Quickly move on to the story, Hari performed by Unni Mukundan is the native of the same village where his friend Ani (Kunchako Boban) lives. Both of them are childhood mates and besides that Ani's sister Ashwathy's (Samvrutha Sunil) wedding was almost done with Hari. On the other hand Hari's uncle and relatives are making plans to remove him off the way to get hold of Hari's wealth. In this mashup, Hari absconds from his village due to some unwanted circumstances.

After seven years Ani spotted some clips of the T.V.Show, where a young sikh named Harinder Singh frames out. Harinder Singh almost match the figure of Hari, On this Suspicion Ani decide to search out for Harinder Singh alias Mallu Singh and land in the land of Punjab.

Ani wonder to know that Hari courts a beard and wear turban and attires Punjabi tradition. Ani decide to scratch out the truth behind this Harinder Singh alias Mallu Singh with the help of Susheelan (Suraaj Venjharamoodu), Karti (Biju Menon), Pappan (Manoj K.Jayan), that lead to the rest of the story.

Director Vysakh and Scriptwriter Sethu doesn't done enough work on the plot, otherwise it could be louder then being just a colourful one. Script has nothing new in the store, thats it effected the whole binding.

Vysakh who earlier gifted 'Pokkiri Raja' and 'Seniors', lacks down his burden on this "Mallu Singh". In terms of picturization, its too lengthy for the shots, however songs are visualized at the best of Punjab by cinematographer Shaji.

Mahesh Narayanan's editing settles some scores as it provide some breathing space to this malayalam film "Mallu Singh". Songs are nice with the touch of M.Jayachandran and Murugan Kattakada.

Ratheesh made his return to the Malayalam cinema after the gap, all conveys his elegance towards cinema industry and its lovers.

Ratheesh Actor or a Farmer

Ratheesh always prefers his first choice to be related to films, born on 1954 in Kalavoor, which was then part of Thiru - Kochi and now in Alappuzha.

Along with the Malayalam films, he also had his interest in farming, for that he also bought up a land in Tamil Nadu to do the farming, but the results not came in his favor. After not finding success in farming, Ratheesh perceived the financial crunch, which kind of disheartened him.

Entry into Malayalam Films

In the end of 70's, Ratheesh as actor made his debut through the 'Vezhambal' Malayalam film, with the small time role and later in 1979, his second small appearance came up with the film 'Ullkadal' directed by K G George.

With the beginning of 80's, the actor slowly started his journey to the success with the release of Bharathan directed 'Chamaram' and I.V.Sasi directorial 'Thusharam'.

'Chamaram' showcased the actor as a lover, who waits for his lady love, It also include the classic song 'Nadha Nee Varum Kalocha Kelkuvan' sung by S Janaki and Music was composed by M.G.Radhakrishnan. 'Thusharam' depicts another side of Ratheesh, which enhances the more opportunities for him.

Padmarajan - What Happened at that Night?

24th January 1991 was the day at Paramount Towers Hotel in Calicut. Clock was ticking around midnight, a silent heart attack left a man sleeping in his room alone. Gandhimathi Balan knocked at the doors of Producer Goodknight Mohan and actor Nitish Bhardwaj. They all rush through the room to know that what happened to that man.

Influence of Malayalam Films

It was the time, when he took up the pen to rewrite the destiny for Malayalam films and that era was considered as most precious and transcendent in terms of film making. His working guise have influenced many in new generation of film fraternity. Along with legends K G George and Bharathan, Padmarajan movies sets out to change the established methods in Malayalam cinema. On 24th January 2022, it was his 32nd death anniversary and we all know him as Padmarajan

Everyone who hails from the film field, affectionately calls him "Papettan". In all these years, Padmarajan lived along with cinema and with his sudden demise, he left a feel of sorrow and isolation for Malayalam movie lovers.

Early Life

P.Padmarajan Pillai was born on 1945, May 23 at Muthukulam, near Onattukara in Alleppey (Alappuzha) district, Kerala. His father Anantha Padmanabha Pillai and Njavarakal Devaki Amma's sixth son Padmarajan completed his schooling at Muthukulam and later on moved to Trivandrum for higher studies with M.G.College and University for the graduation in Chemistry in 1963.

