• Game providers earn too. If your game makes the TOP 5, the provider also receives a reward.

It’s not just about high scores; it’s about how many people actually played.

• Number of unique wallets that played the game

Hello, Metadium community.

As the first step of the network upgrade we announced earlier this year, the Camellia hard fork will be activated on the Metadium testnet on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

This hard fork is being deployed as a preparatory test ahead of the mainnet rollout. Following the testnet activation, the upgrade will go through several months of stabilization monitoring before being applied to the mainnet. The mainnet is not included in this hard fork and will not be affected.

🌸 About the Camellia Hard Fork

Camellia is a hard fork that brings Ethereum’s Shanghai (2023) and Cancun (2024) upgrades to Metadium as a single combined update. The upgrade reduces gas costs for smart contracts, ensures compatibility with the latest Solidity compiler, and strengthens alignment with the broader Ethereum ecosystem. As a result, Metadium will offer a more efficient environment for dApp development.

The hard fork includes the following changes:

1. New Opcodes (PUSH0, MCOPY)

• New instructions are introduced to improve contracts execution more efficiently. The compiler applies them automatically, resulting in smaller bytecode size and reduced gas costs.

2. Transient Storage (TLOAD / TSTORE)

• A new temporary storage space that exists only within a single transaction. This allows security-critical logic, such as reentrancy guards, to be implemented more cheaply and safely.

3. SELFDESTRUCT Behavior Change

• Previously, a contract could be fully deleted. Now, only contracts created within the same transaction can be deleted. For already-deployed contracts, only the balance is transferred while the code itself remains intact.

4. Warm COINBASE

• Gas costs for transactions that reference the block producer’s address are significantly reduced (2,606 → 106 gas).

5. Initcode Size Limit

• Contract deployment code is now capped at 49,152 bytes. This change is intended to improve network stability.

6. Blob Transaction Support (EIP-4844)

• A new transaction type designed to handle large data payloads more efficiently is introduced.

📅 Schedule

The testnet activation will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, followed by several months of stabilization monitoring. The mainnet activation schedule will be announced separately once the stabilization period is complete.

This hard fork marks the beginning of the network upgrades planned for this year. We will continue preparing the ground so that more projects and ecosystems can build their home on Metadium.

올해 예고드렸던 하반기 네트워크 업그레이드의 첫 단계로, 2026년 5월 20일(수)에 Metadium 테스트넷에 Camellia 하드포크를 적용합니다.

이번 하드포크는 추후 메인넷 적용을 위한 사전 테스트 목적으로 진행되며, 테스트넷 활성화 이후 수개월간의 안정화 기간을 거친 뒤 메인넷에 적용될 예정입니다. 따라서 메인넷은 이번 하드포크에 해당하지 않으므로 영향이 없습니다.

🌸 Camellia 하드포크란

Camellia는 Ethereum의 Shanghai(2023)와 Cancun(2024) 업그레이드를 하나로 묶어 Metadium에 적용하는 하드포크입니다. 이번 업그레이드를 통해 스마트 컨트랙트의 가스비가 절감되고, 최신 Solidity 컴파일러와의 호환성이 확보되며, Ethereum 생태계와의 호환성이 강화됩니다. 결과적으로 Metadium 위에서 더 효율적인 dApp 개발 환경이 마련됩니다.

하나의 하드포크에 다음과 같은 변경 사항이 포함됩니다.

🎮 H1 | MetaArena Launch

In the first half of the year, we’re launching MetaArena — a game tournament platform built on the Metadium blockchain.

MetaArena allows game developers to host tournaments by integrating our SDK, while players use META tokens to participate and earn rewards based on their performance. Prize distribution is handled automatically by smart contracts, and score verification is processed server-side to prevent manipulation. Every step, from entry to prize payout, is transparently recorded on-chain.

Traditional game tournaments have long struggled with opaque prize structures, score manipulation, and high infrastructure costs for developers. MetaArena aims to address all three through blockchain.

⛓️ H2 | Network Upgrade (Hardfork + Blob)

In the second half, we’ll be carrying out a network upgrade to bring more projects and ecosystems onto Metadium.

The core of this upgrade is the introduction of Blob — a technology that enables the blockchain to handle large volumes of data more efficiently, creating an environment where a wider range of projects can build on Metadium.

As we welcome the new year of 2026, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our community members who have unwaveringly supported the project over the past year. 2025 was a crucial time when Metadium focused on solidifying its internal stability as a “real-world applied blockchain infrastructure” amidst a rapidly changing market environment.

Looking back on the second half of 2025, we are transparently sharing the status of wallet development — which the community has been most curious about — and our key activities.

