The monitor might be the most important part of your Mac’s setup–after all, you can’t use any desktop computer without one and even the 16-inch MacBook screen can be extended to an external display twice that size. Because you’ll spend a lot of time looking at it, you’ll want to invest wisely. Not only will you want a monitor that provides a pleasing experience, but the quality of the images on the screen can also affect your work.

However, picking a new monitor can be daunting. Not only are there many manufacturers to choose from, but there are also lots of sizes, resolutions, and features to consider–and when we say lots, we mean lots. We’re here to help guide you while you shop, and we have some tips on what to look for in a monitor.

Apple sells displays for its Macs, and you could go with its offerings, but its displays are a quite bit more expensive than what third parties have. Buying from a different company may mean you may not get a feature that Apple offers, but it may also be a feature that you don’t need, depending on how you use the monitor. Note there are compatibility issues for plain M1 and M2 Macs, which, unlike M1/M2 Pro/Max/Ultra MacBooks, can’t connect to more than one external display. Fortunately, we can show you how to connect multiple monitors to M1 and M2 Macs.

There are plenty of companies that have great monitors that you can use with your Mac, without having to take out a second mortgage. Best Mac monitors: Recommendations

How to choose a Mac monitor

Display technology is a bit of a movable feast, with a lot of confusing jargon and technical features to wade through, as well as a variety of different interfaces and cables that are used by Apple itself and the various monitor manufacturers. So it’s worth taking a closer look at some of the factors that you need to think about when buying a monitor for your Mac.

Screen size

Size isn’t everything, as the saying goes, but it’s a good place to start. Your decision will be influenced by how much desk space you have, and how comfortable you are while using the display. Some people think that a big screen is best, but then when they start to use it daily, they find that it’s too big. And the same goes for customers who think a small screen is best.

If you’re looking for a size to start with for your own personal research, we recommend 24 inches—just like with Apple’s iMac. That seems like a good size for most people, and it’s easy to go up or down from that point. Most people tend to go between 24 and 27 inches for home use.

For professionals—graphics, video, audio, even spreadsheets—a large screen will help you be more productive. Think 27 inches and higher. You’ll be able to fit more elements on the screen and not waste your time scrolling.

If on-screen real estate is valuable to you, consider a multi-display setup. A smaller screen can be used for things like chat, email, web, and more, while the bigger screen is your main workspace. Or get screens of the same size and maximize the space.

Screen resolution

Screen resolution can go hand-in-hand with screen size. Screen resolution refers to the number of pixels used to create what you see on the screen. The higher the resolution, the more detail you can see. Larger displays tend to have more resolution options, as well as the ability to support higher resolutions.

Often, when you find two displays that are the same size but have a wide price difference, it’s mostly because of the screen resolution. Monitors with high resolutions are more expensive. For example, Apple’s $1,599 Studio Display is 27 inches, and it has a high screen resolution of 5120×2880 (5K resolution). On the other hand, LG sells the 27-inch 27UK650-W, but it’s a 3840×2160 (4K) resolution display for content creators, and it’s $350–lower resolution, but $1,249 cheaper. (There actually aren’t other 27-inch 5K monitors available, except for the $1,449 LG UltraFine 27MD5KL-B.)

So what screen resolution should you get? Here are some suggestions; these are guidelines that you can adjust based on your preferences.

• For general purpose use, such as web browsing, email, media viewing, small photo and video projects and viewing: 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 (HD)
• For more-involved content creation, productivity, and media viewing: 3840×2160 (4K)
• For pro-level content creation, productivity, and media viewing: 4K or higher

Connecting to a Mac

How a monitor connects to a Mac can be confusing. The traditional HDMI and DisplayPort connectors used by many monitors are being replaced–or complemented–by USB-C and Thunderbolt ports. And though USB-C and Thunderbolt cables may look the same, there are actually some important technical differences between them, so it’s important to check which ports your new monitor uses and make sure you buy the correct cables and adapters.

Most recent Mac models have Thunderbolt ports, so if you buy a monitor that has HDMI or DisplayPort interfaces only, then you’ll need an adapter to connect to the Mac. This can get a bit confusing, but Apple does provide a list of the ports included on most recent Mac models so that you can figure out what you need.

