time for yourself personally. Most of my preferred work will be done in the mornings without any disturbance.

10. Do Exercise, Get Dressed & Attitude

Is it related to productivity? Yes certainly, every activity you love to do every day will make your day more productive. Starting with a morning walk will make your full day energetic and if possible do simple exercises. Then dressed up, it doesn't mean you should create a gaudy look. Wear a comfortable dress, tie your hair, wash your face, and do simple skincare. It looks better than your usual drowsy look.

11. Set a Space for Productivity

You should have at least a small space like a room corner for your productivity and set that space to your wish. When you sit there you should feel good and it encourages more to step in for the next level.

12. Set Goals

Your goal will be your motivation. No one will come and motivate you daily. If you have a certain goal, that will push you to do next and next to achieve the goal.

13. Set Alarms

You may have important tasks to complete on that but you forget. So set alarms if necessary.

14. Take a Break

When you run for a full day you will get exhausted and irritated. When you complete every planned work take a small gap for a break and look at nature for some time, chat with your family & friends, take a coffee break, play with your kid, do a small dance, go for a walk etc.

15. Say No

Keep limitations for every work at home, if you can't do more than that say 'No' immediately. And you might have a disturbing friend or close relatives around to chat for a long time. But it will be a total waste of time if you are a mom. Keep some limited time for them and say 'No' to the extended discussions. Because you are at home, so they might think you will be always available.

16. Communication

Finish all your obligations and communicate with your partner or anybody in your home to take care of the baby. They don't know what you are going through. So seek help and carry on your career work or anything that you want to do.

17. Write Things Down

Make a note of what are your upcoming plans and what is required to prepare for them.

18. Enjoy Every Minute

And finally, enjoy every minute of life whether you are a homemaker or a working woman. We are running hard to raise our kids, enhance our financial status, building our careers to the next level. Whatever the reasons may be, at the end of the day you should be happy about what you are doing.

What Did I Learn in My Teenage Period?

Hello everyone, today I’m going to discuss about the life lessons that I learned from my teenage. I’m a kind of yes-person at that time. But now, that version of me was changed, and I am trying to take all the decisions on my own. If you are a person like me, then this article will be really helpful to you.

My teenage period was the replica of my parents and I totally depend on them. I will say ‘Yes’ to everyone and I don’t know how to say ‘No’. This makes me put into big trouble most of the time. The lessons I have learned from the troubles make me strong even better and gradually I started saying ‘No’ to the things that hurt me or I don't like.

It really works in my life to push myself in the process of becoming an independent woman. It takes me more time for the transformation. So, I just want to share my experience and what are the life lessons that I learned in my teenage.

1. Express your thoughts without any hesitation:

In our teenage, we become very shy to express our thoughts. It is a major problem, which will be going to affect your future. Don't suppress your thoughts too much. Try to express your thoughts as much as possible. It will build your confidence in future to speak out for major issues.

For example, your teacher asks a question in the classroom and you have an answer in your mind. But you hesitate to speak it boldly in doubt. Finally, someone else in your class got an appreciation for the same answer. I hope you had this experience before. So, whether it will be right or wrong, speak it out.

2. Money matters a lot:

How many of you accept the fact money is very important in your life? In my teenage period, I thought that money is not so important to lead a happy life. So, until my marriage, I was not a money-minded person and I’m not interested in making money too.

Later, I could understand the fact that money matters a lot in our life. I know you have a question now, can we face all our problems with money? Not at all, 50% of our problems will be met by money and in return you will get some mental peace. It will help us to lead our life confidently and how to manage it without fear.

3. Don’t Stress too much on your studies:

Everyone has their own capacity to memorize quickly in their studies. I’m like an average person in all things not only in study. But I push myself to get more marks and become disappointed often.

I don’t know about the teacher's behaviour nowadays. In my time, average and below-average students are not appreciated for their studies and extra talents. Apart from studies, I’m interested in extracurricular activities like sports & arts. But it was not entertained during my school time.

4. Find Happiness in Yourself:

Don’t depend too much on your friends or family. It will hurt you in many ways. For example, if your best friend is absent for a day, you cannot handle the day joyfully. You will feel alone and insecure. It is because you are depending too much on your friend. In that instance, keep one thing in mind no one will come along with our life journey permanently.