Roadmap Adjustment: Security First Principle

[Status of AI Agent-based Wallet Development] We would like to share the current progress regarding the ‘AI Agent-based Wallet,’ which was originally targeted for the second half of last year. During the development and testing process, we identified critical security risks that can occur when the characteristics of generative AI models are combined with blockchain wallet functions. The representative technical background for the decision to suspend development is as follows:

• Address Mutation (Arbitrary Modification of Recipient Address): During the process of the AI interpreting the user’s natural language commands, instances were confirmed where the AI arbitrarily changed specific character strings of an input wallet address to a similar pattern or misidentified them, generating incorrect transactions.
• Prompt Injection Vulnerability: A structural vulnerability was identified where, if an external attacker plants malicious commands within transaction data, the AI agent could ignore existing security rules and be induced to transfer assets to a path designated by the attacker.
• Verification Omission (Skipping Validation & Abnormal Signature Request): A process error occurred where the AI arbitrarily skipped the ‘Final Confirmation of Transaction Details’ step — which is essential for safe transfers — and requested an immediate signature. This poses a risk of causing users to perform a ‘blind signature’ without realizing that the content has been altered, potentially neutralizing asset protection procedures.

[Strategic Decision: Security First] In a blockchain wallet that directly handles assets, the risks mentioned above can lead to the total loss of a user’s assets with just a single occurrence. Under the principle that “Asset safety takes precedence over speed,” our team concluded that it is impossible to release a feature where these security flaws are not 100% technically controlled. Consequently, we plan to temporarily suspend the development of this feature and re-evaluate it once technical safety is fully secured.

Efforts and Status for Ecosystem Development in H2 2025

Although some roadmap items were adjusted due to safety concerns, the Metadium team has worked ceaselessly throughout the second half of the year to build a foundation where Metadium can actually be used to ensure the project’s survival and growth. The five key achievements we have garnered as a result are as follows:

① Application to Global Climate Projects (ITMO)

We proved the real-world value of blockchain. Metadium’s DID and NFT technology were applied to Korea’s first International Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO) pilot project. This contributed to the official recognition of a total of 680,000 tons of greenhouse gas reduction, confirming that Metadium is functioning as essential infrastructure in the environmental sector.

② Integration with AI Services (Daepa)

We successfully pursued integration with AI services. The AI-based emotion training service ‘Daepa’ was officially launched, with Metadium DID applied as the core infrastructure for user identification. This is a meaningful case demonstrating that Metadium can be utilized as an identity authentication solution for the AI industry beyond simple blockchain applications.

③ Reorganization and Stabilization of Node Partnership System

We completely reorganized our node composition for the practical expansion of the ecosystem. We transitioned from a system focused on simple operation to one comprised of partners capable of joint business expansion. Through this, we have established a bridge to connect directly with various industries, including education, climate, and media.

④ Securing Essential Foundation for Public Sector Entry (K-BTF & CSAP)

We prepared an important foothold for entering public sector business. Metadium participated as the base blockchain in the ‘K-BTF (Korea Blockchain Trust Framework)’ pilot project conducted by CP Labs. Furthermore, to meet the strict security standards required in this process, we are proceeding with the CSAP (Cloud Security Assurance Program) review, thereby acquiring the essential qualifications for future adoption by public institutions.

⑤ Advancement of ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) Technology

We solidified our technical foundation for privacy protection. By introducing ZKP technology into the Metadium wallet, we established a system where users can safely prove necessary qualifications without exposing their raw sensitive personal information. This marks a technological advancement that strengthens data sovereignty.

We believe the true value of blockchain is generated when it functions as an infrastructure that serves as a base for various services, going beyond a mere object of speculation.

2025 was a year where we ran without rest to expand the ‘places where Metadium is used,’ covering diverse areas such as carbon reduction, AI services, and public projects. Based on the experience and achievements of the past year, we will continue to do our best in 2026 to fulfill our inherent role of making a ‘Metadium that is actually used’ rather than creating artificial hype.

[AI 에이전트 기반 지갑 개발 현황] 당초 하반기 목표였던 ‘AI 에이전트 지갑’과 관련하여 현재 진행 상황을 말씀드립니다. 개발 및 테스트 과정에서 생성형 AI 모델의 특성이 블록체인 지갑 기능과 결합될 때 발생할 수 있는 치명적인 보안 리스크들이 확인되었습니다. 개발 중단을 결정하게 된 대표적인 기술적 배경을 간략히 설명드리면 다음과 같습니다.