Apple also provides a guide to HDMI and DisplayPort technology, which covers Mac models going right back to 2008, so that should provide all the info you need for all the Macs you use at home or at work. Less expensive monitors still tend to use HDMI and DisplayPort, and while it’s not too costly to buy adapters that will allow you to connect your Mac, we reckon it’s worth future-proofing your new monitor by getting one that includes at least one USB-C or Thunderbolt port.

If a display uses Thunderbolt to connect to the Mac, it may have additional USB-C or Thunderbolt ports so the display can act as a hub. In this case, If you have a device you want to connect to your Mac, you can connect it to one of the ports on the monitor, which is already connected to the Mac and probably in an easier location for access.

Look for a USB-C or Thunderbolt connection with power delivery (PD) that can charge your MacBook. A 65W PD will be enough for a MacBook Air or 14-inch MacBook Pro, but you’ll need at least 90W for a 15-inch or 16-inch Pro.

Ergonomics

If you’re going to spend a lot of time sitting at a desk looking at your lovely new display then you need to keep ergonomics in mind. The ability to tilt the angle of the monitor back and forth, swivel it around for easy viewing, and adjust the height of the monitor in order to avoid an aching back or neck.

Some monitors can pivot or rotate in either landscape or portrait mode.

As a rough guide, there is a point at about 2 to 3 inches from the top of the screen that should be at eye level. Obviously, eye level varies from one person to another, so it’s important that you can adjust the screen for your own personal comfort. You may also prefer a monitor that doesn’t suffer from glare, or you will be forever repositioning the monitor (or your head) to compensate for that.

Other considerations

There are other considerations you’ll want to make when shopping for a monitor. A lot of these come down to personal preference or what you need for the work you do. They include:

• Color space (gamut): The number of colors a monitor can show. Professionals need specific color spaces.
• Refresh rate: The frequency when a screen is refreshed. Higher rates produce smoother animations.
• Webcam: Some displays have a built-in camera you can use for FaceTime and other video conferencing apps, or to record yourself.
• Speakers: If you plan on frequently viewing or listening to media, a good set of speakers makes for a better experience.

Apple Magic TrackPad (2021) deals

In August 2021, Apple launched a new Magic TrackPad (which now has a white touch-sensitive surface rather than aluminum). Apple now includes a USB-C to Lightning cable with both products (previously it was a USB-A plug).

If you’re in the market for a new Apple Watch, the high-end sensors and features in the Series 9 or Ultra are certainly tempting. But for most people, the Apple Watch SE is perfect, especially when it’s on sale for the lowest price we’ve ever seen: Amazon is selling the 40mm Apple Watch SE for $179 and the 44mm Apple Watch SE for $209, savings of $70 each and the best price we’ve ever seen aside. Walmart also has the same deal on the 40mm and 44mm models.

The Apple Watch SE has the same design as the Series 6 from 2020 but is missing a few features, namely an always-on display, blood-oxygen sensor, and ECG sensor. It also has an older S8 chip but everything else that makes the Apple Watch great is included: an optical heart rate sensor, irregular heart rhythm notifications, fall and crash detection, noise monitoring, always-on altimeter, sleep monitoring, 18-hour battery life, and 50M water resistance.

And since Apple won’t be updating the SE until at least next September, go grab one now before the price goes back up.

The biggest difference by far is at the bottom of the line-up where the company has retired the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 in favor of a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3. Not only does the new MacBook Pro have a new, faster chip, it also benefits from the 14-inch design with its superior screen and other improvements. MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Price

With the introduction of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Apple has discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro M2. The bad news is that this means that price of the cheapest MacBook Pro is now a lot higher. The 13-inch MacBook Pro started at $1,299/£1,299 while the new 14-inch equivalent starts at $1,599/£1,699, which is quite a price hike.

You could save some money while the older model is still available from retailers who are selling off their old stock, or perhaps you can buy a refurbished model.

14-inch MacBook Pro, M3, from $1,599/£1,699

The 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 is available from Apple and other suppliers, with the following variants:

You can also add more RAM and storage, with both topping out at 24GB and 2TB.

13-inch MacBook Pro, M2, was from $1,299/£1,299

At launch the 13-inch model started at $1,299/£1,299 for the 8GB/256GB configuration, moving up to $1,499/£1,499 for 512GB and $1,899/£1,899 if you wanted 1TB of storage and to double the RAM to 16GB. While resellers clear out excess stock you may see some good deals.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Performance

When Apple last updated the 13-inch MacBook Pro in June 2022 it was only available with the M2 chip. Previously the 14-inch MacBook Pro could only be configured with the M2 Pro or M2 Max chip, but now it can be configured with the M3, M3 Pro or M3 Max.