Padmarajan's touch in Sanskrit enhanced under the guidance of Achyutha Warrier. In 1965, He joined All India Radio, Thrissur and continued as a programme announcer until 1986, after this he chose to voluntary retirement from AIR . He also shifted to Poojapurra in 1968 to concentrate on his story and script writing.

Padmarajan Books

'Nakshatrangale Kaaval' was his first novel, which bestowed Padmarajan with Kerala Sahithya Academy Award in 1972, which turned to the cinema by director K S Sethumadhavan. Then came the golden era of Malayalam cinema in 1975, with the new approach to the Malayalam films which gave new meanings to the commercial and intellectual based cinemas. Padmarajan step to the Malayalam cinema world with director Bharathan's first movie 'Prayaanam' by preparing the screenplay for this film. Along with Bharathan and K.G.George, he maintained his stature for the parallel films.

However Padmarajan books and short stories had presented the golden years in the history of Malayalam film industry and proved that he will always be remembered for his invaluable intellectual persona.

Padmarajan Movies

He continued to script for films 'Thakara', 'Rathinirvedam', 'Itha Ivide Vare', 'Vadekyoru Hrudayam', 'Idavela'. On 1979, Padmarajan began to direct the films based on his own script, on this pattern the first release was 'Peruvazhiambalam', which gave him the National Award for Best Feature Film.

In the span of seven year, he won again an Best Film National Award for 'Thinkalazhcha Nalla Divasam'. On this criteria Master gem piece like 'Thoovanathumbikal' and 'Deshadanakilli Karayarilla' striking to the depth of a society.

'Nammuku Parkan Munthiree Thopukal', 'Novemberinte Nashtam', 'Kallan Pavithran', 'Oridathoru Phayalvaan', 'Koodevide', 'Moonampakkam', 'Aparan', 'Innale', 'Njan Gandharvan' include his craft of Malayalam films.

Padmarajan As Mentor

Padmarajan's assistants are still making proud movies in Malayalam cinema include Thopil Ajayan, Suresh Unnithan, Blessy are few of them and introduced many actors to the Malayalam cinema, whether it is Rehaman and Suhasini through 'Koodevide', Jayaram made his debut through 'Aparan', Nitish Bhardwaj in 'Njan Gandharvan', Ajayan through 'Moonam Pakkam'.

Filmmaker Family

Padmarajan married to his Colleague from AIR (All India Radio), Radhalakshmi in 1970. Their children are Anantha Padmanabhan and Madhavikutty. Aanatha Padmanabhan has done scripting for Malayalam films as well.

After going through this animal titled movie 'Aadu 1 - Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu' from debutante director Midhun Manuel Thomas, it felt to have bridges confusion between script and narration.

It was supposed to be an entertainer, but it felt in papers only. This flick has its moments here and there, when we count it overall then it's a disappointing one......

Storyline

Launch of this film had arises some expectations with the voice over of Mamukkoya. Here we have Shaji Paapan (Jayasurya) as owner of a tug of war team 'Winners', Pothumukku in the district Idukki. The team compete in the local tournament and wins the same where they received the prize money of 22,222 and a she-goat as well.

Meanwhile, Shaji hates women because of his wife who had leaved him in the middle. Over to that prize of she-goat named 'Pinki' became headache for him. As they move on to their destination, the team decides to have a dinner party at the hotel with the same goat. Rest of the story discusses all the hubbub develops around them.

Technical Aspect

As we said earlier the confusion in the script just spoil the good buildup in the beginning. In the narration first half was nice, while second half totally went out of hand. Midhun Manuel Thomas seems to have got in two different mode as director and scriptwriter to detail the narration.

Shaan Rahman's good work as Musician, which gave different approach towards characters. Especially those of intro-scenes have added some nice attraction. Vishnu Narayanan needs to be appreciated for cinematography, which provided the rich visuals.

Stars and Acting Performance

On performance side, too much of characters are there. Jayasurya did his best to match the character, whether from his looks or from acting. Vinayakan was apt for his role, Saiju Kurup, Sudhy Kopa, Dharmajan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Bhagath Manuel all have managed their respective roles with fine rendition.