The people we are visiting each time will be temporary people either in the form of best friends or siblings or anyone close to your heart. So keep everyone in a certain circle and enjoy your own company every time.

5. Find your Own Value:

Do you think you are the very precious soul in this world? If you don’t feel like a gem of a person, please start doing that from now on. Self-love is important in your life to find your own value. Don’t wait for someone else to find you as a worthy person. And don’t chase behind people to prove yourself, chase yourself personally to find goodness in you.

6. Don’t be a People Pleaser:

For a very long time, I was a people pleaser and try to get good opinions from all people. If anyone says that you are a bad girl/ boy, you will feel so guilty about yourself. So don’t do that. If you think that you are going on the right path or expressing the right opinion, do it confidently.

If the people around you start opposing, try to make them understand very politely and confidently but do not step back. Be strong in your opinions and move bravely. There is no need to change your opinion for the sake of other people.

7. Set a Thin Boundary:

You should always remind a proverb that, “Too much of anything is good for nothing”. This is what I point out as a thin boundary. In any complicated friendships or relationships or affairs, you should have a thin boundary or limit.

It will help you from heart breaks. Also, there are no compulsions in friendships or relationships to be good at all times. When you start a friendship or relationship, you might trust them blindly but it may go wrong sometimes.

So whatever, you should set a thin line to protect yourself from toxic friendships or relationships. Your mental health is more important than welcoming fake people into your life.

8. Don’t Expect Too Much:

You might know expectation kills always. For instance, you buy chocolate for your friend and expect for a long time that it will get in return. But your friend may forget or for reasons you may not get it again. It will hurt you and you keep it in your mind. It will break the cute bond between you both. So if you are planning to gift someone please don’t expect it in return.

9. Don’t Compare:

If you are admiring a good thing in your friend or any third person or colleague, don’t compare that quality with you. If you do so, you will get the mentality of underestimating yourself and hurting yourself. Instead, work on that continuously and incorporate that quality in you. If not, think that you will be good at something else that your friend could not do it.

Hope you will enjoy this blog, Let's start. Kanyakumari is a seashore area, so it is obviously familiar with seafood. I have tasted seafood like the variety of fish, mussels, crab, prawns etc. Some people from other regions ask me curiously how can you have Non-veg food daily. Isn't it boring enough to have it daily?

Actually, anything from our childhood will never get boring at all, because it's our lifestyle. And we don't take seafood in large quantities daily. One or two pieces are more than enough to quench our thirst. However, we get bored sometimes and shift to veg foods.

Here I will share my mom's traditional fish gravy recipe, which I'm addicted to forever. One thing, I have been always impressed by seeing my mom's habit is she tries to satisfy everyone's taste buds at home. Along with fish gravy, she includes some veg dishes too. The fish gravy she cooks is very simple that every beginner can easily make. Let's move on to the Nagercoil Style Tuna Fish Gravy Recipe.

Ingredients for Nanjil Fish Gravy:

small onion - 5 to 10
Garlic - 5 to 10
Green Chilies - 3
Tomato - 2
Tamarind - Lemon sized
Salt - as per taste

Masalas to Grind:

Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander Powder - 3 spoon
Chilly Powder - 3 spoon
Pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Roasted fenugreek & Ajwain - 1 teaspoon
Grated Coconut - 1/2
Garlic & Onion

Nagercoil Fish Curry Preparation Method

Step 1: Cut all the above-mentioned ingredients.

Step 2: Grind all the masalas & coconut together to get a smooth paste.

Step 3: Take a pot and mix all the ingredients like masala paste, tamarind paste, green chillies & tomatoes. Add some water and start to boil.

Step 4: Put all the cleaned fish pieces when the gravy starts boiling. I have taken Tuna Fish (Surai Meen)

Step 5: Add salt and keep the fish gravy on a high flame. Adjust the consistency of water in the gravy and keep boiling.

Step 6: After high boiling, keep the flame to low and taste it. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes and go for seasoning (If required) with little coconut oil, curry leaves and mustard seeds.

Many women rely on their husbands or father to take care of their fundamental necessities. Not just housewives, but also working women lack financial independence because they hand over their salaries to their husbands or father as their gatekeepers.