The new M3 series of chips are the first to be built on a new 3-nanometer process. This should result in performance gains beyond the usual generational bump because it allows the engineers to pack the transistors in tighter, closing the distance that data has to travel and also aiding energy efficiency.

Apple claims that the M3 chip has a CPU that’s 20% faster than that of the M2, plus it has quite an advantage over the M1 chips that powered the earlier MacBook Pros too. Rendering speeds are up to 2.5x faster in the M3, while the CPU cores can work at up to 50% the rate of the original M-series processors. So, if you’re thinking of moving up from an M1-powered device or the even older Intel machines, then the M3 will feel lightning fast in comparison. The M2s are no slouch though and any upgrade will deliver quicker all-round performance, but the M3s are the fastest.

As you can see from our benchmarks below, the M3 actually outperforms the 8-core M1 Pro. Obviously, if you want the fastest option the M3 isn’t it, but it is a lot faster than the M2 and M1, both of which sped ahead of the Intel options that used to power the Mac.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Display and screen size

As the name suggests, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 has grown a little. For many years, the 13.3-inch Retina display has been a fixture of the MacBook Pro line-up, but Apple has finally put those dimensions to bed with its latest update. It was time to do so: even the 13.6-inch screen on the MacBook Air was bigger and better, meaning that the 13.3-inch screen on the MacBook Pro looked dated by comparison.

The 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display in the MacBook Pro isn’t just larger than its 13.3-inch predecessor, it’s also brighter (up to 1,600 nits compared to 500 nits) and offers double the refresh rate of the older version thanks to its 120Hz ProMotion technology (a feature that the MacBook Air lacks).

This is all provided by the new mini-LED panel, which can reach brightness levels over three times higher than that of the 13-inch model. If you’ve ever tried working on a document or editing a video in bright surroundings, you’ll know how important this improvement could be to your poor eyes.

The bezels on the 13-inch MacBook Pro weren’t exactly huge, but they’ve been made thinner on the new model, with one exception. Along the top, you’ll see that the notch has come to the MacBook Pro. Here the notch houses nothing but the FaceTime camera, there’s no Face ID on any Macs, yet), this only cuts into the menu bar at the top of the screen so it shouldn’t detract too much from the screen space available. If the presence of the notch bothers you then the older model is the only MacBook not to have a notch as a feature so you might want to invest in one while they are still available.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Audio

Audio has also been upgraded with the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, as Apple moves from the stereo speakers in the 13-inch model to a new six-speaker high-fidelity system with force-canceling woofers. Both machines support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, but this will sound better on the 14-inch MacBook Pro thanks to those specialized speakers.

There’s the same triple mic array on both devices, so you’ll sound good on conference calls, and should you prefer a bit of privacy you can plug some headphones into the 3.5mm on either device. One additional option on the 14-inch MacBook Pro is that its HDMI port supports audio output.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Webcam

One of the biggest disadvantages of the old 13-inch MacBook Pro was its decrepit 720p FaceTime camera. Luckily the 14-inch MacBook Pro features a much better 1080p camera for those FaceTime, Zoom and Teams calls. Macs still lack Apple’s Centre Stage feature available on iPads that keeps you in the frame if you move about.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Connectivity

The selection of ports on the 13-inch MacBook Pro was somewhat minimalist. All you got was two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. These could be expanded via a USB-C hub at an extra expense.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 boasts two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, plus an SXDC card slot, HDMI port and 3.5mm headphone jack. If you want more USB ports the M3 Pro verison includes three. There’s also a separate MagSafe charging port so you don’t have to give up charging in order to plug in something else.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: The end of the Touch Bar

The notch may have arrived with the 14-inch MacBook Pro, but one notable absence is that of the Touch Bar. Love it or loath it, this interactive strip, that changes depending on the app you are using, is no more.

If you like the Touch Bar the 13-inch MacBook Pro is the last chance you’ll have to use it.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Battery Life

With the M3 silicon, there are some significant battery life improvements on the 14-inch MacBook Pro, but not in all cases. Apple says that you’ll get a maximum of 22 hours of video playback with the new machine, two more than its predecessor. But, when it comes to using the internet, the M2-powered 13-inch MacBook Pro retains a surprising lead as it can last for up to 17 hours, which is two more than the newer model.