• 수신 주소 임의 변조: AI가 사용자의 자연어 명령을 해석하는 과정에서, 입력된 지갑 주소의 특정 문자열을 유사한 패턴의 다른 주소로 임의 변경하거나 오인하여 트랜잭션을 생성하는 현상이 확인되었습니다.
• 프롬프트 인젝션 취약점: 외부 공격자가 트랜잭션 데이터에 악의적인 명령어를 심을 경우, AI 에이전트가 기존 보안 규칙을 무시하고 공격자가 지정한 경로로 자산 전송을 유도할 수 있는 구조적 취약점이 식별되었습니다.
• 검증 절차 누락 및 비정상적 서명 요청: 안전한 전송을 위해 필수적인 ‘트랜잭션 내용 최종 확인’ 단계를 AI가 임의로 생략하고, 즉시 서명을 요청하는 프로세스 오류가 발생했습니다. 이는 사용자가 변조된 내용을 인지하지 못한 채 ‘블라인드 서명’을 하게 만들 위험이 있어, 자산 보호 절차를 무력화시킬 수 있습니다.

[전략적 판단: 보안 최우선] 자산을 직접 다루는 블록체인 지갑에서 위와 같은 리스크는 단 1회의 발생만으로도 사용자의 자산 전액 손실을 초래할 수 있습니다. 저희 팀은 “속도보다 자산의 안전이 최우선”이라는 원칙하에, 해당 보안 결함들이 기술적으로 100% 통제되지 않는 상태에서의 출시는 불가능하다고 결론지었습니다. 이에 기술적 안전성이 완벽히 확보되는 시점까지 해당 기능의 개발을 잠정 보류하고 재검토할 예정입니다.

비록 안전성 문제로 인해 일부 로드맵은 조정되었으나, 메타디움 팀은 프로젝트의 존속과 성장을 위해 메타디움이 실제로 쓰일 수 있는 기반을 만드는 데 지난 하반기 동안 끊임없이 노력해 왔습니다. 그 결과 거둔 5가지 주요 성과는 다음과 같습니다.

① 글로벌 기후 프로젝트 적용 (ITMO)

블록체인의 실사용 가치를 입증했습니다. 메타디움의 DID와 NFT 기술이 한국 최초의 국제 감축(ITMO) 실증 프로젝트에 적용되었습니다. 이를 통해 총 68만 톤의 온실가스 감축 실적을 공식 인정받는 데 기여하며, 환경 분야에서 필수적인 인프라로 작동하고 있음을 확인했습니다.

② AI 서비스와의 융합 시도 (대파, Daepa)

AI 서비스와의 결합을 성공적으로 추진했습니다. AI 기반 감정 트레이닝 서비스 ‘대파(Daepa)’가 정식 출시되었으며, 여기에 메타디움 DID가 사용자 식별을 위한 핵심 인프라로 적용되었습니다. 이는 메타디움이 AI 산업의 신원인증 솔루션으로 활용될 수 있음을 보여준 의미 있는 사례입니다.

③ 노드 파트너십 체계 개편 및 안정화

생태계의 실질적인 확장을 위해 노드 구성을 전면 개편했습니다. 단순 운영을 넘어 실제 비즈니스를 함께 확장할 수 있는 파트너사들로 체계를 전환했습니다. 이를 통해 교육, 기후, 미디어 등 다양한 산업군과 직접 연결될 수 있는 교두보를 마련했습니다.

Government-Backed Pilot Adopts Metadium’s DID Technology

Metadium’s decentralized identity (DID) technology has been adopted for the 2025 pilot project of the Korea Blockchain Trust Framework (K-BTF), led by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The K-BTF program aims to validate the use of blockchain-powered trust infrastructure within public services.

CPLABS is responsible for building the DID platform for this year’s pilot, with Metadium as the underlying blockchain protocol. The project covers the entire lifecycle of DID infrastructure — from system design to cloud-based deployment and security certification — offering a robust opportunity to demonstrate the scalability and reliability of Metadium’s technology in real-world public cloud environments.

CSAP Certification in Progress for Metadium-Based DID Platform

CPLABS has successfully implemented a Metadium-based DID platform, including DID issuance, authentication, and verification functions. The platform has formally entered the CSAP (Cloud Security Assurance Program) evaluation process, which is a mandatory certification for any cloud service provider offering solutions to public institutions in Korea.

The CSAP review will assess technical performance and verify the platform’s compliance with administrative and policy standards.

This marks a meaningful step forward for Metadium DID as it transitions from technical showcase to deployable infrastructure for government-grade digital identity systems.

Expanding from Private Sector to Public Sector Applications

Having proven itself in multiple commercial use cases, Metadium DID is now being tested for public sector readiness and policy alignment. Metadium’s blockchain is purpose-built for identity issuance and verification and features a native DID method optimized for privacy, traceability, and regulatory compliance — qualities that align well with government requirements.

The newly built platform is expected to serve as the foundation for a range of future public services, including cloud-based identity issuance, digital authentication, and point-integrated administrative programs.
