Applicants seeking admission into the HND programmes must hold a National Diploma (ND) with at least Lower Credit in a relevant field.

The Governing Council of the University of Uyo has appointed Professor Christopher Nyong Ekong as the 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university.

His appointment takes effect from 16 June 2026.

KHAIRUN received the approval through an official letter dated 7 April 2026 and signed by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission.

The accreditation exercise took place in October/November 2025. After the review, the NUC granted full accreditation status to the three Computing programmes listed by the university.

NUC Grants Full Accreditation to Six SLU Programmes

The National Universities Commission approved full accreditation for six undergraduate programmes at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa.

This approval followed Section 10 (1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. That section gives the NUC the power to set Minimum Academic Standards for academic programmes offered by Nigerian universities, and to accredit those programmes after assessment.

The approval was sent to the university through a letter with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/323. The letter was dated 4 April 2026 and signed by the Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu.

Agriculture Programme Gets Five-Year Full Accreditation

The Bachelor of Agriculture programme at SLU received five-year full NUC accreditation status.

This programme is taught under the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resource Management. Its areas of specialisation are Crop Science, Soil and Land Management, Animal Science, and Agricultural Economics and Extension.

For students in the faculty, the approval confirms that the programme met the NUC’s required academic standard during the accreditation visit.

Computing Programmes Also Secure Full NUC Approval

The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology also recorded full accreditation for three programmes.

The approved programmes are:

• B.Sc. Cyber Security
• B.Sc. Information Technology
• B.Sc. Software Engineering

These programmes were part of the accreditation exercise conducted by the NUC at the university between October and November 2025.

History Education and Political Science Gain Full Accreditation

The Faculty of Education also had one programme cleared.

B.A. (Ed.) History received full accreditation status after the NUC visit.

The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences also secured full accreditation for B.Sc. Political Science, adding another approved programme to the university’s list.

While speaking on the approval, the Director of Academic Planning of the university, Dr Abdullahi Haruna Birniwa, said all 36 academic programmes at Sule Lamido University are now fully accredited.

He made this known while conveying the approval of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, to the Vice-Chancellor.

Dr Birniwa said the result reflected the university’s shared commitment, resilience, and dedication to academic excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, fcasson, mnae, described the approval as a clear sign that the university is working hard to meet its mission and vision.

Prof. Kida said the result reflects FULAFIA’s sustained investment in human capital and infrastructure development, as well as its adherence to NUC regulatory benchmarks.

FULAFIA has passed the NUC review for all programmes assessed in 2025 and secured full accreditation status across those presented programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor assured stakeholders that the university would build on the gains recorded from the accreditation outcome.