One small advantage the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 offers is that it supports fast charging, although you’ll need to buy a 97W charger to access the quicker recharge speeds.

MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 vs MacBook Pro 14-inch M3: Verdict

Apple has put some serious work into upgrading the MacBook Pro this time around. While the 13-inch MacBook Pro M2 remains an excellent device, it might not be easy to find now that Apple has discontinued it. To be honest though, the larger, brighter display, extra ports, faster processor, improved webcam and extended battery life (in some situations) makes the 14-inch MacBook Pro a more rounded machine for the demands of modern users. We just wish Apple hadn’t hiked the price up quite so much.

Black Friday is the biggest shopping event of the year, and it’s often the best time to get a good deal on all the tech gadgets you’re looking for. Black Friday is technically the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S. but it has sort of become an entire “season” unto itself, with sales extending several days before and after and often changing over time. We typically see Black Friday deals starting in early November, and culminating in the post-Thanksgiving weekend.

In 2023 Black Friday falls on November 24 and Cyber Monday on November 27. Often, you can save hundreds on a new iPhone, or even get it free, if you trade in an old phone and are willing to stay on a certain plan at a certain carrier for a couple years.

Latest 10th-gen iPad deals

Apple’s 10th-gen iPad (MSRP $449/£499) launched in October 2022, so Black Friday 2023 could bring the biggest discounts to date. We already saw it drop as low as $349 at Target so we’re hopeful for big sales.

Latest 9th-gen iPad deals

The 9th-gen iPad (MSRP $329/£369) from 2021 is still an excellent tablet for kids and people on a budget. It’s regularly on sale for $249 but it could go even lower over Black Friday.

Latest iPad mini deals

The 6th-gen iPad mini (MSRP $499/£569) came out in 2021, but we don’t expect much to change when it’s updated next year. Amazon often sells it for $100 off, so if it goes much lower you shouldn’t hesitate.

Latest iPad Air (2022) deals

In the respects that count—from design to performance, from 5G to accessory support—the latest iPad Air (MSRP $599/£669) is a Pro in all but name. You can often find it on sale for $50 to $100 off so refrain from paying much more than that—and quickly grab one if it goes any lower than $499.

Latest 11-inch iPad Pro deals

Apple’s latest set of iPad Pro models were updated in 2022, but they’re insanely powerful. Major discounts on the 11-inch model (MSRP $799/£899) are fairly uncommon, so if you see savings of $100 or more it probably won’t last long.

Latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro deals

The 12.9-inch version of the Pro (MSRP $1,099/£1,249) is Apple’s top-of-the-line tablet. It’s not cheap but it’s worth the price if you can get it on sale for over $100 off.

Black Friday 2023: Latest AirPods Pro deals

The 2nd-generation AirPods Pro look just like the first-gen model, but they sound better, have longer battery life, and offer a few other welcome improvements. You should look for the just-updated version with a USB-C charging case, which retails for $249 / £229 but is often on sale for at least $50 off.

The third-generation AirPods are a significant upgrade over the 2nd-gen model. They typically retail for $179 / £179 with the wireless charging case, but you can often find them a little cheaper. Apple also sells a model with a wired Lightning case for $169 / £169.

The biggest discounts are typically found on second-generation AirPods. They’re a bit out of date and don’t have nearly the features or sound quality of the third-gen model, but if you primarily want to use them for phone calls rather than music, they’re not a bad buy and you can save a lot of money. Apple sells them for $129 / £129 but you can easily find them for a lot less.

Latest AirPods Max deals

Frankly, AirPods Max are overpriced (even on sale). Compared to other consumer-oriented over-the-ear noise-cancelling headphones, you might pay hundreds more. Apple’s price is $549 / £499, and they’re easy enough to find for up to $100 less, but a good price would be under $400.

The iPhone 15 is lots of things, but it isn’t indestructible. Drop it, knock it, or scratch it, and it will suffer damage that no one would wish on their expensive new purchase.

The most obvious way to protect your iPhone 15, 15 Pro, 15 Plus, or 15 Pro Max—aside from leaving it in the box—is to buy a case that will take the hard knocks and scrapes, leaving your iPhone as Apple intended.