Three Thousand stitches are a collection of memories from her childhood to the recent days of Sudha Murthy, who is the Chairperson of Infosys foundation. The brave and clever lady who admires me a lot nowadays. The quality of the book is awesome, and it motivates you all the way with a sense of responsibility. It not only entertains the readers but also educates them on how to cope with the world whatever the situation may be.

Also, it seems the language she used in this book is very simple and it can be understandable by all the common people. If you are trying to expand your vocabulary in English, definitely you must give it a try once to read the book Three Thousand Stitches. Moreover, the flow of every story is too fast, that we can’t stop reading anywhere. I will recommend this book to budding students who are facing issues to kickstart your career or studies. 1. Three Thousand Stitches

This story is about the first project of the Infosys foundation. It explains how the Devadasi tradition fall into wrong hands and they are treated as sex workers. Sudha directly went to the field and talk to the women about the seriousness of AIDS. But it was a damn failure and got attacked by chapels followed by tomatoes the next time.

Father advised her “If you want to change any people, first you have to change your attitude” and I liked her father’s sense of humour “Actually you got a promotion to chapels to tomatoes. If you go there for the third time you will get something better”.

She changed her attitude, wear a saree and tied her hair with a neat traditional look and went back with her father introducing her as a professor. This time they hear her words and her first project started. With the help of Abhay Kumar, the project was successfully moved.

She changed many Devadasis’ lives and their children’s studies. With the help of Sudha Murthy, they started their own work on rearing goats, buffaloes, cows etc. Followed by many threats and acid attacks it continued. After many years, they again approach Sudha to open a bank. Finally, the bank was opened, and it run successfully. Over 3000 women were out of the Devadasi system and their children were educated with the help of Sudha.

In the third year of their success, they invited Sudha as a Chief guest and presented her with an embroidered bedsheet stitched by themselves. It has three thousand stitches in each one. She felt proud at that moment and remembered her father’s words “I will feel proud knowing that I gave birth to a daughter who helped 10 helpless women make the most difficult transition being Sex workers to Independent women”.

2. How to Beat the Boys

This story is about how she joined Engineering college and how she managed as an only Girl. From a middle-class and orthodox family, she joined Engineering, instead of more struggles. Even the college principal tried to convince her father not to join that, College. Because there is no facility for girls such as toilets, relaxing room etc. Anyhow, she got inspiration from Tsang’s book “Si-Yu-Ki”. Everyone discouraged Tsang’s travel. But he travelled for 17 years and become famous.

According to the instruction of the principal, she wear a saree and started her journey. When she entered the classroom, the boys started shouting and spitting blue ink on her seat. Regularly, she got bad comments, paper flights, murmurs, tucking flowers in her hair etc. She behaved normally for all those things. There was a student-friendly activity known as “fishpond”. Every year most of the writes in that fishpond are about Sudha Murthy. Finally, most of the boys become her friend and ask for assignments. She left college with good marks and started her career in the corporate world.

3. Food for Thought

This story explains the indigenous vegetables and their origins. It was a fine day in her life spending time with her dearest friend and her family. She went to her friend’s home on the day of her grandmother’s death anniversary. So, they prepared lunch with the indigenous vegetables with a bland taste. The dishes are without green chillies (Instead they used black pepper), tomatoes etc. She started the conversation with a little joke which make it interesting to read further

“Is the lunch specially arranged so that I don’t come again”. Everyone laughed at her and started discussing the indigenous vegetables and what is the reason behind they don’t cook them on their death anniversary.

4. Three Handfuls of Water

It was a small memory of Sudha Kashi Samaradhane with her grandparents in the village. Going to Kashi is the toughest journey those days and we heard that many people did not come back. This small story explains the horrible reason behind the Kashi journey. And if someone comeback they were treated specially, and Kashi Samaradhane is celebrated for them.

On that special occasion, her grandmother wore a Banarasi saree and says it is very special and costly, which is from Kashi. Sudha had a desire to buy that saree. But later, when she started to follow a simple life, she hates that. She reminds her grandfather’s words “If you decide to fulfil your vow with your heart and soul, then the desire for the object goes away with time and that way of life simply becomes a habit”.

