This edition is the celebration of the one year anniversary of the lifespan of Musings of the Living. It looks at how much this podcast has grown. We also focus on things that are small with big effects or expand to a lager size than was originally expected. Some examples of this are a story, a high school band making it big and interviews with people that live in a small town with big, beauteous surroundings and have had big adventures. Perhaps one of the great highlights of this anniversary commemoration is the return of an old friend.

This edition of Musings of of the Living is quite revolutionary. It's a testing of our musical skill including a song by Erik and a new section titled "Top 3 Songs". The second chapter of Joel's story Tim's Dream is brought to life as we experiment with sound effects and music. Then Erik and Joel discuss the Scottish electronic band "Boards of Canada". We incorporate a great new feature in which we interview a local personnel who in this case works for the West End Cultural Center among other things. We also include a song of his from an album that hasn't been released yet. Erik then reads a poem/a collection of haikus and Joel starts off a serial story. Erik and Joel then have a song that's going to be released with their album 765 Rooftops, which is still in production. Joel then responds to a book and then Joel and Erik reflect upon Supertramp as requested by Linda Tiessen Wiebe of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In this edition of Musings of the Living, we experiment with pitch, hence the title. We include an opening song, which is based simply on the dial tone of a phone. We also have our second original song that we've recorded and after that Joel reflects on his photography. To finish it all off, we do our musical spotlight on Neil Young and then let you exit our world with a remix of a grade 10 applied mathematics class.

This edition is shorter than the rest, mainly due to an absense of Joel's writing and a comdedy section. It's focus is on the beauty of small town and rural life. You will get a glimpse of Canada by listening to the emerging new band The Sword Swollowers (name in continual process of change) first song, The Rockies.

You'll then get a taste of Erik's knack for storytelling as he completes the story that he started last edition. The musical legend Johnny Cash is then focused on in this edition's musical spotlight. Enjoy!

Heroes on the Radio focuses on the quirkiness of an everyday life in which everyone can and is a hero in some odd way. We open up with a quirky song that uses everyday sounds to establish a beat. Going back to the idea of responses a quick dialogue on the song follows. A new serial story begins after this, read by Erik this time. Then we've got a one time interview with a local cat-saving hero: Jo-bob.

We sequel that with a new section to the podcast that will hopefully give you an idea of the kind of movies and books we read and watch as well as introduce you to some new films and novels. We've taken a small break from the musical discussions as we need to find another band/artist that both of us know enough about to sustain a conversation. Then Joel stars on the guitar doing a duet on his own to ease out of the realm of the living's musings.

This edition is focused on the dismal side of life to an extreme that is unbelievable by many. The reason we say this is that we include a song with "harsh beats", which unfortunately we didn't include a discussion for as we're taking a break from that. We may return to it, but for now we're seeing what we can do with the extra time. We include an adventure in the forest by one of our reporters, as well as the long-awaited final part of Bluedon's Tree. Following that is what it means for Erik to be a poet.

A very, very intriguing interlude then precedes that which is Erik's debut on guitar and Joel supporting him with some chords. We then feature a discussion on the intriguingly aloof band, Gorillaz. A slightly darker outro ends it.

This edition contains a wide variety of topics, loosely based on the concept of home. There's a very experimental and odd song by Joel Penner based on the idea of dry lips, with a response by Erik Berg.

Here's a surprise, for the first time in the history of time, space and everything else we don't know about, Musings of the Living has just got the rights to broadcast a very popular quiz show; Crazy Curious Quiz Questionare! We're very excited about this new oppurtunity to let everyone hear the great questions and content contained within it.

We then have the second part of the story "Bluedon's Tree" (written by Joel Penner), read by the author. There is then some great poetry by our poet in residence, Erik Berg, as well as a blurb on the meaning of it.

The musical spotlight is on the very popular singer/songwriter Robert Allen Zimmerman (Bob Dylan). We play his very meaningful song "Blowing in the Wind", and then have a discussion on our experiences with Bob Dylan, how we got introduced to him, some of our favourite songs of his and some general discussion. This chapter in the adventure that is Musings of the Living contains a few awesome tidbits of our lives. You'll hear some songs, a poem read by Erik J. Berg, the first third of Joel Penner's story, a great discussion on the very amazing band, Coldplay, and an experiment I conducted in my yard one day, which turned in some very odd results. The reasoning behind it's name is because it contains some classic stuff (mozart, a great discussion) and combines it with the modern like Coldplay, electronic songs and such. Enjoy.

Then there is a uniquely odd calling-in feature where our many fans ask questions they've had about Musings of the Living.

A fast, rhythm-oriented song then finishes this episode off.

The debut! Joel Penner unleashes his first song on the general population (Artistic Screaming Grace), while Kelsey Heinrichs gives a very helpful response to it. Joel's debuts with his writing as well with an odd piece on how his teeth portray changes in his life. And to finish it off, the short-lived reporters Bob Zoodoggle Joe Smoochka, who were reporting from an island at the time passed away before their first segment even got on the air. A tragic tale indeed.