A case is more than just a pretty backplate, so we have some expert tips for you to start.

if you want to jump straight to the case reviews below, we start with clear cases, then look at more colorful cases, followed by the most protective cases and then leather and leather-alternative cases.

We have tested plain cases, wallet cases, cases that support bike and car mounts, and cases with belt-clips.

What to look for in an iPhone case

Protection: According to surveys in the U.S., 45 percent of phone owners will accidentally damage their phones, on average only 10 weeks after purchase. Keep your iPhone in a case and, whichever way it lands, it should be protected from everyday drops. Make sure the case has a raised lip around the front, which will save the screen from a crack when dropped or scratch when placed face down. Look also for a raised edge around the cameras at the back—1mm should be your minimum; some goes as high as 3.6mm.

Apple doesn’t bother, but many case makers claim their cases either meet or exceed “certified military-grade protection”, usually MIL-STD-810G, which is a series of U.S. Department of Defense tests to determine the “overall durability of material system design” of objects. This doesn’t mean you can take them into combat, but does imply that the protection offered is robust and tested. The product should have been sequentially dropped onto each face, edge, and corner for a total of 26 drops onto two-inch thick plywood over concrete.

Big and bulky doesn’t guarantee protection but it’s a fact that for superior protection your case will add more bulk to your iPhone than a flimsy one.

Materials: Thin, soft, and rubbery silicone is a popular phone case material that provides a comfortable grip while not adding any real bulk of the phone. It’s great at protecting a phone from abrasions and scratches but not for fall/drop protection. Silicone can attract dirt more easily and is less durable so you might have to change your case more often than products made with tougher materials.

More rigid cases are usually built with polycarbonate. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are more flexible and softer to the touch than Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU), which are also flexible but more rigid. Both are more resistant to scratches, shock, and abrasion than basic polycarbonate. While not as thin as silicone, they aren’t very bulky and are more durable. However, cheaper clear TPU cases can turn yellow after a year or so due to ultraviolet rays. Look for clear cases with anti-yellowing properties.

Stronger still is Kevlar, which you might know is the material used to make bulletproof vests; it’s also known as Aramid Fiber.

Graphene is even stronger. Zagg claims the graphene used in its Denali Snap case is “harder than a diamond, yet more elastic than rubber, and up to 200x stronger than steel”. That suggests a fall onto the pavement might not be fatal for your phone.

Metal button covers feel more robust than plastic. Some cases leave some buttons exposed. This is especially true for the iPhone 15’s new Action button that seems to have caught out a few case manufacturers.

Below our list of the best iPhone 15 cases, we look deeper into which materials offer the best iPhone protection.

Fit: Aside from protective features, make sure you choose the right case for your exact model. That will ensure that it fits correctly over the buttons for uninterrupted use. Note that some case makers have had problems with the new Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, with their cutouts sometimes not fitting exactly. Such problems will be ironed out quickly by trusted case manufacturers, such as those in our iPhone 15 case reviews below, but cheaper online brands may pose more of a risk in this regard.

MagSafe: Also ensure that the case is MagSafe compatible so that you can charge wirelessly with a MagSafe charger while your iPhone 15 stays in its case. You can, of course, still charge via a cable—which will always be the fastest way to charge an iPhone—but make sure you use a USB-C to USB-C cable for iPhone 15 and at least a 20W USB-C charger—we recommend you start with a 30W or 45W charger; check out our recommended best iPhone chargers.

Style: Finally, while protection and charging are key factors to your iPhone 15 case, many of us appreciate some individuality to mark out the phone as ours. If this is important to you, look out for color choice and customization options. The iPhone 15 colors aren’t overly exciting and one of the joys of buying a new phone is getting a new look, as most other things stay the same even with a brand new iPhone.

How we tested

All cases were tested using an iPhone 15 Pro; case weights listed below are for cases designed for that model.

We didn’t throw our phone out of speeding cars or from the top of tall buildings. We have included only trusted brands so we have to take their word for the actual drop testing. But we have had days of hand-on experience with each case reviewed here.

Here we round up the best cases for the Apple iPhone 15 line, from Apple’s own range of cases, which for the first time doesn’t include any leather options, to third-party options that offer leather and other features, colors, and designs that Apple doesn’t.