5. Cattle Class

Wearing typical Indian apparel in the international airport, Sudha Murthy was criticized by two well-dressed women. She was travelling in the business class travellers’ queue and was advised by the women to go to the economy class queue. She didn’t so they use the word ‘Cattle Class’.

Coming back to her office and had a meeting. Surprisingly, Sudha saw two women sitting in that meeting dressed in a simple way. The meeting was about to discuss about the coffee estate workers’ children and the education of those two women. Sudha Said, “The estate workers help your business prosper and in return, you can afford to help them”. In fact, it is your duty too. Helping them also helps you in the long run.

Continuing that, she starts to narrate a story about Bernardshaw in a British club. He was invited to give a speech in a suit and tie. So, he was not allowed inside for not appearing in that dress code. Then he wear that dress and was allowed inside.

Its time for his speech but he refused to talk. They asked for a reason, and he replied, “My mind is in no way affected by the clothes, I wear”. “Clothes are more important than my brain”. So let the clothes and tie take my place instead and walked out. The people in the meeting never understood why she is narrating the story. She said, “Only the cattle class folks will understand what is happening, you don’t worry about that”.

6. A Life Unwritten

It was a story of her father in 1943 when he was practising as a doctor in a small village. At that time, no one will come to the hospital since they prefer local medicines. One day 4 men knocked on the door and forcibly demanded to go with them in a bullock cart.

The patient was a 16-year-old girl in labour. He hasn’t been trained for delivering a baby, but he was forced to do that. From her story, it seems she got conceived by her classmate and he ran away. She delivered a girl baby and got feared by her cruel family, that they will kill or torcher the child.

Sudha’s father got 100.Rs as a fee and he gave it to the girl. And he directed her to go to Pune in order to continue her studies and raise her child with all details. That’s how the story is starting, and it is ended up after long years when Sudha’s father meets a woman doctor. She was the daughter of the first patient of Sudha’s Father long years back.

7. No Place Like Home

This story is all about rescuing a few women from India, who are got trapped in a Middle Eastern country. These women worked in that country as a housemaid and teachers. All of them got tortured, physically abused, and sexually treated and few got rapped. This section is an elaborate story of these women.

They escaped and stayed in a small home, waiting for their return to India but with no money and passport. At the same time, Sudha Murthy saved some money to Build a new Infosys Foundation. But she thought it is much more important to send them to India and spend that money on them.

8. A Powerful Ambassador

It is not a particular incident or story that happened in her life. She was very disappointed and concentrated in her studies. 2. Shampooing before One or Two Days:

Before hair colouring, leave your hair free for 24 to 48 hours, to let the natural oils secreted on your scalp. It protects your hair strands and keeps them healthy for the post-colouring process. If not, the healthy oils will be drained out from your scalp and make your hair dry.

3.Choose Right Colour:

Choosing exact colours does not depend only on the hair type, it also depends on the skin tone too. The hair colour should fuse together with your skin tone, which is necessary to avoid an odd look. Simply, if you love to wear gold ornaments, then go for chocolate brown and platinum. Or else, if you are looking stunning with silver ornaments, then try dark golden brown, warm red or blonde. 7. Low Maintenance Hair Colouring:

Pick a neutral shade, which gives a specific shine and richness to the hair. There is no huge difference in the hair as well as there is low maintenance. You might also go for ginger shade if you want to deal with low maintenance. Or go ombre, so you only have to worry about it once or twice a year. 12. Avoid Chlorine on Colour-treated Hair:

Avoid shower caps when you are in the swimming pool. When you bathe in the swimming pool in open hair, the chlorine present in the water damages the hair. It is better to avoid such a mess. The copper metal mixed in the chlorine water oxidizes your hair colour and turns to a greenish tint, which is unattractive. The possibility of this problem happens more in dry hair, which is more absorbent. Before bathing, use a leave-in-conditioner or coconut oil, which acts as a resistance.

13. Use Old Clothes:

The process of dying the hair will be too messy and it will stain your clothes. Dress accordingly and keep a towel.

14. DIY Hair Colouring:

Buy a home kit with less harmful chemicals like ammonia, peroxide, and alcohol. Then, test the colour first and do the swatch test to avoid an allergic reaction.
