Moved to Twitter

Well everyone, I've been contemplating it for a long time, and finally decided to replace this community with a Twitter feed. While the LJ community is nice to have, very few status updates require more information than a Twitter post can convey, and since I now have multi-account Twitter clients on practically every electronic device I own, a Twitter feed is a LOT easier to update than an LJ community.

This will still be used if I have a particularly verbose message to post, or if I need a non-Lupinia website to link to for a status post (ie, during forum maintenance for web forums). But, it will be updated even less than it is now. The new Twitter feed will hopefully be updated more regularly (I plan on doing so, anyway).

To receive Lupinia status updates:

Follow Lupinia_Status

There's also an RSS feed there if Twitter isn't your thing. And, while I haven't touched the Feedburner control panel in ages, I'll see if I can set it up with email announcements.

Thanks for watching!

At 20:30 this evening (GMT -4), the Feralys RP forums will be going down for an upgrade to SMF 2.0. This upgrade should take no more than 30-45 minutes at most.

EDIT: There were some complications involved in the upgrade. I'll keep this updated, but for now, I can't give an ETA for the forums to come back up.

[EDIT: Maintenance over.]

In an effort to improve efficiency server-wide, I'm re-doing the way our "Static Content" host is set up. Instead of being FT-specific, it will now house data for all sites hosted by Lupinia.
Domain Transfers and Moving DNS

In an effort to reduce the amount of money we're spending on domains every year, we're in the process of migrating our domains to a new bulk registrar. Since our little DNS server gets rather hammered, and our new registrar has much better DNS support than others we've used, we'll be moving most of our DNS services there as well.

What does this mean for most of you? Probably nothing, especially since the DNS moves will be conducted late at night. However, there's a chance you may see a bit of a hiccup, since there's a lot of DNS changes that'll be coming through the worldwide network. So, just a heads-up, sites may be temporarily unreachable; if this occurs, it's only a temporary glitch.

As it stands, all Lupinia-owned domains will be moved to the new registrar/DNS provider in the next week or two, with the exception of domains with .eu, .uk, and .mobi TLDs. The former two can't be transferred to the new registrar without letting them drop (a risky proposition), and any .mobi addresses will stay where they are until their renewal dates, since .mobi domains are ridiculously expensive to transfer for some reason. Thankfully, there aren't many that fit those categories.

This also applies to anyone with a domain that was purchased by Lupinia on your behalf, but anyone who fits into that category has been contacted privately by now.

Due to a spammer using fake, randomly-generated lupinia.us email addresses, I've deactivated the lupinia.us catch-all account. I will re-activate it once this dies down, it shouldn't be more than a week or so.

Please note that during this time, if someone sends a message to an invalid lupinia.us email address, it will not reach a live person, and the sender will receive a deactivated account error.

==================================

All other systems are functioning normally, as well as the other lupinia.* catch-all accounts.

Yahoo currently has us in a de-prioritization queue of some sort, where all messages sent from our server to theirs are throttled, and they tend to build up on our end. I'm working with Yahoo to resolve this, but until it's taken care of, expect delays when sending email to Yahoo recipients.

===============================

All other systems are functioning normally.