Clear cases are the best if you want to see the original iPhone color but remember that to support MagSafe each case needs some magnets, which usually means a giant white ring on the back of compatible clear cases. Colored, patterned or leather cases hide their magnets better.

Best iPhone cases for iPhone 15, 15 Plus, Pro and Pro Max

Does the iPhone 15 fit cases made for the iPhone 14 or 13?

Some case manufacturers—for example, Mujjo and Zagg—state that their iPhone 13/14 and iPhone 14 Plus cases will also fit the equivalent models of the 15 and that if you are upgrading from one of these models you might be able to switch out your case rather than need to buy a new one. No one claimed that the Pro or Pro Max models would fit earlier phones or vice versa.

However, other case makers specifically advise against this. Ashley Huang, MOFT co-founder and product manager, told Macworld that “the data size is completely different”.

“The corners of this generation of Apple are rounded and thinner than previous models. They do not match each other… Unless the mold is made very loose and not tightly matched, low-priced products that require a very low fit with the phone may have the opportunity to be compatible.”

Totallee stated that the sizes of the iPhone 13/14/15 are “similar but different”. “We design our cases to the exact specifications of each model to ensure an optimal fit.”

Which phone case material is the strongest and most protective?

Most casemakers claim their products are super protective and pass “military grade” toughness tests.

Kevlar, an organic fiber in the aromatic polyamide (Aramid) family that combines high strength with light weight, is used in Benks and OtterBox cases. According to Scientific American, Kevlar is five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis and provides reliable performance and solid strength.

It’s the material used for bulletproof vests, cut-resistant gloves and blast and flame barriers. That sounds like more than enough protection for a simple phone case.

But the new tough material on the block is Graphene, which scientists claim is the strongest material ever discovered. “Due to the strength of its 0.142 Nm-long carbon bonds, graphene [has an] ultimate tensile strength of 130,000,000,000 Pascals (or 130 gigapascals), compared to 400,000,000 for A36 structural steel, or 375,700,000 for Aramid (Kevlar)”.

Graphene is apparently 200 times stronger than steel, a substantial increase in strength over Kevlar (5x).

In ballistic tests, graphene was able to absorb approximately 0.92MJ/kg of projectile energy, while steel can typically absorb 0.08MJ/kg when both are being tested at similar speeds.

Graphene’s ability to dissipate energy is due to a high degree of stiffness combined with low density—meaning that energy can move through it very quickly, “allowing for the dissipation of energy from something traveling as fast as a bullet”.

Mobile Phone Accessories

Nearly every Apple device requires a USB-C charger or plug that plugs into your wall power socket and connects to your iPhone, iPad, MacBook with a USB-C cable. As nice as the Apple chargers are, there are superior chargers available from other companies that you should seriously consider.

There are some great Black Friday charger deals and discounts to be found right now. Retailers have started offering early deals on some great USB-C chargers, and we’ve scoured all the sales to share the best values.

Some new devices—such as iPhones and iPads—don’t ship with a charger (plug) so you’ll need to buy one, and having a couple of spare chargers around the house is always helpful, especially if you live with people who also own multiple devices.

Best Black Friday iPhone charger deals

The Ugreen 45W Nexode GaN Charger boasts more power than the above 30W chargers, which might not make fast-charging much quicker but it beats the others with its two ports, so you can fast-charge two iPhones or iPhone plus Apple Watch or AirPods at the same time. That extra power means it’s powerful enough to charge a 13-inch MacBook. At $24.99 it’s 38% off the normal retail price.

The iPhone and MacBook Ugreen Nexode 100W USB-C with MagSafe GaN Charger offers both top-end 15W MagSafe wireless charging for iPhones 12 and later plus three USB ports for charging a MacBook and other devices. I have one on my desk, and I think you should consider it too! During Black Friday it’s on sale for just $119.99, a 33% discount at Amazon.

Pluagble’s Wall Outlet Extender plugs into a wall power socket just like any wall charger but it gives you back that power source with a passthrough socket on the front, plus a 30W USB-C port and and 12W USB-A port. At $15.96, it’s 20% off at Amazon for Black Friday week.

The Journey TRIO 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station will charge your iPhone 12/13/14/15 plus Apple Watch and AirPods (in wireless charging case). The Watch-charging module is detachable so can be plugged directly into any USB-C port and easily carried around. Available in either white or black, this Black Friday it’s 20% off (using the code BF20) for $111.99, down from $139.99.