Vijay Babu didn't find him in comfortable position with his character. Aju Varghese, Srinda Ashab, Indrans, Sunny Wayn have justified their small roles. For the banner of Friday Film House, Sandra Thomas and Vijay Babu are the producers of this film.

Perariyathavar Movie Review

Perariyathavar is about a non-permanent sweeper (played by Suraj Venjaramoodu) employed with the city's Municipal corporation. He is a widower and lives in a slum with his son (played by Master Govardhan). In fact he is moving through the situation where humanity also seems to be stand low in front of him.

His close companion is Chami (Indrans), who works along with him. In all situations of their life, Chami is there to share father and son's sorrow. In the narration, it also has mechanic workshop master (Nedumudi Venu) a drunkard. Rest of the story deals with the life of their surrounding people and the problems their compeer have to face.

Technicalities and Aspect

Yes, definitely it struck the right chords, when it comes to emotions and the sulky mood, all set the tone in balance. Dr. Biju effectively materialize the story around lead character and his son, but it lacks in terms of other characters. It is difficult to analyze, how normal audience would receive this theme.

The crew needs to be appreciated, especially cinematographer M J Radhakrishnan for adapting those emotions in scenes. Editor Karthik Jogesh did a nice job and Issac Thomas Kottukapally's music also blends the plight of these nameless faces in our society.

Konthayum Poonoolum Review

With the potential of becoming good one, Jijo Antony directorial 'Konthayum Poonoolum' movie didn't presented that enigma by which audience would have felt like we have seen something different. Multi narration again came into use, but the problem occurs with the story telling where first half totally gave the incompatible beginning. On the whole, here and there you could scratch some good scenes otherwise it is an average film.

Storyline

First of all we get to see the love happening between Krishnan (Kunchacko Boban) and Amritha (Bhama). Both eloped from their families to live their own life and in support from the friend Martin (Shine Tom Chacko) helps them a lot during their tough times and the bit of Mammootty fan in him provide him that manfulness. But the problems still persist around because of facing some infidel elements in the society.

Now we move through different characters entry with a cruel money-lender (Manoj K Jayan), who feels that someone's specter is behind him. Then there is a police constable (Kalabhavan Mani), skeptical in behaviour finds an extra affair with another woman (Kavitha Nair). Next one is of photographer (Joy Mathew) and last is a student (Sarayu), who wanted to play some mischief on her friend. All these characters have enveloped in a thread to sum up the proceedings.

Technical and Acting Performance

The actors have displayed their respective characters in a fine way, Kunchacko Boban done his usual, Bhama also stays same with her role. Manoj K Jayan was the pick of the best and his specter friend Johnny done by Saiju Kurup was also suited the space. Shine Tom Chacko, Joy Mathew, Kalabhavan Mani, Janardhanan, Sarayu, Kavitha Nair and others have justified their respective roles. Mejjo Joseph has done his best with background score and the songs were not that enticing.

The director seems to have lost the grip in this horror or may be thriller tale and it produce more baffled situation with one by one entry of actors. Script also stays at meager level and one can foreshadowed that what is going to happen next. Saving point to some extent is visual compositions grabbed by cinematographer Pappinu, is just commendable. Edits were nice by Vijai Sanker and sound designs does enhance climax portions. Kala is brilliant in her studies and everything was happening fine in her life till Bharathan get to know about some facts. The main attraction is dedication of actress Bhamaa and the way she performed, brings on tremendous impact on screen. On performance wise, there is no two-way to say it is best. Bobby was one among them who came to Malayalam cinema to live their dreams, but at last they left with nothing.

He dons a role of tea vendor, thief and other side roles in industry, although he left his signature in every character he played.

On 1945, March 11, he was born to Pareedu Ravuthar and Hajeera bivi as their elder son - Abdul Aziz, later he came to the wisdom of comedy in Malayalam cinema and became Bobby Kottarakkara.

He started with Kathaprasangam and with his Comic Caper in the play 'Ulluk' gets the super hit tag. After that he turned to drama and later on to the silver screen.

He got his first break with the movie 'Pallattu Kunjikannan'(1980) directed by Boban Kunchako and however his first mainstream movie was A B Raj directed 'Aakrosham' in 1982 in which Prem Nazir and Sreevidya done the main roles. After that he didn't get any chance for three years.

