Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether the president has the authority to prioritize groups of unauthorized immigrants over others for deportation, whether states have the right to challenge this authority (standing), and whether a district court judge has the power to set aside federal immigration policy. Oral argument took place on Nov. 29.

SCOTUS Denies Stay of Execution of Missouri Man

The U.S. Supreme Court on Nov. 23 denied staying the execution of Kevin Johnson, a Missouri man sentenced to death for first-degree murder. Johnson’s conviction stems from the shooting death of a Kirkwood police officer.