Best Black Friday MacBook charger deals

Perfect for 13-inch MacBooks, the Ugreen 65W Nexode USB-C GaN Charger has 3 ports so you can charge your MacBook plus other devices, such as your iPhone. It is available on a Black Friday deal for just $29.99 (40% off on Amazon).

The Anker Prime 67W GaN Wall Charger is another small wall charger with three ports (two USB-C and one USB-A) and a total possible output of 67W—enough for a mid-sized laptop, iPhone and your Apple Watch. It’s got a 36% discount, and is available for just $38.40. The code is automatically applied.

The above USB-C chargers are wall chargers that plug straight into a power socket. Desktop chargers connect to the power socket via their own power cable and commonly offer a far-higher number of ports.

The Ugreen 200W USB-C Desktop Charger boasts 6 ports (PD 3.0) and is on sale during Black Friday week with a 40% discount at just $119.99 at Amazon.

The Anker Prime 240W GaN Desktop Charger has three USB-C ports and one USB-A port. It can lay flat or sit upright in its stand. One of its ports is PD 3.1 meaning that it can fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pros nd with a total 240W output there’s plenty of power remaining to charge a bunch of other devices. At $139.99 you’ll save $60 on the standard price this Black Friday.

Similar to a desktop charger but actually a power extender strip, Ugreen’s 65W Charging Station has four USB ports plus three spare AC power sockets. Amazon has shaved nearly half its normal cost, offering it as a mere $39, down from $69.99.

Apple’s AirPods Pro were recently updated at the iPhone 15 event but nothing really changed except the case, which got a USB-C port to replace Lightning. However the old model is just as good, especially at this price: Walmart is selling the 2nd-gen AirPods Pro with a USB-C case for $169, a savings of $80, and the best price we’ve ever seen.

Other than the port and slightly better dust resistance, the 2nd-gen AirPods Pro are Apple’s best earbuds, with noise cancelation and fantastic audio. The design hasn’t changed since the 1st-gen model but the newer model has longer battery life (6 hours vs 4.5 hours), improved audio quality, Adaptive Transparency mode, and improved 2X noise cancellation.

Now that Black Friday season has started, Adobe has dramatically slashed prices. The sale ends on Black Friday itself (November 24) so you may want to take advantage in advance of the big day.

Adobe Creative Cloud normally costs $659.88 / £656.21 a year if bought directly from Adobe (on the annual prepaid plan – those prices went up in 2023, they used to be $599.88 / £596.33 a year). For Black Friday Adobe is offering a discount on that price and the monthly subscription prices. More information below.

Adobe offers a student discount across its range of products. Students can get all apps on an annual plan $359.88/£298.92 after, which is a large discount on the usual $659.88/£656.21 a year. This deal is the same as Adobe’s Black Friday deal in 2022, but prices have actually increased in 2023, so it’s an even better deal.

In the U.S. Students and teachers can save compared to the already discounted student price of $29.99 a month. This is a huge saving compared to the usual $59.99 a month.

How to get Adobe’s Black Friday price if you’re an existing customer

Adobe’s Black Friday deal isn’t available for existing customers, though in the past we have found that beginning the subscription cancellation process can sometimes prompt Adobe to offer a discount or additional months for free to entice users to stay.

If you already have an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription that is due to increase in price in the next few months—say you got the deal last year—or is already priced higher than the latest deal, it may be worth contacting Adobe’s customer service to cancel so you can jump on the new, cheaper Black Friday deal.

Sometimes they will just move you over to the new price without you having to cancel.

The process is simple. Sign into your Adobe CC account and click on “Manage Account”. Here you’ll see your current plan price. Most plans last 12 months, so if that deal is coming up or you are already on a price higher than the Black Friday deal, ask Adobe to switch you over straight away.

The simplest way is to use the Chat service. A Chat speech bubble icon should be in the lower right-hand corner of the webpage. If not, Adobe suggest you cange your browser. After signing in again, scroll down to the bottom to “Start chat”. Explain what you want to do (cancel your current plan and move to the new price) and the Adobe representative will guide you through the process.

Even easier, if you’ve had the account for a few years, is just to ask if you can change to the new Black Friday price. When they say it’s for new customers only, say that you don’t want to go through the whole cancellation process just to get the new price, so could the agent assist you in doing it without cancelling your account.