On 1985, Sibi Malayil directed 'Mutharam Kunnu P O' movie's Remanan character gave Bobby a big break in Malayalam film industry.

After Sibi Malayil directorial Malayalam movie he became the part of commercial movies like 'Akkare Ninnoru Maran (Gireesh)', 'Naradan Keralathil (Appukuttan)', 'Vadakku Noki Yanthram (Sahadevan)', 'Varavelpu (Pappan)', 'Mazhavil Kavadi (Murukan)' were few of his characters which gets the audience attention.

The Malayalam actor never done the roles other than comic ones in fact director even not dare to give him preference for bold roles and main ones. Thaha directed 'Thekekara Superfast' was his last movie.

It hurts that actors like Bobby Kottarakkara wasn't remembered by Malayalam cinema or in any mode of media.

Here story takes place in terms of traditional art form 'Theyyam' and the center of theme is woman named Gauri (Anumol) who flee with her lover despite of her family's opposition. Things started to get in trouble when it comes to living in altogether different atmosphere because both hails different caste. Rest of the hope goes downcast with death of her husband.

After all this trauma she gets helping hand from her husband's family, where her father-in-law (M R Gopakumar) brought her back home, while the tone of protest was there in community. At the same time she experience the mental stress and everything moves to different medium.

There it starts misconception with people believe her as embodiment of Goddess. Rest of the plot concentrates her life struggle to survive this social practice.

Anumol has given her incredible source of effort to live out this arduous character. M R Gopakumar well matured actor was spot on with his unmatched rendering.

Jijoy and the child artist were there with convincing effort for their respective characters. Music and BGM was satisfactory with the theme by Chandran Vayyattummal and lyrics by Kureepuzha Sreekumar.

The director has shown some good caliber, especially after opting for women oriented subject. On technical aspect the movie seems to have lost a bit, where camera works and editing could have offered much more precise and gentle touch. Altogether this movie's crew needs a special mention here, who had came up with this movie. Neru Films banner are the producer.

Visuals haven't deceived here, at least we can say after watching Drishyam Malayalam movie. Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal have burst off all the anticipations round the corner with splendid appearance. Surely Mohanlal is back in action after a long, true superstar performance from him. Second half pretty smartly covers the inconsistent element in the first half. On the verdict, kudos to the team involved in this attempt to provide the outstanding thrilling experience.

Storyline

The story takes place at a high range rural village, where Georgekutty (Mohanlal) operates his cable TV service. Although he hasn't studied much, but knows the basic of other related businesses under his arm. A typical middle class family of Georgekutty, consist wife Rani (Meena) and their daughters Anju (Ansiba) and Anu (Esther). He loves his family as well as movies that he watch on television set in the small space of his office.

With ingratiating behavior of Georgekutty, where the things move smoothly just before the first half. Situations goes wayward with a school camp attended by his daughter invites Varun (Roshan Basheer) to their joyful life. Varun is the son of Geetha Prabhakar (Asha Shareth), who is an I.G. with Police department. Here we get to know that Varun is being killed and the investigation starts around Georgekutty's family. This all forms the efforts of Georgekutty to save his family from unprecedented circumstances.

Technical

Jeethu Joseph deserves the full credit for successfully bringing existence of engaging narration, especially in rural backdrop. Script has been written with utmost attention and each character has its relevance in communication. Although "Memories" factor rise up, which was shaded up in urban psychology, nevertheless "Drishyam" wholeheartedly delights you. Impressive visual composition from Sujith Vaassudev to detail the scenes. The music also gave the needful and it has been given by Anil Johnson and Vinu Thomas.

Mohanlal, Bingo..., right on the money and bring back his charisma to stamp that why people call him "Lalettan". The character well suited him and the way he rendered his character between two different atmosphere is terrific. Meena leaved no margin of doubt with her character, Kalabhavan Shajohn swiftly changed to altogether a new avatar and totally worth it. Asha Shareth, Siddique, Irshad, Kunjan, Roshan, Ansiba, Esther, Balaji and others have justified their respective characters.

Two decade have gone past that Kuthiravattam Pappu left us. Kozhikode's street still apprise the stories of how Padmadalakshan became the 'Pappu' of Malayalam cinema. After that standing with his counterparts he never gloom in cinema field. His acting become big lessons for young generation stars and still reading in by books.

Actor's Life

Kozhikode Kuthiravattam 'Panaghatuveetil' Raman and Devi's son pappu's life was hard on him as a beginner. His miserable life led him to stop his studies in the middle. Padmadalakshan still survive as he loved art as much as anything else in his life.

Acting Career

Kozhikode's Raja Theatre and Akashvani's 'Deshaposhini' (Radio program) witness the presence of Kuthiravattam Pappu's comedy.

He cemented his place among biggies of Malayalam drama artists like Balan K.Nair, Kunjandi, Bhaskaran, Kunjava. After that Kuthiravatam Papu turns to drama writing, he jointly prepared 'Kappayill Nin Cinemayileke' with his friend Venu, make way for cinema director Ramu Karyat, to watch his first drama.

Ramu karyat thrilled with Pappu's skill to offer him a role in his movie called 'Mutupadam', that open the doors of opportunity for Kuthiravattam Pappu.

On 1964 'Bhargavinilayam' set that, Bepoor Sultan Vaikom Muhammed Basheer named Padmadalakshan as "Kuthiravattam Pappu", that name birth his fate through which it climb the success ladder quickly in Malayalam film fraternity.

His Kozhikodan style and his accent gave him a different identity and fans in the South Indian industry. He nurtured and pampered every character essayed in his career. He never misused his freedom for his style and acting.

One cannot forget Pappu's mannerism in films like 'Manichitrathazhu', 'Thenmavin Kombathu', 'Chandralekha', 'Kalyana Unnikal', 'Oru Muthassi Katha', 'Aaram Thampuran', 'Sundarakilladi', 'Thooval Kottaram', 'Mr. Butler'.

Family

His Up's and Down's witnessed by his wife - Padmini, and Children - Bindu, Biju, Binu and Son in Law - Gopikrishanan. Kuthiravattam Pappu's son Binu Pappu is also a well known actor and assistant director in Malayalam film fraternity.

In 1977, Kuthiravattam Pappu bestowed with the Best Comedian Award. Director Ranjith was supposed to do the solo movie with Kuthiravatom Papu and actress Sukumari.

But Kuthiravattam Pappu's death takes it all with him.With his 32 years long term in Malayalam cinema ends on his 62nd year of birth. He looms behind the Silver screen.

His memories will always last with his laugh to the death........

Over spanning 50 years of his life in Malayalam cinema, Bahadoor had his last laugh on May 22 in 2000. He last made his presence felt in Lothithadas directed film 'Joker', his character of joker always ready with the smile to entertain the audience, that was well jelled up with the real life of Bahadur.

Bus conductor turned actor Kunjalu Kochumoideen Padiyath made his debut with the film 'Avakashikal' in 1954.

Entry into Malayalam Films

Kunjalu met Thikurshi Sukumaran Nair through his relative that made P.K.Kunjalu to rename his stage name as Bahadoor.

Film Career

'Padatha Paikilli' turned his stars to the sky, After this there were his combination with S.P.Leela reigned the screens. Later on his screen presence with Adoor Bhasi turned out to be the gem for the Malayalam Cinema. People enjoyed every bit of Bhasi and Bahadoor team as their own life.

The actor also tried his hands at production with his production house 'Ithihasa Pictures' in 1970, but it couldn't gave any pay back to Bahadoor. Ithihasa Pictures produced 12 films not gave any good collections to survive. In the end of 70's he started a Black and White studio named K.C. Lab, which also gone down with his expectations as it was the era that turning to the color films.

Few of his films include 'Kaalathinte Shabdam' in which he portrayed the character of Nanu Pillai, 'Nair Pidicha Pulivaalu' as Keshu, 'Unniyarcha' as Kittu, 'School Master' as Damodaran, 'Chattakkari' as Rahim, 'Mandanmmar Londanil' as Mooppan, 'Malootty' as Kuttan Pillai.

Bahadoor as Family Man

Bahadoor was born in 1930 at Kodungalloor during the British India, which is now in Thrissur. Padiyath Blangalil Kochumoideen and Khadeeja's son turned out to be the unforgettable actors in the history of Indian Cinema.
